Chapter 2: Rebirth of the king (Part two)

-Las Noches, 600 years ago-

Edvairn Louisenbairn, 8th king of Hueco Mundo, was frustrated. His heir and disciple Baraggan had disappeared once again, probably to neglect his training and look at the moon again. He sat on his throne, looking down on the kneeling skeleton. Edvairn was a juggernaut of a king, his strength being the greatest of all of the past kings, and his honor matching that of theirs. resembled a lion, with a silver white mane, and fur as black as the night. He wore beautifully crafted armor, that still put function over form, but being a cold steel gray with engravings of the moon and the royal crest of Hueco Mundo decorating the pauldrons and chestpiece. In the middle of the chestplate was a large orange gem, that heavily contrasted the rest of the armor, but matched with Edvairns bright orange eyes, that looked like the fires of Hell. He was also an Arrancar which was born without a Hogyoku, on top of being a Vasto Lorde. His mask fragment were visible on the top of his head, resembling a crown. He had a look of visible annoyance on his face as he looked down on Baraggan.

"Baraggan, this is the fourth time that this has happened, and I'm starting to tire of it." Edvairn said sternly.

"I understand your majesty. It won't happen again." Baraggan said.

"Let me be frank, I have no issue with you going to look at the moon." Edvairn explained. "However, to do so at the cost of your training to be the next king of Hueco Mundo is foolish. Your training is important, if you are to be my heir, you must be able to lead the Hollows and the tribes of Hueco Mundo under one flag, ours."

"I know that your majesty, but I cannot resist it." Baraggan said. "I feel something when I look at the moon, a sense of peace and belonging, like it is a part of me."

"Is that so, Baraggan?" Edvairn asked. "I understand, a king must love the sight of his land if he truly wants to care for it, so that is admirable."

"It isn't like that your majesty. It goes beyond just a care for it, it feels like we are connected, and with it Hueco Mundo as a whole. I feel the Reishi from the souls that makes up everything here, like I'm one of them." Baraggan said, trying to find the right words.

"I see..." Edvairn sighed. "I will allow you to do that, but only in your free time, no matter how important you think looking at the moon is, your training is just as important, even more so."

"Thank you your majesty." Baraggan said, standing up and walking away.

As Baraggan was walking away, Edvairn called.

"Also, Baraggan, I was thinking of going out on a hunting trip soon, and I want you to come with me. I think that you will soon master your Respira, which will make you a most potent adversary."

Baraggan nodded politely, and continued walking away. He made his way through the twisting hallways of las Noches, until he made his way to the top of one of the towers. Baraggan sat down and looked at the moon, almost reverently.

"They don't understand me, they don't feel the same connection to you as I do." Baraggan thought.

"Of course they don't understand you." A voice said to him, reveberating in his head. "You are different, you make even the kings of old look common of comparision look common, because you are the one that I chose."

-Baraggan's inner world-

"You will be reborn," Arrogante declared. "And you, Baraggan Louisenbairn, will become the true 9th king of Hueco Mundo, and bring pride to your predeccesors."

Baraggan looked at Arrogante. "How can I do that?" Baraggan asked, annoyed. "I happen to be dead, so it might be hard to become king again."

"Yes, you did die, but not entirely." Arrogante said. "Did you know, that in the Soul Society, when souls die, their Reiatsu is broken up into the Reishi that makes up the Seireitei and Soul Society? That is also the case in Hueco Mundo, but slighly different. When a Hollow consumes another Hollow, part of the consumed Hollow's power goes to the consumer, but the rest is broken down into the Reishi that makes up the entirety of Hueco Mundo.

"What's the point of telling me this?" Baraggan asked, confused.

"Let me finish talking." Arrogante said. "No wonder you're so dull-minded, you have no patience..." Arrogante muttered. "Anyways, there are also different classes of Reiatsu in the Soul Society, ranging from numbers 1 to 20, the lower the number the more Reiryoku, or spiritual power you possess. Captains in the Gotei 13 have classes of 3 and above. Spirit classes 3 and above cannot be broken down by the Soul Society, and are thus discarded into Hell. This is the same for Hueco Mundo as well, but slighly different, instead of captains you have for example the Espada, which you are a part of. Even then, most beings would just become spiritual anomalies and rifts in Hueco Mundo, but you are different Baraggan Louisenbairn. Even if Aizen usurped your throne and took the title of king, Hueco Mundo never accepted him, for he was a Soul Reaper, and could not be chosen. Your soul also shares a connection to Hueco Mundo that even the previous kings of Hueco Mundo never had. That, is why you can return.

Baraggan was about to say something, but Arrogante continued to talk.

"However, if I just sent you back to Hueco Mundo as you are now, you wouldn't have learnt a single thing, and you would end up as the same weak ruler that you used to be." Arrogante said. "A person who has only ever eaten and eaten will understand the blessing of food after not eating for months. Arrogante pointed at Baraggan. "You, Baraggan Louisenbairn, who died and failed due to your sin of arrogance, will have to start again, and claw your way to the top again, and redeem your sin. You will have then learnt to appreciate everything that you had lost, and become a true king. By becoming the weakest and then the strongest again, you will have learnt to be humble, yet arrogant, caring, yet cold, ruthless, yet merciful. "

Arrogante raised both of his hands, and Baraggan started to feel weaker and weaker, like he was losing his power.

"You will go from a king to a mere Gillian, and rise to the rank of king once again. Baraggan started to black out, but before everything went black he looked down and saw the sands and moon of Hueco Mundo underneath him, and heard the voice of Arrogante. "Riches to rags, rags to riches."

A/N: Chapter two, and I think I maybe went too far in explaining the nitty and gritty details, mostly during Arrogante's rant. But I like having everything make sense, so I tried to tie in the Konso Reisai into how Baraggan got reborn. Also, the flashback to Edvairn might have been out of blue, but I want to try and make Baraggan a more compelling character than "cocky skeleton guy", but I'll continue trying to flesh him out through a character arc and flashbacks. Next chapter will be Baraggan starting his journey to kingdom again, and maybe learning some new skills along the way.
