Harry apparated at Grimmuald Place a few hours after he walked Ginny back. He was sad that he wouldn't see his girlfriend for a few weeks, but at the same time, he was ecstatic to see his family, especially his little godson.
He walked up the street, admiring the falling snow shining in the light of sodium street lamps's yellow glow. He loved winter and its ambience.
Fortunately, the number 12 wasn't the same place it was many years ago. Gone was the whole darkness and grim aura. Gone was the smell of mustiness and fear. Now it was a bright and happy place, full of laughter and positivity. And pranks of course. It would be hard to omit this, looking at two marauders living there. There was no chance for a quiet Christmas with those two mutts. Merlin, he loved them.
He arrived at the entrance of Number 12 Grimmauld Place and nocked. The door opened and revealed the face of one Nymphadora Lupin. Harry faked shrieking in horror upon seeing her.
"Shit, Tonks, couldn't you morph into something nicer knowing I were coming?"
"Oh, haha, you arsehole!" She hissed hitting him hard on the shoulder.
"Ouch, violent as always aren't you? Poor Remus, I wonder how he holds up with you after three years."
Tonks hit him again, only harder. "Shut it you git! What do you want anyway?"
Harry put his hand on his heart acting hurt. "Why, to spend Christmas with you lot of course! What did you expect?"
Tonks only huffed and crossed her arms blocking his way inside.
"Oh, really? You won't welcome a poor old me? A Harry you all love and miss? You are breaking my heart!"
The mother of his Godson only looked at him unamused.
"Right. Get over it, two years have passed and you and your mother still hold a grudge against me. Isn't Christmas time for forgiveness?" Harry made sure to make his best puppy eyes Sirius taught him and, unlike Sirius, he could do this right. "And think of a poor Teddy, how sad he will be if his Godfather won't give him his Christmas hug and gift?"
"Ugh, alright you wanker, you can come in."
"Thank you, Nymphadora!" He passed her and gave her a big sloppy kiss on the cheek.
"Don't call me that!" She shouted after him.
"Sure!" He shouted back without looking at her.
Harry heard a patter of small feet running from the stairs and automatically knew it was little Teddy. Because of his sensitive senses, the little boy had to hear him. He didn't have to wait long before a small figure of his Godson ran straight to his legs. Harry scooped him and hugged him tightly. Teddy burrowed his head in the crook of Harry's neck.
"Hiya mate! Did you miss me?" Harry asked and Teddy nodded, never taking his head from Harry's neck, "I sure missed you!" He said kissing the toddler's turquoise hair.
"You have presents?" Teddy asked excitedly.
"Oh, I see. Present's better than your dearest godfather, huh pal? You have to wait until tomorrow, today you are stuck with me!" Harry pretended that he wanted to eat the little boy, on which Teddy shrieked and fought his laughter.
"Now, go find Mr. Snuffles and torment him from me, okay?" Teddy nodded hectically and ran to where Harry supposed Sirius was. He looked over his shoulder to see Tonks fighting a smile at the display of affection between Godfather and his Godson.
"See? You can't stay mad at me even if you want to!" Tonks only shook her head and walked past Harry, but couldn't keep her smile from her face.
They entered the kitchen where Sirius was doing something on the stove wearing a flowery apron Harry got him on his birthday. Teddy was pulling him on his legs from time to time. Remus was sitting at the table reading the Daily Prophet. Harry leaned on the wall and watched closely what Sirius was doing.
"You still want to poison us all, huh Padfoot?"
Sirius turned his head to where Harry's voice was coming from so fast that something cracked in his neck. Remus, who now noticed Harry's presence also turned his head to him, but much slower than Sirius.
"Harry!" Sirius shouted and with not even two seconds Harry was crushed with his embrace. "On Griffindor's dirty pants, you got skinny! Well, much skinnier than before, at least."
Harry got away from his over-excited Godfather and smiled, "I missed you too, you mutt." He turned to Remus who quietly walked to where they were standing. The werewolf gave Harry a one-armed hug.
"This idiot," Said Remus pointing at his best friend, "is constantly trying to play with food. I've got a diarrhoea last week because of him."
"Oh really? What about these scrambled eggs I made you yesterday?"
"I didn't vomit it in front of you only to not hurt your feelings!"
Harry shook his head and left them to their bantering. He moved to where the food Sirius had started making was. He tasted a bit only to spit it out. Yup, after all those years his Godfather was still good for nothing when it came to the kitchen. Harry opened a bin and threw out this… something Sirius made.
"It would be better if I started from the beginning," Harry sighed.
Sirius looked at him with betrayal in his eyes, "Even you, pup? When did you stop appreciating your old dogfather?"
Harry rolled his eyes, "Really, this pun got old like fifteen years ago. It's time to grow up Sirius. I assure you it won't hurt."
"Never!" He huffed and with a puffed chest and with his last bits of dignity walked out of the kitchen pouting.
Remus chuckled at his friends' antics, "He never really changes, doesn't he?"
"Nope."
Ginny's train stopped at the Ottery St. Catchpole station a few hours after she boarded it. On the platform, her father was waiting for her. He volunteered excitedly of course, as he could see the modern trains which he called a miracle of technology.
She greeted her dad and together they rode to the Burrow in their old Ford Anglia. She was ecstatic to see her family again, as for someone who grew up with some member of her family constantly by her side, it was hard to spend so much time away from them.
They got to their family home ten minutes later. Her dad took her baggage out of the car's trunk and took it inside. Her mother attacked her with a hug not even a second after she crossed the threshold of the Burrow. As always her mum made sure she wasn't too skinny and vowed to make her eat more.
She greeted her brothers, thankfully there were none of their friends this time and that delighted her endlessly. On the other hand, Hermione also didn't come as she was spending Christmas with her parents. Their letter exchange had to be enough for them for now.
They all sat for dinner their mother made and ate with relish. Really, her mother was the only cook in the world who could rival Harry. She wondered if she could make a contest between them once she introduced her boyfriend to her family. One thing was sure; she certainly wouldn't be hungry.
"Delicious as always, Mother," Percy praised ever pompously.
"Thank you, dear," Molly appreciated, then turned to Ginny, "And how's this boyfriend of yours?"
"We're great, thanks for asking," Ginny replied stiffly. She didn't trust herself not to blush if her mother asked some more specific question. Especially when she had their activities in mind.
"Surely. Looking at how you are glowing, more than before I may add, you are doing extremely well."
"Yes, we do."
"Do you want to tell me something?"
"No."
The other people in the room were looking between them clearly confused.
"Fine!"
Her father asked her if she got to know some new muggle thingies, and they talked a little about Bill and Charlie's works. She noticed that every time Harry was mentioned, her brothers automatically tensed. It angered her but she couldn't really do anything. She hoped that when they finally met him, they would start to love him as one of them, but with stubborn gits like Ron and Percy, it was unlikely. She vowed that she will protect her boyfriend no matter what from her brothers and their friends.
But today she planned to relax and enjoy Christmas with her family.
Harry was getting antsy, waiting for Andromeda Tonks to show up. He adored her to bits, but she could be just as stubborn as her charming daughter, if not more.
He still remembered fondly how warmly Andromeda and her husband Ted with young Dora in tow welcomed and accepted him after Sirius for the first time brought him to their home. They were his family and Tonks were practically his big sister despite not being related by blood. Unfortunately, Ted died in the war.
Harry grew up with them and cherished all the memories they made together. No matter how much Andi was stubborn, he would get her forgiveness for leaving without saying goodbye. How much time one could be offended after all?
He heard the main door getting opened and seconds later he saw that it was indeed Andromeda.
"Hello," Harry greeted with a small, nice smile.
"Oh, it's you, Potter," She said harshly.
Harry's face fell, "Really Andi, you are still mad at me? They say like mother, like daughter and now I think they are correct." Andromeda only hummed and didn't spare Harry even a glance. "Andi, please! I know it wasn't the right thing to do, but would you really let me go even if I said goodbye?"
Andi looked at him with cold and calculative eyes, "No. No, I wouldn't."
"Exactly! And you know why I had to leave. Please, Andi, it's almost Christmas, do you want another one tensed? Especially in front of Teddy?"
Andromeda sighed, "No. I guess we all deserved a little break."
Harry grinned and hugged his surrogate aunt, "I'm glad things are good between us now."
"Me too, Harry. Me too."
Later that day Harry, Sirius and Remus were playing in the wizarding version of the game of poker while enjoying their drinks of firewisky. Sirius was telling another story about one of his passing flings at Hogwarts, not that Harry and Remus paid him much attention.
"…And I tell you, her hair was so crimson that Griffindor's couldn't even compete! And her body, oh her body! Such a pretty thing she was…"
Harry couldn't help himself and smiled despite an incredible desire to stay collected. He thought of Ginny of course, and her perfect copper-red hair. The two marauders quickly noticed his goofy grin and knew that something was up.
"So tell us, pup."
"Huh?" Harry mumbled very subtly.
"Don't look at me like that! Tell us about this girl of yours!"
"I… err, I don't know what you are talking about. There is no girl." Harry knew that once the news about Ginny got out, he would not have even a minute of peace from all the teasing he would get.
"Mhm, of course, there is not. I was the one who taught you lying, pup! You can't hide anything from me even if you try your hardest! Now, speak up!"
"I said this before, and I say this again. There is no girl, Sirius."
"Oh, stop it. I can recognise Potter in love just like that! Just like your father you are, there is no doubt about it. When he was thinking about your mother, he wore the same silly grin."
"You want to give me 'the Talk' again, huh?"
"Of course I do! Everything to mortify you!"
"You really think you are in a place to give someone the Talk? You," Harry said pointing to Sirius, "are just a big child, and you Remus, you definitely don't know anything about safe sex."
Remus crossed his arms and huffed, "And how do you know that?"
"Well, for one, I don't think having Teddy in the middle of the war was planned."
Remus spluttered, "He was… well, he…"
Harry patted his arm, "You don't need to explain yourself, really. You're a grown man after all."
Harry didn't notice Sirius sneaking behind his back. The only thing he heard was the incantation of a full body-bind curse and after that, he could do nothing. Sirius quickly followed with the dangling jinx.
"Haha! You lost your reflexes, pup! Now, talk about this chick!"
Harry spent almost two hours hanging upside down and being tortured by the two marauders. They used all sorts of tingling jinxes on him and other sorts of spells they found 'funny'. Tonks also joined in the midway. Harry had to tell them everything as he was very ticklish. He doubted that anyone could endure this torture for this long. Fortunately, he was saved by Andromeda who didn't like fooling around. For the rest of the day, Harry got teased by almost everyone. Afterwards, Remus gave him a serious talk. Oh, how he missed them.
Before retiring to bed, Harry hatched a diabolical plan to prank his Godfather. Under the invisibility cloak, he snuck into Sirius' room and swiped a jar of tickling powder. With a wicked grin on his face, he tiptoed over to Sirius' beloved bed, the very spot where the dog would rest his paws after a long day of canine adventures.
Harry sprinkled the stolen powder all over the bed, transforming it into a fluffy, ticklish trap. Little did Sirius know, that his cosy sanctuary had been transformed into a tickling hall of torture. As soon as he nestled into his bed, the tickling powder sprang into action, tickling every inch of his not-so-furry body.
Sirius, bewildered and tickled beyond belief, couldn't help but roll around in uncontrollable laughter and unintentionally change into his animagus form. His paws flailed in the air, his tail wagged furiously, and his barks turned into hilarious snorts. Harry, hidden in the shadows, couldn't contain his laughter either. He watched with glee as Sirius became the jester of the night, his ticklish antics bringing joy to all who witnessed this furry spectacle. It was a sight to behold!
The next morning Harry woke up early to make breakfast for the whole family. As he entered the kitchen he met Tonks sitting at the table. She was apparently waiting for him.
"Have you time to talk?" Tonks asked.
"Yeah. What's the matter?"
"I… I just wanted to apologise for yesterday, and for giving you a hard time all this time."
Harry looked at her with shock. He didn't expect her to forgive him this quickly. He knew that apologising was hard for her, looking at how her pride was in the way.
"I thought what you said about Christmas and realised you are right," Tonks continued. "I… I still remember how much you have done for Teddy and I was acting like I wasn't grateful enough…"
Harry dismissed her worries with a flick of his hand and smiled gently, "Don't mention it." His expression turned serious. "But remember, you tickle me one more time like you did yesterday, you won't know my mercy."
Tonks chuckled, "Sure, you git."
Tonks of course was talking about the incident when Teddy was no older than five months. On this fateful night, Voldemort kidnaped little metamorphmagus to lure Harry into a trap. Harry of course, at neck-breaking speed went to rescue his godson. The Dark Lord left the Boy Who Lived with an ultimatum: keeping his life or sacrificing it for Teddy. Of course, Harry being Harry, hadn't even had to think twice. He sacrificed himself for Teddy just like his mother did for him.
Because of his mother's protection and the power of his sacrifice, he was able to come back to the world of living. He succeeded in surprising Voldemort and won the duel just as the remnant of the Order of the Phoenix apparated and took off the rest of Voldemort's followers.
That was the night of Voldemort's fall.
Since then, the fairytales and legends about the mythical Boy Who Lived got even worse. Even though there was no tangible proof that such someone ever existed, the Wizarding World still wanted to believe in it. Thankfully, now, over two years later, this whole cult about his person started to decrease and more and more people started to doubt his existence. Harry was more than happy to let them think that.
Harry made a light breakfast and waited for the others to wake up. Teddy, of course, very impatient because of the gifts waiting for him, barely touched his piece. After the breakfast, the whole family moved to the living room to unpack their presents.
Harry got Teddy a muggle toy train, for Sirius, he got a dog plaything and for Remus one of the best raw steaks he could find. It was one of their traditions; they always get each other something pointless and silly.
Next, Harry moved his attention to the present Ginny got him. It was a thin, oblong package containing a brand-new blanket. Before Christmas, they agreed to not buy anything expensive and fancy, as it was pointless. For the two of them only mattered that the other remembered, not what the gift was.
In the Burrow, Ginny unwrapped her gift from Harry and squealed excitedly. It was his jumper smelling just like him, one he never let her steal, no matter how hard she tried. And today he gave it willingly, it meant a lot to her.
Upon seeing what the gift was and her reaction to it, some of her brothers flushed angrily and her mother smiled in a nostalgic way.
Slowly, the preparation for the Christmas Dinner started. Harry and Andromeda were residing in the kitchen making all sorts of Christmas dishes. Tonks and Remus got the table ready and Sirius was fooling around with Teddy. Harry was happy that his godfather found someone on his maturity level.
The whole dinner went much better than last year. Gone was the tension created between Harry and the two Tonks women. Teddy, as cute as ever made everything better. They spent the evening laughing, conversating and teasing Harry about Ginny.
In the Burrow, as always atmosphere couldn't be better. The whole family gathering and interacting with each other was the best sight one could ever experience. The whole chaos, for some, could be unbearable, but to Ginny, it was a family thing. A family she loved with a whole heart.
As Harry and Ginny went to sleep in different places in the country, they thought of each other hoping to have many dreams. Harry fell asleep under his new blanket sprayed with Ginny's perfumes and Ginny wearing her new favourite Jumper.
