Meanwhile, Sam burst through Carly's front door that afternoon. "Right, let's just burst in, not knock." Spencer snarked. Sam ignored him and went straight to Carly. "Dude, did you hear about Freddie?" Sam asked. "What do you mean, did you find him? Is he okay?" Carly asked. "No I didn't find him, but I know he's alive. He posted a message to the iCarly website." Sam said. "WHAT?!" Carly practically yelled in shock. "Yeah, check this out!" Sam said, pulling up Freddie's message on the site. Carly read the whole thing and her heart sunk. She realized what a terrible friend she'd been to him, and she hated that he left because he heard what they said about him. She didn't think he'd hear it. This wasn't right. She felt horrible. "Oh God." Carly said sadly. "I know, can you believe him? The little nub made us look like the worst friends ever!" Sam complained. "Sam, you don't get it! We are the worst friends ever! Don't you see? Freddie ran away because he heard us make fun of him! We drove him away and now he hates us! We have to find him and apologize!" Carly snapped at her. "I'm not apologizing to that little tech-geek! Plus, he said not to try to find him because he won't come back home or come back to the show!" Sam told her. "Yes, you are! Sam, he's my friend and I miss him. It's our fault he ran away. We have to find him. Even if he won't come home or come back I want him to know how sorry I am." Carly said, choking up a little at that last part. She seemed to be the only one feeling remorse for hurting Freddie. "See? You're sorry. He's your friend, not mine. It's not my fault he decided to get his little nub feelings hurt and run off!" Sam defended. "Yes it is, you treated him even worse than I did!" Carly told her. "So? Carly, if you want to try to look for him, go ahead. But I'm not going to! Plus, he made it pretty clear he doesn't wanna hear it. Nothing will change his mind." Sam said. Carly was angry. This was incredibly callous and unfeeling, even for Sam. "You're coming with me, right now! We're going to Mrs. Benson's house to show her Freddie's message, and then we're gonna go look for him!" Carly said, dragging Sam by the arm. Unbeknownst to them, Freddie was in Canada, and the time zone there was different, so while it was the afternoon for them, it was nighttime for him and he was already in bed.

Carly and Sam went to Mrs. Benson's doorstep and knocked on the door. Mrs. Benson answered the door. "What?" she asked rudely. She never was a fan of Carly or Sam. "Mrs. Benson, we didn't find Freddie but we know he's okay. He posted to the iCarly website explaining everything." Carly said. Mrs. Benson came over to their house since she didn't own a computer, and read the message Freddie wrote. "Oh no, not my little Fredward." she said sadly. "You're surprised he ran away after you named him Fredward?" Sam wanted to say, but bit her tongue. "I'll call the police, maybe they'll know what to do." Carly said. Soon the police arrived. "My son is still missing, but he's alive. He left a message saying he's not telling us where he is but that he's not coming home. What do I do?" Mrs. Benson asked. "May I see the message?" The policeman asked. "It's still up on the computer." Spencer said. The policeman read the message. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but there's not much I can do except continue to look for your son and bring him home if I find him. But so far the search has been fruitless." he said, walking away. Carly and Mrs. Benson both felt so defeated. This felt so hopeless.
