Light POV
I stepped onto the overly crowded bus. I peaked behind me to see Sayu and my dad waving me goodbye for the final time in three years. This would be the longest time in my life I was away from my family. I turned my attention to the crowd as the doors creaked shut. I trailed towards a seat in the far-right corner of the bus. There were only three seats left and when I glanced at one of the seat's neighbor she rather prolifically glared back at me. So I took the initiative not to sit next to her.
I sat on an empty row near the window. It was particularly bright today. Most things were in bloom and looked incredible. I laid back and observed the people around me as the bus began to move on. Most of these people would be my classmates, so I thought profiling them would be useful in the long run.
No clicks had formed yet for the most part, since many of these people didn't know each, so most of them were fairly quiet. A number of people seemed nervous, whilst the others seemed to be in a trance. There were two people who stood out. One was a male with blond hair. He sat like a king in his makeshift throne. It was… interesting. Another person who stood out was a girl. She was actively talking to everyone around her.
She was quite adept socially and was able to get numerous people out of their shells in the few minutes she'd been on the bus. It was impressive, but after watching her for a few minutes and I noticed a few irregularities in her body language occasionally. I guess it didn't currently matter.
I sighed to myself as I turned back to the window. I had really never wanted to go to anhs . It was, simply put, expected of me. The moment I showed signs of genius, it was a given in my life that I'd be here. I didn't need to go. I had the necessary connections and grades to easily get myself a position as a detective. But there was no reason to contemplate this now.
The bus halted. The doors creaked open again and roughly five more people entered. There were two other students. One of them was a brunette with yellowish eyes. He seemed plain to say the least. His body language was oddly robotic, but apart from that there wasn't anything noticeable. The other one was more… distinct. His black hair was overgrown and unkempt. There were deep bags under his eyes and he had a lower posture.
His uniform was messy to say the least. His tie was barely hanging on, and his blazer was dropping off him. He scanned over the area, then began walking towards me. I slightly shifted as he sat down next to me. We held mild eye contact for a few minutes. I smiled at him. He seemed interesting enough. He had both of his feet on the seat and sat in an extremely odd position. I was about to break the ice when a ruckus began in the middle of the bus.
The blonde hair boy from earlier was causing a commotion. From what I could gather, a businesswoman was asking him to vacate his seat for the elderly lady. He thoroughly refused. The girl from earlier tried to chip in, but was also denied.
Watching the display was making me sick. It was pathetic that he couldn't give up his seat for the last few minutes he would be in here. I sighed as I stood up. "You can have my seat miss" I signalled her with a wave as I made my way out of my row.
"Thank you young man" she was guided to my seat by the young girl. This world truly is rotten.
"Thank you so much for that" I turned to see her walk over to me.
"Oh no it's nothing, it's just standard to give the elderly a seat"
"It was still really helpful. My names Kushida kikiyo, what's yours" she gave me a beaming that was almost blinding. I chuckled slightly.
"I'm light yagami, nice to meet you" I noticed the gaze of the boy who was next to me. I found it slightly odd, but maybe he recognized me from the national exams or something. "May l ask what class you're in" I wanted to see what type of students were in each class.
"I'm in class D" she said with her finger to her chin.
" I'm in class B, it's unfortunate we won't be classmates"
"That's sad, but we can still be friends" that basically ended our conversation. We said a few more things, but none of it was particularly interesting.
Then the bus stopped. "Well I'll see you later light" Kushida waved to me as she quickly exited the bus. Soon after, I walked off as well. I saw the place I'd be spending the next three years at. It was fairly large in scale as expected and bustling with students. I quickly entered.

The entrance ceremony was, of course, boring. Nothing that I didn't already know was said. I did, however, notice a few students with particular quirks, but for the moment they were fairly irrelevant.
After the ceremony, I began looking for my classroom. After trailing around the school for a moment, I found the room. I slid the door open. The first thing I noticed was the high amount of security cameras scattered in the corners of the rooms. In most schools there was only usually one camera per room, they were usually extremely obvious and served as more of a deterrent. Here they were partially hidden and there were many, which I found particularly odd. The second thing I noticed was I was the only person in the room yet.
There was no teacher nor any students. This wasn't concerning but a bit funny. I noticed my seat was in the back row on the middle seat. As I walked towards it, I heard the door open and swiftly turned to it. I saw a girl with pinkish hair and blue eyes enter the room with a surprising number of friends. I was genuinely impressed by the group she had already assorted.
When she noticed me, she smiled. I quickly smiled back. I stopped my advance to my seat and headed over to her group. Something that had occurred to me in the entrance ceremony was the differing quality of students between classes. The differences between class c and d weren't particularly noticeable, but if you compared either to class B or A the difference was very apparent.
I could imagine that test scores played a huge part in class placements, along with other factors. That's precisely why I wanted to socialize with a range of students to determine whether my assumptions were correct or not.
"Hello, I'm light yagami, it's a pleasure to meet you. I assume you're also in class B?" I smiled at them. I found that a friendly approach also seemed to work.
"Yeah I am, it's really nice to meet you. I'm ichinose honami, if you ever need help please just ask". A natural leader huh, she was extremely kind, and I'd even say charismatic to an almost unnatural degree.
"Don't worry, if I ever do need help I'll come straight to you" I extended my arm for a handshake that was quickly reciprocated.
