Chapter 10

"Mike, what happens if this doesn't work?" Rachels asks as all four of them are standing a couples buildings down.

"I do not know, but I know Harvey so it will be okay," Mike says.

"I lost him on the blackberry, he cut the line off," Benjamin says.

"What?" Mike says. They all look at each other in shock. Jessica steps forward and looks at Benjamin's computer which shows that the call was disconnected.

"Got dammit, I am not going to loose Harvey or Donna over this plan which we never should have let him follow through with in the first place," Jessica says. All of them look at the time which shows about 4 more minutes before the police would show up.

"So what do we do?" Benjamin asks.

"I guess we wait, and hope that it all turns out," Jessica says.

Harvey lunges at Marcus while he is distracted looking at Donna, he is able to knock him off balance. Marcus drops the knife and Donna as he hits the floor. Harvey jumps over to Donna to grab her and help her up.

He can see all of the cuts and bruises she has all over. "We need to get you out of here now," Harvey says as he throws her arm over his shoulder. Before they can get a couple steps Marcus jumps at both of them from behind pulling Donna backwards by her hair. She hits her head hard on the concrete.

In a daze of confusion she lays there staring straight at Harvey with a blank expression. As she lays there Marcus plans a sight kiss on her cheek. Donna does not react, her thoughts are all blurred together.

"You son of a bitch," Harvey yells out as he jumps at Marcus knocking him off of Donna.

Marcus scrambles up looking for his knife, he sees it right next to the bed, as Harvey jumps back at him again Marcus lands a big punch right into the side of Harvey's head knocking him over. Marcus takes that chance to lung for his knife grabbing it firm in his hand.

Both Harvey and Marcus are standing up facing each other. Marcus tries to use the knife against Harvey but he moves around avoiding the blade by blocking his arms at every attempt. Both are still struggling to bring each other down until Harvey hears Donna begin to groan. In his slight distraction towards Donna, Marcus takes the chance to cut Harvey's arm and kick him straight in the spine. He falls to the ground with the wind knocked out of him.

Marcus runs over to Donna as she begins to come out of her daze. "Just know, I was going to be slow and take my time. But now I have to be quick and this is going to hurt," Marcus says as he raises up the knife above Donna.

"Get away from her," Harvey says as he struggles to get up.

Donna moves her head to look at Harvey who is still struggling to catch his breath. She then felt a huge sting in her stomach as Marcus drops the knife in. She shuts her eyes really tight to try and get past the pain. She can feel her warm blood begin to run over her dress and down he side, pooling up around her on the floor.

"Donna!" Harvey yells out as he scrambles to his feet. He charges at Marcus and knocks him over before he has the chance to pull the knife out. As they both struggle to get a grip on each other they both here the sound of footsteps approaching.

"Both of you, stop," A police officer yells.

"Oh my God, Donna!" Rachel yells as she runs into the room with the police officers. One of the police stop Rachel from rushing to her friends side.

Marcus is pulled up away from Harvey and put into handcuffs. Through the door Harvey can see Scottie who is also being put in handcuffs and being taken away.

A moment later a medic comes in the assess Donna's condition. Harvey, Rachel, Mike, Benjamin, and Jessica are all escorted out of the building and giving statements on the events of the week. As Harvey is finishing up giving his statement he sees the medics pull Donna out of the building on a rolling stretcher. She has on an oxygen masks and has multiple compression packs on her stomach to keep her from bleeding out.

"She has suffered a lot of trauma, we are taking her to the New York state hospital for treatment," One of the police officers said. All any of them could do was stare at Donna as she was loaded into the ambulance and escorted to the hospital. All of them quickly load into the SUV and follow them downtown.

When they get there they wait for what felt like hours in the waiting room. After a little while Luis storms into the hospital demanding to see Donna. Jessica explains to him what all happened at the warehouse. As they wait for news from the doctor Harvey replays every moment of that final fight with Marcus in his head wishing that he had done one thing differently to protect her better.

Finally a nurse comes out into the waiting room. "Donna Paulsen's family," She says. All of them stand up. Harvey walks towards the nurse to talk to her.

"We went in and did the repair in the abdomen, she lost a lot of blood and is severely dehydrated and malnourished. There is one thing that needs to be discussed. We need permission to do a few tests on her," The nurse starts to say.

"What kind of tests?" Harvey asks.

"Well with the damages all over her body and the significant bleeding down below we needed a power of attorney to sign off on the rape kit," The nurse says.

That statement stung Harvey worse than ever before. He looks at the paper which explains every part of the testing, he takes the pen and signs his name down below. Being her Lawyer and can be granted power of attorney. He hands the signed document back to the nurse and goes to sit back down.

"Uh excuse me, when can we see her?" Rachel asks.

"As soon as we are done with these tests, it will need to be short and in small groups. She has been through a lot," The nurse says as she walks back through the big double doors.

"What tests are they doing now?" Louis asks Harvey. He can't bring himself to say it out loud. He looks straight at Louis and begins to cry.

Based on his reaction Louis understands what kind of tests they were doing. He leans back in his chair. Everyone looks at each other in disbelief.

"Oh my God," Rachel says as she puts her head in her hands. Mike rubs her back to try and comfort her.

"We got her back, that is what matters now," Mike says trying to comfort everyone.

"Yeah but, something like this. How will she ever be the same?" Rachel asks. No one wants to answer that question. All they can do is hope that with time they can put all of this past them.

Finally the nurse came back and said that they can go in two at time for about 10 minutes each. Harvey and Rachel both decide that they should be the ones to go first. As Harvey gets to her door he feels a sense of dread. He felt as though all of this was his fault. Rachel sees the emotions on his face. She puts her hand on his arm to calm him down.

"She is never going to think that this is your fault, she fought like hell to get back to you," Rachel says.

With those words Harvey finds the strength to open the door to the room. Donna comes into sight, she is still sleeping, he can see the bandages that are around her arms, the oxygen mask that is on her face, and all the tubes that are feeding her the fluids and nutrition she was lacking. Harvey pulls the chair from under the counter over to the side of the bed and sits next to her. He slowly reaches for her hands and holds it firmly in his own.

The movement of her hand startles her awake. She glances over and sees Harvey and she releases a big sigh of relief. "Hey," She says quietly.

"Hey," Harvey says back. Donna looks over to the foot of her bed where she sees Rachel standing there. Donna smiles at her slightly relieved to finally see some familiar faces with her.

"The nurse is letting us come in two at a time to see for a little bit. Louis, Mike and Jessica are in the waiting room," Rachel says. The smile on Donna's face disappears. She shakes her head. She does not feel ready to face everyone like this.

"I-" Donna tries to explain but Harvey cuts her off.

"Hey it is okay. Only when you're ready," Harvey says keeping a firm hold on her hand. "Hey Rachel, could you give us a minuet?" Harvey asks.

Rachel nods her head and walks out the door.

"Donna, I don't know what to say. I am so sorry that this-" Harvey tries to say.

"Harvey, it's not your fault," Donna says.

"But it is, this whole thing was about me and you got caught in the crosshairs. I had made a promise to you back when we first started that I would always protect you and I didn't do that," Harvey explains.

"Harvey, it is going to be alright," Donna says trying to comfort him. All he could think about was the fact that she got hurt because of him.

"You could have been killed because of me, I don't think I could ever live with myself if that ever happened to you," Harvey says. He reaches he other hand out to put on her shoulder.

She immediately flinches to get away from his hand. The pain of her wounds began to hurt, she turns her head away as she tries to take a few deep breaths.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" Harvey says. Watching her react that way to his touch made him feel sick to his stomach.

"No it's not you, it's umm, I just, I'm not-" Donna tries to say. She can't find the right words to how she reacted to that.

"Okay, well you need your rest, I am going to head back out and talk to everyone here. I will come back and see you tomorrow, okay?" Harvey says.

"Okay," Donna whispers.

Harvey walks out of the room and slowly shuts the door. As he walks back into the waiting room, he sees everyone standing around with Rachel.

"Well?" Louis asks.

"She is not up to more visitors right now; she is being taken care. I am coming back tomorrow," Harvey says as he walks out of the hospital.

"So that's it? You're just leaving?" Louis yells as they follow him out of the hospital.

"What else am I supposed to do Louis? Tell her she is seeing everyone whether she likes it or not? She has had no control over anything the whole week and so right now if she wants something she is getting it," Harvey yells.

Louis has no more words for Harvey. "Okay that is enough, everyone needs sleep," Jessica says. Everyone gets in their separate cars and departs the hospital.

Instead of heading home, Harvey sets off to the New York City prison.

"Hello sir, how can I help you?" A woman at the counter says.

"Hi my name is Harvey Specter, I am a lawyer at Person Specter, I am here to see Stephen Huntly," Harvey says.

"Okay, right through here, we will bring him in shortly," The women says as she walks him into one of the interview rooms.

While Harvey paces Stephen is brought in by one of the security guards. "Well if it isn't Harvey Specter, what an unexpected honor," Stephen says as he sits down.

"Let's not pretend you do not know what has happened," Harvey says as he sits down.

"I was brought up to speed yes," Stephen says.

"Here is the thing, we found her. Donna is safe and away from your little buddies and now you and I are going to have a little chat," Harvey says. Stephen straightens himself up. He did not know that Harvey has found her.

"Well, that is great, I hope she is okay," Stephen says. Those words make Harvey's skin crawl.

"She is fine now, no thanks to you," Harvey says.

"I think you mean no thanks to you. If you had been more careful with who you use around you, she would not have been in that situation. She was your weak spot and we pressed it. Now she will never be the same. You will go around you little firm knowing that when she comes in late you will wonder who you upset enough now. Everyone in the world will know what happened to her and how it affected you. It will follow you both around and you will wonder every time she does not answer if she is safe. It will drive you nuts for the rest of your life," Stephen says.

"You listen here you piece of shit, all of you will be brought out for this and people will see what happens when you mess with me. No one will ever come near me or Donna again," Harvey says as he gets up.

"Well, I hope you're right, you may have proof that they contacted me, but you have no proof of what we talked about," Stephen says.

"Maybe not, but I am Harvey Specter, I always win," he says as he walks out of the room. Harvey decides it is best to go home, laying down in his bed he feels less guilty knowing that Donna was safe around doctors who would be around her all night.

Donna lays awake in the bed, running her fingers over her arms feeling all the bumps and cuts that she had. Everything hurt, she knew that it would probably be worse if she wasn't on any pain medication. It took her a while to try and fall asleep, every time she closed her eyes all she could think of was being stuck in that room.

The nurses would be in every little while to see if she was alright because she would wake up sleeping. The nurses finally decided she needed a sedative to help get her through the night. Donna had not issue with it, she knew she needed the sleep. She knew that it would help, and she knew that no matter what; she was now safe.

As the sedative began to kick in, she closed her eyes thinking about Harvey.
