I plan on updating at least once a week how do you guys like the story so far ?
My face grew white realizing why he was smirking and how close our bodies were and my squirming…
I lifted my leg up trying to buck him off I was unsuccessful in all of my attempts; I only seemed to get the man to laugh at me, which made me turn red.
"You have quite the fighting spirit my lady "he said not at all breathless as I was.
He moved to adjust himself more comfortably no longer straddling me quite so intimately , now's my chance! I stilled my muscles making him think I wouldn't fight him anymore as he relaxed his hold slightly I raised my leg close to my body and kneed him hard in the crotch. he immediately released my his hold and doubled over in a groan. I squirmed off the ground scrambling to my feet and gently touched his back before running to the rest of the fight where my friends were.
"I'm sorry I hurt you "I said quietly to the man hunched over immobilized in the pain I caused him. My heart tinged in guilt as I ran to the others. Most of the guards were taken care of, the three men seemed to juggle them between themselves getting in blows then passing them to the other.
"You did not kill me you will not kill him!" Gandalf bellowed all of the fighting seemed to cease all were watching anxiously what was to happen to the king.
"Rohan is mine" Théoden's body lunged forward then was thrown back by a burst of light from Gandalf's staff.
The room was completely silent save for everyone's labored breathing. I young woman sprang forward and ran to the king embracing him
"I know your face" he whispered, his voice no longer sounded sickly "Éowyn"
"Breathe in the fresh air my friend" Gandalf said the king looked awestruck
"Gandalf?" he said quietly almost as a child would question their parents.
Gandalf shifted and I could see the king now more clearly he looked nothing like before. Years have been erased from his face. He stood up the drapery on the windows fluttering to the ground letting in the bright outdoor light into the hall, shining on the renewed king.
"Dark have my dreams been of late, but I feel as one new awakened"
The men around me seemed to stand taller, their eyes no longer held distrust and anger. Instead their eyes held relief and overwhelming hope. Hama stepped forward offering his lord a sword. It shined in the light from the windows, dazzlingly. It was wider than Aragorn's. He held it as if he had been born holding it.
I glanced around me Legolas stood not for to my right his eyes already looking at me. Was he staring at me? Or did we both just happen to glance at each other at the same time. He must think I'm weak. I looked around the room looking for the guard I hurt. Quickly deciding otherwise and looked down at the ground.
The next thing I knew the king and everyone was chasing Gríma the traitor out of the halls. It was hard to keep up pace, I was feeling very claustrophobic squished between guards the wooden doors creaked open but not as easily as they did before, they held a resistance this time. It was strange being so close to people who we had just fought. Is this what it's like to be a man? To fight your differences then move on easily no guilt any shame?
"Your leech craft would have had me crawling on all fours like a beast!" the king spat at the now crumbled Wormwood.
"No my lord please I have only ever served you" he cowered on his hands and knees I finally wiggled my way through the crowd of guards and out onto the porch and steps of the golden hall. I looked away from the scene in front of me, nauseated. The sword the king held flashed catching the light elegantly as he raised it up. I squeezed my eyes shut no no no no I can't watch an execution. I'm going to be sick.
Aragorn bound forward touching the king's arm "My Lord let him go. Enough blood has been spilled on his account." He said softly
A crowd had gathered around them not just guards, now common folk all observing their king who they probably haven't seen in ages. There was a thick silence in the air as we all waited for what the king would decide
"Be gone from my sight "the king said with disgust. Gríma bolted shoving men and women aside to run. His arms flailed, he seemed to trip and tumble as a fawn using their legs for the first time. I looked behind me looking for my fellow companions and noticed the doors to the hall and frowned.
They were now covered in thick green vines with white flowers the scent was sweet and pleasant
Were they like that before and I hadn't noticed? No they weren't. I remember the thick strong wooden doors. Maybe Gandalf's magic did this.
"Hail king Théoden" someone shouted
"Where is my son? Where is Théodred?" the king asked his voice full of longing
A silence fell over the crowd their eyes no longer held relief and hope, it was grief. No. This is too much pain.
"My lord" Hama said with his head down walking forward "he is passed"
"How long?" the king spoke no longer holding the power he had when he banished Gríma, now stood a hollow man.
"My lord… he.. Died this morning"
Théoden eyed the ground as if drawing strength from it. He turned around pained and strode back up the steps into the hall. I looked for Gandalf not knowing what to do, I saw him and he nodded. I turned around to follow the king lifting my leg something tugged on my leggings I looked down and noticed it was one of the vines that grew on the door it had snaked its way to me and wrapped up my leg. I sighed annoyed and embarrassed how does this always happen? Nobody else seemed to get stuck even Gimli! I bent down and began unraveling the vines from my leg that seemed to wrap back around as soon as I'd get loose. A hand rested on my shoulder and I looked up gasping seeing the man who I had injured earlier my face felt hot with embarrassment. Does he want revenge? The men earlier seemed to all disregarded the earlier fighting regarding my companions as almost brothers. One ever clasped his hands on Aragorn's back, the same one he fought the most with.
"Allow me to assist my lady" he said bending down slowly uncoiling the vines that had wrapped around my legs. I seemed frozen in time unable to move or speak or even think.
"There" he said allowing me to breathe out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. He had untangled me from the vines and now stood holding out his hand which I reluctantly took. My face was scarlet thinking about how close we were earlier in the day and just now him touching my leg. I shook my head to dismiss the thoughts. "I am Rhun "he said as he helped me to my feet. Is this how we make amends? Has he forgiven me for hurting him?
