CHAPTER 4: THE QUEEN'S INVITATION
"Eurora, before I read- how come I never heard about all of this?"
Eurora scratched the back of her head awkwardly. "Well, I guess only the monarchs were supposed to know. Gwerdyn wants you to know this now, and share it with others."
Kendra nodded understandingly. "Now, shall we?" she said, gesturing towards the paper.
Nervously, her eyes skimmed the page resting at the beginning line.

Kendra looked up, an anxious feeling developing in the pit of her stomach. "Oh gosh, Rora, I think she choosing me. I fit all the criteria. You know I'm 17 and I'm also a fairykind."
Eurora looked up, alarmed. "But, there could be hundreds of fairykinds aged 17. Why you?
"Actually," Kendra whispered, shaking her head. "The Fairy Queen told me I was the only fairykind alive. The last one died 50 years ago."
It took a while to let those words sink in.
"What does her letter say?" asked Kendra, pointing to the last envelope left in Eurora's hand.
They read it together:
My dearest Kendra,
I know you have read my story and the prophecy. I am inviting you to be the next Queen, my heir so I may rest in peace, knowing that my kingdom is in capable hands. The benefits of being Queen are many. I can only list a few here.
Of course, there is immortality, as mentioned in the prophecy. You also have the power to grant immortality to others, anyone you wish. But, my dear, be careful with your choices. You will be the superior monarch over everyone, and all magical creatures will acknowledge you as their Queen, appointed by me.
The mission is that, you, Kendra, my chosen avenger, will find my enemy, Malderoat and finish him off for me. Of course, you will not be alone. If you accept, your best friend Eurora will be your companion and guardian for life⦠known as a Fairy Duchessa.
Will you accept the position of being the Light Guardian?
Yours truly,
Light Guardian
