Peace, peace was all that he had felt at first. A calmed presence surrounded by the warmth of others that he could feel around him. Then, the pain had struck: something slow, oozing and seeping out and it wouldn't stop. For a brief moment everything stormed in at once, the agony of death, the earth falling on top of him, nature wrapping and choking, magic and the cosmos, time itself booming in his mind; the only thing keeping him grounded was the scratching against whatever shell had him locked inside as he wished to break free. "Excellent, truly excellent!" came a voice from outside the darkness, "Perhaps this batch will finally prove to be of some worth."
From within the egg, he then felt something else, as whoever outside was speaking, he felt his own newly formed mind cloud and muddle. "You will all serve me well in the end." The feeling had extended out to other presences he could feel. Other's just like him screaming with agony, hunger, and violence; it was all too much to bear, and he felt his mind almost slipping into the void just as the rest.
Just as it was all falling away a large booming crash had awoken his mind from the stupor. A large, commanding voice had filled whatever room he was in, "NEFARIAN!" it had cried, "YOUR CRIMES AGAINST LIFE ITSELF MUST NOT GO UNPUNISHED!"
Despite the fear, the power the voice had commanded, the presence that it had when washed over his egg had… calmed him. The splitting agony, the feeling that his scales might melt off his forming body had disappeared. The anger, hunger, pain all tearing his mind apart had just stopped, replaced by a feeling of warmth from within.
"Ah, a red dragon, wonderful!" The voice that must be Nefarian had exclaimed, "I was wondering if one of you self righteous fools would ever arrive. Now, can't you see that I am busy?"
"Can you not see the suffering you have caused?!" the voice countered, "The horrific mutations and destruction of our own kind? The pain I feel in these eggs around me gives me enough to know I must stop you!"
Nefarian let out deep laughter, "Then come and claim your justice!"
He felt the ground shake beneath his egg, and everything shook and rattled as the red dragon had taken flight, giving chase to Nefarian as his laughter soon became distant. The warmth he had felt had left his side, and the pain was slowly creeping back in. The pain that had crept into his very mind, the pain that was threatening to tear his body apart had returned.
Crack! He needed to escape this prison, he wanted it to end.
Crack! Blinding light was peeking out through the darkness, he began to reach his talons out for it.
Crack! The shell gave way and the light had poured in.
