That morning, Sam met up with Carly at her apartment to walk to school together when Mrs. Benson burst through the door, crying. Normally Spencer would've made a sarcastic quip about no one knocking and people always coming in, but since something was wrong, he bit his tongue this time. "Is everything okay, Mrs. Benson?" he asked. "Freddie's missing! I said goodnight to him last night and that was the last time I saw him!" she sobbed. "WHAT?" Carly asked loudly, in shock. So that must've meant that he ran away. Last night, he never showed up to do the webshow, and so they had to abruptly cancel it. They figured Freddie flaked just out of nowhere. They sent him some pretty angry text messages. But now he was gone. Something just didn't add up. It wasn't like Freddie to not show up, let alone dodge their calls and texts and run away. Spencer didn't know Freddie ran away, but he did know that Freddie decided to not do the webshow and not talk to Carly and Sam anymore, and he knew it was because he overheard Carly and Sam make fun of him behind his back, but he promised he wouldn't say anything. "Don't worry, Mrs. Benson, we'll find him. Have you contacted the police?" Spencer asked. Mrs. Benson sniffed. "Yes, they're going to have a search party for him." She said. "Wait, maybe Freddie went to school early to meet with the AV club." Carly said. "No, he usually leaves a note. There was nothing. Although I, did notice $3,000 was missing from my purse this morning." Mrs. Benson said, still crying a little but calming down. This meant that Freddie definitely ran away. Why else would all that money disappear at the same time that he did? "Well, let's wait to hear back from the police, maybe they'll find him." Carly said. Something about this didn't make a whole lot of sense. What made Freddie run away? Now they just had to wait to see if the police would find him and take him back home. Hopefully he was safe.
