"YELLING"

Number 10, Spinners End Cokeworth, England, June 10th, 1974

The street of Spinners End was a relatively quiet place, with the occasional burst of a child's scream of joy, or the sound of someone having a pleasant and civilized conversation. At number 10, the conversation (or rather argument) between a pair of sisters, was anything but civilized, or enjoyable. This was the Evans home, where Mr. and Mrs. Evans lived with their two daughters: their eldest daughter, eighteen-year-old Petunia, and their youngest daughter, sixteen-year-old Lily, who also happened to be the aforementioned sisters that were arguing. The reason for Petunia and Lily arguing was, for what had to have been the hundredth time, Lily's extraordinary ability to perform magic, whereas Petunia couldn't. Lily was a witch, and thus was able to perform magic, and went to a magic school in Scotland named Hogwarts, Petunia was jealous that she couldn't do that, and often took her anger out on Lily; much to the disappointment of both of their parents.

"I don't understand why you don't just stay with one of your freak friends," Petunia spat at Lily, her face contorted in a scowl as she looked at her redheaded sister. "Instead of just spending the summer holiday with us."

"Because Petunia, I spend ten months at school with my friends, and would like to see my family," Lily replied heatedly, as she glared at her sister with tears misting in her eyes. "And my friends and I are not freaks!"

Lily hated it when her older sister called her a freak, and every time she did, it hurt her feelings and caused her to miss the days when they were able to get along and be sisters. But that all sadly changed, the day they met Severus Snape and revealed the truth about how Lily was a witch, and the Magic World that she would enter upon her eleventh birthday. After that, things were never the same between the two of them, and Lily had to constantly endure Petunia's anger and hatred for her gifts and abilities. It was slightly part of the reason why she became friends with Severus, as he was the only other person she initially knew, to be magical as well, and tried to maintain their friendship, despite a lot of the bad things he began to do when he fell in with several of the bigoted Purebloods in Slytherin and called her...

Lily shook her head clear of those thoughts, as she was still relatively upset about Severus calling her that unforgivable word, and ended up bringing their relationship to an end. Regardless, she still had other friends to spend time with, like Elizabeth Warren and her sister Helen, along with Marlene McKinnon, Alice Prewitt, Adam Davis, and Remus Lupin. She also couldn't help but admit that after breaking things off with Severus, she began to see Remus' other friends, Sirius Black and especially (surprisingly) James Potter, in a new light. At first, Lily believed that James was an arrogant toe rag, who was so full of himself that he liked to pick on others and be a bully. However, after she ended her friendship with Severus, and saw how much of a bully he had become with his Death Eater wannabe friends, she realized that the only people that James Potter and his friends targeted, were those who bullied others that couldn't defend themselves; it gave Lily a new view and perspective on the guy that she didn't like, but admittedly may have harbored secret feelings for a while.

"I will call your friends whatever I want Lily," Petunia snapped back, her eyes narrowed as she glared at her sister. "Because they are freaks, just like you!"

Lily was about to retort back until Mr. Evans slammed his fist on the table. This caused the two teen girls to jump in their chairs, as their father rarely, if ever, got mad. Looking at their father, the girls couldn't help but shrink in their chairs, Petunia a bit more than Lily.

"That is ENOUGH, both of you!" Mr. Evans said, looking at both his girls.

Just as Mr. Evans was about to reprimand his daughters, Petunia more so, for their behavior, the doorbell rang, followed by a gentle knock. Mr. and Mrs. Evans looked in the direction of the door, and then looked at their youngest daughter.

"Lily dear, would you be willing to get the door please," Mrs. Evans asked Lily. "Your father and I would like to have a moment alone with your sister."

Lily nodded her head, her auburn red hair slightly flapping at her head movement. Lily got up from her chair, and walked around the table towards the door, but not before kissing her father on the side of his head, as a peace offering. Lily strived to be like her mother, who was the unarguable peacekeeper in the family household; though considering her fierce temper, she did admittedly find it difficult to try and emulate being a peacekeeper like her mother. As Lily left the dining room, Mr. and Mrs. Evans looked at their eldest daughter, their glares causing Petunia to squirm in her chair.

"Petunia, we are severely disappointed in your behavior!" Mr. Evans began, his words causing Petunia to look down in shame. "Especially your behavior against your sister!"

Petunia hated being a disappointment to her parents and tried everything to make herself worthy of their praise, but no matter what she did, it wasn't ever enough. They just seemed to have more pride in Lily, than they did her, just because she was a witch.

"You're an adult now, and in another month or so Petunia, you'll soon be going to college, and living on your own," Mrs. Evans said, joining her husband. "And yet you persist in badmouthing your sister and calling her terrible names. When are you going to grow up, and give up your petty jealousy, and make up with her?"

"Suppose something happens to us Petunia," Mr. Evans said, catching his eldest daughter's attention. "And keep in mind that we won't always be here anymore, leaving you and Lily as the only family you each have left? Your mother and I won't live forever Petunia, and when our time comes, what will you do then, when the only family you have left, is Lily, and whatever family you manage to build for yourself, along with whatever family Lily builds?"

Petunia tried to think hard about what her father was saying, but she couldn't think of the possibility of a world where her parents weren't in it. Also, try as hard as she might, she also couldn't imagine a world where it would just be her and her sister being the only remaining Evans left in the world. What would she do then?

"Your father and I would like to see you two girls rekindling your relationship with each other Petunia," Mrs. Evans said further, looking at her daughter. "We do not want to leave this world where the two of you are still feuding, and refuse to mend the rift between you."

"Especially since that rift was created by you Petunia," Mr. Evans picked up, his face softening, but still holding his firm tone. "Your mother and I are very much aware of the fact that you are jealous of Lily because she can do magic, but you can't. But Lily was born that, way, she can't help it, and neither can your mother and I, or even you, help it. It's a fact that your mother and I learned to accept, and embraced, and quite frankly, that's the best approach to take it; so can you please, give up your anger and jealousy, accept your sister's gift, and make up with her?"

Petunia thought about what her father said, and wondered if she could give up her jealousy and anger. The truth was, she did love her sister, truly she did, but she was just so angry and jealous that she couldn't share in the world that Lily had been a part of in the past five years thus far. Her anger and jealousy had hardened her heart against her sister so much, that she wasn't sure if she could give it up, and make amends with her sister.

"Let me give you another question to ponder in your mind Petunia," Mrs. Evans said, as her eldest daughter looked at her. "Suppose something happens to Lily, and the result is that she leaves this world. How will you feel, if your sister died, and you never had the chance to make amends with her?"

Petunia stared at her mother in shock, as she couldn't believe the gall of that question before she began to wonder. How would she feel, if she was unable to make amends with Lily, should her sister die? As angry and jealous of her sister as she was, Petunia would never wish for Lily to die, but she did have to admit: if Lily did die, and the rift between them remained before they finally had some chance of making amends, Petunia would've regretted it, for the rest of her life. She would carry that guilt, the regret, of not making amends with Lily, till the day that Petunia's body would be laid in the ground herself.

At that moment, Lily's head poked in the doorframe, her face bearing a look of confusion and shock. Petunia had only ever seen that look on her little sister's face one time in her life: the day they officially met Severus Snape and discovered that Lily was a witch when she was nine years old. Now, for the second time, at the age of sixteen, that confused and shocked face was on Lily's face, as she looked at their father, and Petunia couldn't help but find herself curious as to what was going on at the door.

"Umm... Daddy, can you please come to the sitting room real quick?" She asked, her voice holding a tone of uncertainty in it. "There's a young woman here to see you."

Moments Earlier

Lily walked towards the door in a huff, still reeling from the harshness that she endured from her sister. She had only just been home for at least a week or so from Hogwarts, and every time she mentioned something about her time there, Petunia was always quick to say something demeaning. What had started it this time, was the fact that Lily had talked about how she and her one best friend, a Slytherin girl named Elizabeth Warren in her year, had spent the final Hogsmeade trip of their school year making plans for the summer. Elizabeth was a Pureblood witch that was very kind and friendly, and the way that Lily and she acted with one another, the two girls were as good as sisters; almost similar to how James Potter and Sirius Black were like brothers.

Lily shook her head again, as she didn't want to think about that arrogant, handsome, devilish-looking toe rag...

'Agh, there I go again, what is wrong with me?!' Lily thought to herself as she wrapped her right hand around the doorknob. 'I am not one of James Potter's mindless fangirls! Even if I am starting to see him in a different light, he's still just an arrogant, egotistical toe rag, who I am not falling for!'

Keeping that thought in mind, Lily turned the knob, and opened the door, just to find a young and beautiful woman that looked to be about three years older than Petunia standing on the other side, with quite a curvy figure. She was wearing a fashionable-looking business suit, just without the tie and the first three to four buttons were undone, showing a generous amount of cleavage that Petunia would've argued to be indecent, and a skintight skirt that had a slot on the right side of it, for her slender leg to slide through, and a pair of black heels resting on her feet. She looked to be about five foot seven, and her skin was a mocha-tanned complexion, making Lily wonder if she was Latino in ethnicity, with black hair. Her lips, which were covered with a dark red colored lip gloss, were curved in a kind, but confused smile, as she looked at Lily, taking in her appearance as well. What surprised Lily the most about the young woman, was as she had green eyes that were nearly the same as hers: almond-shaped and emerald green in color.

"Hello, I'm looking for the Evans home, and I was told that this house was it?" She said, her voice having a distinctly American accent, saying the last part as a sort of question.

Lily quickly shook her head, clearing her head as she looked back at the young woman.

"Yes, this is the Evans home," She answered, a kind smile gracing her face, and a laugh leaving her lips. "I mean, it should be since I live here with my family, and my last name is Evans."

The woman at the door laughed with Lily as they laughed at her joke. Regaining their respective composures, Lily and the woman looked into each other's green eyes. Deciding to learn who this woman was, and wanting to know what she was doing here, Lily decided to introduce herself.

"My name is Lily Evans," She said, reaching her right hand out to the woman. "What's yours, and where are you from? I'm guessing America since your voice doesn't have an English drawl to it"

The woman looked at Lily's hand, before accepting it, her small hands possessing a firm grip as she shook Lily's hand. Lily was quick to note that on the ring finger of her left hand, which was clasped around a handbag, was an engagement ring, with a beautiful-looking diamond, surrounded by three other diamonds on either side.

"Selina Kyle and I'm from Gotham City, New Jersey, in the United States," She replied, her smile becoming a bit tentative as she prepared to say the next bit of what she was doing there. "I was hoping if perhaps a Harrison Evans lived here?"

Now Lily looked at Selina confused, as she wondered why this woman wanted to see her father. Harrison was her father's full first name, but as far as she knew, everyone that the Evans knew, even her mother, always called her father Harry; of course, the only times her mother ever called her father by his full name, was when she was upset at him for something. Looking back at Selina, Lily still had her confusion plain on her face.

"Yes, my father happens to be Harrison Evans, but he prefers to go by Harry," She answered, curious as to why this woman wanted to see her father. "He's currently in the dining room with my mother and sister, but I can go get him for you if you like?"

Selina nodded her head, as she gratefully accepted Lily's offer.

"Thank you, I'd like that very much," She replied, staying firm in her spot. "I'll just wait out here and..."

"Oh no, absolutely not, that is most unacceptable," Lily quickly retorted, shaking her head, causing her red hair to fly back and forth. "My mother would be most disappointed in me if I allowed a guest to just stand out in the doorframe. Come on in, and take a seat in the sitting room."

Selina slightly hesitated for a brief moment, before she finally followed Lily into the house. Lily led the American woman to the sitting room and sat her down on the sofa before she began to make her way to the dining room until she stopped. Turning to look at the dark-haired Gothamite, Lily decided to quickly ask a question that was on her mind.

"Just out of curiosity, why do you want to see my father?" She asked, taking careful note of the hesitancy that flashed on Selina's face.

Selina contemplated what she was going to tell the girl. How do you explain to someone who you just met for the first time, that you might be her older half-sister, and that her father could be your birth father as well? Swallowing her concerns and pride, she decided that it was best to give an abbreviated version of the truth.

"I honestly don't know how to explain this," Selina began, looking straight into Lily's green eyes that matched her own. "But I believe that it could be possible, that your father, is my biological father."

Lily's eyes went wide with shock, as those words left Selina's lips. Her mind running on a blank, she turned on her heels, and walked towards the dining room, to get her father. Her mind was reeling from the reveal that Selina had given her, and wondered: was it possible that her father had been unfaithful to her mother? In all of the years that Lily grew up, she had seen the true and absolute love that her father had shown to her mother, but as she grew older, she took note that there were times that she swore that she had seen a look of regret and sadness in her father's eyes.

These few glances from her father, had made Lily wonder, what did her father have to be sad and regretful about? Now Lily had her answer, at some point, her father had a secret affair, and the result had been the woman that was now sitting in her family's sitting room. Although she could hear her parents talking to Petunia, Lily hadn't paid too much attention to what was being said, as she was too focused on what she had learned. Sticking her head through the door, Lily looked at her father with a look of confusion and shock, as she was still thinking about Selina in the sitting room.

"Umm... Daddy, can you please come to the sitting room real quick?" She asked, her voice holding a tone of uncertainty in it. "There's a young woman here to see you."
