SCP-953 was pacing around her cell with a look of confusion and irritation on her face. She was considering ripping her own head off because for whatever reason she couldn't stop thinking of Dr. Bright and every time she did she felt a warm cozy feeling in her chest. 'He's just a human, food he's a pet at most.' She thought. Yet deep in her heart she didn't believe that. She growled and punched her containment wall. 'Maybe he's different, maybe he can be something more than just a pet or food.' She thought before growing again and marching towards her couch where she distracted herself with books. 'Disgusting thoughts, absolutely revolting me being freinds with a human? I rather die than make the foolish mistake of trusting a human again.'
Test 5*
few hours later her containment door slid open and saw a familiar grinning face. Dr. Bright quickly entered the room and the door instantly slammed shut behind him.
Without thinking she closed her book and was smiling with her tails frantically moving behind her. She then noticed Jack had an odd look on his face. She then realized why and her face turned a deep shade of red.
"Aww, you're happy to see me for once!" Dr. Bright declared with a goofy grin.
The kumiho then grabbed her book and hurled it at Dr. Brights face. Dr. Bright chuckled, dodging the book with flair. "Well, well, Foxy, didn't expect such enthusiasm. You're quite adorable sometimes, you know."
SCP-953 growled, attempting to regain her composure. "Shut the hell up human before I make you gargle your own heart! And don't flatter yourself. I was merely frustrated with the boredom, not happy to see you."
Dr. Bright smirked, "Sure, sure. Deny it all you want, but I've got a sixth sense for these things."
The Kumiho growled even louder and gave him the finger.
Dr. Bright frowned. "Well that's not very nice, also where did you even learn that from?"
The Kumiho rolled her eyes. "I been around for many centuries so naturally I've learned a few things from you humans."
"Oh well that makes sense anyway I see you reading all the time tell me what's your favorite book?" Dr. Bright asked curiously while approaching the couch she sat on.
She then got up and walked towards her book shelf before pulling out a large green book with a wolf on it.
"Ah, that would be "Predator's Dance." It beautifully delves into the primal joy of the hunt, the exquisite dance between predator and prey. The visceral descriptions of the power dynamic and the thrill of pursuing one's target are truly captivating." The Kumiho said with a small smile.
Dr. Bright raised an eyebrow. "Sounds intense. I assume it's not a romance novel?
The Kumiho rolled her eyes and smirked. "Far from it, human. It's a celebration of the animalistic instincts and the pleasure derived from the suffering of others. Quite entertaining, don't you think?"
Dr. Bright didn't want to hurt her feelings or sound rude so he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck before responding. "Eh, yeah sounds really cool I'll definitely have to read it sometime." He said nervously.
The Kumiho could tell he was lying to appease her and she wondered just how well he would cover up his lies. "If so how about you be a good little pet and read it to your master." She said with a smirk.
Dr. Bright gulped. This really wasn't how he wanted to spent today cross-test. He put on a fake smile and made his way over to her couch where he sat alongside her but made sure not to sit to close to her. She handed him the book before turning towards him and sitting criss cross.
"Okay I'm reading it." Dr. Bright said before he started to read the book to her.
Around twenty minutes later and the Kumiho was very pleased. Her little pet has been reading non stop for her entertainment and he actually seems to be enjoying it. She then remembered something he told her the other day.
As Dr. Bright was reading he noticed SCP-953 reaching towards his head. At first he thought he somehow messed up and was going to be butchered as punishment but was surprised when she started to pet him like how an owner pets there dog.
"Uh, are you petting me?" Dr. Bright asked.
SCP-953 grinned, her tails swishing behind her as she continued to absentmindedly pet Dr. Bright's head. "I'm just ensuring my little pet remains content while he reads for me. You're surprisingly tolerable when you're being useful."
Dr. Bright, though slightly bewildered, couldn't help but chuckle nervously. "I guess being a 'pet' has its perks, huh?"
She then frowned and lightly pressed a single clawed finger to his head causing it to slightly bleed. "Did I give you permission to stop?" She said as she licked her bloody finger.
"Okay I'll keep reading, but after could I touch your ears? There really soft and fluffy." Dr. Bright asked.
She growled slightly before letting him go. "Just finish the book and I'll consider it, then you can go back to your insignificant existence." She wouldn't tell a soul but she loved the last time he pet her ears.
Meanwhile the 05 council watched with amazement.
"Magnificent, SCP-953 is showing a human affection." Said 05-2.
"Based on the footage we've seen recently I think it may have developed romantic feelings for Dr. Bright which is unprecedented considering she see humans as mere toys."
05-3 chuckled. "Romantic feelings huh? Thats hilarious but also incredibly intriguing."
"We should continue these tests and if they keep providing good results then maybe Dr. Bright can eventually persuade her to be more cooperative with foundation personnel. Then maybe we can learn more of her origin." Said 05-1.
"And if not that then perhaps in the future we can see if SCP-953 and Dr. Bright are biologically compatible, if so we could train the offspring to be obedient to us." Said 05-5.
Back with Dr. Bright and his Foxy friend he just got done reading the entire book to her. It took him around two hours of nonstop reading. But if it was worth it remains to be seen.
Dr. Bright closed the book and took a deep breath. "Well, that was… quite the experience. Unique, I'll give it that. A real page-turner in its own twisted way."
SCP-953, her tails swishing behind her, tilted her head. "So, did you enjoy the dance between predator and prey?"
Dr. Bright chuckled nervously. "Enjoy might be a strong word. Let's say it was enlightening, kept me on my toes. Definitely not your average bedtime story, that's for sure, now about your ears..."
The Kumiho pretended to sigh in annoyance before leaning towards him. "Be quick about it."
Dr. Bright grinned widely and he eagerly placed a hand on her soft fox like ears. "Aw, just as soft as I remember." He said before gentle petting her.
SCP-953 groaned in defiance. She really was appreciating his touch but it made the warm feeling in her chest grow stronger and she hated it. She also really hated how she had the urge to snuggle close to him. 'This is so pathetic how can I let a human touch me like this? I can't allow myself to enjoy it, I will not be betrayed again.' She thought.
"Aw, I can tell your enjoying this Foxy, you think I can't see that smile?" Dr. Bright teased.
SCP-953 frowned, trying to maintain her composure. "Don't get any ideas, pet. This doesn't mean anything. It's just… a two-time thing."
The researchers observed the surveillance footage. Dr. Brown and Dr. Martin wore smiles, evidently moved by the scene. Dr. Lopez maintained a focused gaze, diligently jotting down notes. In contrast, Dr. Adams appeared visibly irritated, possibly harboring jealousy towards Dr. Bright's abilities.
"Why does he care for it so much?" Dr. Adams complained.
"I think it's adorable, it's kinda like one of those sit coms." Dr. Martin said.
"I'm personally proud of Jack, not many people can say they stole the heart of a keter-class SCP especially SCP-953, at this point I wouldn't doubt if he managed to befriend SCP-682." Dr. Brown joked with a chuckle.
Dr. Lopez didn't say anything she just continued to watch and write stuff down.
SCP-953 could feel a smile threatening to appear so she quickly shoved Dr. Bright hand off her with an irritated expression.
"Enough!" The Kumiho said with a pout.
Dr. Bright grinned at her. "Aw, what's the matter?" He teased.
The Kumiho crossed her arms and scooted away from him. "I'm sick of you, making me feel confused, making me question myself it's beyond irritating."
Dr. Bright frowned and adopted a serious expression. "Could you elaborate more?" He asked as politely as possible.
The Kumiho looked towards the ground in embarrassment.
"I... It's just that..." SCP-953 hesitated, grappling with her feelings. "I never anticipated... these emotions. It's vexing, having these strange reactions to your presence."
Dr. Bright leaned in, his demeanor more earnest. "Feelings can be complicated, even for someone like you. What's bothering you specifically?"
The Kumiho avoided eye contact. "I can't comprehend why I'm drawn to your company. It defies my nature as a creature of chaos and deceit. You should be nothing more than prey to me."
Dr. Bright offered a comforting smile. "Sometimes, connections defy logic. Maybe there's more to both of us than meets the eye."
SCP-953 scoffed, struggling to articulate her internal turmoil. "It's infuriating. I'm supposed to be a fearsome entity, not tangled in these emotions. I don't want to care about a mere human. I can't to that never again."
Dr. Bright placed a hand on her shoulder, a gesture of reassurance. "Feelings don't follow rules. It's okay to be conflicted. And I don't know anything about your past but it sounds like you were deeply hurt by a human, you don't have to tell me anything you don't want to but know this I'm not like most humans and I can promise you I will never betray you."
The Kumiho shot him a skeptical look, torn between her nature and the unexpected emotions. "I can't afford to be vulnerable. It's a weakness, I learned that the hard way."
Dr. Bright gently replied, "Whatever happened to you in the past is the the past, accepting your emotions isn't a weakness it's a strength you may have been hurt once but that doesn't mean it was because you were weak."
SCP-953 sighed, torn between conflicting instincts. "This is infuriatingly confusing. I loathe it."
Dr. Bright chuckled. "Welcome to the perplexing world of emotions. It's messy, but it's what makes us alive."
The Kumiho grumbled but didn't push him away, contemplating the intricate web of emotions entangling her immortal existence.
The Kumiho grumbled something under her breath.
"What was that?" Dr. Bright asked.
The Kumiho sighed and looked into Dr. Brights eyes. "It looks like you followed through after all, though it pains me to admit it, I've grown fond of you with that being said maybe our relationship can be more than predator or prey."
Dr. Bright regained his goofy smile and all seriousness vanished from him in an instant. "So we're officially friends now?" He said with a teasing voice.
SCP-953 growled. "Yes." She said with anger evident in her voice.
Dr. Bright scooted closer to her and after putting an arm around her he started rambling. "This is great, now maybe if you promise to be nice the 05 will lower your class to safe then we can get up to all kinds of fun, ooo, maybe we can start a book club or maybe-"
She aggressively pushed his arm off before growling. "You're incredibly annoying you know that?"
Dr. Bright chuckled seemingly unfazed by her comment. "Annoyingly delightful I'd say, now that book club idea may be a stretch but there's all kind of other things we can get up to."
The kumiho smirked. "I like the mischievous look in your eyes, but just because I hold you to a higher standard now doesn't mean I'll tolerate your absurd ideas, and don't you dare think my treatment of you will be extended to anyone else. Let me be clear you are the only exception I have."
"Will you at least try to reframe from violently ripping peoples liver out and devouring it?" Dr. Bright pleaded.
The Kumiho scoffed. "And why should I?
"Behave, and I might just have the charm to persuade the O5 to grant you a bit more freedom." Dr. Bright proposed, suggesting that her cooperation could lead to supervised vacations away from the containment site.
The Kumiho ears flickered and she grew a smile. "Vacation you say? Fine I'll try, but if anyone looks at me wrong or even breaths in my direction, they're getting skinned alive."
Dr. Bright chuckled nervously. "Let's aim for a violence-free vacation, Foxy. Trust me, it'll be much more enjoyable for both of us that way."
After the test was over and Dr. Bright yet again left her cell unfazed she was left by herself once more. 'I'll make one more exception, but if he ever betrays me I will kill and tourture every one he knows and loves while he watches.' She thought darkly.
After there test for today concluded Dr. Bright alongside most the researchers besides Dr. Adams contacted the site director and asked to submit a request for the 05 but to there surprise he told them the 05 were already aware of the request and will give them and answer tomorrow.
The researchers, intrigued and surprised, exchanged puzzled glances among themselves. Dr. Bright, with his characteristic grin remarked "Well, looks like the big shots are on top of things. Let's hope for a decent answer tomorrow guys."
The uncertainty lingered, leaving the researchers to eagerly await the O5 Council's response.
Inside the O5s' office, a solemn discussion unfolded regarding the request.
"Considering the success of these tests, granting the request seems appropriate. With Dr. Bright present, I believe she'll maintain compliance." asserted O5-3.
O5-5, ever cautious, interjected, "Agreed, but let's deploy a specialized Mobile Task Force to monitor their every move, just in case."
Expressing concern, O5-4 added, "I'm hesitant. If something goes awry and she escapes, innocent civilians could be in jeopardy."
O5-2, confident in their decisions, countered, "That's why our top operatives will be overseeing the situation; they've handled challenges more severe than SCP-953."
Seeking consensus, O5-1 remarked, "I'm pleased we share the same perspective. Granting this request might foster SCP-953's cooperation with us, and having our best operatives in place ensures security."
Hey whoever decides to read this i just wanted to say i appreciate it, and stay tuned i promise the next chapter should be the most intriguing one yet. Also be warned sometimes I realize after already publishing a chapter that i made a few mistakes or may notice something I don't like so if dialogue slightly changes in the future don't be surprised.
