Batman's eyes narrowed as the pandemonium unfolded. The air crackled with the promise of impending chaos. The Joker reveled in the mayhem he had orchestrated, and his taunts echoed through the grim corridor.

"Looks like the real show is about to begin," Jess muttered, her eyes fixed on the unfolding spectacle.

The automated cell doors, once silent barriers, now hummed with life as they released a horde of frenzied inmates into the dimly lit hallway.

A swarm of twenty-five inmates flooded the room, clad in orange jumpsuits, their rough demeanor signaling a dangerous lot. A grotesque assortment of deranged individuals, each seemingly more unpredictable than the last, spilled forth like a nightmarish tide.

Batman's fists clenched with stoic determination, an unwavering resolve settling over him. Meanwhile, Jess, still recovering from the electric shock, rose with a defiant mixture of readiness in her gaze.

Without a moment's hesitation, Batman waded into the sea of inmates, his punches landing with a force akin to bricks meeting flesh. Teeth were sent flying, noses flattened, as he methodically dismantled the onslaught of criminals.

A knee-kick to the stomach bent one thug, followed by a seamless spin that sent a row of inmates sprawling. Seizing a thug, Batman hurled him face-first into a cell door, rendering him unconscious in a violent display.

Relentlessly, the Dark Knight dispatched bad guy after bad guy, showing no mercy. A brutal leg kick shattered an inmate's limb, eliciting agonized screams.

Utilizing his cape as a blinding tool, Batman incapacitated a row of assailants with a swift kick that sent the broken-legged inmate sliding through the chaos.

A makeshift knife became a futile weapon in the hands of an attacking inmate. Batman skillfully evaded the strike, breaking the thug's arm in a swift counter.

Grasping the assailant by the neck, Batman ruthlessly bashed his head against a cell door, the cracking sound echoing through the corridor.

Another inmate fell victim to Batman's unyielding tactics as he grabbed the man by a sensitive area, leaving the thug screaming in agony. Using him as a projectile, Batman hurled the inmate through the chaos, leaving a trail of moaning and bloodied prisoners in his wake.

A precise throat strike incapacitated one of the criminally insane, followed by a swift takedown that left the assailant sprawled on the floor.

Amidst the chaos, Jess's presence was noticed by a crafty inmate after she thwarted an attack on Batman by throwing a stapler. "Uh oh," Jess muttered as she saw him approaching the window.

Despite her attempts to deter him with thrown objects, the determined inmate ignored her efforts. "Little pig, little pig!" he taunted darkly, seizing Jess by the hair and throwing her out of the window.

Detective Jess landed on the ground with a resounding grunt, rolling over in pain. "Detective!" Batman shouted.

Swiftly recovering, Batman executed a slide kick, tackling another inmate against a cell door and rendering him unconscious.

The inmate looming over Jess received a brutal kick to the groin, followed by a roundhouse kick to the face, leaving him incapacitated.

Jess hurriedly joined Batman's side, fists raised in defense. "Get ready for a rough dance, Detective," Batman warned, his voice edged with urgency.

As the inmates closed in, Jess unholstered her gun, eyes darting between the advancing horde. Batman, a silent force of justice, moved with calculated precision. The manic laughter of the Joker blended with the approaching lunatics' cacophony.

"No guns," Batman warned. "You can fight; use that."

Dodging an incoming punch, Jess retorted, "That's like me having a cup, and you're telling me to drink from the carton." She brought an inmate's head down onto her knee. "You make no sense!"

Batman swiftly grabbed two inmates by the head and smashed them together. "Just do as I say!"

In the control room, Harley Quinn grinned with manic delight. "Oh, this is gonna be a blast! Puddin' sure knows how to throw a party!"

Joker stepped beside her with a grin. "The sexual tension between those two is ginormous!"

Batman seamlessly weaved through the chaos, each strike a testament to his martial prowess. Jess fired controlled shots, aiming for limbs to disable rather than kill. When her bullets ran out, she expertly tossed her magazine at an inmate's face.

Fueled by madness, the inmates surged forward with unpredictable fervor, some leaping recklessly, others lunging with predatory grace. It was a dance of madness orchestrated by the Joker, a symphony of anarchy.

While Batman incapacitated one assailant after another, Jess struggled to maintain her ground. The confined space intensified the skirmish's intensity, every corner concealing a new threat.

"Stay close," Batman commanded, his cape swirling like a shadowy mantle.

Jess nodded, determination flickering in her eyes. The Joker's laughter echoed, a haunting backdrop to the chaotic ballet they found themselves entangled in.

In the dimly lit chaos, the last inmate staggered to his feet, blood oozing from his mouth. He pressed forward, visibly in pain, a potential victim of head trauma. Just as Batman prepared to subdue him, Jess's swift foot shot out, connecting with the inmate's face. The impact sent the man sprawling to the floor, unconscious.

Batman couldn't help but appreciate her technique for a fleeting moment. "What?" Jess questioned, a raised brow adding a touch of defiance.

"Nice form," Batman acknowledged, his gravelly voice cutting through the turmoil.

A smile involuntarily graced Jess's face. "I take defense classes."

"I can tell."

A smug expression played on Jess's face. "Is that flirting I detect?"

Batman turned away, a rare hint of discomfort in his demeanor. "No."

"I think it is."

"Drop it." The Dark Knight's curt response left no room for further banter.

As the tension momentarily subsided, Jess, wearing a triumphant smile, couldn't resist pushing a bit further. "You know, Batman, not everyone gets complimented on their form from a vigilante."

Batman, always guarded, remained silent. His attention shifted to the remaining inmates sprawled on the floor, each one a testament to the relentless force he had unleashed.

Jess, undeterred, stepped closer, her tone teasing. "I mean, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you were impressed."

A glimmer of amusement flickered in Batman's eyes, hidden behind the cowl. "Impressed might be a stretch."

A fake gasp slipped from Jess's lips as Gordon's voice echoed from the office above the bedlam, reaching her through the microphone. "Batman, all the security gates and elevators are locked down. Joker has full control of the facility."

"Oh," Jess shot a glance at Batman, her lips pursed in frustration. "Great."

Joker's mocking voice chimed in from a TV screen in the corner, casting eerie illumination on the chaos. "Well done, you two! I knew pairing you two together would be a great idea! I can kill two birds with one stone." A maniacal laugh escaped the Joker's lips.

A deep growl emitted from Batman. "If you think I'll let you run…"

"Hush now, Bats!" Joker silenced. "Remember, I have eyes everywhere. I won't have you two going where I don't want you to." An evil smile crossed his features. "Now, tata, party planning is in order." The electrical gate leading to an elevator shut off, sealing their fate.

The TV screen reverted to the Arkham Asylum loading screen, leaving a lingering sense of impending doom. Batman turned to Jess, his cape swaying with a somber gravity. "I'll find a way and stop him. I trust you can clean this mess."

A look of confusion etched its way onto Jess's face. "But he's expecting both of us."

"It's too dangerous for you," Batman said bluntly. "And you'll slow me down."

Jess gestured around them. "Last I checked, I'm pretty good at handling myself."

"I said no," he growled. "Just for once, do as you're told."

"You shouldn't go after him alone," Jess warned.

"I'm not alone." Batman raced up the ramp and disappeared down the hallway.

Joker, who observed the entire scene, tutted in disappointment. "No, no, no, we can't have that now, can we?" He clapped his hands. "Harley!" he called.

Harley Quinn skipped into the room, wrapping her arms around Joker's shoulders. "Yes, puddin'?"

"It's time to put our good friend to use!"

As guards tended to the inmates on the floor, Jess toyed with the blue band on her finger. "Don't feel down, kid," Gordon spoke. "He's like that with everyone." He placed his hand on her shoulder. "You did a great job."

Jess couldn't shake the frustration that coiled within her, but Gordon's reassuring touch provided a brief moment of solace. Her gaze lingered on the chaos around them, the aftermath of Joker's calculated mayhem.

"He's got a point, you know," Gordon offered, his eyes reflecting a mix of sympathy and understanding. "Batman, he can be a bit… well, Batman. But he trusts you to handle things here."

She nodded, absorbing his words, and allowed a moment of acknowledgment for the acknowledgment. As the gravity of the situation settled, Jess turned her attention to the task at hand.

Abruptly, the platform plunged into darkness, emergency lights flickering to life with the disconcerting hum of circuit breakers. Batman's sharp eyes scanned the surroundings, a mirrored vigilance shared by Jess and the uneasy crowd on the platform. The asylum's speakers crackled to life, amplifying the sinister voice that echoed through the shadows.

"Ladies and gentlemen, do I have your full attention? I am your new warden, the Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker," the chilling proclamation resonated. "It's time that the mad take over the madhouse. Too long we have been oppressed, bullied, and disgraced inside these walls. Show our captors no mercy, reign free, and cause as much mayhem as you can!"

Jess couldn't stifle a curse, her eyes darting around to assess the sudden chaos unfolding. In the dim glow of emergency lights, she spotted Boles and a menacing cluster of inmates.

The air crackled with tension as gunfire erupted, a barrage that targeted the guards—except for Gordon and Jess.

Amidst the gunfire, Boles seized Jess by her hair, wrenching her arm behind her back. Simultaneously, an inmate grabbed Gordon, leaving the seasoned commissioner momentarily defenseless. "What the hell!" Gordon hissed, his voice cutting through the pandemonium.

"Shut up!" Boles snarled, his grip on Jess tightening as the inmate with Gordon struck a brutal blow to the commissioner's stomach.

"Jim!" Jess gasped, her concern echoing through the chaos before she felt the sting of Boles's backhanded slap across her face.

Boles's threat resonated in the air, the tension palpable as his grip tightened, a vise closing around Jess. The charged atmosphere crackled with animosity as he challenged her, his words laced with bitterness.

A defiant grunt escaped Jess's lips, her response dripping with unyielding confidence. "Obviously."

The air shifted, the silence pregnant with impending violence. Boles, fueled by a surge of aggression, swung his fist with ruthless precision. The devastating blow struck Jess square in the gut, her cry of pain echoing in the dimly lit space. Crumpling to the unforgiving ground, she convulsed, succumbing to the force of the assault.

"Oh, they're gonna have fun with you," Boles declared, the ominous proclamation hanging like a dark cloud. Through the haze of pain, Jess fixed a piercing glare on Boles, a look laden with the deepest reservoirs of hatred.

In that moment, the promise of torment loomed over her, a dire fate awaiting her if Batman failed to discern the unfolding brutality in the shadows. The race against time had begun, and Jess found herself teetering on the precipice of a world engulfed in pain, her resilience tested against the impending storm.

Batman, swift and silent, raced down the dimly lit corridor of Arkham's maximum-security wing. The frenetic energy in the air hinted at a brewing storm within the asylum's cold, imposing walls. As he neared the pacification chamber, the cacophony of urgent voices reached his ears.

Loud and clear, the sinister cadence of Zsasz's voice cut through the chaos. "If anyone comes in, or I see anything that even REMOTELY resembles a bat, your friend dies!" A sharp scream of pain echoed, underscoring the gravity of the threat. "Throw away your weapons and back the fuck off!"

Batman approached the guards, each one gripped by the gravity of the situation. One guard, frantic and desperate, turned to him. "Batman, it's Zsasz, he got Mike. He's strapped in the chair. Zsasz has totally lost it!"

"Wait here," Batman commanded with unwavering authority.

The guard, his face etched with fear, intercepted Batman's path. "You can't. He'll kill Mike if he sees anyone coming."

"He won't see me." Batman smoothly extracted his grapple gun, firing it to the ceiling. The cable whisked him into the shadows above, concealing him in the ceiling's darkness.

Below, the pacification chamber unfolded a scene of macabre horror. Zsasz, shirtless and adorned with tally marks, circled the electroshock chair where Mike, battered and bloody, was bound. An orderly lay lifeless in a pool of blood. Zsasz, using a razor, etched another tally mark onto his scarred skin.

"What was that?!" As Zsasz grew paranoid, Batman, perched atop a gargoyle, awaited the opportune moment. "I warned you! Anyone steps in! The guard gets it!" With a swift descent, he kicked Zsasz in the face just as the sadistic killer prepared to deliver the final zap to Mike.

Zsasz crumpled against a glass cabinet, unconscious. "Somebody put this animal back in his cell!" Batman barked orders to contain the situation, the blades on his gauntlet slicing through Mike's binds. "You're safe now."

As guards escorted the defeated Zsasz away, Batman received a message from Barbara Gordon. "Bruce, are you picking this up?" Barbara, focused on the computer monitors, shared critical information. "Arkham Asylum just vanished from the network."

"His crew is in control of the security system," Batman explained. "He must have isolated it from the grid."

Barbara's voice took on a nervous tone. "That's not all he's done." She revealed the Joker's sinister plan. "All police beats are reporting the Joker placing bombs around Gotham. He says he'll detonate them if anyone sets foot on Arkham Island."

"He's lying. It's only a diversion to keep people away," Batman asserted confidently.

A sudden interruption came from the TV, broadcasting Harley Quinn. "Hello! Is this thing on?" Harley's manic voice filled the air. "How's it hanging B-Man?"

"Quinn," Batman growled, his displeasure evident.

Harley, reveling in chaos, continued to taunt. "Looks like you're having a hard time there!"

"Harley! Where's Joker?" Batman demanded.

Harley feigned contemplation. "Hmm, tempting, Bats, but no dice. Now the inmates are running the asylum."

Batman's jaw tightened at the unfolding drama. Harley's sadistic delight resonated through the air. She gasped in excitement. "Oh look!" She walks off camera and kicks a beaten Warden Sharp onto screen. "I'm now subbing for the old man!" She puts her leg onto Sharp's thighs and pulls his head into her chest. "Old Sharpie's never been happier!" She kicked him off-screen before gasping one more time.

The air thickened with anticipation, a palpable tension building as the scene unfolded.

"Oh, and I have another surprise for you!" She went to walk off-screen again before pausing. "One second B-Man, you're gonna love it!"

"What is she doing?" Barb asked over the comm.

"Ow! No kicking!" Harley shouted off screen followed by another squeal. "Hey, no biting either! What are you feral?!"

"Please don't tell me," Barb mumbled.

"No…" Batman mumbled upon seeing Harley dragged Jess into view. Duct tape crisscrossed over Jess's mouth, her disheveled appearance a testament to the struggle she endured. Green eyes, ablaze with defiance, locked onto Harley with a dangerous intensity.

A frustrated huff escaped the clown's lips, setting the stage for the impending darkness. "Jeez!" She looked back at the camera with a smile. "Mr. J told you two to stick together! So, he's left it up to me to watch her until the party!" She looked at Jess before shuddering. "O-Or I'll leave her with my boys! Either way, you can't have her! She's Mr. J's now."

A muffled string of curses emanated from Jess, a testament to her resilience in the face of captivity. The guards, mere spectators of the unfolding drama, exchanged uneasy glances.

"Oh boy." One of the guards mumbled.

"Ta-ta for now B-Man!" With a loud grunt, she broke the camera, disabling the feed.

"Bruce," Barb started. "They'll kill her."

"No, they won't." Batman spoke. "Joker has a weird fascination with her. Once I get her back, she's not leaving my sight."

Barbara's plea hung in the air. "Just save her."
