He'd nudged her awake with enough time to return to her garden without getting caught, giving her a stern look before she disappeared into the shadows.
She'd blown him a kiss in response, barely controlling her laughter at his bristled fur. His size was nothing compared to his power, or what it should've been outside the cage, and he tried to keep his stoic persona intact, but Kagome knew he enjoyed the companionship just as much as she did.
From what she'd learned in her travels, inuyoukai relied on pack for most things, regardless of how powerful their alpha was. She had no doubt he was an alpha, likely used to others fawning over and relying on him for even their most basic needs. Being separated from them—from the world—likely grated on his already frayed nerves.
She could see his cage from her garden if she stood tall enough and knew he spent most of the day pacing and snarling at anyone who came close. They wanted him alive, just like her, and would throw chunks of meat at him every time they came back from a hunt, but he never touched any of it.
Once the first sign of vegetation had bloomed, Kagome had offered up the meagre morsels, enduing them with her power to try and return him to full strength. He'd sniffed them warily, eventually sliding his tongue along her hand. She wasn't sure if he was just humouring her or if he actually enjoyed them, but he'd never refused, so she'd continued to share her meals with him when she could.
Maybe he was a vegetarian.
