Author's Note: Expectations
Hello everyone, this is Fireworks174 and this is not a new chapter of Black Lagoon: Barcode. In the first chapter, I mentioned that I wanted to go into detail about the course of the story and I decided to just have it on a separate page. Don't worry, I'm going to get to work on the next chapter sometime next week, or whenever I can find the time. Anyway, before we get to the main topic, let me shine some light on this. BTW. There are no spoilers at all.
If any of you have seen my user profile, then you'll know that I like adding my ideas to my stories, and I put a lot of consideration into what concepts should be added without disturbing the overall flow of the writing.
Nothing Over-Powered (Unless there's a good reason) & No Harems(I'm a romance nut and the idea of multiple lovers bothers me unless it's well written)
Sorry to those who like those concepts, but you'll never find them in my stories.
That said, I found myself coming up with a variety of ideas that seemed to go against my rules.
To put it simply, I started coming up with some slight sci-fi concepts because I was looking through CoD and Hitman Fandom. As much as I tried to disregard for a more realistic atmosphere as Black Lagoon is loosely based on our world, the ideas kept coming back with a vengeance. This was kinda expected since I prefer creating stories that separate our reality from theirs, so it's been rather difficult to create the plotline. It got to the point where I nearly wanted to cancel BL: BC, but I'm no quitter and I wanted to share this with everyone. Ultimately, I made two new rules.
Rule 1: No matter the concepts, if there's a way to add it, then find it.
Rule 2: Take pride in what you write and how you think, even if you feel others will not.
With those in my mind, I threw myself into research, looking for a solution for this dilemma. And after many(I do mean MANY) attempts, I came up with a solution that works out well.
First, I'm keeping everything as realistic as possible. These ideas were sci-fi(that is true), but they will NOT overthrow the plot and will remain as minor details related to Black Lagoon: Barcode. Without spoiling it, think of it like the Hitman universe is superior to our own in terms of technology and science. They achieved human cloning in the 1960s and have highly advanced AIs by 2020. To keep things real, I went through several history databases and found out that some advanced concepts had begun in the 1980s and I decided to speed up the building process a little. That's my little secret.
Second, I decided to merge the concepts of Black Lagoon and Hitman to create something that was both familiar, yet different in equal measures.
This leads us to the whole point of this page.
What To Expect From Black Lagoon: Barcode?
Which is this, and to be honest, I'm posting this more for myself than you.
No Silent Assassin Rating: People other than the targets will be killed. While 47/Rock will try to avoid collateral damages, if something stands between him and his objective, then it must be dealt with, lethally or otherwise. This is going as realistic as I can without disturbing the magic that is Agent 47.
Not Joining The Lagoon Company: When I say this, I don't mean that we're not going to see them again. As you tell, Rock has a very demanding career, so becoming a pirate is not possible. That said, he'll assist them on a few jobs when he's available.
Limited Weapon Choices: Still on the fence with this one, but his special briefcase will carry his signature selection, without going into details. Now, he will use other weapons (It's Hitman and Black Lagoon. Weapons Galore, Baby!), but that depends on the situation and the environment. After all, everything is a weapon in the hands of 47.
Romance?: Perhaps, I'm considering the possibility. For now, it's a yes, unless proven otherwise.
Will There Be A Happy Ending?: I suppose so, but…it won't be something easily earned… and not everyone will be there to see it.
Alright! I think it covered everything I wanted to explain today. And it's 9:54 pm. If you have questions, feel free to put them down in the Reviews and I might answer them.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Next time, I'll have the second chapter ready for everyone.
Once again, Thank You and Good Night.
