At Fairy Tail
It was quite the normal day at the Fairy Tail Guild Hall. Everyone was around, talking and being all friendly and what not. Surprisingly, it was a pretty relaxing day as there was no brawls breaking out within the guild hall, something Fairy Tail was most known for having.
Suddenly, the doors of the guild hall burst open. The source of this eruption came from a group that had gone out on a mission of their own.
"WE MADE IT BACK ALIVE!!"
"AYE, SIR!"
"Hey! Keep the noise to a minimum you two!"
"Come now Lucy, I'll deal with those two."
"It sure feels great to be back"
"Hmph, I must say, Happy and Natsu almost got us killed back there"
An energetic pink haired boy along with his blue cat, a blonde haired girl who had a pocket of keys around her waist and a whip, a red haired woman who gave off a strong and prideful aura while also being decked out in impressive armor, and a young, blue haired girl with her white cat had returned to Fairy Tail.
"Hey look everybody, Natsu and the gang are back!"
Natsu, the pink haired wizard of Fairy Tail, was a rambunctious and energetic mage. He specialized in Fire type magic, but his is known as "Fire Dragon Slayer Magic." He is usually the one that gets into fights with Gray but he and Gray are usually sorted out by Erza. Natsu is extremely strong and could be a contender for S-class status, which is the highest rank a guild member can achieve.
His Blue cat is named Happy. While resembling a cat, he's actually more known as a race called "Exceed." Happy is able to generate wings on his back and fly at fast speeds. He is also a big fish fanatic.
"Man, that was a fun mission, wasn't it Happy?" Natsu asked. The pink haired boy was clearly fired up after their mission
"Aye Sir! We totally owned that mission!"Happy exclaimed, just as fired up as his friend.
Natsu feels himself getting hit in the back of the head
"Idiot! You're lucky we managed to stop you before you destroyed more of that town!" The blonde girl yelled out.
This girl was Lucy Heartfilia. Natsu was the first ever person she met when coming to Fairy Tail and was able to make great friends overtime. She is a celestial mage which means she's able to summon celestial beings to do her bidding.
"And the reward money...WE DIDN'T TAKE IT!!" Lucy cried out dramatically.
Lucy also had a habit of being behind on her rent..
Lucy then felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry Lucy, I'll help you out with the rent if you'd like?" The red haired woman offered.
This was Erza Scarlet. One of the S rank mages among the Fairy Tail guild and considered to be one of the strongest mages in Fairy Tail. She had known Natsu since she was young and was her first ever friend at Fairy Tail. She also bonded well with Lucy when she joined. Her magic is Requip Magic which allows her to change into all sorts of different armor.
"Really? Thank you Erza!" Lucy cried happy tears while hugging Erza
The young blue haired girl and the white exceed walked up next to Natsu. This girl is Wendy Marvell. Like Natsu, she uses dragon slayer magic, but instead of fire she uses Wind Dragon Slayer Magic. She also has an exceed named Carla who, like Happy, could also use wings to fly, but she was more sophisticated than Happy.
"That sure was a fun mission though! Minus, the buildings getting destroyed." Wendy said while sweatdropping a bit
Natsu pat her head and exclaimed happily "Yea, you get it Wendy!"
"Aye!" Happy exclaimed
Carla then hit Happy on the head
"Natsu! Happy! You two have got to be more considerate of the area around you. You keep up the way you destroy these places, you're going to give Fairy Tail a worse rep than it already has." Carla scolded. Natsu just gave a sheepish nod while Happy just gawked at Carla lovingly, which made her blush a bit and turn away.
As Natsu and the rest of them decide to relax, Lucy went up to the bar and decided to sit down and get a drink.
"Ah, jeez. That mission was such a pain. I can't believe Natsu just felt the need to burn everything in the surrounding area! He's such a pyromaniac, it isn't even funny! Erza too! She's a bit much at times. At least Wendy and Carla are considerate, despite Wendy having such strong power. Sigh...honestly, I need a drink right now, thanks Mirajane." Lucy said, not looking up as she was just so exhausted.
"..."
Lucy then realized after a few minutes that Mirajane had not responded. She looked up at the beautiful, white long haired mage and gained a bit of a concerned look. Mirajane was zoning out but she looked to be...worried.
"Mira?"
Mirajane snapped out of it and turned to Lucy
"O-Oh, Lucy? When did you get here?" Mirajane asked, a bit startled by Lucy's presence
"I've been here for like 5 minutes. You okay, Mira?" Lucy asked, concerned for her friend
Mirajane sighed and just looked down
"I-I'm fine, thank you Lucy. It's just that..."
Lucy looked at Mirajane as she paused. She was trying to figure out why Mirajane looked so upset. Just then, Lucy looked to her right and saw that another girl sat down next to her. She also had white hair but it was on the shorter side
"Lisanna?" Lucy said
Lisanna flashed a bit of a smile
"Hey there Lucy. How was the mission?" Lisanna said
"It was good, besides Natsu destroying literally EVERYTHING!" Lucy said with rage
Lisanna just chuckled as she knew about Natsu's rampage. Lisanna then turned to her sister, Mirajane, and frowned a bit when she saw Mirajane's worried look. Lucy noticed this.
"Sis, I'm sure he'll turn up eventually. Don't forget, he's strong and he's part of Fairy Tail's strongest team." Lisanna patted her sister on the shoulder. Mirajane responded by closing her eyes.
"What's going on?" Lucy asked
Lisanna sighed and sat back in her seat
"It's Gray. He took an A-Rank Mission around the time you guys left. He wanted to do a mission alone. We received word that he completed it...but it's been 3 days and he hasn't come back to the guild hall." Lisanna said, concern in her voice.
Lucy looked shocked by this. An A-Rank mission should be nothing for Gray. Lucy felt as though Gray was equal in strength with Natsu. Heck, they fought Tartoros and Gray held his own. Lisanna even said that Gray had completed the mission, so Lucy could not understand why Gray had not returned. There were no major enemies that she knew of that were around right now, so what?
"I do hope Gray is okay...something bad could have happened to him...Lucy!" Mirajane said, turning to Lucy who looked at her with a bit of a shock.
"Please, you along with Natsu, Erza, and Wendy should go look for Gray! He's part of your team. Everyone has been trying their best to look for Gray, but no luck. Here, this is the request he took on. Go to that location and look for clues." Mirajane says as she hands her the paper.
Lucy reads the paper and sighs as she puts it in her pocket
"You can count on me Mira. We'll find Gray." Lucy says with determination
Mirajane and Lisanna smile as they were confident that if anybody were to get Gray back, it would be Team Natsu.
At Natsu's Table
Lucy walks back to the table where Natsu, Erza, Wendy, Happy, and Carla were sitting. Natsu and Happy were being dumb, Erza was eating some cake, and Wendy and Carla were...packing?
"Wendy, Carla, are you two going somewhere?" Lucy asked
"Well, you see-" Carla was about to say something before Wendy interrupted her
"I'm too excited to be sitting around so I took on another job! We have to leave right now Carla!" Wendy exclaimed with excitement
"Now hold on just a-" Before Carla could finish that statement, Wendy grabbed her and ran off in excitement.
"W-wait! Wendy!" Lucy called out after her but she was practically out of earshot
Natsu just laughed
"Hahaha! Man, it's funny when she's all pumped like that! I like it!" Natsu laughed, eating some meat
"Aye!" Happy said, eating fish
Erza just hummed softly as she ate her cake
Lucy just sighed and sat down, looking at the flyer. Natsu, Happy, and Erza notice her looking at the flyer
"What's that Lucy? Another mission?" Erza asked, curiously.
"Aw yea! More fun!" Natsu exclaimed happily
"Aye!" Happy said
"Well...sort of.." Lucy said, uncertainty in her voice
Erza could tell Lucy felt a bit uneasy
"Lucy, is something wrong?" Erza asked with a serious tone
Before Lucy could speak, Natsu decided to say something
"Huh, where's that ice princess anyway? I figured he'd be back at the guild." Natsu said, looking for Gray
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Wendy left but we can't wait for her, we have to do this now. It's important and Mirajane personally asked us to do this." Lucy said in a serious tone
Erza listened while Natsu's and Happy's attention were directed toward Lucy after hearing her talk in a serious manner.
Lucy then took a breath.
"Gray...he went missing after he completed this A-rank mission." Lucy said
Natsu, Happy, and Erza looked shocked from this, especially Natsu.
"What?! What do you mean he went missing?!" Natsu yelled, slamming his fist on the table
"He didn't come back to the guild?" Happy said, a bit worried
"No...he completed the mission, but it's been 3 days since then and he just hasn't come back." Lucy said
"He wouldn't have made any pit stops either, he's usually the type to be extremely tired after a mission so he would have wanted to come to the guild straight away then home." Erza said
"I know! That's why it's so strange that he would up and disappear like this!" Lucy exclaimed, worried
Lucy then showed them the full flyer
"Mirajane told us to go look for him. Here's the details of where we have to go. But, many of us have been looking for him already so I'm not sure how much help this will be.." Lucy said
"It's worth a shot. Come on guys, let's get ready." Erza said
15 minutes later..
Natsu, Erza, Lucy, and Happy set off from the entrance of Fairy Tail, with the rest of the members wishing them off and giving them the "Good Lucks" on finding Gray.
"Wherever you are, Gray, we'll find you." Natsu thought to himself as they set off.
At the mission area
Team Natsu had arrived in the town where Gray had his mission. They looked around and saw that there wasn't much wrong here.
"Okay everyone, split up and find any sort of clue that can lead us to Gray" Erza commanded
"Right!" Everyone else exclaimed
They all set off in separate directions, looking for clues to find their friend. Natsu asked an old woman but could not find anything. He then started to eat her fire which in turn caused him to be pushed out. Happy asked a little boy if he knew anything but he didn't remember him. Lucy talked to 2 guys but they just decided to hit on her so she in turn whipped them into oblivion. For Erza...
Erza knocked on a door. This house was a bit secluded from the other houses. After she knocked, an old man opened the door.
"Hello?" The old man answered
"Hello, we're members of the Fairy Tail Guild. We were wondering if one of our mages was in this town a few days ago to deal with a monster?" Erza asked, hopeful
"A monster...Ah yes, Gray was his name, if I recall" The old man said.
Erza looked at him in delight.
"Yes! Yes! That's him! And he did complete the mission, correct?" Erza interrogated.
"Yes, he beat the monster. He was a courageous young fellow." The old man said as he remembered how Gray took out the monster.
"He's gone missing, do you have any idea of where he could have gone?" Erza asked
"He went missing...? Oh boy, not again...no, I'm sorry, I don't really know much.." The old man said
As Erza sighed and was about to leave, his response was a bit off to her
"Wait...did you say...not again?" Erza asked
The old man sighed and nodded
"Yes...for some reason, every mage that has come here has suddenly disappeared and we have their guildmates coming back for them. I'm sorry to say, but he must be as good as dead.." The old man said quietly.
Erza shook her head
"I refuse to believe Gray died. He was a strong mage. Please, if you could tell me something that will be useful for finding him, anything at all!" Erza asked desperately
The old man widened his eyes a bit before closing his eyes
"You must truly believe he's alive. All of the others would accept defeat quickly and give up...everyone but you it would seem...very well...take this.." The old man handed her a paper
Erza took the paper and examined it. It was the address to a...? Erza looked at the paper, a bit confused
"Um...what is this?" Erza asked in confusion
The old man chuckled
"What, never heard of a hangar before? Ah, you must not. These babies called airplanes have been invented recently and my friend just so happened to make his own. His hangar is in a private area so if you come to him with this paper, he'll know I sent you." The old man said
Erza didn't really get it but she smiled and nodded before running off. As Erza ran back where they split up, she was surprised to see everyone there. Natsu's face looked a bit banged up, Lucy was red, and Happy was eating fish.
"Guys, I've gotten a clue!" Erza said
The rest of them perked up at this
"Really?" Lucy asked, shocked
"Alright Erza!" Natsu exclaimed
"Aye! Erza's our man!" Happy exclaimed
"Not a man.." Lucy sighed
"Follow me, this paper will take us where to go" Erza said, walking off while the rest of them followed after her.
At an unknown location
A man was tending to a machine that seemed to be an "airplane." While the man was tending to it, he heard the gates to his area unlock. He turned and saw Erza and the team enter.
"Oi! Who are y'all? How did you find out about this place??" The old man interrogated, a bit suspicious of them.
Erza walked up to him and showed him the paper. As the old man read the paper, he realized who wrote this paper and sighed as he put the paper in his back pocket.
"I see, so Ol' Billy sent you, hm?" The old man sighed
"Well, what can I do for ya? As you can see, yes, I'm building airplanes-" The man was cut off as he saw Natsu and Happy touching his plane curiously. "Oi! Off my plane!" The man exclaimed and chased them off the plane.
Lucy sighed at their behavior while Erza talked to the man.
"Your friend sent us to you so we could investigate further into our friend's disappearance. If you know anything or if you have anything to aid us, that would be greatly appreciated." Erza said.
The old man removed his cigarette and tossed it in a trash bin
"I see, another one went missing, eh? Normally, I wouldn't really be caring...but...something's been happening over on the Ol' Starfall Islands the past 3 days and I just can't shake the bad feeling" The man said.
Erza and Lucy looked at him, unfamiliar by the name he just mentioned.
"Starfall...Islands?" Lucy asked. Lucy was sure she had never heard of that name before. Levy did a scan on the map of the world for her and not once did Levy write down the words "Starfall Islands."
"Ah yea, y'all have never heard of the Ol' Starfall Islands, huh?" The old man asked
"No, I have no knowledge on these "Starfall Islands." Erza said firmly
"Makes sense, they're not even on the map" The man said
This makes Lucy and Erza wide eye a bit. Natsu and Happy were busy gawking at the plane
"It's...not on the map of the world? How is that possible?" Lucy asked
"Agh, as far as I know, these islands have been around for many years, not once have I ever seen it on any sort of map" The old man scratched his head
The old man then gained a serious look
"Though, if what you're saying is true, your friend must be on those Starfall Islands. What he's doing, I'm not sure. Heck, he could be dead for all I know...but, if there's one place he could've disappeared to, it's those mysterious islands." The old man said. He then got up from his chair and pointed out to the water.
"The islands aren't visible from this distance. But, once you fly out there, they'll start coming into view. Even though they don't appear on the map, they're not that far. You should reach the islands in about 2-3 hours." The old man said
"How are we supposed to get all the way over there?!" Lucy exclaimed, ready to give up
Erza turned to the man. "I'm guessing this is where you come into play."
The old man sighed.
"Yea yea, you can use my planes. Only because I'm so interested in those islands myself, I expect you to tell me about them! That's your mission!" The old man laughed to himself as he gave Erza the keys
Natsu got a bit nervous
"Uh, is this a veichle of some sort? I don't think I can...OOLP-" Natsu gagged
"Man down!" Happy cried out
Lucy and Erza just sweatdropped, forgetting Natsu's motion sickness. Lucy wished Wendy had not ran off. They could've really used her.
The old man walked up to Natsu with a bottle of blue liquid
"Alright buddy, open wide." The old man said as he poured the bottle into Natsu's mouth. Natsu then blinked before standing back up
"Hey, I'm all better! Thanks plane guy!" Natsu grinned and gave him a thumbs up
"Sure sure, no problem. I'd take some with you, just in case. My friend had motion sickness so I whipped up some elixirs to completely rid of it. Usually last the whole day." The old man said as he handed 3 to Lucy.
"Thank you!" Lucy said
On the runway
They brought the plane out to the runway, facing off in the direction of which he told them to fly towards. Erza and Lucy sat in the plane as it was a 2 seater. Natsu stood on top of the wings while Happy was getting ready to fly.
"Natsu, I really don't think it's a good idea for you to be up there! What if you fall off? We won't be able to get you!" Lucy said, worried for Natsu.
Natsu just grinned at her, totally excited.
"You kidding? This is AWESOME! No motion sickness for a whole day?? Aw yea! I feel invincible! And I'm totally standing on this! This is way more awesome than just sitting down! I get to see how cool this thing is from this close up!" Natsu exclaimed, extremely happy while Lucy just sweatdropped and sighed.
"Aye, don't worry Lucy. If he falls, I'll catch him." Happy said
"We're wasting time! If he says he's fine, he's fine. We must go find Gray!" Erza demanded
"Right!" Everyone exclaimed
The man watched from behind as they began to take off. Erza was smart so he decided to teach her how to use the plane. It wasn't anything too fancy so she figured even she should get the hang of it. The old man smirked a bit.
"Good luck." The old man said to himself
Erza started the engine and the plane began to move slowly. Lucy, Happy, and Erza were in awe while Natsu was laughing happily. As the plane began to speed up, it began to lift off the air before it completely took off, straight for the destination of the Starfall islands. Lucy looked back and couldn't believe how far they were already, but she was extremely excited herself. Erza looked determined. Happy was amazed by how the plane could move so high and fast. Natsu was grinning with excitement, feeling the wind on his body as he stood up on the wings of the plane. It was exhilarating.
"Alright! Starfall Islands! Here we come!" Natsu shouts out in excitement as the plane flies off, heading for their destination.
Next stop, the Starfall Islands. We're coming...Gray.
A/N: Hello everyone, the boring parts are finally out of the way, now it's time for the main part of the story to kick off! I tried hard to make this part make sense. I made Gray's somewhat similar to the Divergence Prologue, but I wanted to make it a bit different from the Convergence prologue. I also had to change up many things just to make certain things make sense. And no, Wendy will not be part of this story, sorry : I want to focus on THE main 4 of Fairy Tail. I hope some things made sense here, I'm up at like 4 am as of this A/N. If there are any errors I made, please let me know.
