CHAPTER 5: THE CHOICE
SETH'S POV:
I had an eerie feeling I was being followed. I mean, come on, I was in the fairy realm and Ronodin was looking for me. I had a right to feel that way. Right?
Suddenly, I heard someone shouting my name far off. The voice was creepily familiar to me, and I was drawn to it.
My thoughts wandered to my family. How were they managing with me and Bracken missing? I really did miss my sister, though I didn't want to admit it.
"Let's go and check it out." I broke off from my thoughts, startled. "Check what out?" I asked.
"The voice," answered Calvin from my pocket. I glanced behind me. "You think it would be safe?"
Calvin laughed. "Definitely not. Did you not hear the saying 'curiosity killed the cat'?"
I looked at the glowing vortex ahead of me.
"I guess dangerous stuff is just my type," I replied, flying towards the vortex.
Just as I passed through, I saw that I was in an iron-bolted cage. "Just exactly what I wanted," a voice purred next to me.
Shocked, I jolted up and was surprised by what I saw.
KENDRA'S POV:
I froze. "Um, oh wow. This is so overwhelming," I finally made out. Eurora was speechless.
"Oh my gosh, Kendra," she gushed, "You should totally accept! But it's your decision."
I pondered the offer quickly. If I accepted, I could save Bracken and the others. If not, there would probably be a slim chance I even made it in the realm. And, I most definitely did not want the world to end.
"Erm, yeah Rory. I definitely don't want the end of the world, not when I can prevent it. I also see how it can help me in saving Bracken, Seth, and the other hostages."
I squared my shoulders, making a decision I knew would change my life. "I accept."
Eurora cheered, glowing with pride. "That's my girl!"
Out of nowhere, a sparkling tiara appeared, studded with thousands of expensive jewels.
"Now, Kens, it's time to crown you."
Kendra knelt ceremoniously, tilting her head up. "Repeat after me.
I, Kendra Marie Sorenson, accept the position of Light Guardian, and all the responsibilities.
I swear to work for the good of the world and will make all decisions to the best of my ability. I promise to avenge Gwerdyn, as it is my mission. I will abide by all of this."
I echoed the words and a massive transformation took place.
I felt myself being filled with tremendous power, and stunning physical changes.
Eurora gasped, a hint of envy evident in her face. "Oh my goodness, look at you, Kendra. You look like a goddess," she said admiringly.
I stepped in front of the mirror, and was not prepared for what I saw
For once, I had fairy wings.
My dark hair changed into a golden-blonde that flowed across my shoulders. My emerald green eyes shone with a new light, understanding, and wisdom.
The tiara was placed firmly in my hair and framed my face beautifully. My casual clothes had transformed into warrior's armor. A strong breastplate protected my chest, glowing a golden aura.
The boots I wore were stylish and classy, while also being very protective. My dagger I had was newly polished and strapped to my left. And a gorgeous-looking sword was strapped at her side.
In all, I was stunning. Gorgeous. Fierce. 'Don't mess with me,' I seemed to be warning.
I drew my sword and was not ready for the overwhelming surge of confidence I felt. It was a hundred times stronger than Vasilis. I suddenly felt like I could go against the world and win, which I probably could. Not going to try that though, anytime soon.
The sword glowed a brilliant light, causing me to blink rapidly. In the hilt, these letters were carved in a fairy language: LUMINOUS.
Eurora was gazing admiring at me. "Kendra, you look so beautiful," she gushed.
I spun around to face my best friend. "You're changing too," I said, gaping.
Eurora's long black hair changed to a gorgeous silver, the same as her eyes. Her hair was adorned in a silver headband. She was also dressed in armor, giving off a silvery sheen.
A crossbow was in her hands and a pack of bows were strapped to her back. She was great with a bow and arrow and I'd seen how fast and quick her aim was. A dagger was strapped to her waist, polished finely.
Her eyes were fierce, loyal and determined. 'Bring it on,' she seemed to be saying.
After all, her job was to protect me now.
"Oh," she said, gazing at her reflection in the mirror, "I think I'll love being a Fairy Duchessa. Bracken is so not going to recognize us," she smirked.
"I know. Now, are we ready to leave?" I asked, grinning.
"You bet we are! With two powerful fairies against Ronodin, and the Light Guardian's blessing… what could go wrong?"
