A/N No bashing is occuring in this story, as far as I'm aware, everyone is behaving as they did in canon. Dr. Weir described herself as someone who began her career as lobbying against the military and spending on them and wanting to ensure there was no need for them. She didn't want military in Atlantis and neither did the IOA. The IOA doesn't exist in my story. Over the course of the first year, she gained an appreciation for the officers stationed on Atlantis, but still resisted new ones being assigned. I have not been tearing down characters to make others look good. At this point in canon, McKay was a self centered bully, determined to get what he wants. While he improved considerably over the course of the show, he could still be arrogant and self centered. And so sure he was right and others wrong.

"Sheppard, Markham and Stackhouse cloak the jumpers and go after the ship in orbit.10,000 years ago the Wraith didn't shield the hive ships and that was when then they were fighting us. Take out the engines. They've probably got humans on board in storage, to be used as food. We may be able to save them. The rest of us, shields on, guard the civilians and take down their fighters."

Alexander led AG 1 - 6 through the Stargate and Sheppard, Markham and Stackhouse followed behind in the jumpers. The three cloaked immediately and made for orbit. The civilians were running around trying to avoid the culling beams from the fighters. Major Lorne and his team were trying to protect the civilians.

"Where's Dr. Weir?" Alexander asked as soon as he saw Major Lorne.

"She asked to see the abandoned city, Teyla was a little reluctant, but agreed. I sent two of my team with to guard them. They hadn't made it back when the attack started."

"Take the rest of your team and find them. We'll protect the people."

"Yes, sir." He motioned to Lieutenant Armstrong and the two headed in the direction of the city.

Alexander and his forces made a line between the civilians and the fighters coming towards them.

"Avoid the culling beams and take those fighters down!" He ordered and leading by example, did so himself. Firing with the pulse pistol until the fighter had enough damage to scream toward the ground, where it crashed and exploded.

Sheppard led the cloaked jumpers up to the hive ship in orbit.

"Fire on the engines, boys. Alexander is right, I'm reading humans on board."

"Yes, sir!" Came responses from the others and all three fired on the hive ship's engines.

"That did it. They can't jump to hyperspace and they can't accelerate. Let's help our people out and take out some of those fighters." He ordered.

Halling watched in amazement as the humans from the world they called Earth formed a line between his people and the Wraith culling ships. He was even more amazed when they used weapons he didn't he recognize, but understood were very powerful, to shoot down the culling ships.

And just as fast as the attack had begun, it was over. All the fighters were down and people were starting to calm down.

"Approach with caution." Alexander advised. "The Wraith are damn resilient and hard to kill. And keep them away from the civilians, they'll try to feed on them!"

They did find some still clinging to life in the various wrecked fighters and killed them.

Halling approached Alexander. "We thank you for coming to our aid." He said.

"We want to help."

A few minutes later, Major Lorne joined them with Teyla and Dr. Weir.

"Dr. Weir's been injured. One of those Wraith tried to feed on her."

"Her personal shield should have protected her."

"She didn't have it activated. She thought it would show disrespect and distrust if she did."

"Oh for crying out loud. These people understand the need for caution, they live their lives under the threat of the Wraith. I'll see what I can do."

He approached Dr. Weir. Fortunately for her, Lorne had killed the Wraith feeding on her before it could finish. She only looked a couple of decades older. He scanned her with his scanner. She'd need Dr. Beckett and the healing pod to repair the damage. His scan showed something else.

"Teyla, you weren't wearing that necklace yesterday. Is it new?"

"It was a gift from my father when I was a child. I lost it while exploring the city many years ago."

"It's Wraith tech. It's broadcasting a signal. Someone must have thought it was pretty and made it into a necklace. If you take it off, I can destroy and the Wraith can't use it to find you."

She looked horrified and quickly pulled it off and threw it on the ground. Alexander fired on it with his pulse pistol, quickly destroying it.

"Lt. Callaway spotted it on the ground and handed it to me. Neither of us meant to cause harm."

"Teyla can sense the Wraith, sir. She tried to get us back here faster, but Dr. Weir couldn't run very fast. We had to match our speed to hers."

"You did your job. Can many of your people sense the Wraith, Teyla?"

"A few, some more strongly then others. My ability to sense them is quite strong."

Alexander scanned her and found something interesting, he scanned the other Athosians and found the same thing. He opted not to say anything, in case they didn't already know. It probably would not go over well.

"We can help with your injured. Major Lorne, please contact the base and have Jon send medical personnel. There's too many injured and some severely for me to heal them."

Yes, sir." He headed back to the gate.

"Heal people?" Teyla asked. Alexander held up his hand and let the healing energy flow. "As you have the gift of sensing the Wraith, some among us have the ability to heal. What is beyond our ability our technology can help with."

"That is a wonderous gift. It is said the Ancestors could heal."

"The Ancestors?"

"Thousands of years ago, they fought a war against the Wraith. Then they disappeared. Some pray they will return and save us from the Wraith."

Alexander was troubled by Teyla's statement. He wasn't sure what to tell her. For now they were keeping their connection to the Alterans quiet and their presence on Atlantis as well. Sooner or later, people would know, but operational security meant, they couldn't just announced their presence until they were in a secure position to do so.
