Hello! I'm back, thank you for the encouraging comments. Here's another chapter, I don't know how long or short these chapters are, but I'm putting down everything I can think of. Hopefully you guys are still enjoying it and stick with me. Not quite sure where I want this story to go, but we'll see.
The door swung open. Ross pushed himself away from Rachel and she jumped off the counter just as Joey walked in.
Joey, oblivious to what the two were just doing, the only strange this he noticed was Ross in their apartment.
"Hey! Ross, what are you doing here? How's it going?"
Ross and Rachel gave each other quick looks. Ross looked back at Joey, swallowed nothing, his throat being completely dry.
"Uhh... I'm just..."
He looks at Rachel, to see what he should say. Rachel widened her eyes and nodded to Joey, trying to tell him to just say anything, except the truth.
Ross went back to Joey, knowing now how to answer.
"We just got back from visiting Rachel's dad, I just put Emma to sleep, I was just leaving."
Lie. He was not leaving, and he didn't want to leave, but he had to.
"Oh, how is Dr. Green, by the way, is he better now?" asked Joey while grabbing something to eat out of his fridge.
Ross turned to Rachel and gave her a quick glance while Joey wasn't looking. She was thinking of something else, that something being Ross, but he thought this question was one she should answer. Rachel looked back at Ross, trying hard not to fall into his dreamy eyes. She broke contact with him and looked over at Joey, who was walking to the counter to sit down, not knowing Rachel had been there not even 5 minutes ago, only she wasn't eating, at least not food.
"Yeah, he's good, just a little scare."
"Oh, well that's good. I'm glad!" said Joey
Rachel turned to look at Ross, totally daydreaming about where their kiss could've led to.
"Yeah, it is." said Rachel not really knowing what she was referring to. Rachel couldn't keep her eyes off Ross. Her eyes glanced up and down, to his lips then his eyes. Ross did the same, staring at her beautiful eyes, he could just take a quick swim in them. His eyes couldn't move from her lips, while he licked his bottom lip. Rachel noticed this sign right away; he wanted her as much as she wanted him. If Joey walked away for just one second, one of them would jump the other.
Rachel looked up at Ross's eyes and gave him a small smile, he reciprocated with his funky smile. It was just the two of them, at least that's how they felt. They were flirting with their eyes, until Joey started moaning, cause his sandwich was so good.
"Mmm... anyway, what are you guys going to do now" asked Joey, while devouring his sandwich.
They both knew what they so desperately wanted to do but couldn't. Ross gave a quick glance to Rachel and faced Joey, not wanting to say what he was going to, but couldn't think of anything else.
"Well, I think I'm going to go home, there's a pile of essays I have to correct."
Rachel's smirk turned to a frown. She didn't want him to go, but she understood. She looked at Ross, trying to tell him she understood, but that they would eventually finish what they started. When they were alone.
He got the message.
"Alright man. Have fun with that" Joey teased Ross
"We'll see you tomorrow" said Rachel, but she actually meant that she'd see him tomorrow. Only her.
Ross shook Joey goodbye (you know, the clap handshake that homies give each other)
He walked to the door and brushed by Rachel, shortly touching the back of her hand, his palm covering her whole hand, his fingers wrapping around, reaching the sides of her palm.
Rachel felt a sensation that went all the way from her hand to the rest of her body, she got goose bumps everywhere.
Ross opened the door, but before leaving, he turned around.
"See ya"
Joey looked up for a sec and said bye. Ross wasn't talking to Joey; he was talking to Rachel, and she knew it. She gave him a quick smile, that drove him crazy and then he was gone.
Rachel was still standing in front of the door, a big smile on her face. Eventually, she realized Joey was still in the room and started to walk to her room.
"I'm gonna go to bed. Good night, Joey!"
"Good night, Rach!" he mumbled through the last bite of his meatball sandwich.
Rachel quickly walked to her room and closed the door, so Joey wouldn't wonder why she was smiling.
Rachel was lying on her bed, wanting to close her eyes for a bit, but not wanting to stop thinking about Ross. Little Emma was sleeping in her cradle, right beside Rachel's bed, so peacefully. Honestly, Rachel had totally forgotten about Emma while she was kissing Ross, she never forgot about Emma, she felt kind of bad about it, but it was just, that when she's with Ross... Ugh, he drives her crazy! She wanted him now more than ever, she couldn't live without him, she wanted him here, right now, in this bed, holding her.
Ross just got back to his apartment; he couldn't believe what had just happened. He kissed Rachel, Rachel kissed him, THEY KISSED! And he wanted more, he wanted her lips again, she wanted to feel her skin on his, he needed her. He wondered how he was going to sleep with Rachel on his mind. But he didn't really want to sleep, he wanted to have Rachel on his mind, he wanted to keep playing their kiss scene over and over again in his head.
Ross and Rachel both put on their pajamas and got ready for bed. The whole time they were thinking of each other, wondering what the other person was doing.
Rachel walked over to Emma, stared at her, she saw the man she loved in her face, and she loved that she did. Now, whatever would happen to them, she would always have him with her. She was so happy she had this baby with Ross, she couldn't imagine having Emma with anyone else. Ross was always the one, and maybe now they could be a real family.
"What if we don't work out?"
This thought suddenly came to her, but now made her doubt everything. What would happen? What about Emma? She always knew that if they did decide to get back together at some point, that it would HAVE TO work out... for Emma. What if they broke up, and worst of all, what if they had a bad break up? How could they move on from that, how could they make it alright for Emma? I mean, they were doing so well, their relationship was great, friendly and peaceful. Could they be that selfish to ruin that for Emma just because they felt some attraction. But THAT attraction was everything. It felt so right. Didn't it? Damn it, now she didn't know what to feel. Why couldn't she just think of all the good things that could also come from them being honest about their feelings and just going for it? But she had to think of Emma. She would talk to Ross in the morning. It's crazy how quickly her emotions changed.
She knew she should stop thinking about him, if she wasn't sure what to feel, but he kept popping into her head. She couldn't stop it, so eventually she just let herself do it. Only tonight would she allow herself to love Ross and dream of him.
They both laid on their bed, wishing for the other person to be beside them. Eventually, after fighting hard not to, they fell asleep and dreamt of the other person. Some quite intense dreams. Rachel's more intense and hotter than Ross'. Their dreams were the sequel to their kiss, it was everything it could've been, but it wasn't real, even if they wanted it to.
Ross awoke to the sound of ringing, first he thought he was dreaming it, but the noise didn't align to his dream, it was definitely out of place.
"Ring... ring..." the noise was far away from him, but not so far that it wasn't in his apartment. Eventually he pulled himself up and slouched to his living room, checking the time on the way.
2:46 AM
The closer he got to the sound, the faster he realized it was coming from his telephone.
Who could be calling him at this time?
"I swear if somebody made a mistake and called me by accident, I will kill them" thought Ross as he was picking up the phone.
A familiar voice came from the other end, a voice he knew so well, except it wasn't as sweet as always. It was worry and fear.
"Ross, I need you"
That's that! I hoped you liked this chapter; I was kind of lost at the beginning, didn't know how to continue, but I think I rounded it off nicely. Leaves me at the perfect spot to continue. Sorry this chapter took a while; I had a really busy week and didn't have time to write. Hoping I can make time for the next one and get it out next week. Anyway, as always, please review and tell me what you want to happen next. And don't worry, I'm working on a little Ross and Rachel fluff. ;)
