As Sonic travelled up the mountain, he felt hotter than usual. "Phew!" He said. "This is the hottest I've ever been! I thought Malon's dress would protect me from the heat, but it isn't." Then, he spotted Goron City. "Scarlet Scorch, here I come," he panted as he headed inside. It was a little less hot in the city and there were no gorons around, except for a baby Goron that rolled by. "Excuse me, kid! I need your help!" Called Sonic. The little Goron rolled up to him. "Oh, hi," he said. "You must be Sonic. Scarlet Scorch told me about you. My dad named me after you. I'm Sonic Jr. But you can call me Junior."

"Junior," said Sonic, shaking Junior's hand. "Nice to meet you."

"How can I help, O' Hero of the Gorons?" Asked Junior. Sonic chuckled lightly. "I'm looking for the Scarlet Scorch. I want to ask her why my heat shield isn't working, and if she can be a sage and help me stop Ganondorf."

"I didn't know boys could wear dresses," said Junior. "Very zen. But if you want to know why it isn't working, it's because that dress is only good for summer heat. It's not strong enough to withstand this much heat. If you follow me to the Goron shop with is just over this way, I can get you something better."

"Thanks, kid," said Sonic. He and Junior headed to the Goron shop, but strangely, there was nobody there. "Are you sure it's open?" Asked Sonic. "Oh, sure it is," said Junior. "It's just that all the gorons were taken to the fire temple which a little ways farther up the mountain. But of course, it's very hot up there."

"It was hot just travelling up here," said Sonic. "Why is that?"

"Well," said Junior. "According to Scarlet Scorch, there's a Goron-eating dragon on the loose who cast some sort of heat spell. Scarlet Scorch went to the fire temple to try to save them. She might be able to tell you more about the dragon." Sonic looked at a red tunic. "What's that?" He asked. "That's called a goron's tunic. It's heat resistant," said Junior. "Oh yeah?" Said Sonic, sceptically raising an eyebrow. "Are you absolutely sure about that? I don't want to fall for it again and risk getting my spikes cooked in the temple."

"Don't worry, Sonic," said Junior. "I promise this goron's tunic is definitely heat resistant and is strong enough to protect you in the temple" Sonic thought about it. "It's perfect for summer heat." He remembered that the dress he was now wearing was good for summer heat, but not strong enough to protect him from the intense heat in the temple. "Of course! Now I remember. The dress is for summer heat, not volcano heat. That's why the heat shield wasn't working. But this tunic will give me a strong enough heat shield to protect me from getting burned in the fire temple. Kid, I'm sorry," said Sonic, suddenly feeling bad for doubting the little Goron child. "Don't worry about it," said Junior. "I'd feel sceptical too if a heat resistant plan didn't work the first time. But I'm telling you, this Goron tunic will protect you in the fire temple. Please believe me. The heat shield from the tunic has never let anyone down. Please!"

"Okay, kid. I trust you," said Sonic. "Thank you!" Said Junior. "But how am I going to buy it if there's nobody here?" Asked Sonic. "Just put your rupees on the counter and take the tunic. When the store owner comes back, he'll collect the money," explained Junior. Looking at the price tag very carefully, Sonic placed twenty five rupees on the counter, picked up the goron's tunic and put it on. "I feel much cooler!" He said. "Thanks, kid. You were right."

"Told ya," said Junior. "Now, go save the gorons."

"See ya, Junior. Thanks for your help," said Sonic. And off he went. At the top of the mountain, he found a big mountain crater. It was none other than the Death Mountain Crater. It was super hot because it was literally inside the volcano, but the goron's tunic was working like a charm, creating a super strong heat shield. "Now this is more like it," said Sonic. "The temple must be deep inside." As he trekked on, he found a bridge. Knowing that the temple would probably be on the other side, he began to cross. When Sonic reached the other side, he found Sheik waiting for him. "Sheik! What are you doing here? You'll burn yourself," said Sonic warningly. "Don't worry about me," said Sheik. "I'm wearing a goron's tunic too." Sure enough, she was wearing a goron's tunic too. "Well, that's a relief," said Sonic. "The goron's tunic creates an invisible heat shield around the wearer. Since I'm wearing a goron's tunic, I'll be protected from the heat just like you.

"Oh, okay. Now I get it," said Sonic. "Anyway," said Sheik. "The next sage is in fact Scarlet Scorch and she will be in the fire temple. But she may ask you a favour before she agrees to join you in battle."

"I have a feeling she might ask a favour of me before she becomes a sage, so it seems like a fair deal," said Sonic. "I'm just on my way to see her now."

"That's good," said Sheik. "Now that you're all prepared to tackle the task she'll have for you, I must teach you this special song that will help you get here quickly when you wish to return here." With that, Sheik pulled out her harp again. She started playing a mysterious but cool tune with it. Sonic joined her on his ocarina, following the notes very carefully until he was sure he could play the tune on his own. When Sonic finally got the notes of the song right, he realized that he must be playing the "Bolero Of Fire."

"Once again, you've learned very well," said Sheik proudly. "I'll see you again." She quickly made herself disappear by throwing a Deku nut on the ground in front of her. Sonic chuckled and raced on towards the fire temple to see the Scarlet Scorch.
