...Okay, I did not expect this much attention. Seriously, in a span of a week, this became my most famous RWBY story. Is it because it's a Jaune story or also because it's inspired by Arc for Every Season? Both?
Anyways, enjoy.
A couple of hours later, Jaune felt like his entire view on life itself had changed.
Magic was real. Not like those magicians who use illusions or sleight of hands or people using semblances to make it look like magic.
Actual. Fucking. Magic.
Obviously, he was skeptical and needed proof.
And Headmaster Ozpin provided it in the form of videos.
The first seemed to be the POV of someone actually recording. It showed a woman with red hair, silver eyes and a white cloak and Jaune had to admit, the woman was very beautiful.
The woman smiled and waved a bit, before closing her eyes. She then opened them up, and white flames began to pour out of her. The wind picked up around her, forming a tiny tornado and she began levitating, before she shot up into the sky, out of perspective.
The second one was different. It seemed like footage from a security camera, most likely a prison cell, showcasing a woman with black hair and red eyes, dressed in what is probably a samurai outfit.
He can't exactly tell because the woman keeps thrashing around, flames coming out of her hands and mouth, trying to burn the cell around her, like a wild animal.
At first he assumed that was the woman's Semblance… until she sliced the air with her hand and a red portal appeared in front of her, before another appeared behind her. It seemed that wasn't what she wanted because when she saw the other portal, she screamed and her entire body was involved in flame and she began bouncing around like a wild animal.
He's surprised the camera wasn't destroyed in the process…
"I have documents of their families, DNA tests and testimony from their teammates indicating that neither of them are related, one of which is an actual brother to the second woman you saw in the video." Ozpin explained. "I have further documents of their semblances before they obtained these powers, if you wish any more proof."
"No, I'm convinced." Jaune said, sighing. If you told him when he woke up this morning that he would discover magic was real, he would have laughed in your face and asked if you escaped an asylum or something.
Now he's wondering if he should enter one as well. It sounds way too crazy to be true, and this could all be a ruse from the Headmaster, wanting him to actually believe his story.
But then again, what reason would the Headmaster of Beacon have to lie to a nobody like him? He didn't have anything special, so there was no point in going through all this effort just to fool him.
"So apparently, these two womens have magic powers. Cool." He said, his mind not being able to come up with anything else.
"The only ones in all of Remnant, Jaune. Please remember." Ozpin reminded. "Also, there are four, not two."
"Yeah, four. Maidens, right?" Jaune said, surprised he could actually form coherent sentences with his mind working overtime trying to process all of this.
So apparently there were four women (for some reason, they could only be women) who had magic powers that were more powerful than any semblance and required no aura to use. They were hidden from the public by Ozpin's predecessors because people tried to hunt them down for their power and so there was no way of knowing who the current Maidens were. "Who are the other two?" He asked.
"I will reveal them, in due time, once I'm sure you're on my side." Ozpin said. "One Maiden alone is very dangerous. Add four of them in the same place…"
"They could destroy an entire kindgom." Jaune gulped. "Even the world probably."
"Or save it, hopefully." Ozpin countered.
"And...you didn't plan for this? All four of them to end up with those powers?" Jaune asked.
"Jaune, I'm only human. Despite what people think, I don't have eyes everywhere." Ozpin said with a smirk.
Could have fooled me with this Illuminati shit! He thought, not daring to voice this at the Headmaster.
"The only ones I'm 100% certain of is Miss Rose, the first woman you saw, who has been a Maiden the longest and Miss Branwen, the second one. As for the other two, they do not know how they obtained these powers." Ozpin explained.
"Okay, so they seem really strong. What's your plan? Sending all four of them against the Grimm?" Jaune asked.
"Yes, but also no." Ozpin answered.
"Huh?"
"Later, Jaune, when you can be more trusted." He repeated.
What could be more secretive than this!? He thought. "So you don't even know if you can trust me! What's stopping me from just going out there and telling everyone?"
"Because no one would believe you." Ozpin replied calmly. "Let us be frank, Jaune. A boy not even in his twenties, who has no remarkable feats so far, going up against the Headmaster of Beacon and who is responsible for an entire kingdom. Who do you think people will believe more? You have no proof and even if you obtain the videos I showed you, it would still not be enough to convince most of the population. This, of course, without counting the fact that I could easily leak your forged transcripts to the public and you'll be in a jail cell before even talking to a reporter."
Oh right, he forgot he was essentially being blackmailed into this. "But why me?" He asked the million lien question.
"Because I need your help, Jaune."
"Huh?" Jaune said. Did he just hear him right? Did he ask for-
"Your help." The headmaster leaned back on his chair and sighed. "While I cannot tell you my exact reasoning, I don't exaggerate that these four may be the key to saving all of Remnant. However, I'm afraid that these women do not trust me."
"Why? You're the Headmaster! What reason could they have for not trusting you?" He asked.
"Well for Miss Rose and Miss Branwen, I cannot say, not because I do not trust you, but it's because it's more personal and it's not my place to say." Ozpin said. "As for the other two, they aren't exactly fond of their situation and having a person of power commanding them could lead to catastrophic consequences."
"Better the headmaster than some guy half their age without any training!" Jaune shouted. "I don't even have my semblance, what could I possibly offer? Why not another adult?"
"Trust me, I have tried." Ozpin said. "The only ones I could trust was a colleague of mine named Glynda, but apparently it's mandatory to use vacation days and she piled them up over the years, so she is currently on a very long paid vacation."
"What about the relative you mentioned?" He asked, feeling like he shouldn't pry on this Glynda.
"Ah yes, while it is true he could help, I need him on the field. Besides, I do not think the school would not survive if he encountered his sister." Ozpin said. "I have tried every other avenue. This is my last option. I need your help." Ozpin said.
You make it sound like I have a choice. He thought. "Let's assume I accept. What am I supposed to even do? Pass Initiation?"
"Oh there's no need for that." Ozpin said. "It would be better if you were close to them, so you're going to be a Teacher's Assistant."
"A Teacher's Assistant!?" Jaune shouted. "Wait, they're teachers!?"
"Yes, did I not mention that?" Ozpin asked. "Odd."
…Jaune is starting to understand why this Glynda is on vacation.
"Well, Miss Rose is teaching Grimm Studies, Miss Branwen is teaching Combat Class…"
"THAT WOMAN IS TEACHING HOW TO FIGHT!?" Jaune yelled.
"...and the last two are going to teach Dust Theory and Application and History." Ozpin continued, ignoring Jaune's outburst. "Now, they are not 100% qualified to teach, so they need someone to help them out with their problems, be it emotional or educational."
"What kind of problems?" Jaune asked and continued when Ozpin opened his mouth. "If you say that you will keep it a secret. I'm walking out that door." A bluff, but he really needed to know more in order to help.
Ozpin sighed. "First of all, they are all widows." He said.
"Oh…" And just like that, Jaune's anger, nerves or disbelief were replaced by sadness. "I'm sorry to hear that."
"Yes. Now these deaths were not recent, but I'm sure you of all people know that the heart heals, but never forgets." Ozpin added.
"Yeah…" Jaune simply said. "Is that all?"
"That is one of the main issues, yes, but there are others, each one individual. Miss Rose has been injured in a fight and has lost her voice. From what your transcripts say, you know sign language. Is this correct or another lie?" Ozpin asked.
"Yes, that part is true. A few kids at my school were deaf or mute, so I learned sign language to communicate with them. Didn't want them to feel left out." Jaune said.
"A good quality. Sadly, I do not believe the rest of the student body knows sign language aside from at least two of them. While I believe Miss Rose can easily make up for this, I would be relieved if she had someone in her corner in case she needs someone to shout or be her translator." Ozpin explained. "Miss Branwen is a former bandit, who led her tribe before she was captured and brought here."
"She's a criminal!?" Jaune shouted. "And you're putting her in charge of students!?"
"That reaction is why I need someone there, to make sure she does her job and does not accidentally kill someone." Ozpin said.
Oh yeah, I will definitely be able to stop her with all the training that I don't have! Jaune thought.
"And if you're worried about her being a threat, don't be. I have taken the necessary precautions for her obedience and she has accepted the terms."
"Her video shows otherwise…" He muttered.
"In terms of her escape, do not worry because she has been tracked and won't be able to leave Beacon without my permission." Ozpin added. "As for the other two… I will simply say one is an alcoholic and the other is a Faunus, one who was a former member of the White Fang."
"One of the most powerful women on Remnant… has a drinking problem…" Jaune repeated, to make sure he didn't misheard, before he realize something. "Wait, you mean to tell me that two of the most powerful women on the planet are also criminals?" Jaune asked.
"Yes and no. While Miss Branwen was a bandit up until recently, the other was part of the White Fang before it turned into the terrorist organization you know today. They were married to the former Chieftain of Menagerie. She is a peaceful woman, but I believe she is still not fond of people in power, so a younger and weaker person should be able to get closer to her."
"And the one with a drinking problem?" Jaune asked.
"A widow and the newest CEO of a company. I cannot exactly make a move without her thinking I'm trying to control her. Besides…" He ruffled his hair. "I think I remind her too much of her husband."
"Okay, so I'm supposed to help four of the strongest women teach classes." Jaune said. "Aren't we forgetting one teensy-weensy, but ever so crucial, little tiny detail? I DON'T KNOW HOW TO TEACH!"
"There is no need to worry. You will not have to teach anything. Just help the teacher themselves when they need to." Ozpin reminded.
"Ok, and are we forgetting I'M NOT OLD ENOUGH TO BE A T.A!?" He shouted.
"I can easily change your legal age." Ozpin added. Oh, so him forging transcripts is illegal, but changing his age is fine!? "And if you lack training or education, the teachers can easily provide it for you. If needed, I can call a friend to escort you on missions."
Jaune groaned, realizing that Ozpin was dead serious about this. "Fine, so I also I help them teach. What else do you want me to do?"
"To be their friend, Jaune."
Jaune chuckled. What is this? Some bad fanfic idea or reality show? For a he second he thought Ozpin was joking, but the lack of amusement on his face proved otherwise. "If that sounds too much, a confidant of sorts. Where they can rely on you with their problems and you can report them to me."
His laughter died down. "So in other words, you want me to spy on them." Jaune said, scowling. "Make sure they are staying in their lane?"
"No." The headmaster's expression turned harsh and his cold response made him shiver. "I genuinely want to help them, but I realize that might not be the best job for me."
Jaune could tell the man was being honest. Still…
"I...I think you have too much faith in me." Jaune said as he shrunk in his seat, his nervousness returning. A part of him wants to help these people, but what exactly could he do?
Ozpin chuckled. "Jaune, having faith in someone is essential in teaching. Hopefully you will see that in the future." Ozpin said, smiling. "Besides, you do have something that my other options did not."
"What is that?" Jaune asked, genuinely curious
"Well, you have six younger siblings, correct?" Ozpin asked, to which he nodded. "And after your father's passing, to help your mother, you assumed the role of 'man of the house', so to speak?"
Jaune nodded, this time a bit sad. Mom was a wreck after Dad passed away. Raising 8 kids on her own was hard, especially when you added grief into the mix. She pretended that everything was fine, but Jaune could tell it was wearing down on her. There even was a time when she…
He shook his head, not wanting to relive those memories. Essentially, he began to help her mom. He couldn't get a job at his age and the money he made from summer jobs or helping people around wasn't enough, but he helped in other ways, such as laundry, cleaning the house, cooking and helping his sisters with schoolwork. Anything to help ease the weight on his Mom's shoulders.
"Think of this as no different." Ozpin said, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Except now I run the risk of being flung across Vale or getting third degree burns." Jaune replied dryly.
"Nonsense. I'm sure your Aura would allow you to survive." Ozpin smiled. He couldn't help but notice that the headmaster didn't really disagree with him. "Can I take this to say that you agree to my proposal? I would like to hear you say it"
Jaune is pretty sure he doesn't have a choice in this, with Ozpin revealing him secrets like this and having the threat of his transcripts over his head. Still, even if that didn't happen, after hearing the backstory of some these Maidens, he couldn't exactly ignore them. "Very well. I doubt I'll be much help, but I will join you." He said, getting up and putting his hand out
Ozpin smiled, doing the same and shaking his hand. "Thank you, Jaune. You have no idea how relieved I am." He said.
"So, what happens now?" Jaune asked.
"For now, rest. Since you'll be a staff member and have no place of residence in Vale, I shall give you a private room." Ozpin said. "Tomorrow is Initiation and I would like you to be there, alongside Summer so you can start getting acquainted with the students and your new colleagues. Welcome to Beacon, Jaune Arc. I hope you don't regret this."
…Why do I feel you just jinxed this?
The beginning is a bit similar to the original one, but after this we are going to deviate a bit.
So yeah, Jaune is a T.A. I thought of making him part of JNPR, but then I couldn't really connect him with the Maidens (better name than Team MILF) because they can't have teacher-student relationships. So I decided him to join the staff at Beacon. Hey, if Ozpin can make a girl skip two years the day before an entrance exam, he can definitely make someone a teacher on short notice!
As for Ozpin's reasoning to recruit Jaune, it was a bit hard to do so than in the original, because in the original, you had the argument of the age gap and trust, not to mention Jaune's experience with his sisters. In here that doesn't apply as much, so I tried to add more reasonings to make it sound plausible, even changing Jaune's experience. Oh, but don't think everything has been revealed yet. We are only on the tip of the iceberg.
Now as you can see, I have begun showing some of the Maiden's background and some changes, the most important one being that Ghira, Taiyang, Jacques are dead. They were dead in the original idea of this and I would like to keep some connection to that idea. Also obviously, I couldn't have Jacques be with any of these characters if their husbands were alive! Though Willow might be ok with it...
Second big change is Summer. If you couldn't tell, she is obviously alive in this, but she ain't exactly hunky dory. You will see why in the next chapter.
As for the other three... Eh, you will have to see what I have planned for them.
Now, this isn't something I usually do, but I live vendetta's so much, I decided to give it a try. Enjoy my first Omake ever!
Omake
Jaune accepted the job and shook hands with Ozpin.
They were startled by a sudden scream from behind him. "NO!"
Jaune turned around and saw… himself? Well, not literally himself. His hair was cut, he was definitely more muscular, oh and he was wearing nothing but his underwear.
"You fool!" His copy yelled at him. "You doomed us all!"
"Uh, what?" Jaune said, confused. He turned around to look at Ozpin, who was just as confused as he was. He turned back around to see that his other self managed to shorten the gap between them and was now very close to his personal space, even grabbing him by the collar.
"Do you realize what hell you've signed up for!? The hell you're going to go through!? The horrors that await you in the future!?" He shouted while shaking Jaune.
"W-W-What?" Jaune said, confused. "Wait, are you me from the future?"
"No, I'm your long lost twin that was separated from birth. OF COURSE I'M YOU FROM THE FUTURE!" His copy yelled out, shaking him even harder. "Do you realize what awaits us?! Let me tell you! You-"
"Jaune~~"
Multiple voices echoed throughout the office, but he had no idea where. Jaune looked at his copy and saw his face go as white as a sheet, probably even the rest of his body.
"Oh no, they found me." The copy said as Jaune could feel him trembling out of fear. "They followed the sound of our thicc ass cheeks."
"I'm sorry, the sound of our WHAT!?" Jaune asked, but his other self didn't seem to hear him as he dropped him.
"THEY'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!" The copy shouted before sprinting towards the window and crashing through it. Before Jaune could comment, he saw something fly past him at remarkable speed out the window.
"Was that a raven passing by just now?" Jaune asked.
Ozpin merely took a sip of his beverage.
