Welcome everybody to a very special occasion. Today, or rather yesterday, as I've hinted at in the last few updates, is my tenth anniversary of joining this site. So today, I'm staging another special update. Not much different from normal updates, just to mark the occasion. This of course is Part I. Last time, Spyro, Cynder, Hondo, Chris, and Tan arrived the bakery from which the van that Christina Summer was kidnapped into, and were immediately beset upon by men dressed in suits, oddly just like Christina described when she bumped into Cynder and Deacon the first time. It seems like there's something going on here after all. So, what dreadful secrets await beyond this point? Read on to discover...
(Our scene resumes back in SWAT HQ where Hicks is looking over the situation as the siege at the bakery occurs. And just as things wrap up, Officer Azaria and Inspector Lesus walk in, having received the urgent message)
Officer Azaria: Is it true? You've found Christina?
Hicks: (Seeing his comrades have arrived) Yes, we have. I just wish the result were better.
Officer Azaria: (Realizing what this means) No...
Inspector Lesus: Are there any leads as to her killers?
Hicks: (Surprised that Inspector Lesus knew before he even said it) Yes, the van used in her kidnapping was traced to a local bakery. We have officers checking it out now. They must've just cleared the place. They'll call me if they find anything.
Inspector Lesus: Good to know.
(As Hicks eyes Inspector Lesus suspiciously, we transition back to the bakery, where Cynder has just made her discovery and told the rest of the team about it.)
Cynder: If this is what I think it is, we've just uncovered one of the biggest secrets we've seen since coming to Los Angeles.
Hondo: What is it?
Cynder: Profiles, I think. And guess who they are.
Spyro: Our five disappearances.
Cynder: Not just them, but countless others! And all of them have one thing in common.
Chris: (Slightly worried) That being?
Cynder: A price tag.
Hondo: Human trafficking.
Spyro: So these aren't profiles, they're sales receipts.
Cynder: Exactly. And based on the shipping addresses, these are traffickers to the rich and powerful.
Tan: (Looking over some of the receipts) Cynder's right. These are some pretty high society neighborhoods.
Cynder: How much do you want to bet this is how they can afford so many people on staff without costing them a fortune?
Spyro: What monster could be behind this?
Cynder: That's what's blowing my mind. Look at the name that authorized all these sales.
(Hondo takes a look at the name, and Spyro glances at it afterwards, and both of them are shocked)
Hondo: Son of a bitch.
Spyro: You've got to be kidding me.
Hondo: And Hicks has him in the office right now.
Spyro: We've got to warn him.
(With that, we transition back to SWAT HQ, where Officer Azaria continues to watch the screen, while Hicks pulls aside Inspector Lesus, confronting him on his suspicions)
Inspector Lesus: You said you wanted to talk to me?
Hicks: Yes, there's one thing that's been bugging me since this conversation started.
Inspector Lesus: That being?
Hicks: How'd you know that Christina Summer had been murdered before I said it?
(At this point, Inspector Lesus is getting nervous. It seems a secret has been uncovered.)
Inspector Lesus: (Nervously) Well... I mean... the way you described it... it didn't sound good so... I just... assumed she was dead?
Hicks: That's an easy assumption to make. How did you know she'd been killed?
Inspector Lesus: (Now really nervous) Please, don't ask me...
Hicks: I think Christina deserves an answer, even in death.
(In this moment, Hicks' phone rings, which he answers, putting it on speaker for some reason.)
Hicks: What is it Hondo?
Hondo: (Over the phone) Christina Summer was a victim of human trafficking. And the mastermind is in the room with you right now.
Hicks: I've already cornered Inspector Lesus.
Inspector Lesus: (Now looking at Hicks scared) You think that was me?!
Hicks: Sounds like your name is on everything.
Hondo: (Having heard this whole exchange) Wait what? Hicks, what are you talking about? It's...
(But before Hondo can reveal the guilty party, Hicks is shot in the shoulder before a second bullet shatters his phone. And soon the two turn to reveal the real mastermind of all of this: Officer Moe Azaria, who is aiming his standard issue weapon at both Hicks and Lesus.)
Officer Azaria: That's enough out of you.
(And as the truth sets in, our scene ends for today)
This concludes Part I of the Tenth Anniversary special. For Part II, head on over to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. So, Officer Azaria is the villain behind all of this! I know there's people looking at me weird through the screen, so I'll say this. Did you really expect me to have the true mastermind be the guy who's name translated as "frankly sus"? He was a red herring all along, just to distract from Officer Azaria. And now the endgame approaches. Next time, SWAT will have to break into their own base to take down the villain. So, how's that going to go? Tune in next time to start finding out! Same time... same channel!
