Okay guys I'm so sorry I had issues with my internet all day and just got it up and running. I hope ya'll can forgive me.
Chapter 14
My mouth seems to be glued shut. The seal seems to be broken however by the scene of him pressing a kiss to her lips. It's like cold water on my face.
"What in the hell is going on here?" My voice is fighting to stay calm.
Tasha's turns to him, pulling his face back to her before he can meet my eyes. "She's a danger to us all. She's going to kill everyone here, you need to stop her." heavy with compulsion.
No he's not going to do anything to me is he? "Tasha, what are you doing?"
"Setting him free, you little bloodwhore we all know you lied to him about the bastard child you're growing and the little bitch of a daughter. They aren't his with you gone. We'll have a chance to be together and he'll realize what a mistake he made with you."
SHE. IS. INSANE.
"You really think he'll be okay after he kills me? After he kills his unborn child?" I'm desperate and she can tell.
"He will get over it, once he has children that are really his. With me."
Dimitri moves toward me clouded in darkness. The love and playful taunt is nowhere to be found. It's been a long time since we have fought and while we both are still very fit, Dimitri hasn't fought since that day years ago. I have spent the last three years continuing to train as best I can. Only now I'm exhausted and trying hard to avoid any contact with my stomach. Both our moves are coming out sloppy and undefined. He lands a hard blow to my face, and I feel running down my nose.
"Dimitri it's me, come on come back." My voice is desperate.
"You're trying to hurt my family, I will not let you." His voice is deadly, there's no bringing him back. I don't have all the energy I need to finish this, but I can't give up. I'm not just fighting for me. The thought spurs me passes slowly until we are both coated in sweat. I lose my footing and Dimitri slams into me. We tumble into the night stand smashing it. My head pounds louding in my ears as the noise echoes through the house, Dimitris eyes grow darker as his hands wrap around my neck. I push against him but it's useless. The world starts to fade away into the darkness. Fuzzed off in the distance I hear the door open and see Lennon come in holding her teddy bear. The last thing I hear is the sweet little voice quiver "Daddy?" before the dark takes me. I leave praying he'll snap out of it before she gets hurt.
Bright light pulses against my eyes. Soft warmth envelopes me and I can feel a rough hand on mine. Sitting next to the bed is a very broken looking Russian. His eyes are heavy with bags even with them closed I can see the red trimming his face. His hair is greasy and dull. He has blood on his shirt and a few bruises line his face. I let my fingers wrap around mine. His head shoots up, his voice is husk. " You're awake."
"How long have I been out?" My voice sounds raw and dry.
His eyes fill with tears "Two days."
My heart aches and fears build as I make myself ask the next question "Is everything okay? The baby…" I can't finish.
He looks up devastation clear and I fear the worst. "The baby is fine Roza." I let myself breathe again.
"What's wrong ?"
"I'm so sorry, I could have cost us everything I could have cost Lennon her mother. I could have lost my family." he quivers, refusing to meet my eyes.
I pull him up "Come here." he looks confused "Come on I want to feel your arms around me."
"How can you want me to touch you after everything that happened? How can you trust me?" his voice leaks with self loathing.
"Because it wasn't you. It was Tasha. How did you break through what happened?" I don't want him to blame himself. It really wasn't his fault and everything is okay, I'm fine, the baby is fine Lennon is fine.
He nestles into my hair breathing deep as his arms wrap around me " Lennon broke me out of it. She started to scream for my mother and it pulled me back. I was able to grab Tasha without making eye contact. She's been arrested and your father is out for her blood." I feel his shiver against me.
"Is Lennon okay?" my heart breaks she had to see that and I pray it doesn't make her fear Dimitri.
"Yes, she didn't let me put her down for hours after. I was so scared she wouldn't -" I can feel his tears on the nape of my neck "I don't ever want her to look at me the way I look at my father. I don't want her to fear me."
"She loves her daddy and I don't think anything will change that."
"I can still never say sorry enough." he whispers against me.
I turn to face him cupping his cheek. "I love you."
"I love you too." I pull him toward me, kissing him softly trying to convey all my love and forgiveness into that single kiss. It doesn't take long for the kiss to turn desperate. Dimitris arms around me pulling me close as if I might disappear. Our clothes become loose piles on the floor and we try to mend the broken pieces, becoming one. Reminding each other we aren't going anywhere. We are in this together.
