HP Girls: Day 6: Partners in Debut
Hearthome City, Sinnoh. 15th February 2023. 6:55am.
Leaf knocked on Zoey's door. Loudly. She held her breath as Zoey groggily unlocked her door. Leaf waved as the door opened. Zoey's eyes widened. "Leaf? What're you doing here at this hour?" she asked. Leaf smiled politely. "Well, I was hoping you could do my wardrobe earlier today?" she requested. Zoey blinked, but smiled anyways. "Sure. Come on in."
Leaf entered the room as told. Zoey motioned for her to sit, before disappearing around the corner. "Could the clothes be a little formal?" Leaf called after her. A second later Zoey's arm poked out from behind the mount of racks; a thumbs up. Leaf nodded. "Thanks,"
A few minutes later, the redhead came out from the corner. She handed Leaf her outfit: A plain black velvet puff sleeve dress that went down to mid-thigh, along with a pair of black heels and a white clutch. Leaf thanked her and went over to Lyra's makeup studio.
Lyra opened the door cheerfully. "Hey Leaf! What's up?" she asked brightly. "Hey…I have a meeting early today. Do you mind doing my hair and makeup for me?" Leaf asked hesitantly. Lyra smiled politely. "Sure, no problem. But uh, I have someone over right now, so…" she looked at the brunette questioningly. Leaf smiled. "It's no problem. Thank you." Lyra turned her back at Leaf and walked in. "Mhm,"
Lyra turned to Leaf. "Okay, how about you sit here, and I'll be right back?" she asked. "Sure," Leaf replied, as she sat down in her seat. Lyra smiled and thanked her before entering a room a few feet away. "Hey Silver," she called. "Could you stay in here for a bit? Leaf came over to get her makeup done," she told him. Silver frowned. "Already? It's like…7:10a.m," Lyra shot him a small smile. "I know. She told me she had a meeting early though," she reasoned. Silver sighed. "Fine. But be quick, 'Kay?" Lyra smiled and nodded before heading out.
Leaf got on some winged eyeliner, two shades of lipsticks, foundation, and some mascara. She thanked Lyra and quickly headed out over to her brother's hairdressing studio where he straightened her hair. She smiled at him. "Okay, bye!" He waved back enthusiastically. "Bye! And tell the dudes I said good luck!" Leaf glanced at him from the corner. "Will do," she said before running down the stairs to the entrance.
"Hey Leaf!" Ash greeted cheerfully as he approached her with a big smile. Leaf smiled widely at him. "Hey Ash! Where are the others?" she asked. "Right here," The brunette whirled around to face Drew, Gary, and Paul. "Hey you guys!" she exclaimed happily. She turned to Paul. "Paul. You actually came," she said, her voice etched with disbelief. Gary snorted. "Do you know how much effort it takes to drag a 160 pound ice cube?" he joked. Leaf put her hands over her mouth and giggled cutely, making Gary blush slightly. "You look good," he commented. Leaf turned pink. "Thanks," she replied shyly.
Drew cleared his throat. "Anyways, thanks for giving us an opportunity." he smiled. He'd always wanted to be a performer. Hopefully that dream would come true today. He'd even wrote some lyrics for himself, just in case they asked him to demonstrate. Leaf grinned. "Of course! Now, follow me," she motioned for them to follow behind her.
She was just about to walk down a corner, when suddenly- "Ouch!" Iris exclaimed as her files dropped on her head all at once. Leaf gasped and helped her up immediately."Iris! Oh, I'm so sorry!" she spoke hurriedly. Iris rubbed her head. "It's alright," she said, wincing a little as Leaf handed her her files back. Ash stepped forward. "Hey Leaf, who's this?" he asked, excited to make a new friend. Leaf put an arm around the purple headed woman. "This is our wonderful manager, Iris." she told them. Iris waved.
"Well, it was nice running into you, Iris!" Leaf waved as she and the boys ran down the hall to the vocals classroom. Leaf motioned for them to sit in their chairs just as Serena entered. "Hey Leaf! Hello boys!" The group waved, eager to get started. Serena smiled. "How about we start with an introduction? I'm Serena Yvonne," she said. Ash grinned. "I'm Ash Ketchum, from Pallet Town." he spoke enthusiastically. Serena smiled warmly at him. "Gary Oak, from Pallet," He smiled. "Paul. Veilstone." Paul grumbled. Drew laughed lightly. "Sorry about him. He's Paul Rebolledo, and I'm Drew Hayden, from Larousse, Hoenn." Serena blinked and her face coloured slightly. "Alright, let's get started!"
The boys all walked to the recording room reluctantly. Serena had handed them each a music sheet and some lyrics. The boys nodded. Serena started the music.

The music ended, and both Leaf and Serena applauded the boys. "Wow, you all are very similar to the girls! You might actually be on the same level as them!" Serena exclaimed, looking through her notes while sneaking a glance at Drew. "Excuse me, can I use the washroom?" Drew asked politely. Serena nodded as her face turned pink. "Sure. Go straight, then left. You'll know where to go from there," she told him as he headed out the door.
He walked a few steps before turning to a corner. "Oh. I see what she meant." he muttered to himself as he looked at the huge sign pointing to the male restrooms. Back in the classroom, the boys had started to chat already, and Leaf and Serena were discussing the boys' performance. Serena nodded. "I think they would make great performers. We just need to see them in other areas, like stage presence, acting, dance, and rap-"
"Serena!" Calem barged in through the door, making everyone look at the young mentor. Drew waved nervously from behind him. Serena stood up next to her, quite handsome in her opinion, friend. "Calem! What a nice surprise! What brings you here?" she asked, batting her eyelashes slightly. The raven haired man patted Drew's back. "This dude, Drew Hayden?" he said. "He's so good at rapping! Look, he wrote this rap himself," he motioned for the green haired boy to start. Drew cleared his throat.
Toned, tan, fit n' ready
Turn it up, cause it's getting heavy
Wild, wild, west coast
These are the girls I love the most
I mean the one, I mean like she's the one
Kiss her, touch her, squeeze her buns,
The girl's a freak, she drive a jeep
And live on the beach
Venice beach and palm springs
Summertime is everything
Homeboys, banging out,
All that ass, hanging out,
Bikinis, zucchinis, martinis, no weenies,
Just a king, and a queenie
Serena blinked as her face exploded in colour. "You wrote that?" she asked incredulously. Drew nodded, a little overwhelmed. The honey blonde applauded him. "That was amazing! Where did you learn to write and rap like that?" she asked. Drew scratched the back of his head. "Ah…It wasn't that good," he replied modestly. "And it just…sorta, comes to me naturally, you know?" he said. Serena smiled and nodded. "Yeah…I get it. Anyways, let's see how you all do," she said.
A few hours later, the trial session was done, and so was the boys' energy. Drew grabbed some water. "Damn, that was a lot of work," he said in between gulps. Gary and Paul nodded tiredly. Ash had already fallen asleep, exhausted from the day's work. Leaf approached them after having a chat with the mentors. "So, boys," she clapped her hands to get their attention.
Ash immediately sat up. "Who? What?" he asked, looking around frantically. Leaf rolled her eyes. "Well, I have some good news," she smiled. "You're going to start practicing with us tomorrow!" she announced. The boys cheered tiredly. "And, you'e getting your room and your roommate assigned in a second. By the way-" "Rooms are ready!"
The boys ran towards the door. "The schedules will be at your desks tomorrow!" she called after them. She then dialled a number. "Hello? Yes, we need a meeting tomorrow after seven…"
Gary, Ash, Drew, and Paul walked to the door, where they saw a tall man with green hair. The man waved. "Hello boys, I'm Cilan, your songwriting mentor," he smiled warmly. "Allow me to lead you to your rooms…" he said as he started walking, the boys not too far behind him. Cilan stopped at a door beside the girls' room. "Here we are." he said pointing to the door beside May and Misty's room. "That's Drew and Gary's room, number 234," he informed them. "And the one across from them, 237, is Paul and Ash's,"
The boys ran into their designated rooms: Drew and Gary had a green and purple theme in their room, with two black wooden bed frames with purple and green sheets on them. At the window side beside the green bed was a desk fit for three, and a lamp atop the table. At the front was a TV with two posters of the Joker on either side. "Cool…" Gary remarked, running his hand over the bed frame. "I call green!" Drew exclaimed suddenly, jumping onto the bed. Gary pouted. "Dude, come on!" He groaned. Drew just shrugged.
Gary rolled his eyes and laid down on the purple bed. In the room across from them, Ash and Paul had already claimed their beds; the black one for Paul, and the blue one for Ash. Their room was split into two block colours: black and blue. The blue was Ash's side, and the black was Paul's. Beside the black bed was a balcony, letting in light from outside. The room was decorated with many guitars that were hanging from the walls.
Hearthome City, Sinnoh. 15th February, 2023. 10:31am.
Dawn tapped Red on the shoulder. "Hmm?" he turned around quizzically. "Have you seen Leaf? I couldn't find her since-" "I'm here!" the door barged open to reveal a tired and sweaty Leaf. "Leaf!" May exclaimed happily, getting up from her seat. Red whipped his head to face her. "Wait! Don't-!" CRASH! He slapped his forehead. "-Do that," he finished lamely.
Misty ran to help her friend, her high ponytail whipping around as she did so. May laughed nervously. "Sorry," she said before turning back to Leaf. "Where were you?" she asked. "And why are you dressed so fancy?" Dawn asked, pointing at her formal attire. Leaf smiled. "The boys will practice with us from now!" she cheered. The girls all gasped before gathering around Leaf. Suddenly, the P.A system went off. "Could the HP Girls please report to their designated classrooms? HP Girls, to their classrooms, thank you,"
The girls exchanged looks before running off to either vocals or rapping. Misty and Leaf went into vocals. "Hey Serena!" they chorused. Serena smiled at them. "Hey! Come, take a seat," she said. The girls looked at each other before shrugging and doing as told. Serena went up front. "So, as you all probably know, Ash Ketchum, Gary Oak, Paul Rebolledo, and uh," she blushed a little. "Drew Hayden," Misty raised an eyebrow at Serena. "-will be joining our company. Now, today, Drew did a rap, that would fit great on your song California Gurls, Misty," she said, nodding to the redhead.
The honey blonde then turned around and pressed a green button on the wall. It made a beep sound before a male voice broke through a speaker. "Hello Ms. Serena, this is Alain, manager of Ghost Guitar. How may I help you?" he asked. Misty looked at Leaf confusedly. Who was Ghost Guitar? "Drew Hayden, please." She spoke sweetly into the speaker. There was a pause on the other end. "Sure, one sec,"
A few minutes later, Drew stepped in through the door. "Hey, you needed me?" he asked. Serena practically melted on the spot. He had clearly just taken a shower; his hair was wet and seemed like a darker colour than usual. He's only a year younger than me, right? she thought to herself, giggling quietly. Drew snapped his fingers in front of her face. Serena blushed. "Ah…sorry," she apologized. "Anyways, I invited you here because I think your rap would go great with this song Misty wrote…" she trailed off, approaching the green button again.
"Hello, this is Alain, manager of Ghost Guitar, how can I help you?" "Can we have May and Dawn come to vocals classroom for a bit?" she asked. They heard a shuffle of papers at the other end. "Sure…" Drew grinned. May would be here with him! Misty raised her hand. "Yes?" Serena asked. "Who's Ghost Guitar?" Misty asked. "Oh, it's the boys' band name," Serena replied nonchalantly. "Really? Cool!" Drew exclaimed. Serena smiled at him, turning pink. Suddenly, the door opened, and in stepped Dawn, May, and Calem.
"Hey Serena!" they greeted. Serena waved. "Hello!" she smiled and blushed as Calem gave her a friendly pat on the shoulder. May's eyes lit up as she saw her favourite grasshead. "Drew!" she exclaimed happily, running to hug him. Drew picked her up easily. "Hey," he greeted. Serena grew annoyed. How could May just steal one of her crushes? Just like that? She was so much better looking than fucking, May!
"Well," Serena cleared her throat. "How about you all do whatever for like…twenty minutes or so, while we," she motioned to herself and Calem. "-create a guide for you to follow?" she asked sweetly. Drew raised a brow at the tone, but nodded nevertheless. Serena and Calem went off to a corner, while the HP Girls and Drew stayed where they were.
"So," Misty said, turning to Drew. "You guys' band name is Ghost Guitar," she made an imaginary plank in the air. "Pretty cool, huh?" Leaf smiled proudly. "I came up with it," she winked. Dawn tapped her chin. Then, she gasped. "No you didn't!" she exclaimed. Leaf faced her. "What?" she asked, confused. Dawn folded her arms. "You didn't come up with the name! I did! Remember?"
Last Night…
"Okay! Fine!" Misty yelled as she dunked her face into a whole bowl of mayonnaise. "Oh my god! She actually did it!" Leaf laughed hysterically as May fell on her back laughing. Dawn wiped tears from her eyes. "No way!" she exclaimed as she burst into another fit of giggles.
Misty pulled her head out of the sauce. "You will regret this, Dawn!" she yelled. "I don't ever wanna see mayo again in my life!" she wailed as she raced to the bathroom to wipe off the mayo. "No I won't!" Dawn called from behind her, chuckling lightly. Then, she whispered to the girls. "The only thing I suck at, is coming up with names on the spot," she giggled softly. Leaf and May burst out laughing. "Actually?" Leaf asked, raising both of her eyebrows. Dawn nodded and laughed.
Misty sat back down. "What do you not like?" she asked, tapping her chin. "Naming things," Leaf coughed before she cleared her throat. "Sorry, had to cough there," she winked. Dawn swatted her arm. "Traitor!" she screeched childishly. May just laughed while Misty, who was grinning like a Cheshire Cat, shook her head. "Okay then…" Misty scratched her head.
"Make up a name for the dudes' non-existent band," she nodded to herself, looking at the bluenette. May nudged the redhead. "Thinking about the dudes again, are we?" she asked, her eyes bright with a mischievous glow. Misty hit her arm. "May!" she whined. "Misty!" Leaf whined back mockingly before they all burst into fits of laughter.
All the while, Dawn had been very quiet, thinking about the name. Then, she looked up. "I got it!" she exclaimed. They all turned to face her. "What?" Dawn smacked her forehead. "The name, you idiots!" she rolled her eyes. "Ghost Town," she sighed dramatically. Her friends giggled. "What? You don't like it?" Dawn frowned. "It sounds like a fucking horror movie," Misty snorted. May nodded her head in agreement, laughing. "Yeah, like one of those ones where the main character is like bitchy and stubborn and wants to like go 'explore' some new city or something, and a ghost captures them, and they're all like," May cleared her throat. "No! Help! Help! Let me GO!" she pretended to be the main character. Leaf and Misty laughed, wiping tears from their eyes.
"That was perfect!" Misty pointed at the short haired brunette as they gave each other a high-five. Dawn pouted. "Well, it was still a good name!" she insisted. May grinned. "It definitely was," she agreed. Dawn looked around the room. Surely, there would be something… "Guitar!" she exclaimed as the others looked at her amusedly. "What?" Misty asked. "Ghost Guitar," Dawn stated. "That's a good name, isn't it?" she looked at her friends nervously.
Leaf blinked. "Uh, yeah! That's a great name!" she said. Dawn smiled, relieved. "See? I'm so good at this," she chuckled. Misty laughed behind a closed mouth. "Mhm," she grinned. "Totally didn't take you twenty minutes to figure that out," Dawn smiled goofily. "Nope." "Not at all." "Never."
Present day…
Leaf stuck her tongue out. "I may have stolen your idea…" she admitted quietly. Dawn stared at her for a second before they both started laughing. "It's okay!" Dawn responded brightly. "No need to worry!" May and Drew chuckled along with them. "Well that was pointless," Drew pointed out amusedly. May giggled. "Yeah. But that's why I love 'em!" she winked. Drew laughed and put an arm around May's shoulder, to which May beamed.
Serena chose that moment to interrupt. "Guys! We're ready!" she exclaimed, trying to sound upbeat. Calem tapped her shoulder. She whirled around, blushing. "How about we have them have a listen to the guide right now?" he suggested. "Then, we can send them to the studio, and possibly record our first song!" he grinned. Serena nodded. "This'll be a good song for the second or third album. Definitely not the first, though." She reminded him. He smiled. "I know. It's still a good song though. Remember when we first started and sang your song? And I rapped and you sang?"
Serena smiled softly. Of course she remembered; it was her first day living in the dorms, and she couldn't sleep. She'd went down to the music room to sing and play the piano. A few songs later, as she was singing, another voice joined in; a male voice, who'd later introduced himself as Calem. She'd immediately taken a liking to him and had a couple weeks later fallen completely head over heels for the teen. He was funny and polite, bur mature and guarded at the same time. A while later, she gave up waiting and tried to move on, failing miserably each time. She cringed at herself, but knew she had to keep going and save herself from her biggest heartbreak: Calem.
"Hey," A voice behind them spoke up. Serena's face flushed a light shade of pink. "Drew!" she exclaimed. Drew scratched his head. "Uh. Yeah." He replied awkwardly. "What do we do now…?" he asked. Calem pointed to the recording room. "Tell Misty to go in there. And then you all could sit over there," he instructed, now motioning to the chairs behind him. Drew nodded and went off to set up.
A few minutes later, Misty was in the recording room, listening to the guide. "Ready?" Serena asked through the microphone. Misty nodded. Serena played the instrumental.
I know a place
Where the grass is really greener
"Perfect!" Serena grinned, saving the recording. "How about we take it from the prechorus part one?"
You could travel the world
But nothing comes close to the golden coast
"Nice," Calem commented. "Part two,"
Once you party with uh-us
You'll be falling in love
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Serena tapped her chin. "How about you try putting a slight edge onto party, us, and love?" she suggested. "Sure," Misty said. "Like this?"
A few hours later, they were all done. "That was amazing!" Cilan complimented. "Yeah! That was great!" Iris cheered from beside him. Silver just gave them a proud nod; a nod of approval. Calem and Serena applauded them. Alain swept his black hair out of his face. "Good job," he acknowledged them with a half-grin. They blushed from the attention. "Thank you," they chorused.
Serena giggled at their faces. "We should celebrate!" she suggested. Everyone nodded. "Yeah! And we could invite everyone," he nudged Silver, who swatted him away. "Even Lyra," he sang. Silver groaned. May turned to Misty. "No way! Silver likes Lyra?" she asked, her eyes wide. Misty chuckled. "Clearly." Serena cleared her throat.
"Okay people, we're having pizza tomorrow night, kapishe?" The room cheered. "I'll text everyone!" Iris offered. "Sure!" Serena grinned. "I'll pay!" Jimmy called as he entered the room with Marina tagging behind. Serena smiled at the couple. "Alright! So everyone, meet up right here at 5:00, tomorrow! See you all then!" She waved as everyone left the room.
Then, she turned to face Leaf. "Hey, Leaf," she called. Leaf jogged up to the honey blonde. "Serena! What's up?" she asked. "Could you do me a small favour and get Clemont down here? I need him to put the song together and store it for your second album." she told Leaf. The brunette gave her a thumbs up before running down the hallway.
"I'm excited," Serena whirled around to face Calem. "Mhm," she hummed, her face morphing into a beet red colour. "Bye, everyone! Thanks for having me!" Drew waved as he left. Serena put a hand on her heart and waved, though there was one thing wrong; her heart didn't flutter like it did for Calem. Serena looked down at her chest.
Calem followed her eyes, but immediately turned red once he saw what she was looking at. "I'll uh, go now," he told her, trying to keep his cool as he exited the classroom. "Bye!" Ah, there it was. The flutter.
Clemont entered the room. "Hey Serena!" he smiled. Serena grinned. "Clemont! Do you mind editing and saving these recordings for the girls' second album?" Clemont nodded. "No prob." he said sitting on a chair. Serena sat beside him. "Okay, girls, we'll see you all tomorrow, okay? And don't forget the party! Bye!" she waved for the last time.
May, Misty, Dawn, and Leaf went back to their rooms. "Whew!" Dawn said, flopping onto May's bed. Leaf sat up. "I'm bored!" she whined. "Movie night?" Misty offered, grabbing the remote. "Hell yeah!" May roared, jumping to the spot beside Misty. "I'm in!" Dawn yelled, sitting upright on May's bed, Leaf in tow. "What movie?" Misty asked.
"Cinderella!"
"Romeo and Juliet!"
"Harry Potter!"
They all looked at Leaf. She shrugged. "What? I like Harry Potter," she reasoned. Misty folded her arms. "Well, I wanted to watch Titanic," she stated. Soon, they were all at each other's heads about what movie to watch. May soon got tired of it. "Stop it!" she yelled. They paused. "How about we pick the movies out of a hat?" she suggested.
"Romeo and Juliet," Misty read. "Yes!" Dawn cheered. They watched the movie, happy to be able to have some time to just hang out.
