Chapter 33

October 17
Morning
Hokage Tower, Konoha
"Remember Kakashi, this mission is crucial to Konoha's wellbeing. An alliance with a nation this technologically advanced will surely make our enemies hesitant."
Said Jonin agreed wholeheartedly but had a slight problem, "Should my team really be deployed for this kind of mission? Especially now that Kumo and Iwa are both interested in our resident blond?"
Hiruzen understood where Kakashi's concerns were coming from, Naruto's outstanding performance in Chunin exams had confirmed certain suspicions and now sightings of hostile shinobi along Fire Country's borders are being reported on a near daily basis.
"Fear not Kakashi, a skilled group of ANBU will be trailing Team 7 and the client until the departure to the Land of Snow." The Hokage assured, "Plus the travel route goes through the Land of Iron and no village will willing to start a fight in that country."
That eased the Jonin's fears a bit, starting a fight in the Land of Iron will surely lead to sanctions being imposed by the guilty party's daimyo and no hidden village would want that.
"Then as Team 7's squad captain I accept this mission request."
"Departure time is two weeks from now, I advise that you begin preparations."
"Noted," Kakashi said as he grabbed the mission scroll and pocketed it in his vest, "There's something else I will like to report on sir."
"Well, what is it then?"
"Hanare is a spy."
Dropping his cigar Hiruzen leaned forward, "Do you have proof?" He questioned.
Kakashi nodded then turned towards the door, "You can come in." He indicated.
The Double doors parted revealing a fair skinned, slender young woman donned in a yellow kimono top and light purple skirt with black shinobi boots. The lady quietly walked forward until she had taken the spot beside the Copy ninja.
"Hokage-sama," Hanare greeted with a curt bow.
"I guess that proves things."

Streets of Konoha
Naruto after having lunch at Ichiraku's wandered the streets of Konoha in search of a certain shop, 'There it is.'
Ding! Ding!
"Ah Naruto!" Tenten exclaimed, "What brings you here?"
"Hey Tenten, I ran out of sealing ink and come to buy some bottles."
"Sealing ink, how many?" She turned round and reached for the Fuinjutsu section.
"Three," Naruto replied then watched as she grabbed three bottles and placed them on the counter, "So how much-"
"So you're also into Fuinjutsu," The bun haired interrupted, eyes lighting up with interest, "What level are you?"
"I'm Level 3."
"Really?" Tenten looked doubtful, "How long have you been studying?"
"A month."
"Impossible," The Weapon mistress cried, "It took me a whole year, excluding the time taken by missions, to reach Level 3 and you're telling me you reached it in a month."
'Well I had help from Shadow Clones, but she doesn't need to know that,' Naruto thought with a grin before addressing the agitated girl, "How about I prove it by deciphering the weapon seal on your palm?"
The 15 year old thought about it then presented her right palm, "Do it!"
Few Minutes Later
"You really are Level 3," Tenten muttered as a Smug looking Naruto paid for his purchase, "Fuinjutsu really does run in the blood of an Uzumaki." She muttered to herself not knowing that her customer still heard it but decided not to dive in.
"Anyway," The blonde began as he sealed away the purchase, "I'm curious on how you got your hands on so many weapons, are they all from this shop?"
The bun haired shook her head negatively, "If I did that Oyaji will go bankrupt."
"Well that's true, so where do you get them?"
"First of all the weapons in my weapon's seals aren't in tip-top shape," She unsealed a kunai and showed it to the Uzumaki, "Take a close look."
Grabbing hold of the weapon Naruto inspected it thoroughly, "It has a couple of bumps and scratches."
"That's a discarded kunai, they along with several other weapons can be founded in various training grounds."
"I see, so you're a scavenger."
"Don't say that as if it's a bad thing." Tenten protested.
"I did some scavenging myself so I can't possibly see it as bad."
"In that case," The Kunoichi relaxed her guard, "You will be surprised at the arsenal I've amassed since I started collecting."
"Judging by the scrolls you have it must be a lot." The blonde pointed out, "How long have you been doing that?"
"Oh, a couple of years." The bun haired replied before reaching out and grabbing the Jinchuriki by the collar, "If I noticed a decline in the number of discarded weapons I'm coming after you." She added menacingly.
"Now now," Naruto freed himself and took a step back, "I'm not planning on stealing your weapons."
"Hmph, I'll take your word then." She let up her glare.
"Well, I have to go." The blonde hastily turned round.
Tenten waved at him, "See ya later."
"Bye." The Uzumaki replied before shutting the door, 'Her obsession with weapons is on another level,' He thought with a sweat drop, "Well, time to head home-"
"Uzumaki-san," Anbu appeared before him.
'There goes that plan,' The blonde sighed before looking up, "How may I help you Anbu-san?"
"Hokage-sama requires your presence immediately."
"Did he say why?"
"No."
"Okay then, I will be there soon," With Naruto's confirmation the agent vanished, "Hey Kurama?"
"What's up?" The Biju replied.
"I'm still having difficult sensing Anbu agents."
"You'll just have to sharpen your senses, those guys are trained in infiltration and stealth after all."
"More training then, but first let's see what Jiji wants."

Ryu Shrine, Arashigakure Minor
"That's a large gate." Anko commented as their carriage pull up in front of a large silver colored gate with the Hexagram symbol inscribed on.
"Yeah." Shizune agreed as two guards of opposing genders halted their vehicle. The guards were dressed in white kimono style shirts with red hakama pants/skirts.
"Identification." The male guard asked for and received a scroll from Areku.
The group watched as the guard glanced through the scroll then nodded to his female companion who then called out to a guard posted on the walls, "Open the gates!"
"Opening!"
As the gate was being opened, the guard handed the scroll back to Areku, "Maintain appropriate behavior or be ready to be kicked out!" He warned.
"Will do." Areku replied as their carriage drove in.
Upon entry the group saw several individuals in the same uniform as the guards moving about, probably preoccupied with their own duties, "Those are the Shrine Attendants," The Jonin explained, "They assist the Priestess in her duties and are responsible for both the security and welfare of the Shrine."
"How many are attendants there?" Kin asked.
"About a hundred." Atsushi answered, his answer catching the two elder kunoichi by surprise.
"That isn't even half of the Fire Temple's population." The Snake mistress pointed out.
"Well I'm sure that's because the Fire Temple has a much richer-mmhm"
Areku quickly placed his palm over the medic's mouth as she was seated beside him, "Now now we wouldn't want to upset the attendants." He remained the group with a tone that basically said, 'Keep quiet.'
Atsushi looked around and noticed that some attendants were now giving them suspicious looks, 'yeah, Oji-chan is definitely right.' He felt Kin draw closer towards him and wondered, 'So the shy act now, not that I really mind.' The Chunin added as the girl hugged his arm against her chest.
Anko watched the interaction between the two groups with a smirk, Shizune blushing from having Areku's fingers over her lips and Kin hugging Atsushi's arm under the pretense of being scared, 'Things are never boring with this group.' She said to herself.

Hokage Office
"Now that everyone is present, you maybe begin Hanare."
"Hai Hokage-sama!" Turning towards the three teenagers, said lady took a deep breath before letting it out, "This may come as a surprise but I'm a spy." She revealed.
"What!"
"No way!"
"From which village?"
Naruto and Hinata stared at Sasuke in shock, "You knew?" They asked in unison.
"When I first saw her I had my suspicions." The Uchiha replied.
"As expected of The Last Uchiha," Kakashi chuckled, "They usually consider strangers enemies until proven otherwise."
"That's not something to be proud of."
"Back to the topic please."
"Ah yes, I'm from the Hidden Lock Village."
"That's in Key Country right?"
"Indeed."
"But why would a Village from the Eastern Subcontinent send a spy here?"
"Information," Hiruzen answered, "Jomae Village specializes in information gathering and Hanare here was tasked with investigating Konoha's affairs, but after spending some time with Kakashi she decided to turn herself in."
The silver haired Jonin looked away as his students gave him knowing look, 'Great, now Naruto will never let it drop.'
Hanare got in front of the three chunin and prostrated herself, "I'm terribly sorry you three," She apologized, "I understand if you can't find it within yourself to forgive me-"
"I forgive you." Naruto cut in.
"Huh!" The lady drew back.
"Same here." Hinata followed.
"I see no reason not to." Sasuke joined in.
"But but-"
"I did say you were being too pessimistic." Kakashi told her while offering a hand, "As long as you didn't hurt anyone, they're rather willing to forgive."
"I see, thank you." Was all she could mange.
"So what now?" Sasuke asked, "Will she be staying with Sensei now that she can't return to her village?"
"Actually Jomae will be asking for my release in a few days time." Hanare surprised three with the reveal.
"They have one of our Jonin captive and will be attempting a prisoner swap." Hiruzne added, "I just received the request an hour ago."
"I see, so their plan was to have Hanare-san collect the information then retrieve her back via prisoner swap." Naruto deduced.
"But they didn't account the possibility of Hanare-san encountering her love interest." Hinata added.
"Can you please not use love interest." Said love interest muttered while female beside him blushed.
"You guys seemed to have connected all the dots," The Hokage said with a smile, "Now all that's left is our counter-attack."
"Counter-attack?"
"You mean…"
"Yep, Team 7 will be performing the swap on our own terms."

Ryu Shrine
Minutes later
The group after going under several torii gates arrived in front of a large Shinto looking Manison. Noting the gestures from the guards Areku brought the carriage to a halt in the courtyard as they had to continue the rest on foot.
"Remember," The Jonin began once everyone had gotten down, "Be of good behavior, getting banned now will mean all that time and energy spent was for nothing."
"Hai."
Satisfied Areku turned around and spotted a female attendant approaching, "She must be our guide."
"Good day travelers," The attendant greeted with a curt bow, "I'm Natsumi and I will be guiding you today."
Areku returned the gesture, "I'm Areku and the ones behind me are-"
"Shizune"
"Anko"
"Atsushi"
"Kin"
Natsumi nodded as she took note of their names, "The priestess is this way please follow." She twirled around and headed into the mansion with the five following.
"Pretty," Kin complimented as she stared at the interior decoration of the hall, "Hey Natsumi-san who's that?" She pointed at a statue up ahead.
"That's Asa, the founder and First priestess of the Ryu Shrine." The female answered after bowing at said statue.
"No last name?" Shizune asked, finding it odd that such an important person wouldn't have a last name.
"It is said that Asa abandoned her last name for safety reasons," Natsumi replied before taking a left turn, "This way please."
'Huh,' The entire group thought because just up ahead, pass the statue was a room filled with people.
"Excuse me, but aren't we heading for the waiting room?"
"That is for those who want to be rid of their cursed seals," Natsumi answered Areku, "I'm leading you to a different one."
"But I also want to be rid of mine." Anko uttered quite audibly.
"Your seal's threat level is higher than theirs, that why I leading you directly to Priestess."
"Threat level?" The Special Jonin muttered.
"So those people won't be meeting the priestess?" Shizune asked.
The attendant nodded in reply, "The priestess only handles transmutation and cursed seals of A-rank and above, the rest are handled by Shrine attendants who are knowledgeable with sealing arts."
Seeing that it coincided with the little tidbit Areku gave them outside, the group quietly followed Natsumi pass several rooms and deeper into the mansion.

Meeting Chambers
"Good day everyone, I'm Asa, Priestess of this fair shrine." A stunning white-haired lady dressed in purple regal robes greeted the five.
'Whoa!' Both Areku and Atsushi thought captivated by the priestess's dazzling appearance and amethyst eyes which seemed to draw them into its depths.
"My my, if you keep staring that hard I'm sure your female companions will be upset."
Blinking in realization the two Kishida males turned to their sides and both Shizune and Kin bore displeased expressions.
'I'm the same as her yet you don't stare at me that way.' Shizune.
'If you want to be attracted to a female older than you I'm right here.' Kin.
'This is gold.' Anko thought as she watched the two try to pacify the females while munching on a stick of dango.
"Hey you!" A buff looking male attendant bellowed at the special Jonin, "Snacks are prohibited within shrine premises."
'Oh shit!' The remaining four thought in alarm.
"Now now, I will allow it just this once." Asa waved it off.
"Yes priestess." The muscleman backed down.
Collective sighs of relief were heard.
"Now onto pressing matters," Asa switched topics.
"Ah yes," Areku stepped forward, "I'm-"
"Areku Inazuma Kishida," The priestess interrupted, "Beside you is Shizune Kato, your nephew Atsushi, then Kin Tsuchi and finally Anko Mitarashi."
The Kishida Jonin wasn't surprised, "I see Yosokage-sama already informed you of our identities." He stated.
"Indeed." Asa confirmed.
"Then he probably revealed who and who need help."
"You are also correct."
"Well then I'll save my breath," The Jonin stepped back then gestured to both Anko and Kin to step forward.
Once the two had done that, Asa grabbing her golden staff from an attendant stepped down from the raised platform and inspected the two, "Mhmm, I sense a great deal of foreign chakra within their chakra network and your's," She pointed at Anko, "is extremely vile."
"Well I've got that bastard to thank for that." The snake mistress scowled.
"The bastard you're talking about is Rogue Sannin, Orochimaru right?" A positive nod came her way, "Your will must be unfaltering to have resisted this long."
"More like hatred." The Special Jonin corrected.
"So can anything to be done?" Kin spoke up.
Asa stared at her then smiled, "Of course sweetie, your transmutation and Mitarashi-san purification will be handled by yours truly."
"Thank goodness." Shizune said in relief.
"But there are some side effects." Asa warned.
"Side effects?"
"Yes, for Kin she will be unconscious for about 2 - 3 days."
"3 days," Said girl repeated before thinking it over, "That doesn't sound bad."
"That's not all," Asa continued, "for some couple of months your chakra will be acting up."
"Acting up? You mean she won't be able to utilize it?" Shizune the most medically knowledgeable of those present asked.
"No, I'm mean for the first 2 weeks she may unintentionally under or overpower a jutsu so it's advised to not to take on missions no matter how minor."
"Got it." Areku noted.
"And lastly for a period of 6 months avoid being injected with any foreign chakra not of Kishida origin."
This confused not just Kin both also Shizune and Anko, "Can you explain a bit more?" The former asked.
"You know the Hyuga's Gentle Fist right?" Atsushi gave an example, "She means avoiding those kinds of techniques that depend on chakra being inserted into one's coils."
The priestess nodded in agreement, "Failure to do so may result in your chakra network being damaged beyond repair."
"Yikes."
"So that why the brown brat forfeited against that Hyuga stuck-up." Anko realized.
"But 6 months is a long time." Shizune pointed out, "Kin-chan may even forget."
"We will remind her then," Areku assured, "Plus no techniques like the Gentle Fist exist in Arashigakure or the Land of Elements so Kin will be fine."
"Konoha then?"
"As long as she doesn't piss off a Hyuga then we have nothing to worry about." The Kishida laughed nervously.
Kin promised herself to avoid all Hyuga like a plague for the next 6 months.
"Now Kin-chan if you will follow me to the transmutation room," Asa began leading Kin to a door on the left, Atsushi moved to follow but was stopped by an attendant.
"Only the patient may accompany the priestess."
"What!"
"It's a sacred ritual Atsushi, one which is done behind closed doors." Areku explained, "Even Kin won't remember what happened to her during the ritual."
"Really?" Kin looked alarmed.
"Fear not, it's neither bad nor harmful." Asa affirmed with a warm smile as the two went into the room.
"I will escort you back to the waiting room, the ritual should be done within an hour." Natusmi addressed the four.
"A-ah please do."
"This way please."
As the maiden led them out, Atsushi glanced at the door before following.

Transmutation Chamber
The moment Kin and Asa stepped inside, several torches planted on the walls blazed to life illuminating the room in a warm light.
"Greetings!"
The younger female jumped in surprise, "Who are they?" She pointed to the individuals clad in purple concealing robes.
"They're here to assist me with the ritual," Asa answered while acknowledging the presence of said individuals.
"Okay." Kin replied, eyes drawn to a structure located at the middle of the rather spacious room, "A bath?"
"That is also a part of the ritual," The white-haired beauty answered the question before placing a hand on the girl's left shoulder, "Now come along." She added, pushing the youngster towards the centre of the room.
The robed individuals gave way except one who approached them with a bowl of-
"Marbles?" Kin said confusedly.
"Not marbles my dear, those are seeds." Asa corrected.
"Seeds?" Kin grabbed one and examined in it closely, "Definitely not the normal ones."
"These are specially made and can't be found anywhere else."
"Hmm, so I'm supposed to eat it?"
"Yes."
Placing it into her mouth, Kin chewed a bit then swallowed, "Tastes bland." She commented before suddenly collapsing to the ground, "Huh?"
Seeing that the seed had taken root, two of the robed individuals grabbed Kin and took her into the circular bath.
"Make sure her head is above water!" The priestess ordered.
"Hai!"
'Hey! What's going on?' Kin tried to say but her lips wouldn't move, 'Am I paralyzed?' She willed her body to respond but nothing, 'You got to be kidding me!' The teen bemoaned as the two figures retreated after carrying out their superior's order.
"Everyone in positions," Asa ordered and the rest immediately fell in formation creating a hexagon with Kin at the centre, "BEGIN!" The priestess yelled as her staff slammed against the ground.
Hands firmly clasped against their chests, the five began chanting in some strange language and after a while they were enveloped by a white aura.
'Everything is proceeding smoothly.' Asa noted before joining in, her own aura manifesting near instantly.
Bubble! Bubble! Bubble!
The bath water began bubbling and Kin felt herself sinking in, being engulfed by those very bubbles.
'Here I go.' The Kunoichi thought before consciousness left her.

Waiting Room
"Cheer up brat!"
"AH!" The Kishida jumped up from his seat before relaxing, "Don't sneak up on me like that!" He yelled at Anko.
"Sneak up? I was beside you the whole time." The Special Jonin pointed out.
The Chunin was surprised, "Really?"
"Really."
"I'm sorry." Atsushi apologized.
"No need for apologies," The trench coat wearer dismissed before staring at the teen, "So why the worried look? Kin's pretty tough ya know."
"I do, but I can help but worry."
Anko hummed, "What about a game to please time?"
"Those it involves snakes?" Atsushi deadpanned.
The purple-haired Kunoichi feinted shock, "How do you guess?"
"Your eye gleamed at the mention of 'a game'."
"Tsk… I better work on that."

Buuuuzzzzzz!
"Wow!" Shizune gasped.
"See! It's the same basis as your chakra scalpel, just usage of Lightning chakra instead of pure chakra." Areku explained to the excited lady.
Several ideas came to the medic as she stared at her electrified hand, "Just imagine the long range slashes I can pull off once I successfully incorporate this with my chakra scalpel."
The Jonin chuckled at her jigginess, "Well you will have to wait until we're back home, outsiders aren't allowed to use jutsu within the shrine premises."
"Oh well," Shizune sighed, deactivating the jutsu before turning to Areku, "Still I can't imagine you overlooked this when trying to create your even own jutsu." She stated.
"It's a supplementary jutsu and I was trying to create an offensive jutsu at the time so I subconsciously overlooked it, but Atsushi while going through some of my discarded notes ended up making use of it and that's when I finally realized how useful it was." He reminisced a bit.
Shizune watched him with smile before asking, "That offensive jutsu, did you later succeed?"
"I did," The Kishida replied, "It's called the Raidenka!"
"Lightning Charge?" The Kunoichi repeated with a head tilt, "Is it similar to Kakashi's Lightning Blade?"
"No, Kakashi's version pierces while mine slashes."
"I see," Shizune noted, "But how do you deal with the tunnel vision?"
"Oh that," Areku mused, "Do you know the Third Raikage?"
"Isn't he the one who fought against 10,000 shinobi but died in the end?"
"That's him," The Jonin confirmed, "His Hell Stab is quite similar to the Lightning Blade except that it makes a bigger mess of the targets." Shizune flinched at the mental picture, "Anyway he resolved the issue of tunnel vision by enveloping himself in a cloak of lightning which he later called Lightning Style: Body Strike Armor."
"I've heard of that jutsu," The Medic recalled, "It grants the user's a massive increase in speed, reaction rate, resistance and attack power. Current Raikage, Ay, is perhaps the only user of the technique," She slowed down then stared at the Kishida in shock, "Don't tell me-"
"No no," Areku interrupted, "What I use is a far cry of the Raikage's as it only envelops the limbs."
"Still it's impressive that you managed to replicate some parts of it."
"Umm… Thanks."
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Atsushi looked up, "That's the signal."
"Finally my turn!" Anko cheered, leaping up to her feet, "Come on, come on there's no time to waste." She grabbed the teenager by the arm and raced off.
"Huh! Wait! Hey! Don't take me alonggggg!" Atsushi's voice trailed off as he dragged away by the enthusiastic young lady.
Areku sighed while Shizune chuckled at the sight, "She may be Jonin level but at times she reminds me of a little girl in a candy store."
"Her mental age fluctuates too much for my liking."
"Oh, is that so." The medic said with a smile.
"… What's with that reaction?"
"Nothing, nothing at all."
Areku watched her leave with a blank expression before following.

Meeting Chamber
"Kin's transmutation is a success."
The four were relieved at the news, "May I see her?" Atsushi asked, Asa nodded then signaled to Natsumi to escort him.
"I wish you luck Anko!"
"I don't need it but thanks anyway."
"Now Anko please step toward."
The female eagerly did as requested and a stone pedestal rose up right in front of her with a grey colored orb resting ontop.
"Now if the report is correct," The white-haired beauty begin, "The cursed seal activates itself when the host experiences a burst of negative emotions or when close to chakra exhaustion right?"
"You are correct." Anko answered.
"We shall attempt to draw out that cursed power using the second method," Asa pointed at the orb with her staff, "This jewel sucks up the chakra of who comes in contact with it, in other for me to be able to extract that cursed power I need you to endure the pain until the curse seal activates." She took a breath then stared at the purple haired, "Can you do that?"
Anko grinned, "Endurance contests are my specialty so it is on." She placed her dominant hand on the orb and immediately felt her chakra being drained, "Hey! This aren't nothing-"
Ping!
"Huh?"
THUD!
"Anko!"
"Wait!" Areku held back Shizune before facing the now kneeing Snake mistress, "Are you okay?"
"Heck no! This bastard just drained a third of my chakra in an instant!" The female replied before gritting her teeth in pain as more chakra left her, "I'm down to half!"
"What is that orb?" Shizune muttered.
"Probably a village secret," Areku answered as Anko's skin tone became paler by the second, "No wonder Asa asked her to endure, this can probably kill the average shinobi."
The medic freed herself from the Jonin's grasp, her expression now a bit calmer than before, "Well Anko isn't your average Shinobi." She assured.
'You guys,' Said person thought before another throb of pain wrecked her body, "Blasted seal activate already!"
As if obeying her command, the seal flared to life releasing its purple chakra.
"There it is!"
Asa stretched out her hand, "Shade Style: Inhaling Maw!"
'Nani!'
Whips of purplish smoke rose up from Anko's kneeling figure and were sucked into the diamond mark of the priestess's palm. Said priestess bore a calm gaze as she performed the procedure, making sure that the vile chakra was duly extracted.
The remaining persons including Anko could do nothing but stare in awe as the life-long burden was finally lifted.
"It's done!" Asa said as she clenched her fist before opening revealing a purple marble the size of a grape, "Orochimaru's filth is no longer upon you."
THUD!
Shizune immediately rushed to the unconscious lady's side and checked her condition, "The seal is gone!"
"Really?"
"Yes, she's just experiencing a bit of chakra exhaustion."
"Is there a place where she can be treated?" Areku asked Asa, the priestess glanced to her left.
"You two, escort them to the medical bay." Two Shrine maidens bowed then began leading Shizune and Anko out.
Areku moved to follow but was stopped by the buff looking male that admonished Anko earlier, "Am I still needed?"
Said priestess nodded then gestured to the purple marble still in her palm, "We need your help beating this."
The Kishida blinked in confusion, "I don't follow."
Asa didn't reply instead she tossed the marble at a secluded corner, the ball bounced around a bit then broke into two releasing purplish smoke which condensed into-
"Orochimaru!"
"Fufufu, I never imagined my seal being erased in such a manner," The Sannin licked his lip as if he had spotted a delicacy, "You have an interesting ability my dear."
Asa pointed her staff at the uninvited guest, "Fragment of the Rogue Sannin, your end is near!"
"Ohh," The Fragment raised a brow, "How are you going to going to accomplish that?"
The sounds of several weapons being drawn replied him, the fragment glanced around counting the number of opponents.
"My my, aren't you guys underestimating me a little."
"What do you mean?"
"A measly 10 isn't enough to beat me."
"If you were the original I will request more men, but against a fake? 10 is more than enough." Asa retorted, her face gaining a small smirk as the opponent hissed in anger.
"You will regret that!"
"Make me!"
