She had been back in the West for five days, and for the most part, they did not speak to one another, yet he stayed close by. Where she walked, he walked. When she slept, he stood nearby; when she bathed, he waited. If he had to go somewhere, she followed. For now, just being near one another seemed to be working well enough.
Now, she sat in a large room filled with books. The large window had a built-in sitting area. She sat on the velvet seat, her chin in her hand. Though Tula was here with her, she was bored. Tula still had her own life, mate, and pregnancy to deal with.
Kagome sighed, watching the daylight fade. Sesshomaru sat at a desk with papers all over; ever so often, she would hear the papers move.
Then suddenly, sickness hit her. She sat up, trying to control it, but it was no use. Kagome jumped up and bolted from the room. Sesshomaru glanced up as she did so. He stood and slowly made his way out to follow her.
Tula met him halfway and bowed. "I will check on her,"
He bowed his head and allowed her this. Tula rushed out to the garden. "Kagome," Covering her nose, Tula could smell the sickness. "Are you ok?"
It would seem her morning sickness decided to hit at night, great.
"Im fine," Her heart raced with the sudden illness.
"Should I send him?"
"No!" Gods, she did not want him near her right now. "It's just normal sickness," She started to shake, and tears started to form; this was real.
"Kagome?" Tula spoke softly,
"I'm fine," She whispered, but she wasn't fine. She was alone and scared and sad. Her baby could still die, she could still die, and if they managed to survive, they would only have each other; she suddenly felt so sad for Inuyasha and really wished she could be close to him.
Tears fell, and Tula came forward. "Oh, Kagome,"
Suddenly, Kagome was hit with anger and heat. She tugged at her ties and removed the outer kimono, tossing it. It was too hot and too formal and heavy. She wasn't a princess or a hime, she was Kagome.
She wasn't in love with her one-time lover.
She wanted her mother. She cried out, and her blue-haired friend backed up; she didn't know what to do, so she turned and went back to Sesshomaru. He looked down at the woman. "I, I don't know what to do?"
The human girl's emotions were all over the place. Sesshomaru walked by her and up to Kagome. She looked up, and he could see the heat in her eyes and on her face. He knelt close and touched her cheek with the back of his hand; her response was to smack it away.
"You are feverish,"
She was panting. "I am not using my power,"
"It could be the jewels doing," A reaction to her condition. Perhaps it was trying to heal her.
"I, I can control the jewel," She panted,
"It would be well if you were Miko, you are not," Hence, a big part of their problem. But she was hardly pregnant; it was only going to get worse.
Kagome felt faint, and he could see it. He picked her up, and she was too tired, too sad, too sick to fight him off. "I can walk,"
He ignored her, took her to her room, and laid her on her bed. She curled up. "It's too hot,"
"I will send for Tula,"
"No, leave her be, Sesshomaru,"
He raised an eyebrow. Did this woman think to order him around?"
"She is with child too,"
He didnt need a reminder; it should have been her carrying this child. He walked back to the door and ordered fans. Two demonesses came running in and stood on the other side of the bed, and began to fan her.
It felt good, and Kagome calmed. Sesshomaru stood closer than he normally would. He debated watching her lay there and fall asleep. He should call for his mother; she had dealt with Inuyasha's mother, and perhaps she could aid him.
But that would mean having to tell her. She was going to eat him up and spit him out without lifting a finger, and giving her that power did not sit well with him, but she was going to find out at some point.
Better late than never did not fit when it came to his mother.
It was decided. "Jaken," He called,
He entered, he was never far off.
"Send for my mother,"
