Disclaimer: I don't own any characters from the Trolls franchise, I just own Melody.

A mystic melody.

"RWAAAAR! I'm gonna eat ya!"

The prince of the Bergens roared despite laughing quite a bit, pretending to stomp around like a big monster as he chased the little giggling tiny troll girl running from him. Melody giggled when she glanced over her shoulder and saw that Angus was catching up to her.

Prince Angus of the Bergens, son of king Gristle and queen Bridgette, had been lifelong friends with Melody practically since they were born. The Bergen's were glad to accept the new princess of the trolls and were even happier when Poppy was named their new prince's godmother and vice versa with the troll's princess with Gristle and Bridgette. So, every other week, Poppy (and sometimes Branch) would bring Melody over for a play date with Angus while Poppy and Bridgette would catch up on how their kingdoms were going.

This was one of those play dates.

The two decided to play a game of predator and prey, where Angus pretended to be a big and hungry Bergen determined to catch a small troll —just like it was back before either of them were even born.

It was their favourite game to play.

"Oh noooo...!" Mel pretended to cry out as she put one of her arms over her brow in a melodramatic fashion while she plopped down on her left side. She snickered to herself as she waited for the young Bergen prince to catch up with her and she smiled to herself as she feigned her fear. "I'm gonna be eaten!"

She the ground beneath her shake as a pair of two giant feet stopped in front of her.

"Ah! I got you now, pretty princess! Now face my nomming attack!" A young and rather adorable voice cried out.

Melody closed her eyes and stuck out her tongue and pretended to be dead as she felt a pair of hands gently slide under her and she was scooped up into the air. She lay completely still as the young Bergen brought her to his lips and, oh so gently, started nomming away at her in a way that didn't hurt her and tickled her instead.

"N-Noooo! HAHAHAHAHAHA-Angus-HAHAHAHA-That tickles!" She exclaimed through bursts of laughter.

Mel smiled up at her playmate.

Angus was a little pale gray Bergen with lime green hair. He resembled his father quite a bit with the exception of his skin colour, his short ears, his blue eyes and his more rounded face. He wore some brown dungarees with a burgundy cape wrapped around his neck and he had some rather endearing buck teeth matched with his sweet smile.

Angus was a sweet boy who was very compassionate for his age.

Poppy was absolutely thrilled to be his godmother and she couldn't have asked for a better godson.

The Bergen prince and pop troll princess were sharing a good and hearty laugh until their ears pricked up to the sound of their names being called.

"Melody/Angus!"

Their eyes softened as they panted breathlessly, trying to recover the oxygen they lost during their laughing fit, before Mel stood up in the palm of Angus' hand. The prince and princess didn't waste another second before they obediently frolicked through the stone hallways of the Bergen castle until they made it to the main throne room/the exit point.

They wanted to answer their parents call and not keep them waiting.

The two younglings skipped merrily along before stopping by Gristle's throne.

Melody hopped out of Angus' hand and ran to Poppy, who greeted her daughter with literal open arms.

"Mama!" She cried as she embraced Poppy after running into her arms.

Poppy fell to her knees and didn't hesitate to hug her daughter, especially not when she heard a familiar "ding" sound that came from her Hug time bracelet. She felt as Mel's arms furled around her neck as her girl stood on the tips of her toes to reach up; the queen's heart swelled in her chest as she felt her baby girl hug her so tight and then bury her face in the crook of her neck.

The queen of the pop trolls cherished having her baby in her arms.

It felt too soon until Melody pulled away from their hug and smiled up at her in a way that exposed her teeth, it also made her glittery freckled cheeks even chubbier than normal. Her eyes were huge and adoring as she seemed captivated by her mother's love.

Poppy pulled herself to her feet and grabbed her child's hand in hers.

The two turned around to see both Gristle and Bridgette who were quickly asking their son if he enjoyed himself before promptly turning their attention back to the two pop trolls stood before them. Gristle was lazily lounging about on the seat of his throat while Bridgette and got off of hers and dropped to her knees to meet the two small creatures on eye level.

Poppy grinned up at her friend and curtsied.

"I think it's time we head home, Melody's got to get to bed early tonight if she wants to party her head off tomorrow night." She announced as she picked Melody up and held her close, smiling at both Bridgette and Gristle as they started to bid her farewell.

Bridgette was more than happy to lean forwards and smiled down at little Melody with the most kindest expression she could muster.

"Have a happy birthday, Melody. We hope to see ya again very soon!"

Melody nodded and waved.

"Bye Aunty Bridget, bye Uncle Gristle, bye Angus!"

Angus approached and waved too.

"Bye bye, Melody! Bye Aunty Poppy!"

Poppy and Melody both smiled and waved back at the Bergen trio.

Poppy chuckled.

"Bye Angus. You too, Gristle and Bridgette! See you in two weeks?"

Bridgette nodded. "See you in two weeks. Besides, I'm almost done with your birthday gift from all three of us. I'll give it when you come by next time, okay?"

Melody giggled and nodded.

"Okay, Aunty Bridgette!"

Upon leaving Bergen town, the queen and princess pop trolls made their way home.

Since it was a days trip from the troll village to Bergen town and back; Poppy made this trek constantly and sang all the way and brought Melody with her a majority of those times. When Mel was just a baby, Branch insisted on coming at first but decided to stay back and protect the village from predators as she grew older and let Poppy and Mel have their visits with Bridget and Gristle.

Poppy hummed and sang all the way home with her daughter just waddling alongside her, listening to her mother's singing and just taking in her beautiful voice. She loved it when her mother sang and she even hummed along to harmonise with her but she couldn't help but feel this hint of inadequacy.

She could only ponder silently.

Melody glanced up at Poppy with a look of worry on her face.

"M-Mama? Can I ask you something?"

Poppy looked down at her daughter and nodded at her.

"Mmhm? What is it, my little sparkle?"

Melody just glanced down at her feet as she walked alongside her mother, shuffling her feet nervously as she walked through the mossy grass that led to pop troll village. She had something troubling her for quite a long time now and she that she could only bring it up with her mother as only she would be able to relate. She only held it off because she didn't want to bother her...but she knew that she needed to ask her sooner or later.

"Well, uh, can I ask...how you felt about being a princess?"

Poppy froze for a moment as her pleasant smile dropped into an instant frown.

"Melody, what brought this up?"

Melody just rubbed her arm anxiously, still unable to bring herself to look up at her mother.

Poppy decided to stop walking, so did the small periwinkle trolling, and she knelt down to meet her child more on eye level. She reached over and dropped a gentle hand on her daughter's shoulder in a gesture of affectionate reassurance.

"Sweetheart...you can always talk to me about anything. You do know that, right?"

Melody nodded her head sheepishly.

She exhaled and explained herself.

"I...I...l don't know if I'm cut out to be a princess. You and dad work so hard and it makes me wonder whether or not I'll be a good queen like you when I grow up!"

Poppy's frown became even bigger.

She had no idea that her only daughter felt that way, she recalled when she was younger and she (even though she had never told anyone) felt the very same way; she fretted about being a good queen and she would feel that constant nagging in the back of her mind. She worried about everybody not liking her or thinking she was good enough. Just the mere thought of Melody struggling with such thoughts, especially as her birthday was approaching, was heartbreaking.

She didn't want her baby feeling the same way she felt...and still sometimes felt to this day.

Poppy put on the most softest and sincere smile she could as she thought of the words to explain her early experiences of being queen.

"Being queen...there's a lot of pressure and loneliness, even though I had my friends, I felt like I needed to be great. I made me do some..." The queen of pop paused for a second to think of an appropriate word "...stupid things. But I had your father by my side helping me all the way, heck, he even protected me from turning into a rock zombie!"

Melody listened to her mother's words with awe, her eyes wide and her mouth agape.

Poppy looked down at her daughter, smiled and continued.

"Melody, I understand what you're trying to say. I get how scary it all is but listen to me. Whenever you're struggling and having trouble, your daddy and I will be right there to help and guide you. I promise with all my heart that I'll help you every step of the way. Okay?"

Poppy could see the assurance in her daughter's eyes —those same eyes that matched her own— and she could see that her words were having a pacifying affect and were successful in quelling her worries. Her heart swelled with relief as she saw that lovely and cherished smile return to her near-birthday girl's sweet little face.

Melody nodded her head.

"Okay!"

Poppy went to stand up again as she playfully rustled her tuft of hair.

"Thatta girl! Now, let's-"

She was cut off by the young troll before she could finish her sentence.

"Err...Mama...may I please...?"

Poppy smirked.

She knew what Melody wanted.

She was quick as she scooped Mel up by the underarms, lifted her up into the air and sat her atop her shoulders, giving her a piggy back ride. Melody giggled and laughed as she sat atop her mother's shoulders and she couldn't help but love every time her mother took an exaggerated step forwards that purposefully made her bounce up and down.

"C'mon, Melody! Let's get back to the pop village! We've got some visitors and a party to prepare for!"

A/N: Heres the newest chapter which introduces Angus, my Grisette (GristleXBridgette) child. I hope you guys enjoyed it and we have a heart-to-heart moment between Poppy and Melody that I made sure was as fluffy as possible.

You guys are awesome!

Btw, I looked at one of my previous chapters (prologue part 3) and realised it was wrong regarding the authors note. Just ignore it please.

Anyways, I heard from a review that this fic was making you guys feel a bit better about the current isolation everyone was going through and it makes me thrilled to hear that. I'm glad that I could help everyone.

Have a nice day, everyone.
