Story Start!
"Man... I'm kind of stupid..."
10, not 8, and while it did have a very octopus-like body, the kraken was more related to a squid than an octopus, though the internal organs were still in the same general spots. The fact that the kraken lost most of it's color when killed should have clued him in right away.
Still, Naruto kept the giant floating corpse as he was well within sight of a village on and next to the water.
There were MANY boats that were heading towards his location, each boat was no bigger than a canoe in size, and it was only about half a canoe, with the back end being closer to a surf board than a boat. It was obviously because the beings who were riding the boats were not human, though they were exceedingly human-like in appearance.
Mermaids.
Mostly male, with a few females, were quickly approaching him as they used their tails to move quickly through the water.
"Hello-"
"I AM NARUTO! I hail from another world, and I have ended up in your ocean! This kraken has attacked me, and payed for it with it's life! I am the Ocean Lord, who has conquered this mighty beast and frightened away it's family!" Naruto introduced himself loudly and proudly to the mermaids that approached his kill, and Naruto could plainly see that a great many of the mermaids were still in dumbfounded awe at seeing a kraken corpse at all.
He could tell they wouldn't believe him at all if it weren't for a few facts.
They were mermaids.
Naruto was a political major, and the fact was land was the most common reason war was fought, and since this kraken had been killed near their fishing grounds no doubt, these mermaids knew about it's existence. The fact it had still been alive, meant that they just never had a method to kill the creature at all. It was a 50+ meter titan of a creature with human-like intelligence after all.
Naruto looked at the mermaid village.
He would guess about 1,000+ mermaids lived in the village overall purely from the size of the village, and the size of the fishing grounds where he killed the kraken at. They had boats as well, large enough boats to fit a full crew of people on it.
They could not breath underwater.
Them having boats confirmed that for him, they had no gills and no way to breath underwater.
"... You... killed the kraken that had invaded our..." A large, well built and super muscular man with tanned colored skin, naturally tan for a sea-living folk. Naruto would say that they had european-style features overall though, or maybe it was closer to a latin style bone structure overall in appearance. They were certainly not this world's version of Asian-style humanoids for certain. The texture and overall look of his hair, and the color of his eyes as well as shape of them, and facial bone structure really gave off that Latin-European vibe.
The man, possibly the chief even considering how he had been the one to greet him.
The man looked at Naruto.
He looked at Naruto's raft as well, and the supplied that Naruto had on it, including the water bottles, the gym bag, and the stuff that weren't quite normal to this world.
"... an otherworlder... you... you really are an otherworlder then."
He believed that part first!?
"I am Naruto, who has conquered your ocean and frightened away an entire squid squad of kraken away from your waters! I am the Ocean Lord, he who has fought and defeated one of the ocean's strongest creatures... nice to meet you!" Naruto jumped off of the kraken and stood on the tip of his boat, staring down at him from a standing position as he extended a hand to the man.
"The name is Ojisan, I am the chief of this, the Fuma clan." The man took Naruto's hand and shook it.
Welp, time for a power move.
The fact that he was in college would help him, since he did have knowledge that could be of use, but Naruto knew eventually human-like gratitude would fade. They would be thankful to him, but unless he established himself as powerful and willing to negotiate from the start he would either strike fear in their hearts, or make them come to resent him once the gratitude faded away.
"I have decided, that I will negotiate with your village! I will share my knowledge from my world with you, my strength, my wisdom, and my future children! Let us begin negotiations my good sir!" Naruto wanted a good deal.
Time to use the shock and awe.
Ojisan just grinned.
"Very well! Having an otherworlder in our village would be worth 100 times your weight in gold, and seeing as you killed the kraken starving the village, I will hear out your demands!" Ojisan was just as loud and proud as he himself was.
He was pragmatic.
He was not in shock or awe, and as loud and proud as he was, Naruto could see that the second negotiations were brought up he flipped a switch. He instantly analyzed how valuable he could be, and decided that there was much to gain from negotiating.
Naruto lifted his arm up.
1 finger.
"My first demand is a home to call my own!"
"Done, you will have a home of your own build by the time the next full moon rises!" Ojisan instantly granted that request, no need to even think about it. It was easy to grant, and it would be a requirement anyway for Naruto to stay in their village at all.
Naruto grinned and lifted his second finger.
"My second demand is to have my title as Ocean Lord accepted, and be granted status equal to a war general!" Naruto made a second demand.
It was an odd one to any person who didn't have a good political head on their shoulders, and it would just so happen that Ojisan had that type of head. He actually had to think about it.
"Granted, anything else."
"My Third Request is to have a feast in my honor, a great feast! I have not gotten a good meal in 11 days!"
"Impossible to grant at this time, but do go ahead with another request!" Ojisan shouted with a grin as he turned down that request. "... Our food isn't exactly plentiful right now, since we lack the ability to hunt on land... and the kraken... well..."
He was very pragmantic it would seem.
"... My last request... a wife."
"A wife?"
"If I'm to be accepted into your village, I should marry a member of your species! I'm not going to settle for just any wife though. I want to marry an unsullied, beautiful member of your clan... and only on the condition that she volunteer herself! I will not accept an unwilling wife!" Naruto made his final demand.
The fastest way to be truly accepted as one of their own, was to marry one of their own. If he got himself a mermaid wife, then that would cause him to be accepted that much more quickly. He didn't want an ugly wife though, so he made the condition that she be unsullied and beautiful. Unsullied was important, because he didn't want them to just throw a whore at him and disrespect him like that. He also didn't want to be seen as some whore's way to escape a hard life either.
"Hmmmmm... uh..." Ojisan actually stumbled on that one.
He didn't know if he could grant that one.
"Of course, I accept you can't grant me a feast... but is a good, beautiful wife too much to ask... maybe I should travel to another mermaid village..." Naruto put some pressure on with that statement alone.
Competition.
'He's good at politics, I'll give him that... all of these requests of his, they ensure he will actually be accepted as one of our own. To live with us, eat with us, have status among us, and to be married to one of us... all of his requests are designed to give him a nice life, but also ease tension and prevent the regular merfolk from being scared of him.' Ojisan knew that other villages and countries of their people would be able to fulfill all of his requests and more.
They both went silent.
They were grinning at each other.
"... I grant you permission to marry my daughter! Not only is she an virgin, but my daughter is both beautiful and intelligent, my daughter may be even more intelligent than I am!"
You will be accepted a lot faster if you become my son, my daughter is smart enough to see how much value you have.
"Very well! I will marry your daughter, and may the wisdom of my world become one with your village!" Naruto heard what the man really said when he spoke. He also made the only right choice where Naruto could respect him as a fellow leader-figure.
One had to be willing to make a sacrifice, before they asked for others to sacrifice.
They shook hands.
Ojisan wiggled his pinky.
"... When you're done with the wedding ceremony with my daughter... be sure to tell me all the dirty details. Let me tell you, my wife was super soft on the inside... I bet my daughter will feel just like her... you are sure to enjoy yourself."
"Uh... There... is a phrase in my world called Too Much Information... and that... fine... we can talk about me having sex with your daughter over drinks." Naruto palmed his face and sat down at the tip of the boat. "... just curious, are mermaids the only other humanoid species out there nearby?" Naruto was just curious.
"Well, there are Harpies, harpies are delicious but near-impossible to catch... the nearest Arachne live about a month away... and there is, I believe the Midori goblin clan who live in the forest to the north, near the sea." Ojisan explained just a few of the species that were somewhat nearby.
Goblins?
Like the evil monsters in RPG games?
"Goblins?"
"Goblins are small... they are kind of weird. They look like smaller, green skinned humans for the most part... but they have this thing where the males of their species can actually get females of other species pregnant with their species... typically with cross-species breeding, the child will share the mother's species... but Goblins and Orcs are among the few exceptions... but overall, I would say they are harmless if you don't attack them. They won't go out of their way to attack you if you don't attack them." Ojisan raised an eyebrow.
Naruto hummed curiously.
Okay, so they weren't the "male only" species like they were thought in the RPGs in his world, and they weren't evil from a glance either.
"... I'll think about it later... actually... once I marry your daughter, I guess that would make me your son... so... Dad..."
"... Damn that feels good." Ojisan was VERY glad to here that. It just satisfied him on a deep level to have a masculine voice address him like that. He actually paused and took that in with a deep breath. "My wife died before we could have a son, so it is just me and my daughter..." Ojisan wrapped an arm around Naruto. "... Son... welcome to the family you beautiful otherworlder." Ojisan was proud to say those words.
He was gaining a son, an otherworlder son.
"... Otherworlder... so..." Naruto wondered for a moment on that.
It had been about 11 days since he arrived in this new world, but the fact was that he was not the first to arrive. It left him with a lot of questions.
His bag and the chair he was sitting on teleported.
'... Meaning... it is possible that those two guys who I was talking with, and maybe a couple of people who were in that room with us... it is possible all of them were teleported as well.' Naruto didn't know those people very well.
Situation 1: Only Naruto was teleported, but that seemed unlikely due to the fact random items came with him.
Situation 2: Everyone in that Room teleported, but he was the only survivor, likely but not the ideal situation.
Situation 3: Everyone teleported, and Naruto was the only person who was teleported in a shitty location, meaning pretty much everyone survived.
He hoped for Situation 1, but he hoped if the others joined him, it was a Situation 3.
