WOW! I've been gone for so long. I went over my story and I did not like where it was going. I made changes and had to re-do everything. A more updated version of Book 1 and 2 can be found on Wattpad & Quotev. It's harder to edit on here. So sorry for all the errors I did in the past. Hope this Chapter helps to remind you all I'm still here and I won't give up on this story.

Everything happened so fast. The moment Jim had heard from Ruby that Rose was shot, he felt time truly had frozen. He felt cold, useless, and confused. He wanted to help, but there was nothing he could do. He wanted to yell, punch, something. His mind re-focused on the new noise getting louder and closer. Ruby had decided to meet up with the others at the ER of the hospital. Jim refused to stay with Henry and Granny, and joined her instead.

He watched the nurses rushing two bodies in a rush. It was a quick moment, but Jim could have sworn he had seen a man with pale skin and black wet hair, wearing all black leather clothes that looked too familiar. But then he noticed her. There she was, Rose Gold being held in Mary Margret's arms. Also being dragged away in a rush. Until the shouts of Mr Gold were heard.

"Where are they taking her? Rose!"

"Get him out of here!" David instructed, but Gold was fighting those who tried to pull him away. Mary Margret saw Jim.

"Jim! Take her." She gently pulled the young girl towards him. Both Jim and Rose looked at Mary Margret confused.

"Where?" He asked.

"Follow the Nurse. Don't leave her alone." She instructed.

"Rosemary!" Rumple shouted again. Scaring the girl. Neither noticed she inched herself closer in his arms. Jim held her with a grip.

"Go!" Not wasting a second, he took Rose away. The Nurse led them down the hall.

"Who are you?" The girl asked him. Jim was about to ask what she meant, but the nurse spoke up, still walking ahead of them.

"We were informed she hit her head hard on the road. Causing her to have Amnesia."

He had that cold feeling again. Multiple questions were rushing through his head.

Rose was sedated and had fallen asleep. She was trying to explain to the nurses that she was shot and then was magically healed. Not just from the shot wound, but from her sickness too. The nurse had informed her that she had taken a hard fall and was hallucinating. Rose, still fighting back, was then given strong medication. Knocking her out and was now in deep slumber.

Jim stayed in the room watching her sleep peacefully. He took a chair and was facing her. He replayed everything that happened in the last few hours. She was with him. They were in a good place. He should've stopped her. Made her stay with him or somewhere else. Maybe then she wouldn't be laying in bed not remembering anything.

"Jim" He heard a whisper. He looked behind him and saw Ruby at the door, waving at him to come out. Taking one last look at Rose, he stood up and left the room. Closing the door gently to not wake her. Ruby started walking with him down the hall. Getting the feeling he was sitting all that time.

"How is she?" Ruby asked him. Jim noticed she looked stressed and tired too. Jim looked at her with a frown and sighed.

"She lost her memory. They said she hit her head hard causing Amnesia. But Rose says she was shot and was healed. And I mean, completely heal." He explained. Hoping she knew what he meant, hoping she could explain more of the situation.

Ruby nodded. "The Charming's told me. She was at the Town line with her father. She was shot, causing her to cross over. Losing her memory. Looks like Mr Gold didn't hesitate to use magic on the shooter, who was a Pirate actually. But a car drove in, before he could. The driver hit the Pirate. That's when Gold healed her. David, Mary Margret, and Emma came in. And here we are." Jim took it all in. So that's what they meant and why they gave her that explanation.

"So she doesn't remember anything? Nothing at all?" He asked, afraid he already knew what else that meant.

Ruby knew where he was going and gave him a somber look. "Looks like she only knows her cursed life."

"Which is why she doesn't remember me." He stopped moving, closing his eyes and hung his head down in defeat. He knew no matter what, she wouldn't remember him. During their cursed life, they never spoke to each other. They were just kids who went to the same school. It wasn't until Emma came to town when everything changed.

"I'm… I'm so sorry." She barely said softly. Looking at his face, the boy she's come to love as a little brother. It was hurting her too. Knowing and witnessing how much he cared for the girl who was in the other room. Oblivious of everything literally.

"What's to be sorry for? I was a nobody from the start." He bitterly chuckled, leaning his back to the wall. She moved closer and placed her hand on his shoulder to give him some comfort.

"Don't say that! You two were friends! And even recently you two were working things out. And now more than ever she will need you."

"What can I do? I don't do magic. I'm not family. If anything, all I've done is- wait…" The man on the bed with the clothing. He was remembering where he had seen that. Back in the sea with that Pirate. He looked at Ruby seriously.

"Ruby. You said a Pirate shot her?"

"Yeah. He was wearing all black. And it looks like he has a past history with the Dark One. But that's-"

"Was his name Captain Hook?" He glared.

Ruby looked at him oddly and nodded. "How did you know-" That's all he needed. Jim didn't feel sorry, weak, or disappointed anymore. He felt the opposite. The hatred he had hidden away for that criminal was rising up again. Giving him more strength.

"I'm gonna kill him" He growled. But before he could take a step away, before Ruby could ask him anything, they heard a scream coming from Rose's room. He ran.

Both bolted in the room and found Mr Gold holding a dagger in his hand, trying to get closer to Rose as she tried to scoot away. Her eyes looked at the man with fear. Still being weak, she couldn't move away. He must've snuck in while Jim and Ruby were talking.

"Get away from her!" Jim shouted. Rushing at Rose's side by the bed. He couldn't help but feel a little at ease that Rose didn't hold back from grabbing his arms. Tucking her head into his chest to avoid the crazy old man. Rumple wasn't too content to watch this. Especially since he was trying to get Rose to look at the dagger he charmed. Hoping it would bring back her memories somehow.

"I have every-"

"Mr Gold! You need to leave. Now! Staying here will only make it worse." Ruby forcefully interrupted Gold. She had to remind him there wasn't much they could do for her now. It was clear that the young girl was more terrified than ever of the man thanks to his actions.

Rumple did not want to give in. But one look at Rose, who was now whimpering in Jim's arms, still refusing to give him a glance, shattered his heart more than it was earlier. He sadly, slowly nodded. He walked out of the room. Feeling exhausted, and powerless.

After things had calmed down with the newcomer and Dr Whale, Snow the others made their way to see Rose. Ruby had texted her that Rose was awake and what had happened with Gold. Mary Margret still couldn't get in contact with Regina. They knew Rose would be questioning her aunt soon. Snow was about to open the door but stopped.

"What's wrong?" David asked his wife. Snow looked at him shyly, knowing his reaction.

"Maybe you should stay out here." She suggested.

"You too?"

"She doesn't remember you. And if she did, you were just a patient in a coma. I think it'll take her by surprise to see you up and awake."

"And we need her to take it easy. Right now she's a teenage girl who was shot at, no longer with a breathing problem, freaked out by an old man. She has questions and will want answers. Like where Regina is." Emma reminded him. Just like earlier, it'll be weird and stressful to have Rose deal with so many faces. Especially unknown ones.

"I keep trying to contact her. But no answer. I left messages hoping she would at least see them." Snow mentioned. She tried one more time, but got the answering machine again. David nodded understanding. Letting Mary Margret, Dr Whale, and Emma go in.

The second Mary Margret stepped in, Rose pulled away from Jim in relief. Jim felt a little awkward, but took a few steps back so no one noticed. Ruby joined him, so the rest had room.

"Mary Margret! What's going on?" Rose panicked. Mary Margret didn't waste a second and sat on the bed. Facing Rose and holding her hands in her for comfort.

"Shhhhh. It's ok. You're gonna be fine." She soothingly said and gave her a small smile. She helped Rose take deep breaths in and out. Calming her more and more, and was no longer shaking.

"How do you feel?"

"Better I guess. Where's my aunt and Henry? Do they know I'm here?" Mary Margret wasn't sure how to answer that. Emma noticed and step forward.

"She's preoccupied for the moment." Rose took a look at the blond woman. She didn't remember her at all. And she's certain it's got nothing to do with the Amnesia.

"Who are you?" Rose asked her. Emma had to remind herself that she was just a Sheriff to Rose.

"I'm the Sheriff."

"No you're not." Jim snorted. All eyes at him. He then tried to cover it with a fake cough. Ruby patted his back to cover him. Emma rolled her eyes. It won't be easy to trick her after all. Rose looked at the boy for a few seconds, trying not to smile at his reaction. Shaking her head, she focused on the so-called Sheriff.

"Last time I checked, Graham is the sheriff." Everyone looked the other way. Giving Rose the impression they were hiding something. "What is it?"

"Rose, honey." Mary Margret started, giving her hands a gentle squeeze. "Graham passed away." She gently told her. Rose looked at her in shock.

"What? When?"

"It was last year. He was… he was sick" Rose couldn't believe it. She definitely would have remembered that.

"I don't remember- Why don't I rem-"

"You've been in shock, Ms Mills." Dr Whale decided to speak up. "In your case, it is not a surprise. You've been through a lot. And because of it you have Amnesia." He gave her a smile. But she knew about his "charming smiles" and narrowed her eyes at the Dr.

"You, I remember." Again Jim was covering his mouth to hide his laugh and turned sound completely for them not to see. Rose felt satisfied she wasn't going to be fooled. Giving Dr Whale a proud smirk herself. Dr whale and the others all gave embarrassed smiles.

"Charming as always."

"Alerted you mean."

"Anyway…." Dr Whale was getting annoyed by her attitude. But he had to remind himself, memory or not, that she is still the Dark Ones Daughter. "I need you to stay here for a few days while you recover from surgery." He ignored the stares the others were giving him. "Take it easy and slow. Do not force yourself to remember everything. It'll all come back to you in its own time." And with that he left before the curious girl could ask anything.

Emma quickly followed him out. Once they were out of the room and Emma closed the door, she gave him a disbelieving look. "What the hell was that?" She questioned him. Dr Whale is full of surprises that night.

"What's going on?" David asked them.

"I solved another problem." Whale answered.

"By telling the poor girl she went through surgery and has Amnesia! How is that solving it" Emma reminded him.

"Do you prefer we tell her that Her Aunt Regina is not really her aunt. And Henry isn't her cousin. Or how Rumpelstiltskin, aka the Dark One, who is the Pawn shop owner, is her real father? Or how about how her deadly sickness was magically healed?"

"Ok! I get it!" Emma raised her hands in defeat. She knew what he meant and why he did it. She took a deep breath out, knowing the truth was way too complicated. And the fact that Regina was still missing wasn't helping. She just really hated lying. Especially to kids.

After listening, David had to agree. "Maybe it's for the best." Emma looked at him in disbelief. He continued, "Think about it. She has no memory, but her cursed life. Staying here away from Gold, Regina, and everything else would be better and easier to hide." They already got things taken care of by Greg the newcomer. Hoping after he recovered he would be gone and they didn't have to worry about him finding out about their magical lives. Now it would be easier to watch over Rose.

"We can't hide magic from her forever. Gold certainly won't stop when she is his daughter!" Emma reminded the one truth they all knew would be difficult to hide.

After the Dr and Sheriff left, Rose noticed the other teenager again.

"Who are you?" She asked him. Jim was taken off guard, he wasn't sure how to respond to that. Ruby also wasn't sure, giving a look at Snow, since the girl knew her better.

"He's a classmate of yours. You two are friends." Snow explained. That should be good enough for the girl.

"Really? I don't remember him." Rose looked at her oddly. She trusted the teacher, and had to admit he did seem a little familiar. But she couldn't make any connection.

"Remember what Dr Whale said. You have to take it slow. Don't force yourself."

"Okay…" Rose wasn't convinced, but gave in for now. Mary Margret nodded with a relieved smile.

"Well I have to go. We need to take care of some things. But I will be back to check up on you. Promise. Until I get back Ruby and Jim will look after you. I trust them so you can too. Ok?" Rose nodded in agreement. With that, Mary Margret left and Ruby excused herself to get some coffee. Leaving the teeanagers alone.

Jim felt awkward. It was only a little while ago he had her in his arms, clinging to him. But now he felt strange just being in the same room. Not sure what to do or say. Rose felt the same and needed to distract herself. She was replaying what she could remember. That's when she was reminded of Mr Gold coming in and pulled out a Dagger with strange looking designs on it. For some reason it had inscription 'Rumpelstiltskin' She was wondering if he was a fairy tale fan. Creepy for a man like him. Just thinking about it sent her shivers. She was startled by what he was doing with the sharp object and trying to force it near her. She thought he had lost his mind.

"I should uh….. Thank you." She softly said. She was focusing on her fingers, feeling nervous. Jim stared at her in awe. He wasn't sure if he had heard her right. He grunted to himself to find his voice.

" I did nothing." He rescinded.

"You came in and got Mr Gold away from me. I was really scared…" He watched her as she continued playing with her finger. She stopped and finally looked up at him. Her eyes staring back at him. It helped to see her eyes were the same. Her face was the same. "Thank you." She finished. Hearing her words sounding so weak, made him want to find everyone who harmed her and teach them a lesson. Then she gave an embarrassed smile "I'm sorry. What's your name?"

He couldn't hide his chuckle this time "It's Jim. Jim Hawkins"

She giggled then covered her mouth. "From Treasure Island. Seriously? Your parents name you thought."

He laughed along with her. Finding the courage to walk closer to her. Being a foot away from her bed. "I guess my parents found an opportunity and took it." They laughed and smiled at each other. Rose felt a lot better looking at him in the eye again

"Were we really friends?" She knew what Mary Margret said. And trusted her. But she wanted to hear it from him. Not sure why, but she did. Jim felt more confident to talk. But knew he still had to be careful.

"Yeah we were. But… It's ok if you don't remember me."

It hurt him to say that. All happy feelings are gone again. Those eyes, her face. It's her, but not her.

"I should go." He stood up and walked out the door. Leaving the girl feeling alone and sad. Little did she know that Jim was leaning on the door thinking about her and wondering what would happen next.
