After returning from saving the Prometheus from hijackers, SG 1 reported to the conference room to fill General Hammond in on their adventure.
"So our unknown benefactor was monitoring the situation and had a theoretical solution that could and did help?" The General asked.
"Yes and Thor couldn't detect a ship nearby." Major Carter reported. "He thought a small cloaked vessel could be hiding nearby, which fits the description of the ship that moved that asteroid."
"They must not have been very far away, if they were aware of the Prometheus being hijacked in the first place." The General commented.
"They may be monitoring Earth in some way." Dr. Jackson said. "Thor says the Asgard monitor all hyperspace activity around Earth in case the Gou'ald attack via hyperspace. Which explains how they missed the asteroid and Anubis' mothership, that Thor's consciousness delivered to us."
"There's something else, sir. I think I may have met this Captain Alexander at some point, the name and voice seem familiar." Colonel O'Neill put in.
"Someone who made them self known to you at some point? An alien you met off world who decided to try to help? That would imply it's actually not a people helping, but just the members of this ship's crew, unless they convinced their leadership to allow them to help." The General speculated. "But it may be without their people's knowledge that they're trying to help us. But why would they help without their people's knowledge?"
"If they are real Ancients, then maybe they don't want to attract the attention of the Ascended." Jonas suggested. "They do mostly seem to want to avoid getting involved with us."
"True, or there's another possibility." Major Carter said. "Maybe, like Martin, the guy producing Wormhole Extreme, they're stranded here on Earth for some reason and saw a need and a way they could help."
"But why not reveal themselves to us?" Dr. Jackson questioned.
"At first they wouldn't have known who they could safely reveal themselves to, they still may not. They probably have no idea if they can dven trust us." Jonas pointed out.
"All interesting possibilities to consider, but without further information, we can't know for sure. So for now, all we can do is keep an eye out and hope eventually they will feel they can trust us." General Hammond decided. "In the meantime, you all have duties. Dismissed."
Not long after, their benefactor helped them out again.
"Sir,." Master Sargent Walter Harriman reported. "That Gou'ald vessel that we were monitoring, that we were afraid would crash into the Pacific Ocean and force us to reveal the existence of the Stargate and aliens to the U. N. Security Council? It was just towed back from the edge of the atmosphere and dropped by the one behind the moon. Now it's no longer a threat."
"Our benefactor strikes again." Colonel O'Neill said.
"Anubis' mothership works just fine, this new one is badly damaged." Major Carter said. "But we can salvage it for parts. We pretty much know everything about how the mothership works and are beginning to train crew for it. We'll need to maintain it while we use it, until we can get more of our own ships built, which makes this a much needed gift."
"Indeed." Teal'C said. "I was uncertain that you would be able to make use of Anubis' ship long enough to construct other Earth made vessels. Now it is no longer as much of a concern. "
Then another incident happened.
"Sir, there seems to be a firefight happening almost directly above our position." Walter reported.
"Major, check into it." The General ordered.
"Yes, sir." She answered and headed up to study the readings.
"Sir, it appears there was a cloaked Gou'ald cargo ship in orbit. Our benefactor approached the cloaked ship's position and hailed them. The Gou'ald, whoever it was, fired on them and they returned fire. The cloak on the cargo vessel failed and it jumped into hyperspace. Our benefactor opted not to give chase."
"Interesting, so they have the ability to read thru a cloak. They did not fire first and opted just to drive off the Gou'ald, instead of pursuing and destroying it. Where they damaged?"
"I don't believe so. The cargo ship certainly was. Our benefactor's weapons and shield appear to be superior."
"Well, hopefully they will continue to be friendly. I'd hate to think what would happen if they became an enemy. In the meantime, Major, we have another concern. Someone named Pete Shanahan, ran an unauthorized FBI check on you. AFOSI is investigating."
"Damn it, I know him. I went on a couple of dates with him. He's a friend of my brother's. We had a fight two nights ago because he wanted to know about my Classified work. He got really pissed when I refused to tell him anything. He must have thought he could find out something on his own. He's a cop, he should understand Classified!"
"Yes, he should and now he's in alot of trouble because he refused to. You're not in any trouble, but make yourself available if the AFOSI agent needs to talk to you."
"Yes, sir. I've yet to get involved with a guy who isn't a problem in some way."
A/N. AFOSI: Office of Air Force Special Investigations. And there's Pete taken care of. That relationship made as little sense as the Fluke did.
