Three days later, there was no sign of Freddie anywhere. Carly and Sam hoped that they'd see him at school that first day but they didn't. Mrs. Benson had to file a missing person's report. Everyone was scared. They were worried he got kidnapped or possibly even killed. Carly decided to write a message on the iCarly website. It read:
"Hello iCarly fans,
The other day, we reported that there would be no webshow since Freddie didn't show up and dodged our calls and texts. The reason we still haven't made a webshow is because Freddie is missing. Mrs. Benson said that he came back to his apartment Thursday night, and when she was sleeping, Freddie vanished, and so did $3,000. This leads us to believe that he ran away. The police have started a search party but we still can't find him. Mrs. Benson had to file a missing person's report. At first we were angry but now we're really worried, we don't know if he was kidnapped after he ran away or if he's alive or dead. We hope we can find him and find out what really happened and what lead him to run away in the first place since we're still completely in the left field, it's not like Freddie to abruptly run away and not tell anyone. Most importantly, we hope he's okay. But I'm afraid we can't make another webshow until we find him or find out what happened to him. Therefore I'm announcing a hiatus until further notice. So sorry for the inconvenience. We love you guys. - Carly"
Carly read over it a few times before posting it. She knew she and Sam would get a ton of backlash for it but she didn't care anymore. Finding Freddie was more important.
That night, Freddie logged onto the iCarly website. He read the message Carly left to the fanbase about him running away and potentially being missing and how they were having a search party in hopes that he was alive and would go on a hiatus until they found him (if he was alive). He decided to set the record straight on why he left.
"Hi, iCarly fans,
This is Freddie. I wanted to set the record straight on what's been happening these past few days - the good news is, I'm alive and well. The bad news is, I did run away and I did stop talking to Carly, Sam and my mom. Let me explain. Behind the scenes, things weren't as happy or as goofy as they were on the show. Both Carly and ESPECIALLY Sam treated me like crap. Carly took advantage of the fact that I had a crush on her to manipulate me into doing things SHE wanted, and almost never considered what I wanted. And Sam's insults on the show may seem like they're in good fun/playful, but they are NOT. She constantly made my life miserable, called me names, beat me up, got me in trouble, ruined school projects, etc, etc. for YEARS. I put up with it and I did the show for them because I cared about them (or at least, I cared about Carly; I tolerated Sam because she just happened to be Carly's friend and I was her other friend, Sam and I were never friends). And I ran away from my mom because, as you all well know, she treats me like a toddler. When I finally got fed up with her and moved out of her house, she told me she'd stop babying me if I came home. I came home, but her treating me differently remained to be seen. But Thursday was the final nail in the coffin. I went to get a new camera for the show, and when I was near the studio I overheard Carly and Sam mocking me behind my back. So I abandoned them. And I abandoned the show. If my "friends" were going to talk about me that way, they don't deserve me as a friend or even a Technical Producer. I literally did most of the work to make iCarly what it is today and got next to no appreciation for it. I'm not telling anyone where I ran away to, but I will say I managed to find a place where iCarly isn't very popular. I dropped out of school, at least for now. I took $3,000 from my mom so that I could catch a plane, rent a motel room and food until I could find a job. To Carly and Sam, the only way to continue iCarly is to find a new technical producer, hopefully you two will know how to treat the next one. I'm not coming home, so forget it. I found new friends who are much more loyal and protective of me and treat me better than the two of you ever did. We are not friends and we will never be friends. It's over. To all the iCarly fans, I'm sorry. I will miss all of you. Stay in school. Make your parents proud. And never forget me. - Freddie Benson"
Freddie proofread it for a minute. "Alright, I think I've said everything I wanted to say." He said. And with that, he posted it.
