Charlotte's Past
The group are currently in the Pokemon Center in Camphrier Town having lunch while Nazz was getting her Pokemon healed after the battles at the Battle Chateau.
"I am definitely going to step up my Pokemon's training; those Earls and Countesses were tough." said Nazz.
"Yeah; us too." replied Kevin. "Maybe I'll train up my Tyrunt for a while."
"I'm going to train my new Clauncher also." said Jonny.
"Rolf will also train his Pokemon." said Rolf. After they finished their lunch, Nazz picked up her Pokemon and the group left the Pokemon Center. They left Camphrier Town and continued travelling east towards Lumiose City.
"So what kind of Pokemon do you guys think the next gym leader will use?" asked Jonny.
"Don't know." replied Kevin.
"Rolf will face any Pokemon." said Rolf.
"That's the spirit, Rolf." said Nazz. As the group continued walking while Kevin was biking, Nazz sees Charlotte. "Hey, it's Charlotte." They saw that Charlotte was facing a girl about her age with light brown hair tied in a ponytail, wearing a light blue, long sleeved shirt, blue skirt, blue Mary Jane shoes over tall white socks and a blue backpack. Charlotte was frowning at the girl.
"Uh, is there a problem?" asked the girl Charlotte was looking at. Charlotte didn't reply. "You're starting to creep me out." The girl looks past Charlotte and at the group; Charlotte turns and sees the group.
"Oh, it's you." Charlotte says to Nazz with no enthusiasm in her voice. She looks at Nazz's Marchioness cape. "Got promoted to Marchioness?"
"Yeah." said Nazz. She saw that Charlotte also had a Marchioness cape on. "You're a Marchioness now also?"
"Yes. Now as much as I would love to talk with you, I have a score to settle with this girl here." said Charlotte, pointing at the other girl.
"Score to settle? What did I ever do to you?!" asked the girl. Charlotte frowns at the girl.
"You don't remember me, do you?" asked Charlotte.
"I don't remember meeting any creepy goth girls." replied the girl.
"Maybe I wasn't a 'creepy goth girl' until you took a friend of mine from me." replied Charlotte, bitterly.
"What friend?" asked the girl.
(Flashback)
In a forest, a young girl with curly blonde hair, wearing an orange dress, yellow Mary Jane shoes over white socks and an orange bow on her head was walking down a path, carrying a small, wicker basket, laughing happily. She soon reached a small clearing. In the middle of the clearing was a bear cublike Pokemon; it smiled when the girl arrived.
"Hi, Teddiursa." said the girl, happily and she runs to the Pokemon, now identified as a Teddiursa, and the Teddiursa runs to the girl; the Teddiursa jumps onto the girl's arms and they hug, laughing. They spent time skipping through the forest, merrily, playing Hide and Seek, sitting under a tree, eating apples from the wicker basket the girl brought with her. Later in the clearing, the girl reaches into her pocket and pulls out an orange ribbon. She ties it into a bow around one of the Teddiursa's ears. "I'm glad we're friends, Teddiursa."
"Urs." replied Teddiursa, happily.
"And when I become a Pokemon trainer, we can travel the world together." said the girl. Teddiursa smiles, making the girl laugh happily.
(End flashback)
"Wow; sounds like you and that Teddiursa were close." said Nazz.
"We were." replied Charlotte.
"So, what happened?" asked Nazz. Charlotte clenched her fists, and she began trembling.
(Flashback)
The girl, now revealed to be Charlotte, was walking down the forest, carrying the wicker basket.
"I hope Teddiursa loves the peaches I'm bringing her." said Charlotte, happily. When she reached the clearing, what she saw made her drop her picnic basket and replaced the smile on her face with a look of shock.
Teddiursa was on the ground, battered, while struggling to get up. Standing several feet from her was a girl with light brown hair, wearing a light blue t-shirt, blue shorts, and light blue shoes over white socks; standing in front of the girl was a quadrupedal, light blue Pokemon with a small horn on its forehead.
"Nidoran, Poison Sting!" said the girl. The Pokemon, now identified as a Nidoran opens its mouth and releases glowing white darts from its mouth and they hit Teddiursa; one of the darts hits the ribbon she was wearing, making it fall off. Teddiursa falls to the ground. Charlotte runs to the girl.
"Please stop hurting Teddiursa!" cried Charlotte as she grabs the girl's arm. The girl shoved Charlotte to the ground.
"Beat it; this Pokemon's mine!" replied the girl. She pulls a pokeball out of her pocket.
"No! Don't capture her!" cried Charlotte. The girl ignores her and throws the pokeball at Teddiursa and it hits her. Charlotte and Teddiursa look at each other before Teddiursa turns into red energy and gets sucked into the pokeball. It wiggled around a few times before it clicks, indicating Teddiursa's capture.
"Yes! Teddiursa's mine!" cheered the girl. Charlotte looks at the pokeball Teddiursa was in before it vanishes. The girl and the Nidoran both look at Charlotte.
"We were going to travel the world together." Charlotte timidly said. The girl sneers at Charlotte.
"Well, I guess you'll have to find a new travelling buddy then." replied the girl. She looks at the Nidoran. "Come on, Nidoran, let's go." Nidoran nods and it and the girl walk past Charlotte, they stopped by the wicker basket Charlotte dropped and grabs a few peaches. "Don't mind if I do." She and Nidoran leave the clearing. Charlotte drops to her hands and knees and began crying; she sees the ribbon Teddiursa was wearing and picks it up. She looks at it and holds it close to her while gray clouds appeared in the sky.
Later, it was raining; at a small cottage, Charlotte was sitting in a corner of her bedroom, with her face against her knees, crying. She pulls the orange bow off her head and tosses it aside.
(End Flashback)
"Charlotte; I'm so sorry that happened." said Nazz.
"Whatever." muttered Charlotte. The girl grins at Charlotte.
"I remember that day." said the girl. "You look so different back then." Charlotte frowns at the girl. "Tell you what, I'll give you a chance to 'settle the score' by having a Pokemon battle." She pulls a Lure Ball out of her belt.
"How many Pokemon are we using?" asked Charlotte.
"How does two Pokemon sound" asked the girl.
"Whatever." replied Charlotte.
"I'm Rita by the way." said the girl, now identified as Rita.
"Don't care." said Charlotte as she pulls a Net Ball out of her pocket.
"Go, Luvdisc!" said Rita, throwing the Lure Ball and releasing a Luvdisc.
"Skrelp, go." said Charlotte, tossing her Net Ball and releasing her Skrelp. "Skrelp, Poison Tail." Skrelp leaps at Luvdisc while its tail was glowing purple and it hits Luvdisc with it, knocking it to the ground. It turned purple under Luvdisc's eyes.
"Luvdisc's poisoned." said Nazz.
"Luvdisc, Take Down!" said Rita. Luvdisc leaps at Skrelp and rams it, knocking it back. Luvdisc flinches in pain from the recoil damage of Take Down. Luvdisc coughs from its poisoning and loses more stamina.
"Skrelp, Feint Attack." said Charlotte. Skrelp leaps at Luvdisc and rams into it, knocking it to the ground. It struggles to get up.
"Luvdis, Water Pulse!" said Rita. Luvdisc forms a ball of water in front of its mouth, and it launches it at Skrelp, hitting it, but not doing much damage, and not making Skrelp confused.
"Water attacks don't work well against water Pokemon." said Charlotte. Luvdisc coughs from its poisoning and it collapses.
"No!" yelled Rita. She glares at Charlotte who stares at her. "How can you do that to Luvdisc?!"
"If you can find it within yourself to take my friend from me, I can find it within myself to hurt your Pokemon." replied Charlotte. Rita growls and returns Luvdisc to its Lure Ball. She puts it away and pulls out a regular pokeball.
"Tell you what, I'll give you a chance to settle the score with the Pokemon that helped me take Teddiursa; and like you, she also went through changes." said Rita. "Nidorina, go!" She tosses the pokeball and releases a light blue, quadrupedal Pokemon with large spikes coming out of the back of it. Nazz takes out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Nidorina, the Poison Pin Pokemon, and the evolved form of a female Nidoran. When feeding its young, it first chews the food into a paste, then spits it out for the offspring." said the pokedex.
"Ew, that sounds gross." said Nazz.
"Nidorina, Bite!" said Rita. Nidorina runs at Skrelp and bites it, hurting it, and making it flinch. "Now use Fury Swipes!" Nidorina repeatedly swipes at Skrelp with her front paws, knocking Skrelp back.
"Water Pulse." said Charlotte. Skrelp forms a ball of water in front of its snout and launches it at Nidorina, and it hits her. "Just so you know, my Skrelp is holding a Sea Incense, so now her water attacks are stronger."
"Bite one more time!" said Rita. Nidorina runs at Skrelp and bites her, doing enough damage to knock her out. "Ha! Nidorina wins!"
"You haven't won the battle yet." said Charlotte as she returns Skrelp to her Net Ball. She puts it away and pulls out a regular pokeball. "Gothorita, go." She tosses the pokeball and releases a black, humanoid Pokemon with slim arms and legs, a purple face and had white bows on its torso and hair buns. Nazz points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Gothorita, the Manipulate Pokemon, and the evolved form of Gothita. According to many old tales, it creates friends for itself by controlling sleeping children on starry nights." said the pokedex.
"Her Gothita must've evolved." said Nazz.
"Won't be enough to save it." said Rita. "Nidorina, Poison Sting!" Nidorina fires white darts out of her mouth and they hit Gothorita. "Remember that move? It was the last move Nidorina used on Teddiursa before I captured her." Charlotte's expression darkened.
"Psybeam." said Charlotte. Gothorita holds out her arms and fires a multicolored beam of energy out of them and they hit Nidorina, dealing super effective damage. "That Odd Incense I gave her was worth the money I spent on it."
"So now Gothita's psychic type moves are stronger." said Nazz. Nidorina begins stumbling around.
"And it looks like Nidorina's confused." said Kevin.
"Nidorina, try using Bite!" said Rita. Nidorina bites onto her front left leg instead, causing her damage. "No, don't bite yourself!"
"Gothorita, Psyshock." said Charlotte. Gothorita forms three orbs of blue, light blue, and purple energy above it and launches them at Nidorina, hitting her, dealing super effective damage, causing an explosion. When the dust cleared, Nidorina was on the ground with swirly eyes.
"NOOOO! I LOST!" cried Rita while dropping to her knees and clutching her head.
"If I was still capable of smiling and cheering, I'd do both." said Charlotte. Rita returns Nidorina to her pokeball and glares at Charlotte with tears in her eyes while she looks back at her with an emotionless stare. Rita walks backwards while trembling.
"If w-we ever m-meet at the Kalos League, I-I will b-beat you." stuttered Rita. She throws pokedollars at Charlotte and runs away. Charlotte begins picking up the pokedollars while Nazz walks to her.
"Charlotte; I'm sorry about Teddiursa." said Nazz.
"Sorry won't bring Teddiursa back to me." muttered Charlotte. She returns Gothorita to its pokeball and walks away while Nazz and her friends watched. After that, they began travelling on their way to Lumiose City on their way to Laverre City where their next gym battle awaits them.
Charlotte continued walking while looking at a tattered orange ribbon she was clutching in her hand. She lets out a sigh.
