So instead of making the other fic Tim/Danny/Kon I ended up starting a new one that will end up that way.

Chapter 1

Tim laughed and tossed some popcorn at Conner who let it hit him in the face. He grinned back at Tim who turned his attention back to the tv, relaxing back in the couch, his legs flung over Conner's. It was comfortable. And a way of reminding himself he had his best friend back, sometimes it still didn't feel real, it was a miracle and he shouldn't want more.

Conner's tiny Metropolis apartment was very different to Tim's own, but he didn't care at all. He only lived in such a big place because he had a role to play as Tim Wayne. He didn't need such a big place for himself, even when he had friends over it still felt half empty. The privacy was good though and the hidden elevator to his Nest made life easier than if his base was somewhere else. Renovating the old theatre had ensured he had everything he could need as a CEO and vigilante, even if he had stepped back from the position to simply head the R&D department while also running Neon Knights.

It wasn't often they had time to just lie around and watch silly movies, not anymore. Between his work and Conner's studies time could be hard to find. The same went for meeting up with his other friends.

"Hey, no deep thoughts allowed," Conner grumbled, and then Tim shrieked as he was tickled. Conner knew every spot to get a reaction, so unfair.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Bruce looked up as the room filled, nodding to his son, offering a small smile, and Tim nodded back tiredly as he slid smoothly into his seat. The last few nights of patrol had been brutal and they were all feeling it. Crime waves were never fun and with Cass in Hong Kon and Dick off with his old Titans team, they were feeling the pressure. He knew Tim's well-tailored suit was hiding a mass of bruises from where he'd been pushed from the rafters in the warehouse last night. Thankfully, he hadn't broken anything, mostly because he'd landed on a clothing shipment. It had collapsed under him, breaking his fall, and leaving him bruised where more solid containers would have broken bones.

And tonight was looking to be even worse, they still hadn't caught the Penguin and Jason was out with a bullet to the thigh. Of course, first they had to get through the utter boredom that was a shareholders meeting. Tim had given him back some of his shares, but Bruce had insisted he keep enough to remain majority holder. Tim took less high-risk mission and was younger, it made sense. His will had been re-written since Tim had basically received his inheritance already, splitting what Bruce now had between the children, although some sentimental items would go to Tim. Hopefully by then, Damian would be more accepting of his siblings since he would not inherit everything.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Tim sighed as he shoved his cowl back, sitting on his chair to check his injuries. He was grateful to have escaped heading back to the Cave. Things were better with Damian because they rarely interacted and he'd like to keep it that way. He blinked and suddenly there was a plate of healthy sandwiches and a glass of water in front of him, the coolness of an ice pack pressed to the worst of his bruises, and even some bandages over his scattered scrapes. He grinned as he checked, yep, Bart. He had the best friends. Who else would take the time out to duck in and make sure he was taking care of himself?

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Cassie chased down the man but he kept getting away and it was beyond frustrating. He wasn't even all that strong magically but he was very good at slipping away. And she didn't like what she'd overheard him muttering about when looking at the display. She was going to have to contact Diana. And maybe…this was the chance to get the old team together. No way he could evade the four of them, right?

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Kon checked the last artifact in the display and sighed as it was a negative as well. Not that they had an exact image for The Staff of the Oneiroi or anything but they were assuming it was at least staff shaped and Greek, which at least narrowed the search a little. He tapped his comm and heard Bart report he hadn't found it in DC.

"Superboy, negative result as well," he reported, practically able to see the look of annoyance on Tim's face even as he heard him typing away in his Nest.

This kind of mission, it was faster to have Tim running logistics from a single location while the three of them spread out to do the actually search. Good thing Tim didn't mind that kind of work but it seemed unfair to Kon. And yet Tim never seemed to be upset to be the only baseline human on the team, when they had been a team. These days they weren't even Titans together. He'd been so glad when Cassie called them in on this one, they didn't get to work together anymore, the closest they'd had to that was when Tim had called them to Gotham to help save people from the League if Assassins last year.

What little they knew of the staff said it was bad news, they were waiting on more information from Diana, and some two-bit wizard was after it. So the three of them were running all over the US, searching every museum and gallery that Tim told them too, he'd already searched the Gotham museum and come up empty. It was frustratingly little to go on, but they'd had less and saved the day in the past. Of course, knowing their luck, the stupid thing was back home in Greece or somewhere in the middle of nowhere Russia.

"Impulse, you've got Portland next, two museums and a gallery. Superboy, you're in Denver, one museum and three galleries. Wonder Girl, you've got Miami, one museum and one gallery," Tim told them, sending the co-ordinates.

"On it," he answered, leaving the building to take to the air.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Tim sipped at a cup of juice as he watched his screens, he'd prefer coffee but Leslie had really been watching his intake lately. Stupid assassins, stupid spleen. It was even freshly made so no added sugar. He had several programs running, searching for anything that could be The Staff of the Oneiroi and others to try and find their magical bad guy before he could find the staff.

He'd put in calls to Justice League Dark to see if they knew anything about either, but he hadn't heard back yet. That wasn't out of the ordinary, who knew where they were, often they were off realm and stuff. He knew Cassie had called Diana right from the start about it, looking for more intel, but she was on a mission so who knew when she'd be able to call back or if she knew anything about it.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Bart dashed from place to place, having to slow down and study the various artifacts, not daring to risk a mistake. They didn't know what it could do, but it'd probably be bad! It usually was, which was annoying. He'd been wanting a nice, fun, mission with his friends, not one where they had to split up! Every time he found something that looked like a Greek staff, he sent a pic to Tim to check. No sign of the creepy magic guy yet though.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Tim nearly jumped when the computer beeped, bringing the screen to the front, scanning the information before clicking his comm on. "I've got a sighting in Philadelphia, near the Philadelphia Museum of Art…id confirmed, it's him. Impulse, Superboy, one of you pick me up and we'll meet there." Cassie was already on the correct coast so it'd be easier for one of them to grab him on the way through.

Sure enough, Kon was soon headed to Gotham, Bart held up by having to take a detour due to a massive accident on a bridge. So, Tim grabbed anything extra he thought might come in handy and headed for the exit to save time. Seconds later, he was airborne, held securely by Kon. He relaxed, knowing Kon would never drop him, even as he mentally began planning.

Soon he was being set on his feet outside of the museum and they split up to enter from different areas. Not long after Cassie and then Bart arrived and the four entered the museum. And not long after…their comms failed. Tim grimaced but that suggested they were in the right place, the magician they were tracking was not powerful enough to short them out.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Kon made his way carefully through the building, floating to avoid footsteps giving him away. Thankfully, Tim had handled the alarms since the last thing they needed was the police showing up and getting in the way. He really didn't like how quiet it was, he should be able to hear the others, even with comms down, but all he could hear was his own heartbeat and breathing. He couldn't even see through the walls or anything which meant there was a lot of magic present, it made his skin itch.

He slipped into the next gallery and froze, there was a figure across the room, examining something…too large to be either Tim or Bart. Great, of all the team why'd it have to be him to find the man and right as he found what he was looking for from the way he was caressing that display case. That was…yeah, nope, not going there. He had to take him down hard and fast, before he could cast anything or get the case open, he wasn't as vulnerable as Clark to magic thanks to the human genetics, but he was still weaker than the others on the team.

He began moving closer, working to keep out of sight and away from anything that might show his reflection. He was maybe halfway across the room when there was a click and a wave of green energy bathed the room. That was not good!

The magician turned to him, staff in hand, a triumphant smirk on his face. "Oh look, the perfect trial run. Superboy, aren't Kryptonians vulnerable to magic?" he asked.

Kon didn't answer lunging at him as the gem in the staff glowed ominously. He could hear vague whispers, at the edge of his hearing, and hoped it was the others getting close. For obvious reasons, he wasn't too fond of things that glowed green. Though he didn't feel sick like he would if it was Kryptonite.

"Put the staff down and hand yourself over," he ordered firmly, and the man laughed. Yeah, he probably wouldn't be intimidated either, but all Kon needed was one hit.

"Oh no, I don't think I will. I think you'll make a wonderful soldier in my new army, just like the rest of your little friends."

"Sorry, I don't work for crazy's."

"Don't worry, you won't even know it's happening," that smirk was not encouraging.

Kon's eyes kept going to the gem, seeing the way the light flickered, like a candle. He had to focus!

"Pretty, isn't it? One might say, mesmerising even."

What? Kon could hear the whispers clearer, voices he knew, calling softly. Tim? He had to be close then.

"That's it Superboy, let The Staff of the Oneiroi take all your worries. In eternal dreams you'll have everything you've ever wanted," the voice was distant, fading in and out.

Kon blinked sluggishly, swaying in place, as slowly his eyes began to reflect the gems glow, body gradually relaxing. His mind was becoming fuzzy, slow, even as he was embraced by warmth…the Kansas sun at midday…the time between blinks grew longer, the whispers calling to him ever more temptingly. He stumbled towards the staff, deaf to anything but the whispers and the magicians voice. His head slumped forward, eyelids fluttering, the green glow visible even behind closed lids, body folding towards the cold marble floor.

"Kon!" the voice blended with the whispers as dreams took form.

Wrapped in warmth, he didn't feel it, blinking as he tipped his head back to soak in the warmth of the sun.

"Conner sweetie, you don't want to be late," Ma called, and he turned to her, smiling shyly.

Late to what? He'd been…Tim, he was going to be late for their date! He rushed to his room, followed by softly amused laughter.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

He smirked as he looked at the crumpled body, the young man's face slack in sleep, green glow visible despite his eyes being closed. Yes, Superboy would be a wonderful first soldier. Totally obedient and unstoppable.

He dodged as weapons were flung his way, slipping back as the bird, what was his name, not Robin…Red Robin, that was it, entered the gallery. He hid as the vigilante approached his downed comrade; the magic was soaking into the very air the boy was breathing now.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Tim heard something up ahead, straining to hear…Kon! He picked up the pace, worried. He rounded the corner, spotting Kon wavering on his feet, the figure across from him with a glowing staff, and he threw the discs without even needing to think, swearing as the man vanished. Kon crumpled to the ground and didn't get up, Tim sliding across the floor to reach him, hitting his emergency beacon, hoping it would cut through the interference.

"Kon? Superboy open your eyes," he ordered, reaching to check his pulse, finding it slow and steady. He was…relaxed, peaceful looking, breathing deep…he looked like he was asleep…except for the eerie green glow coming from his closed eyes. "You have to wake up!" He could carry Kon, though not for long. He wasn't much taller than Tim but he was a lot heavier, muscle and Kryptonian biology making him a pain to move when unconscious.

He grabbed Kon's arm and put it over his shoulders, getting ready to stand with his deadweight. He could distantly hear voices, that had to be Cassie and Bart, good. She could carry Kon…he felt heavier than normal. Tim pushed them up, staggering under Kon's weight, looking up only to see a glowing green gem. What?

"Good, you're strong, that will make you more useful." The magician!

Tim dragged Kon backwards, if he dropped him, he'd never get him back up again. The whispers were louder, what was taking them so long… green glow…Kon's eyes! Tim immediately blacked out his mask, switching it to thermal mode instead, taking in the heat signatures.

He heard a chuckle, the heat signature shifting, and his free hand moved for more discs, he'd have to aim centre mass without being able to fully see him.

"Do you really think you have to see the Staff for it to work on you little bird?"

Tim bristled at the address, shifting Kon's ever heavier weight. Where were they? "What…what did you do to…Superboy," he shook his head to clear it, things were starting to feel fuzzy. Not good…had to get them away fast.

"Ah, so that's the way it is. Don't worry, you can spend eternity together, happy and safe. You'll sleep forever even as your body serves me."

"No," Tim denied. No way, that sounded creepy, like…like…he shook his head again, tightening his grip on the disc until it hurt, trying to use the pain to wake himself up more. He staggered back, struggling to hold Kon up.

"Don't fight it, just give in and rest. You're so tired of fighting, aren't you?"

He…he was tired…

"Look at the gem," the voice was distant, the whispers agreeing, and Tim fumbled with his mask settings until his vision cleared.

His grip on Kon faltered, the sleeping super slumping back to the floor as Tim wavered on his feet. Bone deep exhaustion settled in, his eyelids drooping as he stared at the pulsating gem, an echoing glow slowly appearing in his eyes. Tense muscles gradually loosened, the discs dropping to the ground. He shook his head, no…

"K…n…" his knees buckled as warmth embraced his mind, dulling his senses, drawing him deeper.

He collapsed partially on top of Kon, fast asleep.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Bart heard Tim hit the ground as he rounded the corner, saw them lying too still and he didn't hesitate, slamming full speed into the magic guy, sending him flying. He grabbed Tim and ran outside, setting him on a bench, and then ran back for Kon. Once away from the magic, they'd wake up, right?

He slapped Tim's cheek lightly, trying to rouse him, and then noticed the green glow coming from both of them. He hit his comm, relieved when it came on. "WG!" he used her initials in his panic. "He got them! They won't wake up and their eyes are glowing," he babbled, relieved when she appeared.

"He's gone and he has the staff," she growled before kneeling beside them to check them over. "This…this is godly power," she whispered. "Wonder Girl to Batman," she switched channels.

"Batman here."

"Red Robin and Superboy are down," she told him, and Bart was impressed with how steady her voice was. "The Staff of the Oneiroi was used on them, it feels like some kind of godly power, not just magic. Magician got away with it."

"Bring them to the Cave," Batman growled.

"Understood." She hung up and looked at him. "You've got Rob?"

"Of course," he nodded. He scooped Tim up, curling his cape around him to help give extra protection from the wind and then he took off for Gotham, Cassie following with Kon.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Alfred moved about the medical bay, preparing two beds and monitoring equipment, fearing for his grandson. Young Mistress Cassie said it was godly power that had taken them down, but how? She would have said if they were…dead or close to it.

And then Master Bart was there, lowering Master Timothy onto the first cot. The young speedster soon had him stripped and in a medical gown but left setting up the equipment to Alfred, for which he was grateful.

He could find no injuries, heartrate and breathing were steady…oh dear. "Master Bruce," he called.

The man he had raised since childhood entered just as Mistress Cassie appeared with Master Conner in the same condition as dear Timothy. Behind closed lids, their eyes flickered as if in REM sleep…a green glow visible.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"Keep Jason away," Bruce ordered as he stared at his second youngest. Tim looked like he was simply sleeping, if not for the glow. A glow too similar to one he saw in Jason's eyes too often. He wished he could keep everyone away. This wasn't the same, Wonder Girl had made no mention of a Lazarus Pit. "Report," he barked.

She nodded and went over their intel and the mission. It had been well planned and coordinated like all of the missions Tim ran. Their communications had always been vulnerable to high levels of magic, there was nothing they could have done about that. Then Impulse gave his report of hitting the man full speed…something that should have killed him, and it was obvious Bart knew that and didn't really care. At the moment…neither did Bruce, not when the man had tried to take his son…and may have succeeded. If the spell didn't wear off or lasted too long… No, Tim had brought him back from the time stream, they would not lose Tim to sleep.

He moved to summon Justice League Dark and Diana. They would be the most likely to know and would not dare ignore his call.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Tim smiled at Kon, taking his hand hesitantly, and Kon grinned back at him, holding on firmly as they walked through the country fair. Thanks to Kon they could go anywhere for a date and they had come to Santa Monica. Everything was so peaceful, no emergencies, no bat…bat? There was something…and then Kon leant in for a tentative kiss and Tim stopped thinking.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Diana gently brushed Tim's hair back from his face, the boy not stirring at her touch. The steady beeping of the monitors proved they both still lived, their brain activity showing they were even dreaming. She gently lifted his eyelid, taking in the solid green glow of his eye.

"The Staff of the Oneiroi," she murmured, frowning. Reluctantly, she stepped back and turned to Bruce. "It is not an artifact I am familiar with. The Oneiroi deal with dreams though, which fits with their current state. Have you contacted the Kents?"

"Not yet," Bruce grunted.

"They should be told," she chided gently. "Clark at least."

He nodded, tense, and she understood. He had lost Jason once, and now Tim…how long could a human sleep before their body failed? No, it would not come to that, the entire Justice League would hunt this magician down and force him to undo his spell. He was not the only one with the power of the gods behind them, his came from an artifact, hers came naturally.

"I've finished cleaning up Tim's mask footage. The audio is a little garbled still but he alluded to their bodies serving him even as they sleep."

"So, it is a good thing Bart and Cassie removed them from the scene swiftly. Hopefully, being away will keep them from his control. Perhaps Captain Marvel can add protections as well." She clasped a hand to his shoulder. "We will find a way to wake them Bruce," she swore. She would rally the entire Amazon nation if that was what it took to defeat this man and reclaim an object that would be far safer on their island or outright destroyed.
