Brenda appeared and Newt was on the ground gasping for air. Thomas was above him and the knife was buried deep in his chest. She stopped and Thomas looked at her.
"Give it to him. Now! He's still breathing," Thomas shouted and Brenda ran to him. She gave Newt the injection as Thomas put pressure on his wound.
"What happened?"
"He stabbed himself," Thomas told her. The others appeared and they stopped in their tracks.
"Newt?"
"Shit."
"He's dying. Help us!" Thomas shouted and they ran to him. "Brenda's given him the serum, but the knife is..."
"Did you stab him?"
"He stabbed himself!" Thomas screamed at them.
"Ok. Ok, I've got him," Minho said and he took over putting pressure on Newt's wound.
"Arh. Arh..." Newt gasped as the veins faded and his blood turned red.
"It's buried, I don't we can..." Frypan gasped.
"Get him to the ship. We have medical supplies and we can stop the bleeding there."
"It could have hit his heart..."
"We have to try. Move!" Thomas shouted and together they picked Newt up.
"What the...?" Jorge asked as they got back to the ship.
"Help him. We need to help him," Thomas said as they put Newt on the floor of the ship.
"I've given him the serum."
"Shit!" Thomas yelled before he stepped back and Vince pulled out a medical scanner.
"It's just missed his heart," He said as it scanned Newt's chest. "It hasn't hit any arteries but it's compressing his lung. Gally, I need you to press as hard as you can," Vince said before he pulled the knife out. "Press!" He shouted and Gally did so. "Keep pressure on it."
"Teresa," Thomas muttered.
"What?"
"Teresa, I need to..." Thomas said before he looked at Newt. He then looked at Brenda. "I'm sorry," He said before he ran off.
"Thomas!"
"We need to go Brenda. Now!" Jorge shouted and he had to pull her inside the plane.
"I need a stem and surgical kit. NOW!" Vince shouted and everyone got to it. He cleaned his hands and the plane took off.
"Where's Thomas gone?"
"I don't know."
"I need to stop the bleeding. Thank you. Hands off Gally," Vince said and he removed the pressure.
"Tell me he's breathing," Gally said as Vince put his fingers inside of Newt's wound. Minho nodded at Gally.
"He is. But it's weak."
"Shit. Where is it?" Vince said as he tried to find the bleed.
"Come on Vince."
"Got it. Got it," Vince said and miraculously, he found the artery that had been cut and he stopped the bleeding. "Sheathe," Vince said and Jorge handed him a medical device. Minho and Gally watched as they worked on Newt. Together, Vince and Jorge stopped the bleeding and they started stitching him up.
"He's still breathing," Minho said and tears filled Gally's eyes.
"He should be alright, as long as we get there on time. Where's Thomas?" Vince asked as he was holding the bloodied needle in his hand.
"He went back for Teresa."
"What?"
"It doesn't matter. Can you finish working on Newt?"
"Of course," Vince said and he successfully closed the wound. Wrapping it in bandages to prevent infection, Minho was tracking Newt's pulse and breathing.
"How is he Minho?"
"I think he's improving. He's not gasping as much as he was before."
"He's not as pale as he was."
"Well, you've stopped him from bleeding to death," Gally said and Minho looked at him.
"We almost lost him."
"He's not out of the woods yet. I need you both to help watch him."
"I'll take the first shift. I know how his breathing and pulse are."
"Alright," Vince said and he sorted Newt out. Fifteen minutes past and Vince and Gally to some rest while Minho stayed awake to look after Newt.
Thomas got back onto the plane and Teresa was killed. He wiped his tears before going over to Minho, who was kneeling by Newt's head. They had turned Newt onto his side and his breathing had improved.
"How's he doing Minho?" Thomas asked as he knelt down.
"He's improving. His breathing's getting better and all the black veins have disappeared."
"Thank goodness," Thomas said and he checked Newt's right wrist. "He was scratched here, but it's clear."
"It worked."
"His chest, what about the knife?"
"Vince stopped the bleeding and stitched him up. He still needs treating, but he should be alright."
"Oh Newt," Thomas said before he started to cry.
"He's going to be ok Thomas. He's going to be ok."
Two hours passed and Minho woke Gally up to watch Newt as he got some rest.
"Are you doing ok Thomas?" Gally asked him as he came over.
"He almost died Gally. He almost died in my arms."
"I know, but he didn't. He's here and he's going to be ok."
"He stabbed himself. It was... it was too close..."
"Hey," Gally said as he came over to Thomas and hugged him. "He's here and he's going to be alright."
"Yeah..."
"He's going to ok Thomas."
"I'm the cure," Thomas said after a few moments.
"What?"
"For the virus. It was me. The cure is my blood."
"Well, it doesn't surprise me."
"It means we can cure Newt. For good."
"Great, except do you know how to extract it? The specific enzyme that we need?"
"No, but Teresa already did," Thomas said before he pulled out the vial of blue liquid.
"That's the cure?"
"That's it."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
"Ok," Gally said and Thomas rolled up one of Newt's sleeves. "Woah, don't give it to him yet."
"Why not?"
"He's been stabbed. His body needs to recover from that, and he's had the serum. You've got it, but let's wait. We need to be sure that it works."
"What do you mean? We have to wait for the virus to affect him again don't you?" Thomas said and Gally paused. "Gally, I know that Teresa betray us but..."
"It's not her that I'm worried about."
"Brenda had the virus and she's recovered fully. That was because of me, the doctor used an enzyme from my blood to cure her."
"I'm not risking Newt's life."
"Gally's right," Brenda said as she woke up and Thomas looked at her. "There's only one way to know for certain that the cure works."
"We almost lost Newt."
"I know. It's to help Newt. We won't let it get that worse again, I promise. Trust me Thomas," Gally said and Thomas looked at him with tears in his eyes. "Trust me," He said and Thomas nodded. Reluctantly, he handed Gally the vial and he lay down beside Newt. "Keep an eye on Thomas Brenda. I'll stay with Newt."
"Ok," Brenda said and Thomas felt her hand on his side. "It's almost over Thomas. It's almost over," She said, and Thomas fell asleep.
They arrived at the safe haven and Thomas carried Newt into the medical tent.
"Careful. He's still hurt," Thomas said as Newt was put down on the bed.
"We know, it's ok," Vince told him and he gently lay Newt's head onto the pillow.
"What now?"
"I need to redo his stitches and dis-infect the wound. You might want to wait outside."
"Ok."
"Thomas, let's go," Gally said and reluctantly, Thomas left the hut.
"I can't believe he's still alive," Thomas said as they got outside.
"He could have killed you."
"He almost did," Thomas said, looking at his shirt.
"Shit. Was that Newt?" Gally asked, seeing the knife hole in Thomas's T-shirt.
"Not Newt. The crank. Brenda was too late. She was too late."
"She saved Newt's life."
"Newt stabbed himself. Stabbed. If she'd got there earlier…"
"You need to go to bed Thomas."
"I do," Thomas confessed.
"I've got you," Minho said and he helped Thomas to his hammock.
"How is he?" Gally asked two hours later as he went into the tent.
"He's healing. The wound is clean and the stitches will hold."
"It's a miracle that he's still alive."
"It is. The knife missed his heart by a few millimetres. He could have been dead in seconds, but he wasn't."
"Trust Newt to accidently save his own life."
"I'm exhausted. Can you keep an eye on him while I get some rest?" Vince asked Gally.
"Of course."
"If you need me, please wake me up."
"I will."
"Goodnight," Vince said, and he left. Gally sat beside Newt and looked at him.
"Trust you to get us all worried Newt. Almost killing Thomas, almost killing yourself. We were all scared. Seriously," Gally said. He paused before he took Newt's hand into his own. "You're warm, that's good. Really good. Please come back Newt. You have to. For Minho. Thomas. And for me. We were friends once. I still care about you and... and..." Gally said, and he started to cry. "Please Newt."
"Newt?" Thomas asked and Newt opened his eyes. It took a second for them to adjust, but when they did, he saw Thomas above him. "Newt," Thomas said, tears forming in his eyes.
"We got you the serum. Newt, you're ok," Thomas told him. Tears started to fall down his face, but still Newt just looked at his friend. "Hey Newt. Can you hear me ok?"
"I can hear you," Newt whispered after a moment.
"You've... you've been out for a few days, but you're safe. You're alive and we're all safe."
"I thought that was it..." Newt said as he too started to cry. "I thought I... Tommy..."
"I know. I thought it was too. Brenda gave you the serum and we got you to the plane. They managed to remove the knife and stop the bleeding. It was close Newt, but you made it. You made it."
"The serum only gives me so long."
"I have a solution for that too," Thomas said and Newt paused before he looked across from Thomas.
"Where are we?"
"We're at the safe haven. There's no virus, no WCKD. We're safe. It's over," Thomas said and Newt raised his hand. Thomas took it and kissed it before he held onto it tightly. Newt smiled a little. "We almost lost you Newt," Thomas said as more tears fell down his face.
"I almost killed you."
"I thought you had," Thomas said and Newt's face fell. "I thought you had stabbed me. But when I saw..."
"Tommy," Newt whispered and Thomas looked at him. "I had to," Newt said and Thomas hugged him.
"Do you need a hand?"
"Yes," Newt said and Thomas gave Newt a hand to sit up. "Is that ok?"
"Yeah. Argh..."
"I've got you," Thomas said and he helped Newt put the top on. "Let's get you up," Thomas said as he put Newt's arm around his shoulders. "On 3. 1, 2, 3."
"Sis," Newt groaned as Thomas helped him to stand up.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah."
"Come on," Thomas said, and he led Newt out of the tent. He shielded his eyes from the sunlight as Thomas supported him.
"Newt," Gally said as he saw him, and everyone rushed over.
"Careful," Minho said and they stopped just short of Newt. Newt looked at them and he fell a little.
"Woah," Thomas said, readjusting his weight.
"Let's sit him down."
"Come on Newt."
"We've got you," Gally said and together they sat Newt down. They knelt in-front of him and touched him.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah."
"He's still weak, but he's ok."
"I am," Newt said, giving Thomas a smile.
"I thought you were dead. That knife was sticking out of your chest, and you were basically a crank."
"We got to you just in time. The knife just skimmed past your heart."
"Oh, I was aiming for that," Newt said and everyone laughed a little.
"Well, it's a very good thing that you missed," Thomas said and Newt smiled.
"Yeah."
"Are you in any pain?" Frypan asked him.
"No. I'm just sore... and tired."
"Almost dying will do that to you."
"Yeah. Thank you. For bringing me back."
"Of course," Minho said and he hugged Newt.
"Careful. He's still weak Minho," Thomas told him.
"We know," Gally said and they took it in turns to hug Newt gently.
"Are you hungry?" Frypan asked Newt as he hugged him.
"Not for your... your food," Newt said and they smiled.
"I'll get someone else to cook for you."
"Thank you."
"What do you want to do Newt? Do you want to lie down or walk?"
"Sit. What is that Tommy?" Newt asked as he looked out, over the water.
"It's the sea."
"The sea?"
"Let's take you to it. Come on," Thomas said and he and Minho helped Newt down to the beach and they sat him on the sand.
The water lapped over Newt's legs and he smiled. Gally brought him something to eat and they gave him water. Newt fell asleep on them, and they were all relieved that he was alive.
"Morning Newt," Minho said as he woke up.
"Minho."
"How are you feeling?"
"A little better. But..."
"Do you want me to help you?"
"Yes."
"Come on," Minho said and he helped Newt to sit upright in his hammock.
"This still all feels like a dream."
"You did turn into a crank and bury a knife in your own chest."
"Yeah. How could I forget that?"
"Drink some of this."
"What is it?" Newt asked as Minho handed him a bottle.
"It's water. It won't hurt you."
"Hmn," Newt said before he drank some.
"It's nice to see you awake Newt," Vince said as he came over.
"It's good to be awake."
"There were moments when I thought that you wouldn't pull through. But here you are."
"Thank you," Newt said, and he handed the water back to Minho. "Thank you for helping me."
"It's my pleasure, and I'm glad that we were able to save you. Do you see that rock over there?"
"Yeah. The big one, by the water?"
"That's it. That's for everyone we've lost. Thankfully, your name isn't on it. But if there's someone you've lost," Vince said before he handed the chisel to Newt. "You can make sure they're never forgotten."
Newt took it and thought for a moment.
"Alby," He whispered.
"Do you need a hand?"
"Yes," Newt said and Minho helped him to walk to the stone. "Minho."
"Yeah?"
"Do you think you could find me a walking stick?" Newt asked and Minho smiled.
"Getting sick of me are you?"
"No. But it would be easier."
"I'll find one."
"Thank you," Newt said and Minho left him by the stone before he went searching for one.
"To the ones we loved," Vince cheered and everyone raised their mugs at the table. "And to the ones we lost. May they live on forever in our hearts."
"Aye!" Everyone called and they drank.
"The ones we saved," Minho said after a moment and he put his hand onto Newt's back, and Newt smiled.
"And the ones who saved me," Newt added/
"Who did we save?"
"Me," Newt told Thomas and Gally butted in.
"Why?"
"Don't be mean," Thomas told Gally.
"What? It's not like we care about him. Hey!" Gally called as Thomas threw some food at him. A food fight erupted and everyone was left feeling good and laughing.
Two months later, they were working on a new building and Newt was quiet. Thomas kept exchanging looks with Gally and Minho. They knew that the serum would start to wear off around this time and Newt would need more. For the last few days, they had all felt that Newt was hiding something from them.
"Newt," Gally said as he went over to him after a moment. "Are you doing ok?"
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"
"Just making sure," Gally said with a smile before he left him and went back over to Thomas and Minho.
"Well?"
"He's pale, and his arm was trembling."
"Which arm?"
"His right arm."
"Ok. He's getting sick again."
"Why's he it keeping from us?"
"Because he's scared. The serum only slows the virus, it doesn't stop it."
"But you've got the cure."
"He doesn't know that I do."
"Why not? We need to tell him and use it."
"We will," Thomas said, stopping Minho as he went to walk to Newt. "But let's be gentle with him first."
"You know Newt, Minho. He's going to be terrified right now."
"I know, but I know that he needs us. He suffers more when he thinks that he can cope without us."
"I know Minho," Thomas said, putting more pressure on Minho's chest to stop him walking away. "I know. Just trust me on this ok?" Thomas said and Minho looked at him. He then looked at Gally, and then back at Thomas.
"If I have to, I will stab him with it myself."
"I know," Thomas said, and Minho went back to his job.
"Hey Newt."
"Hey," Newt said as Thomas found him by his hammock a few hours later. Newt was pale and he felt awful. The infection had started to spread once more and Newt could feel the crank inside of him wanting to take control.
"It's coming back?" Thomas asked after a moment. Newt held his arm and he looked down.
"Yeah. I can feel the infection spreading Thomas. I can feel the crank taking over me, slowly choking me."
"We can stop it. Newt, we can stop it."
"The serum only gives me time Tommy. I can't do this to you."
"Do what?"
"I can't let you watch me die. Again and again until I become one of those... things. It will take over me and try to kill you. All of you. I can't stand that. I won't stand that."
"We can help you Newt. We can."
"You can't Tommy. I need to leave. This is a safe place, without the virus and I won't risk all your lives for mine," Newt said as he stood up and started walking to the beach.
"Newt, wait."
"No, Thomas. I won't let the crank inside of me kill you. I won't."
"I have the cure," Thomas said, and Newt stopped. "It's the only one, but Gally said that we should wait."
"The cure?" Newt asked as he turned to him. "Thomas, if there was a cure, we wouldn't have had to escape from WCKD. They wouldn't have hunted us and tortured Minho. They..."
"I'm the cure," Thomas said and Newt went quiet. "It's my blood. There's something in it. It kills the virus. It's why Brenda isn't sick anymore. Teresa made a vial and..."
"Wait. Teresa?"
"I went after her once got you onto the plane. I know you that don't trust her..."
"Don't trust her? Thomas, she betray us, she sold us back to WCKD. She's the reason that Minho was taken, she's the reason why we went after them, she's the reason what I was infected!" Newt shouted and it was Thomas's turn to go quiet. "I'm... I'm sorry. I'm sorry Tommy..."
"It's ok. You're right Newt," Thomas replied.
"I..." Newt said before he stumbled and Minho caught him.
"Newt."
"Newt, you ok?" Thomas asked as Minho sat with him on the ground.
"I'm sorry, I..."
"It's ok Newt," Minho reassured him. Everyone was gathering around them and Thomas brought out the vial. "You're terrified. I know," Minho said and Newt looked at his friend.
"This will work Newt. I promise," Thomas added and he took Newt's infected arm into his grip.
"I don't want to hurt you."
"You won't. Let us help you Newt. Let me help you."
"Minho..."
"It cured Brenda Newt. It will cure you too."
"Trust me. You've trusted me before," Minho told Newt.
"Always," Newt said and Minho kissed forehead.
"I'm not going to let you die."
"None of us are," Gally said as he crouched down and Newt smiled before he coughed.
"I won't let you hurt us Newt. I won't."
"It's the only one?" Newt asked as he turned to Thomas and he looked at the vial.
"We only need one," Thomas said and Newt looked at him before he closed his eyes.
"And what if it doesn't work?"
"Then we will live and enjoy every second with you until we have to kill the crank. You're family to us Newt."
"We won't let you go alone."
"Thank you," Newt said before he looked at them.
"It's going to work Newt."
"Ok. Ok Tommy. Please. Please," Newt said, and he stretched his arm out.
"Let's hope this works," Vince said and Thomas injected the cure into Newt.
Newt gasped deeply, long and strained.
Then, he fell unconscious.
Silence fell in the safe haven and Thomas's blood turned cold.
"Shit. Newt? Newt, it's Thomas."
"Is he dead?" Gally asked as he came over and Vince took Newt's pulse.
"No."
"Why aren't the veins fading?"
"They are," Minho said and they watched Newt, his head resting against Minho's chest. Faint black veins were fading from his face and his skin was regaining colour.
"Is it working?"
"It seems to be," Vince said. They stayed until all the veins had faded and Newt looked like he was asleep. "Get him to his hammock. I want a constant watch on him, just in case it hasn't worked."
"I've got him," Gally said and he picked him up from Minho. Taking him to his hammock, Vince took the first watch while the others tried to get some rest.
Thomas woke up and when he looked over, he saw that Newt was gone.
"Newt?" He asked, and he noticed that Minho was gone too. Becoming worried, he got up in the rising sun and set off looking for them. "Newt? Minho? Where are you?"
"The way the sun always woke me up first before anyone else."
"You would wake the whole glade up at the first chance you got," Thomas heard Minho say and he heard Newt laugh in response. "Morning Thomas," Minho said as he saw him. He and Newt were knotting some rope together for the new building.
"Newt. You're ok," Thomas said, a little surprised.
"Yeah. I feel better than I have done in months," Newt said and he hugged Thomas.
"There's no sign of the infection?"
"No. It might have just delayed it but..."
"We won't know until a few months have passed," Minho said.
"Yeah," Newt replied, and he looked nervous.
"It's ok. Newt, I have faith that it worked."
"Faith in what?"
"Myself?" Thomas asked and Newt smiled a little.
"I want it to be true. More than anything. I want to be ok."
"You will be," Minho said as he came over to Newt. "You will be," He said. Newt started to cry and Minho hugged him. "We're here Newt. We're with you."
"You've helped us so much Newt. Let us help you."
"All we want for you to be back to your normal self."
After a moment, Newt looked up and he wiped his tears away. "I don't want to be... I don't want to be a monster."
"You're not a monster Newt."
"I'm not immune."
"You don't have to be. Newt, you're one of us. You're cured," Thomas said and Newt looked him in the eyes. "You've been cured. You're not a monster."
"Can you feel it?" Minho asked. "The crank?"
"No," Newt said. "No, I just feel like myself."
"And you're enough. If it didn't work, Newt, I will put you on a boat myself. Let us love you as much as you love us. Ok?" Thomas asked and Newt nodded. He then looked at Minho.
"You've done so much for us," Minho said and Newt smiled. He then looked down and tears fell from his face.
"Hey, Newt?" Thomas asked as he wiped them away.
"Help me," Newt said as he was crying, and he looked at his family.
"We're here. We love you."
"We're with you Newt," Minho said and they hugged each other. "Ok, we have knots to do," Minho said Newt smiled.
"What are we doing?"
"Fisherman's double knot."
"You like to make it complicated," Thomas said and they tied knots together.
"Ok, you can put your top back on," Vince said and Newt put it on. He was in the medical hut and Vince had just finished checking him over for any signs of the flare. "As far as I can see, you're clear. Normally, you would have needed another dose of the serum by this point. It does look like the cure worked."
"Can you keep checking? I'm not sure that I believe it yet."
"I will. For you, for myself and for the safety of all of us."
"Thank you," Newt said and he went to leave. Vince put his hand on Newt's chest and stopped him.
"You need to accept that you're free of the virus Newt," Vince told him. "There is life without it, and all your friends are worried about you."
"I know. I just need more time," Newt said and Vince nodded, letting him go, but Newt didn't move. "It's hard. I was dying, and... and now I have my life back. I also wasn't just dying, I was being taken over. Chocked out of my own body, loosing control. I could feel myself being taken away."
"None said that this would be easy. But everyone here cares about you, and if you need help, don't be afraid to ask for it."
"I know. Thank you Vince."
"Alright. Get out of here," Vince said and Newt left.
"I have an announcement," Vince said and everyone looked at him during dinner. "It's been 8 months and Newt has shown no signs of having the virus. Therefore, I am publicly declaring, that he has been cured."
"Woo!"
"Yeah!"
"Newt!" His friends called and Newt looked at them. He smiled and held his arm.
"Newt?" Vince asked as a moment of panic flashed through him.
"I can't believe it," Newt said with tears in his eyes. He revealed his arm and ran his hand over his clean skin. "I have a new life. Everyone here, has played a part in bringing me back. I plunged a knife deep into my chest, felt a crank consume me. But thanks to Vince for removing the knife," Newt said as he looked at him. "And Thomas for giving me some of his blood," Newt said as his gaze moved to Thomas and everyone laughed. "I am cured. The virus is gone, and I am still alive. It's not been easy, but I love every single one of you."
"We love you too Newt!" Gally called and everyone cheered.
"I can rely on you, and I can ask for help when I need it. Without these checks from Vince, I could have still had the flare and caused the death of everyone here. I've almost killed one of my friends before," Newt said before he looked at Thomas. "And I would do anything to keep him and all of you safe. Thank you Vince. And thank you to everyone, for saving my life."
"To Newt," Minho said as he raised his glass.
"To Newt!" Everyone called as they did the same. They drank and sat back down.
It grew dark and, while the dinner party was very much alive, Newt got up from the table and walked down to the water. Gally, Thomas and Minho watched him leave.
"I'll go," Minho said and he went after Newt.
"Hey," Minho said as he reached Newt. Newt turned a little to face him. He was crying and Minho put his hand onto Newt's shoulder.
"It's over, " Newt said quietly as he looked out at the sea. "It's finally over Minho..."
"It is," Minho replied and Newt rested his head against him. Minho held him and tears fell down Newt's face.
"Is he ok?" Gally asked from a distance a few minutes later.
"Yeah," Minho replied with a nod, and Newt slowly collapsed. "Woah, Newt. Newt."
"Shit. Newt," Gally said as he came to them. "Is he ok?"
"I think so," Minho said as he knelt with Newt on the ground.
"Tired," Newt whispered as he closed his eyes and let his head fall against Minho's chest.
"I've got you."
"Newt?"
"He's ok," Gally told Thomas as he came over.
"He's been through a lot," Minho said and Thomas crouched beside them.
"He has. But he's finally ok."
"We all are. Newt was a crank and had a knife buried in his chest less than a year ago."
"I know."
"Minho," Gally said as he saw him running his hand over Newt's chest. "Is everything ok?"
"Yeah," Minho said before he moved his hand to Newt's bad leg. "He's just been through a lot."
"Morning," Minho said as Newt opened his eyes.
"Minho."
"How are you feeling?"
"Much better. What happened?"
"You fainted on the beach."
"I was tired."
"You fainted," Minho repeated and Newt smiled. "The sunrise is beautiful from the shoreline. Do you want to walk with me?"
"Yeah."
"Come on," Minho said and they walked down the beach as the sun started to rise. "You know that you can talk to me Newt. About anything."
"I know," Newt said, and he felt the sand move underneath his bare feet.
"We're family Newt. We have support one another."
"And we love each other."
"We love you. Newt, I love you. And we will always be here to support you."
"So will I. I was protecting you all, when I..."
"I know, but I thought that I told you to hold on."
"I tried, but I got very close to killing Thomas Minho."
"You did. You certainly gave it a good shot."
"He's not angry at me about that?"
"Not at all."
"Good," Newt said before he looked down. "My life's been saved three times now, mostly by you. You brought me back to the glade after I jumped: you saved me again after I was shot: then everyone save me after I stabbed the cran inside of me."
"You have a habit of getting yourself hurt. But we're used to you being unconscious Newt. We know how to handle it and what to do," Minho said and Newt smiled.
"Thank you."
"Maybe now that we've got a new glade. You can get another hobby," Minho said and Newt laughed.
"Yeah. Our new glade," Newt said before he looked around. "It's green, basic, and we have Frypan's delicious stew every night. Only this time, there are no grievers."
"And no walls to jump off."
"And no WCKD."
"That's very important," Minho said and the conversation paused for a moment.
"I don't know what to do with these memories, Minho. They're new, and I don't know what to do with the past."
"Let them be. We had our glade with Alby. It was wonderful, back when we all had each other, and we were all in it together."
"We still are," Newt said, and he looked at the stone of remembrance.
