After returning to Athos, Alexander sought out Dr. Brightman, who was evaluating the humans they'd managed to save.

"What can you tell me, Doctor?"

"That with medications and careful monitoring we can bring them out of the state they're in. Dr. Becket has managed to heal the few physical injuries we've encountered. He's very excited over finally being able to use his healing ability since you helped him figure out how. The ones from the ship, we're going to have to take them back to the base."

"We'll use the jumpers. We can still maintain operational security, we just have to be careful. They never leave the infirmary and we bring them back just as carefully and move them out as soon as they recover. Those that are from other worlds then Athos, we'll see about getting them back safely. We'll have to send a first contact team before we can. And Dr. Weir?"

"In the healing stasis pod. Jon intends to talk to her as soon as she comes out of it."

"She endangered lives not having her shield activated. The Lieutenant says Teyla is an able fighter, but she had to protect Dr. Weir, while Lorne's security officers tried to protect the both of them. There were too many Wraith and one got past them. If Lorne hadn't shown up when he did and killed it, she'd be dead. It's good to see you've got yours on."

"Thanks, some of these people are ready to be moved to base."

"We'll use the jumpers." Alexander tapped his communicator. "Sheppard, I need to report to Jon. Dr. Brightman has some people ready to be moved, have your people help her."

"Affirmative."

The first thing Alexander did was seek out Jon.

"Teyla and some of her people can sense the Wraith. My scan of them showed something very interesting. Some of them have trace amounts of Wraith DNA in them. Wraith and human can't reproduce without some serious outside intervention. And the amount of DNA is too small for that anyway. It's possible, their ancestors were experimented on in some way and were able to pass it on. I didn't tell them because I'm not sure if they know and it might not go over well."

"Given that Wraith feed on humans that's probably true. Anything else?

"The timing of the attack is because the Lieutenant found an old necklace of Teyla's that she lost while exploring the city when she was younger. It was Wraith tech. She allowed me to destroy it and seemed genuinely horrified by the knowledge. Someone probably found it, didn't understand what it was and thought it was pretty and made a necklace out of it."

"Something that may come up again at some point, so we'll have to keep an eye out."

"I'm going to make sure Beckett and Allyson have a copy of the readings I took. They may be able to figure out more. I've said it before, I'm not scientist."

"Well Corda and Allyson found something of interest themselves in one of the labs. Nanite cells. Some of the scientists wanted to study them, but Corda and Allyson put their foot down on that. We had enough trouble getting rid of the Replicators, we don't need something that could cause them to respawn. Corda hit them with a keron disruptor wave to be sure they weren't functioning and then blasted them with her pulse pistol."

"Good, they caused way too many problems."

A call from the infirmary informed them that Dr. Weir was done in the healing pod.

"If you will excuse me, I have to go yell at her now." Jon said grimly and headed for the infirmary.

A few days later, Alexander got a call to report to Jon's office.

"AG 2 made contact with a fairly advanced human society called the Hoffans. They seem to be at level akin to the time of WW I. What can you tell me about them?"

"They were one of the more advanced human societies. They were part of a coalition, three or four, I'm not sure which, worlds that achieved a measure of cooperation."

"Modern day Hoffans seem to value knowledge a great deal. Every generation has carefully preserved what they've managed to learn in bunkers they call repositories. The repositories survive Wraith cullings, but they have to keep fighting their way back." Jon told him. "They think they may have a method of fighting back. About a century ago, there was a human that survived a Wraith feeding. The Wraith died. They found a protein in the human that they're trying to develop into a means of inoculating themselves against Wraith feedings. They hope the Wraith will leave them alone if they know they can't feed from them."

"Unlikely. Most likely the Wraith will destroy them to keep it from spreading. Humans aren't their only choice for feeding, they're their preferred choice."

"I thought you'd say that. Not alot we can do about it. So we move onto the next world and if the Hoffans need help later, we'll try to help them."
