"I can go alone." Alexander offered.
"I have been watching your back for more then 450 years Alexander, that is not going to change now!" Corda said, annoyed. Honestly, did he really think she was going to stay behind?
"I'm all in." Johnathan said.
"I'm not letting them examine me or cut me up, but I am going with." Oz told them.
"Wow, working with us is having an affect on Oz's laconic nature." Alexander snarked. "But actually, you'll have to stay behind anyway. The airlock is too far from the ground right now. We'll need you to ring us down to the outpost and keep a lock on us in case anything goes wrong. And just for the record, I'll kill anyone that ever tries to dissect you."
"Good to know. And appreciated." Oz said, as he moved to the controls and ringed them down. They saw three people, two of whom they recognized, as soon as the rings released them.
"Major Carter, Dr. Jackson, it's nice to see you both again. I take it General Hammond has been a bit delayed?"
"Alexander?" Daniel questioned. "What are you doing here?"
"Helping to fight off the wanna be god with an attitude problem."
"You're our benefactor." Major Carter said, wiping at the tears on her face, not wanting them to see her like that.
"Are you alright?" Corda asked.
"Our friend Jack, he had to go into this stasis thing." Daniel said.
"What happened to him?" Alexander asked, pulling out his scanner. His eyes widened when he saw the display.
"He downloaded a repository into his head to keep Anubis from getting his hands on it." Daniel told them.
"His half Ascended hands? We intercepted a hologram transmission he was making and he told us he Ascended and the others sent him half way back to punish the one who helped him Ascend in the first place." Corda told them.
"That explains a few things." Major Carter said, thoughtfully.
"I just wish he had let me do it." Daniel lamented. Alexander ran his scanner over him as well and then the other two.
"You'd never have been able to activate it, let alone be able to use it, Dr. Jackson." Alexander told him.
"Why not?" Daniel asked, confused.
Alexander approached the stasis unit and touched his hand to the surface. "Either of you ever read Kipling? The Jungle Book? We be of one blood, thou and I. He's the descendant of a union between an Alteran human and an Earth human."
"Thor said he was just advanced." Daniel protested. "Wouldn't he have known?"
"We never told any of our allies the secret to how we secured our more sensitive technologies. He bears a gene that he did not evolve, because he couldn't have. Are you aware that the Alterans seeded Earth before departing after the plague devastated our population?"
"Yes, we've learned that in our explorations." Daniel said.
"We deliberately ensured that, that gene would not evolve in your genetic code. When we left, we had two choices, destroy all of the technology we were leaving behind or leave it and hope someone could use it for good. But we didn't want you stumbling on it on your own. By the time you'd be advanced enough to understand the technology, you'd have advanced yourself, so you'd be safer. The only way he can access and use Alteran technology, is if he has an Alteran ancestor. We've been trying to figure out when the Alterans would have interbred with humans. They returned 10,000 years ago on the verge of Ascension, an evolutionary leap forward. I sincerely doubt they got involved with people still living in caves. But 5,000 years ago, the Gou'ald came to Earth. Our sources say a rebellion led to the Gou'ald leaving. What if some of the Ascended, descended in order to try to help? Ascension held no interest for me. I was a soldier, I didn't meditate on my troubles, I shot 'em full of holes. I think there were others that it didn't suit either."
"So you didn't Ascend?"
"No, I'm the result of someone's stupidity. This body belonged to Alexander Harris of Sunnydale, California and Corda's." He indicated Corda. "Belonged to Cordelia Chase. They too, are descended from a union between a Earth human and an Alteran human. We died over 10,000 years ago in the galaxy our people went to after leaving here. After a century of warfare against an enemy our leaders never fully committed to fighting. Somehow, we ended up pulled out and I guess you could say, mixed with Alexander and Cordelia. Both of us were more then 500 hundred years old. Alexander and Cordelia, not even seventeen. We overwhelmed them. They're still here, the knowledge they had, some of their feelings, opinions, but centuries worth of experience verses barely having a chance at life, means not much more then that. When we realized we were stuck, we had to figure out how to survive. Finding some of the technology of our people and reverse engineering it and getting it patented so we could manufacture and sell it, helps with that. Then we realized Earth was exploring the galaxy and had made an enemy. We wanted to help, so we have. We have a right to the technology, our people made it and we have a right to use it. Hopefully for the better."
"Can you help Jack?" Daniel asked.
"I don't have the technology or the knowledge of how to help him. But I'm certain the Reelokians can help him."
"Reelokians?" Major Carter asked.
"Asgard." Teal'C told them. "I thought only the Gou'ald called them that. They mean it as an insult.
"I assure you, I don't. That's what they were known as a million years ago. Names change. I'll be sure to call them Asgard from now on."
"Well, General Hammond should be here soon. You can explain everything to him and we can call Thor and see about getting that repository out of Jack's head." Daniel said.
Alexander nodded and prepared to tell their story again, when the General arrived.
