Confession Is Good For The Soul-Ch 4
Derek picked Penelope up and carried her bridal style toward the waiting SUV's, he looked at her ripped dress and said, "are you alright sweetness, did he, did he hurt you?", she shook her head and said, "no, you all got here before he could, before he could", she then laid her head down on his shoulder and once again allowed the tears to fall.
A few minutes later the team walked through the door of the ER leading the way for Derek who was carrying Penelope, she didn't want to be very far away from him, from any of the team but especially not Derek. Hotch had flashed his badge and filled the doctors and nurses in quickly about what had happened to Penelope, they had all found out on the ride to the ER that she's been injected with a type of a strong truth serum, bloodwork was quickly ordered and Penelope was asked to follow them.
Still terrified she shook her head no and buried her head in Dereks neck, Derek said, "she's been like this since we found her, can I go with her?", the doctor saw the relief on Penelope's face when he suggested it and she agreee. Derek turned to face the rest of the team and told them that he was going to go with her and that he would update them as soon as he could, they all nodded their heads yes in agreement and watched as Derek carried his baby girl out of sight around the corner.
The doctor led Derek into a room, he gently placed her down on the bed and stood behind her, she quickly grabbed his hand and said, "please don't leave me", he gently squeezed her hand and said, "don't worry baby girl, I'm not going anywhere". She then relaxed as the doctor drew several tubes of blood to send off so they could see what kind of trush serum they were dealing with, so they would know how to treat her.
When the two of them were left alone in the room she started shaking, Derek said, "Penelope, baby girl are you cold?", she shook her head and said, "no", she then got really quiet and sat looking down at her hands that were in her lap. Derek kissed the top of her head and said, "I'm so sorry that this happened to you sweetness, you didn't deserve this, you of all people didn't deserve this", she looked up at him, he touched her tear stained face and said, "is there anything I can do for you?", she scooted over and said, "can you hold me?", he weakly smiled and sat down on the bed beside her.
He then gently wrapped his arms around her, she laid her head down on his shoulder and said, "thank you", he said, "you don't have to thank me, I'd do anything that you asked me to sweetness, I would do anything to keep you safe and make you happy". Penelope looked up at him as he cleared his throat and said, "baby girl", she said, "yes angelfish?", he caressed her cheek and said, "he opened his mouth to speak but was cut off when the doctor came into the room.
Penelope and Derek watched as she started an IV and hung a bag of IV solution, Derek said, "are the results back already?", the doctor shook her head and said, "no, but I'm going to go ahead and start running some fluid into her so that way when we figure out what we're working with I can inject a syringe into this port and get started with the antidote", Derek and Penelope nodded their heads yes in agreement as they continued to watch the doctor.
When the doctor was done with the IV she said, "I'll be back as soon as I know what we're working with here, I have a good idea but I want to be sure", Derek said, "what side effects are we going to be working with here?", the doctor said, "She's going to be highly succeptible to telling the truth when anything is asked of her, at least until the drug is completely out of her system", Derek nodded his head and said, "what about any physical side effects?", the doctor said, "I'm almost positive that she was given a strong does of a barbituate called Pentothal".
Derek and Penelope listened as she said, "the side effects are nausea, hypotension which is low blood pressure, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness and a skin rash, those are the main ones that are usually associated with that particular drug". She then looked at Penelope and said, "do you have any of those symptoms yet Penelope?", she said, "I have a headache, a little nauseated, a little dizzy and I'm getting sleepy" as her eyes started closing".
The doctor said, "the IV fluids will help flush the drugs out of her system but it will take some time so be really careful what you say to her, especially if you ask her anything", Derek nodded his head and said, "thank you doctor", she smiled and said, "I'll go put a rush on those blood results", she then turned around and walked out of the room leaving Derek and Penelope alone again.
Derek sat holding her for a few minutes before he figured she was asleep, he then gently kissed the top of her head and whispered, "I love you baby girl, I've always loved you and that's never gonna change, you'll always be the only woman that I'll ever love". Derek sighed and said, "if only I knew how you truly felt about me", her eyes opened up and she looked up at him and said, "that's easy, I'm head over heels in love with you too", they sat there looking at each other for what felt like hours before she leaned in and gently brushed her lips against his in a soft, gentle but loving kiss.
