A.N. — My original nucleus of yesterday's drabble was listed as "do a sensitive look at Toya's suicide attempt and how a life of crime actually saved his life" in my notes. Instead, I went full-on dark death idealization. So, luckily, UA's guidance counselor has his birthday today. Felicitations to Ryo Inui.

319. Ryo Inui/Hound Dog

Ryo Inui, like his Dog quirk implied, had an innate sense of loyalty to both his employer and those who sought his services. He was an atypical counselor for an even more atypical high school; breaking the mold made both of them stronger.

Nobody expected the hulking, aggressive Hound Dog when they first opened his office door. Through their sessions, Ryo hoped to get his charges comfortable both with him and on the path they chose. Betterment was a cooperative effort — gains couldn't be made unless both parties were willing, and Hound Dog was always willing to lend an ear.
