Everything had calmed down at the hospital. The Pirate was locked up in his room for recovery. The new stranger in town (Greg) was clueless of magic, also recovering. And Rose, despite losing all her real memories, was getting the rest she needed. The Charming's got home early in the morning, but the three felt it was time to sleep. Sadly for them an unwanted visitor entered their home without a warning.
"Gold!" Emma wasn't sure if she should be surprised or not of seeing him barge his way in. But she knew she had to be cautious of him, after everything that's happened. "It's been a long night. I know you want Rose-"
"Do you remember that favor you owe me?" Rumple got to the point. He was furious, but knew if he continued focusing on Rose, it would help no one.
""Yeah…." She was confused.
"I'm cashing it in."
"It's not a good-"
"You do honor your agreements, don't you? I need to find someone, so we're leaving today. Pack a bag." He stated.
"Leaving? But what about Rose?" Snow asked. She wasn't expecting Gold to leave with Rose in the hospital. But Gold ignored the princess and kept his eyes focused on Emma.
"And it has to be today because every minute I'm here, is a minute closer to me killing Hook after what he did to MY DAUGHTER."
Henry was very confused. He heard there was an accident and people got hurt. But he didn't know that it included Rose.
"What happened to Rose?" He asked those around him. Snow placed her hand on his shoulders to calm him.
"We did mention someone got hurt." She started. But Rumple couldn't believe that the young boy Rose cared for, still had no idea what happened.
"Is that what you told him? Are you so afraid to mention that Rosemary has now lost all her memories? And she's again stuck with the cursed ones!"
"Gold, calm down. We're sorry about your daughter. We really are." David tried to calm him. Rumple was really debating whacking the prince's face with the cane.
"Fine. But we have a long history. So know this, and know this to be true. You're going to keep Regina far away from my daughter. I don't care how you do it. Use your imagination! Because I am not going through that drama again. And if any harm comes to Rose while I'm gone, I'm gonna kill all of you." He threatened them.
…...
Jim woke up hoping last night was just a nightmare. But a call from Ruby reminding him to bring her breakfast at the hospital brought back the frown on his face. So he forced himself up and got ready for the day. Believing it will be a long, confusing one. And confusing indeed when he got down the stairs at the Inn's lobby and found the Dark One himself facing Granny. Granny looked like she was ready to bite the man's head off with her glare. Jim wouldn't be surprised if she did.
"What's going on?" He asked, sensing the tension as he stood by Granny.
"I have a job for you." Gold told him.
"I don't want it."
"Yes you will." Rumple glanced over at Granny "This is private."
"He's my responsibility, and I know you." Jim chuckled to himself. He was grateful Granny was still willing to protect him from the dark wizard. Which is why he didn't want to make the situation worse for them.
"It's ok Granny. I'll holler if I need you." Jim decided. Granny looked at him for confirmation he really was ok. After seeing that the boy was not showing any signs of fear, she nodded and left the room towards the kitchen.
After hearing the door shut, Jim looked back at Gold.
"What do you want?" Jim asked.
"A hello would be polite." He sneered
"You came here demanding to talk to me. Let's not pretend we like each other. So what is it?"
Rumple wouldn't admit it out loud, but he was impressed that the boy was actually facing him head on. Not even a blink.
"I'm leaving town. I will be gone for a few days with Ms Swan. And during my absence, and it pains me to say it, I want you to watch over Rosemary for me." He explained. Jim was shocked Gold was leaving. He would've thought he'd continue forcing himself in to get to Rose.
"What?"
"Are you deaf now?"
"I heard you. But…. why are you leaving? And why are you coming to me? What about- Your uh.… girlfriend?" Jim knew Belle was getting along with Ruby and clearly knew Rose. And for some strange reason was involved with the crazy man. He would assume Gold would want her near Rose.
"First, that's my business. Second, I may not like you. But I hate Regina more. The moment she finds out I and the Savior are gone, she won't hesitate to take Rose away. As for Belle, well I get the feeling being around someone Rose does not recognize is not a good idea." Jim nodded, understanding it better.
"Ok. But in case you forgot, I don't do magic. I'm not you."
"Exactly." Rumple watched him. "I did some digging on you Mr Hawkins. Your history. Where you're from, who you really are."
"That makes me feel safe." Rumple rolled his eyes.
"SHUT UP!" He yelled, tired of his sarcasm. Jim knew he shouldn't be messing around at the moment, so he stayed quiet and gave Gold a gesture to continue.
"It seems you were alive during the first Ogre Wars. And yet somehow you ended up, centuries later, with the Old Lady and her Wolf. I also recognized you from Cinderella's wedding. When you danced with my daughter." Jim's eyes widened. True, he recognized Rose from the ball. But he literally forgot Rumplestiltskin was there too in his human form. It shocked him that he didn't kill him then and there for dancing with her.
"I didn't know-" Rumple stopped him.
"It seems that no matter what, you two were always meant to meet. After Emma came to Storybrook, you two immediately started talking."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"As I said before, Rose won't trust those she doesn't know." Rumple more meant about him and Belle. "She is confused and scared. I now know me being near her will not help. Until I can find a way to restore her memories, she needs to be- she- Just watch over her!"
Jim noticed that Gold looked sad. Despite being an evil wizard, he really does care for his daughter. Still not sure if that's a good thing or not. Jim had already made a mental promise to not leave Rose again. He wanted to make up for what happened during cursed life and recently.
"I'm not doing it for you. I'm doing it for her."
Despite already making his decision Jim was still worried of what will happen next. He wasn't stupid to not believe that Charming or the others would take advantage of using Rose somehow against Rumple. But he had to take a chance to keep her safe from Regina, Hook, and now this new person called Cora.
Rumple notice on the counter a backpack left opened with a pile of books that looked oddly familiar. He walked closer to them and inspected it. Jim watched him and realized what he was staring at. The books were from Rose that she had left behind every now and then during their studying. Jim really hoped that Gold didn't think that he took them or something.
Rumple knew very well they were hers. He recognized them when she would be at the shop and left them there to read when she got bored. He recalled she was looking for them like crazy during the last few months. He offered to find them for her. But she stated that she figured out where they were and she could just get them another time. Now he knew why she stopped.
Putting his anger aside once again, he had to assume Hawkins was going to bring them to her at the hospital. Meaning he really was planning on seeing her whether he approved or not.
To Jim's surprise and relief, The Dark one started to walk away towards the exit.
"Behave Mr Hawkins." Without looking back, he was gone.

Jim was not happy to see Blue standing outside of Rose's door with Ruby. She had her wand out while examining the door.
"What are you doing here?" Jim raised his voice, catching their attention.
"Relax Jim. Blue is putting up a protection spell." Ruby explained. She knew Jim was not on good terms with Blue, but that was a different life. They were themselves again.
"Yes. With the Dark One gone and Regina not being near at the moment, we need to take advantage of this." Blue explained getting ready to cast the spell.
"And what do you mean by that?" He glared at the fairy.
"Jim!".
"It's ok, Ruby. Mr Hawkins is just being concerned and I do not blame him." Blue calmly told Ruby and focused back at the teen. "I am only putting up a shield to prevent anyone with dark magic from entering." Blue explained to him.
"And you really think that'll hold?" Jim didn't believe it.
"It has before. May I?" He didn't want to, but he felt what was the point of arguing.
After Blue casted the shield she smiled at the two and left. Ruby eyed Jim.
"What do you have against her now? Whatever she did during the curse is gone now."
"It's not what she did here. It's what she did in the Enchanted Forest.
"What?" Ruby couldn't believe her ears. What did the Blue Fairy do that made Jim dislike her so much?
"Look, I had a complicated past with her way before I met you. Let's just leave it at that."
"But-" Jim handed her her bag of food.
"If you excuse me, I have someone to visit." Jim ignored anything else she had to say and entered Rose's room. Leaving Ruby alone in the hallway so many questions now.
