Alexander held out his hand and with a thought commanded the security interface to rise. Atlantis responded and a column rose up from the floor to meet his hand. Atlantis scanned him and accepted him.
"I've activated the security protocols." He told the others. "Atlantis is scanning and if it finds anything it will contain it and notify us. We can start bringing people and the supplies down. "
He tapped his communicator. "Colonel, everything looks clear, could you make sure the Potentia is sent down with the first group of people, please?"
"You're certain?"
"Yes, I activated the security protocols, Atlantis isn't finding anything of concern."
"Alright, we'll start sending people down and then the supplies."
Corda arrived with the first group, she had the partially full Potentia in a case with her. Alexander was still annoyed over the fact that McKay's screw up meant the Altimah's nearly full Potentia had to be installed on the Prometheus in order to get the ship here and back to Earth, since they couldn't pull the one from the outpost anymore, with it having had to be moved to the moon. Once he'd exchanged the partially full one for the nearly depleted one, he'd move the nearly empty one to the Altimah. It used far less power then the city and that Potentia would keep the Altimah functioning until they could find another.
"Let's get this installed, just by activating the security protocols, Atlantis is doing more then she's done in 10,000 years and it's using more energy, energy she can't afford to use right now with the Potentia that is currently installed nearly out of power."
Jon had arrived with the first group as well. He turned to Major Lorne. "Secure the immediate area and find a place we can put supplies."
"Aye, sir." The Major motioned to several of his security people and they began checking the area around them.
Alexander and Corda headed for the power room. Alexander set the Potentia in place and then pulled the nearly emptied one from the power matrix. The partially full one was accepted.
"Let's get back to the control room. I want to get a diagnostic running and figure out what Atlantis' current status is."
Corda nodded and they returned to the control room.
"It's installed." Alexander told Jon. "We're going to get a diagnostic scan going, determine her current status."
"Good idea. For all we know, she's got damage that they opted not to repair before leaving." Jon responded.
Alexander began to initialize consoles and set Atlantis to run a diagnostic. He tapped his communicator again. "Colonel, I've got a diagnostic running. You can bring me back up so I can install the Potentia I pulled in the Altimah and get her secured."
"Affirmative." Alexander felt the tingle of the transporter and his view changed from Atlantis' control room to the Prometheus' transporter room. He nodded at the technician and moved out of the way so she could continue sending people and supplies down. He headed for the hanger bay where the Altimah was waiting. Once on board, he inserted the Potentia in the Altimah's own power matrix and headed for the control chair.
"Colonel, you can open the hanger door now. The Altimah is ready to separate from the Prometheus."
"Opening hanger door." Alexander eased the Altimah out of the hanger bay and flew towards the planet. The Altimah plunged into the ocean and matching his shield frequency to Atlantis, passed through the shield. He spotted an open area on one of the piers and set the Altimah down. 'Don't want to tempt Murphy, but so far, so good.' He thought and headed for the nearest transport tube. Soon he was back in the control room. Corda was monitoring the diagnostic.
"How's she looking?" He asked.
"Good. There doesn't seem to be any damage."
"Jon, Atlantis is looking good." Alexander reported. "The control tower has ready response rooms for on duty security personnel. Those will do for quarters for now. Until we know what's going out in the galaxy, we can't afford to run power to the other towers right now, so I've left them all in shut down mode."
"Good idea. Sheppard, take a team and start securing those rooms."
"Yes, sir. Are those stained glass windows up there, Alexander?"
"They're not made of glass, but they serve the same function. To make things more colorful and beautiful. When the sun shines through them, they are amazing. "
"I hope the Wraith are gone." Corda said. "Atlantis uses less power on the surface anyway and really does look incredible in the sun."
"Jon, remember the ships that fit through the gate, I mentioned?" Alexander asked. "They're in a hanger bay directly above us. Well, one of them, there are others."
"Oh, I want to see these ships for myself." He responded and Alexander led him up to the hanger bay.
"Nice, I can't wait to fly one."
"That'll have to wait, we have alot to do. Something to look forward to, though."
"Indeed, as Teal'C would say."
They headed back down to the control room where they found Daniel had made himself at home at one of the consoles.
"This is incredible! I can't wait to start studying - ."
"You're not staying Daniel, the only reason you got to come on the first trip here was that Jack was afraid you'd drive him insane with your nagging. The Prometheus is leaving tomorrow. You're going to be on it if we have to hog tie you." Jon told him.
"But I can help! I know the language and I can learn more - ."
"The Stargates in Pegasus have a translation matrix that extends a radius of a couple of miles out from the Stargate. Beyond that range, the humans in Pegasus had developed a trade language and probably still use it. Like the SGC people learned Gou'ald so they could interact with people in the Milky Way, I'm sure our people will soon learn the trade language." Alexander told him. "You're going back to Earth, Daniel. Even the President was adamant on that one. Price you pay for being so damn good at what you do."
"This sucks!"
