Josephine was not having a good day AT ALL. Calling it not a good day was an understatement, it was probably one of her worst days.
First of all She woke up from a horrid nightmare with bugs surrounding her nawing at her school uniform and ate the bugs in the cave she was staying in, so desperate for food.
She was starving only catching a few rat hybrids as snacks and sipped on some rain water she collected in a spare bottle of drinks she had. The herbivores tasted better than the carnivores so eating a carnivore was harsh on the tastebuds.
And she was exhausted first from running from a rabid grubhog then she accidently got in the middle of two scorpileos fighting for territory that saw her and she had to run! She did NOT want to get in the middle of THAT!
And if it couldn't get worse, it was like this day was manufactured by destiny to be the worst day ever, then from a vicious newt hunter who was so determined to catch her and skin her and show off her mounted body to his friends that she had to kill him in self defense.
With glowing fuchsia eyes and his blood on her hands, she twitched her cat ears and felt reliefed he wasn't gonna hurt her.
She was well justified in killing him as he was gonna kill her but she felt a bit guilty about it as even if he was a jerk, he was still a living creature.
The running river washed the blood off her hands but not off her wounded soul. Overall, This wasn't one of her better days to say the least.
Her tummy rumbled and her mouth was dry and parched. She was so hungry she couldn't think and saw some fresh honey on the ground so fresh and smells so good she didn't notice axolotl pink fins poking out waiting for her to fall for the trap.
She started to nibble the honey and then fell into the vines that trapped her, she freaked out and cried out horsely "NO Don't kill me! I'm not a monster I'm a human girl! I'm a person Not your new rug!" but several voices started to coo over her.
A kindhearted female salamander newt named Jessica noticed how scared and unkept the creature was. She wasn't a scary evil newt eating beast, she was a misunderstood creature that was like a person, like them but a bit different.
Jessica cooed while holding her soft cheeks "You poor thing you must be so scared, Were not gonna hurt you sweetheart! You must be so scared, there there you're safe with us" and with her claws, cut down the vines and freed the scared girl.
The scared girl cried tears of relief as fresh tears streamed down her scared face. Josephine shivered as Jessica hugged her while stroking and petting her scruffy wild unkept hair.
Josephine stared into Jessica's kind eyes and felt at ease as warmth enflamed her heart and lighted up her cheeks as Jessica smiled back at her soul. She had never felt this warm before just meeting somebody.
Sure she did like Anne Marcy and Sasha and was warm with Pamela Sandra and Mikayla but those were friendship feelings like with her sisters. She liked their company but in a friendly platonic way. This was something else, something she never really felt before.
On Valentines Days at school she would search out another boy who wasn't interested in the holiday but wanted somebody to pretend to be his girlfriend and would pretend date him.
Anne and Marcy wondered who she would date and Sasha would go along with it and be like "You two are so cute as a couple AWWWWWW!What a good couple" with the squeal and would play cutesy pop love songs but deep down knew she was just pretending so none of the other kids would ever question her or what she truely liked.
Josie wondered if this was...LOVE? But love, like LOVE LOVE? Her young heart couldn't handle these new feelings but welcomed them at the same time as they felt so nice and made her feel so lovely and so happy. She felt...so ALIVE!
Jessica felt similar warm feelings too. She always wondered why she was asked out by many people but never felt anything else other than friendship feelings and she had to turn them down even though she didn't like hurting their feelings.
Why is this strange new person making her feel so happy? And so warm, she wanted to hold her and protect her from being hunted. She felt so angry at her past self for thinking she was just a beast to be hunted. She was more than that. She was to be treasured and cherished. She was as magic users rumoured, her soulmate.
Jessica asked "My name is Jessica the salamander and me and my family will protect you, whats your name?" Josie said "My name is Josephine Rose I'm a human being from another world! Josephine is my full name but my friends and family call me Josie, lets be...friends. Where do you live, I'm so hungry"
Jessica gasped and said "Here have the leftovers from Breakfast" and smiled as she watched her new friend gobble up her food. Josie said "This is delicious thank you so much I will always be grateful!" Jessica said "I'll take you to our familys home I'll lead the way"
Josie held Jessica closely as her and her new family walked out of the forest. Amanda asked her daughter "How did the hunt go- *GASP* You found them!"
Jessica frowned and growled "MOM SHES NOT A BEAST! She's a scared lost girl and my new friend! I WONT let you hurt her or take her back to Vincent to kill her! Leave her alone!"
Evelyn gasped "OH NO SHE DIDNT!" and Katrina said "SHE ACTUALLY TALKED BACK! I have never seen her do that!" Evelyn said "I KNOW RIGHT? She can't even go shopping without being so shy, who is that girl and what she do to the real Jessica?"
Amanda put her hands on her hips as she flicked her axolotl tail in annoyance as her defiant daughter "What did you say Missy?" Jessica growled back with "I said what I said! Leave her alone! She can stay in my room I have an spare bunkbed! Just don't kill her! She really nice when you get know her"
Amanda sighed "Alright then but she's staying in your room, I don't doubt shes a nice girl but still don't talk back to me! I don't like it when you cry it makes me cry too!" flicking away a few tears.
Josephine went on her knees and said "Thank you for not sending me back to the woods, I'll help you in anyway I can!" and Amanda said "You're welcome, I wouldn't be that cruel kid."
Jessica clinged onto Josephine and hugged her as she wrapped her tail around her, a gesture that meant you were at least friends to salamanders.
As the family came out of the forest, suddenly a giant mutant Hybeena (a hybrid hyena with bee parts) with rabies frothed at the mouth and was ready to lunge, the family gasped and prepared to use their weapons and Katrina brought out their spells including their venom protection one when Josephine in pure fear called out "EVERYONE WATCH OUT I'LL DEAL WITH IT!" as Katrina said "ARE YOU INSANE? IT'LL EAT YOU ALIVE!" Josie's eyes flashed fuchsia light as the girl felt her body encloaked in magic as her body heated up like pure magic set her soul on fire.
Her bipedal human form transformed and took on the form of a ginormous fuchsia colored quadrapedal spotted cat with ginormous cat ears and a long tail with fluffy paws adorned with razor sharp claws that look like they were set on magical fire.
As the rabid hybeena tried to maul her, she lunged at the beast and destroyed it and tore it to shreds with a combination of her teeth, sharp claws and her nimble quick moves that would dodge any attacks and used fuchsia firey breath to destroy it until it died, any back up hybeenas were annihilated by her firey fuchsia claws, any threats gone for good, she was engulfed in her new power like she was unstoppable, she was amazing and nobody could hurt her or her new friends.
Her new friends watched the battle in awe. "That...was...amazing!" Evelyn said and she said "WOOOOOAHHHHH" and Katrina said "I have never seen such pure raw magic before just who is she?" "Shes amazing!" Amanda said and Jessica said "Shes MY HERO!" A small crowd emerged some in awe but others in anger and fear. Even Vincent was watching but while being guarded by a group of toads (while the small female toad watched in awe and excitement without the grouchy glare of the other more serious toads she stuck out like a sore thumb. The other toads rolled their eyes and groaned with a whisper of "Vincent must darn HATE us if we have to put up with the runt, what did we ever do to him?")
The crowd of frightened axolotls, salamanders and newts said "The beast saved us!" "More like doomed us its gonna eat us all!" "Its a demon worse than a beast!" "Mommy help me!" and Amanda glared at them with "SHES OUR NEW FRIEND HER NAME IS JOSEPHINE NOT BEAST BACK OFF! SHE SAVED US FROM A RABID HYBEENA AND THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT HER? GO AWAY!" The crowd mumoured but said nothing else. But still This scared Josie as she was about to untransform only to feel a rush of energy again but out of worry.
However she noticed Josie was started to get overwhelmed by her power and Katrina warned her an overwhelmed magic user could experience a surge of devastating pure power coursing through their veins that could destroy everything and only a friend could calm them down. She had an idea on what to do.
Jessica called out to the stressed cat "Josephine Josie, Its me Jessica! We're friends please calm down, I won't hurt you! I won't let anybody hurt you!" The cat felt warm and happy hearing her voice and calmed down and even started purring as she calmed to a less attack oriented form but just a sweet fuchsia feline that rubbed her face against Jessica's.
The crowd calmed down and said "The beast is so sweet" "Maybe she isnt so bad" "she's just misunderstood sorry girl creature" "She saved us shes not a beast shes an angel that came here to save us from the dark" and they gave the girls some privacy.
Katrina whispered to Josephine "The crowds Hatred comes from fear that comes from not knowing why your different, don't worry they don't fear you anymore you're safe now"
Evelyn said "You're so cute and sweet! AWwwww your so soft and cuddly lemme pet you!" as she hopped on Josie's cats form head and hopped off it to pet her fur and paws.
Amanda said "I think i like you too! You're a sweetheart Josie!" and Josie purred and the 5 girls had a group hug.
As Josephine transformed back into her human form, she still had a fuchsia tail, paws and giant fluffy cat ears on her head as well as a kitty nose on her face and spots on her skin. She looked like a cat-human hybrid instead of just a human girl. She couldn't stop purring and mewing involuntarily. This new change she didn't know how to entirely feel about it but her new friends seemed to like it.
Josie and Jessica linked their tails together as they walked back home with their family as Amanda called out "Josie is coming home with us, everyone move along" and the crowd groaned and relunctanly went back home. Somebody said "I'll pay loads of money if you let me pet her! Shes so cute and fluffy" but Amanda simply stated "Sorry shes not for sale" and everyone returned back home.
Amanda opened the door to her home "This is my humble abode, not too shabby" Katrina said "Its seen better days" Evelyn grinned "Josie is so cool! I can't wait to brush her hair and paint her claws! Look at the cute girly stuff she has! Finally another girly girl!" Katrina rolled her eyes. and said "I personally like her magic, I have never seen such a style, usually transformation magic takes ages to learn, just how does she do that" and Evelyn said "thats for me to find out! she likes me more!" and as the frog and the older salamander lovingly squabbled, the shy younger salamander Jessica said "I'll show you the way to my room" as she and Josie held each others arms together.
"Do you like it?" Jessica whispered as Josie said "I LOVE IT its so cool in here!" Marvelling Jessica's books and comics, cute pillows and plushies and her cute wallpaper. Jessica said "This is my bunkbed, you can have the top and I'll be the bottom if you want." and Josie said "Thanks the top is so cool! Are those stars on the roof of the room" "Yeah Katrina gave me them as a gift they glow in the dark so cool aint it?" Jessica said to Josie. Jessica said "We're gonna be best friends forever you and I!" and pulled her into a sudden big hug with her tail and Josie hugged her back. Josie said "Thank you for everything but I must warn you I feel very tired since I've had a long and horrid day before you made it much better so after dinner I wanna get some shut eye okay?"
Jessica replied with "OKay josie anything that makes you feel better! I don't wanna pry but what exactly happened back there anyway?" Josie said "Nah you're my new bestie so I'll tell you. I came from another world as I said with my friends but I don't know where they are so I was trying to find them"
Jessica said "Thats terrible they must be so scared and alone! We must find them as soon as we can!" Josie said "I know but I hope they're fine. One of them had an elegent golden magic box that had magic looking gemstones on them and frog murials on it and when we opened it I just woke up here."
Jessica said "I have never heard of such a box! My sister Katrina studies magic harder than I do I'm an amateur so maybe she knows about it, I didn't know magic happened in your world too!"
Josephine said "Girl no kidding I had no idea either! Magic is just a rumour in mine!" Jessica said "Yeah that makes sense that box nobody would have known it was magical or like a portal or something! So how long have you been here?"
Josie said "A month I believe and I spent that month trying to survive in a cave! Oh man it was ROUGH! and I have all these weird powers along with my new fuzzy wuzzy tail and furry ears! Can you believe it? Its crazy here"
Jessica said "You dont have weird powers?" Josephine said "In puberty in the teen years us humans change a lot but not with powers" Jessica said "So this puberty just gives you a tail and furry ears?" Josephine laughed and said "Ha if only! nah I'm one of a kind when it comes to my kind!" Jessica was a bit confused but took her word and continued with "Hmmmm Maybe that weird box gave you the powers you now have I dunno but whatever you're cool either way Josie! You're a cool girl from another world! I hope I get to see your world someday!" Josie said "Perhaps maybe you could I dunno" and they continued to chat until Amanda called them for dinner. She ate dinner (The dinner itself was beetle pie with worm soup that was surprisingly tasty with chocopedes as dessert) as Evelyn and Katrina asked her similar questions and were satisfied with the answers and then told Amanda she was sleepy and Amanda said "Get plently of rest you're gonna need it sweetheart" and she went to her bed to sleep.
And so Josephine fell asleep. But mysteriously she woke up in her moms house but with twigs in her head and with her new apperence which was very strange. This confused her but She walked down the stairs to greet her parents and siblings. She wanted to explain why she was gone for a month and to make them happy again. However instead of the usual warm smiles and friendly hugs that she would always get, she got glared at and hit a lot and then tied up with rope and a collar. Like she was some sort of dangerous animal.
Her mom Mandy shrieked "EEEEKKK! Why is some weird girl in our house! You're not Josephine just what are you?"
Her dad Bob shouted "I don't think thats a girl, I think thats some sort of animal! You look like our Daughter but you have fuzzy cat ears and a tail and weird fuchsia glowing eyes! You're not our Josie you're some sort of alien FREAK!"
Her sister Sapphire laughed at her and said "EWWWWW that creature is soooo hairy! Get outta here furball" and her twin Savannah pointed at her with "Yuck I think its gonna spit hairballs at us! Gro-o-osssss!"
Her Mom Mandy shouted "GIRLS GET OUTTA HERE before the ugly creature eats you! Im calling the goverment! I know a certain agent who would love to take a look at this aliens rancids guts! Gimme the phone! Just how dare you impersonate MY BABY GIRL YOU HORRID ALIEN FREAK!"
Her Dad Bob scoffed with "The police? Oh please more like I should call animal control! just look at how hideous and hairy it is! Kill it with fire!"
Josephine whimpered and mewled "NOOOO STOP PLEASE IM NOT AN ALIEN! I AM A NORMAL GIRL! I AM JOSIE! DONT KILL ME PLEASE!" but it was no use as they hit her over and over again until she had no choice and she blacked out only to wake up to a new dawn in Amphibia.
It was just a horrid dream, a truely horrid nightmare! She cried tears of relief! Her family back on Earth didn't hate her or know she now had Alien DNA inside her body that allowed her to transform into a giant cat or about her new cat ears! Her new family and friends here also loved her as much as they did! It was a relief!
After all at home, She was loved not hated by her beloved.
A Month passed back at home since the girls disapeered. The girls parents all came together to mourn their daughters disapeerences and most people at school assumed they were dead. The entire school had an assembly about the girls and everyone payed their respects to the girls and their families and everyone cried at the disapperences of the queens of the school. Even Maggie felt deep remorse and bawled her eyes out "THIS IS MY FAULT I WISH I WAS NEVER MEAN TO HER! I WISH I NEVER CALLED THEM NAMES OR HURT THEIR FEELINGS OR TRIED TO TAKE DAFFODIL! IF IT WASNT FOR ME THEY WOULD STILL BE HERE! I MISS THEM SO MUCH IM SO SORRY IM SO FRIGGIN EVIL! I DESERVE WORSE THAN PAIN!" and the teacher said "It has nothing to do with you its not your fault".
Bob and Mandy her parents held together her younger siblings Sapphire and Savannah as they held a picture of Josephine and sobbed together. "I miss her so much why did she have to run away?" her mom weeped. "I wish I could have helped her but I cant do anything" Bob said "I know honey I know I miss her everyday." Savannah said "Life at home isnt the same without her" And Sapphire hugged her and cried "I know, whats the point of living without her?". They would put on a brave face to try and stay strong and honor her memory but it was no use, life would never be the same ever again.
Even the school was never the same, most of the teachers quit and the ones who stayed behind stopped giving a darn even the other kids didn't bother. "I miss the girls I want them back" they would say. "Without the girls sneaking out of class and causing trouble it isnt the same" "Whats the point?" "School is no fun without them and how funny they were" "I don't want a new popular girl I just want them back" The kids and everyone else went mad with grief, suddenly there were riots and chants of how much they missed the 4 girls and would skip school to protest. Several buildings were burnt down and the TV was just non stop news of the girls missing and the protests.
Something else even stranger happened though. When rumour went around that the girls disapeered because of magic light that the box glowed with, and the only thing remaining of the girls was a small white female hedgehog named Daffodil, this hedgehog was deemed the schools last light of hope and a cult surrounded the small furry mammal named a saviour (although some thought she was a harbinger of destruction, an alien that kidnapped them). The cult would were hedgehog masks and robes worshipping the hedgie. "The girls were too cool for this world" "All hail Daffodil" "Shes our shining light in these dark times" they would feed her, worship her and pet her as they weeped and the hedgie would nuzzle her followers in return and sleep on their laps which was seen as her blessing. Even the teachers worshipped her. While most of the kids were benign and loved by the hedgie, Some of the older kids went too far (the 16 - 18year olds) and tried to beat each other up, make them do horrid pranks in her name or even sacrifice each other to her and an interverntine occured and the 17 year olds had to be sent to juvie it was for there own good. But either way everyone agreed the hedgehog was the only reason life was still deemed as being worth living.
If only the girls would return home sooner so this madness will come to an end...
