Out in the void of space, a curious blue box spun in circles like a top. It spiraled around toward the earth, like a missile. What was strange about the blue box spinning through the atmosphere was the mere fact it seemed to be a 1960s police box.
Inside the box was even stranger, it was much larger than it should be. Yellow crystals framed the main room, circling the large crystal in the center. A man stumbled around dizzy. He wore a white jacket, with a blue woman's shirt. He had long messy ginger hair, with stunning green eyes.
"Oh crap, this is new, actually everything feels new; how curious?" the man noted to himself, with a accent that could be located somewhere in Northern Ireland. Soon an explosion catches his attention. "No time to react I guess." The man ran toward the center console which surrounded the center crystal.
The man began to flip switches, pull leavers, twist nobs, and spin wheels. He frantically ran across the console as more explosions went off.
The man grunted a bit, as his eyes shot about the place. "Stay with me girl," the man pleaded, seemingly to the box itself. The box continued to spiral down, fire surrounding it as it fell through the atmosphere like a meteor.
It spinned out of control, at least what could be seen from the outside. For a blue box it also seemed to move effortly through the air.
Domrémy-la-Pucelle, France
1425
It was a nice day; the wind blew softly against the vibrant green vegetation, leading toward a small cabin and a farm. Flowers and vegetables grew near this humble place as a young blonde girl played outside. She was smiling with the child-like joy that her imagination brought her. This girl was Jeanne d'Arc, and little did she know the hero she was soon to be.
Jeanne ran with the few chickens walking about. She let out a small laugh as the door to the cabin cracked ever-so-slightly. "Jeanne, can you please bring hay out to the horses? Me and your father will be heading into town for a minute," the voice of her mother rang out.
"Yes mother," Jeanne chirped loudly before marching her way to a humble, though slightly run downed barn.
The two horses huffed softly as Jeanne picked up a pitchfork. She stabbed it into a pile of hay and carefully placed it near each horse. She smiled and petted them softly, her soft hands felt their fur.
"How've you been," Jeanne asked one of the horses, and of course received no answer. "I've been good, and happy like always," the young girl smiled answering her question.
Jeanne hummed to herself. The door to the cabin opened and closed in the distance, meaning her parents left. Her siblings were out and about around the farm as well. On this clear day, she saw a falling star in the sky. At first, she smiled as she saw it, and then it started getting closer to her. Jeanne's green eyes widened seeing a small bit of blue fall into the first nearby them.
She turned her head from side to side, glaring out between the trees and bushes. She saw small flames and fallen trees, then the most curious thing: a man walking what seemed to be a precious -no a holy blue box. His hair was messy and his clothes dirty and torn.
"Hello, would you happen to know where I am?" the man asked confused, rubbing the back of his head. His accent was unfamiliar to her.
Jeanne said nothing at first as she stared at the man with awe. She believed we were an angel, from a combination of her imagination and the timing of his appearance.
"Hello?" the man repeated snapping his fingers in the girl's face impatiently. Jeanne shook out of her trance as the man placed his hand on his chin.
"Sorry, monsieur, I mean... actually how would you like me to address you, angel?" Jeanne asked politely and apologetically.
The man chuckled a bit to himself, which confused go young girl slightly. "You can call me the Doctor," the man said.
"Doctor who?" The girl asked raising an eyebrow. Jeanne stared at the man for a brief second.
"Just the Doctor," the man simply replied. The air of mystery only fueled Jeanne's belief that this man was an angel testing her faith. "Anyway, can you answer my question on where we are?"
"You are at my home," Jeanne said honestly with a kind tone. The Doctor gave her a deadpan look, starting at her.
"I could not have figured that out," The Doctor said sarcastically, then he paused and raised an eyebrow. "Am I mean?" he asked in a muttered tone before shaking his head. "I'm sorry, I meant the city."
"Around the town of Domrémy-la-Pucelle, if I remember correctly," Jeanne answered with a slight smile on her face.
"Oh, I landed in France after a regeneration; that's new," The Doctor laughed before he looked around. "Though everything feels slightly too wide and a bit too far to the left. If I may ask what is your name?"
"Jeanne, Jeanne d'Arc!" Jeanne chirped with her eyes gleaming with joy.
"Jeanne... Jeanne!" The Doctor repeated to himself growing a large smile. "Jeanne d'Arc, ha! Though I meant her and she is not blonde."
Jeanne looked at the Doctor with a mildly confused look on her face. She never met this man in her life, at least to her knowledge. Then she began to smile, thinking it reinforced her idea of this man being an angel.
The Doctor looked before moving his hand through his hair. "Wait, am I ginger?"
Jeanne looked at him with a more than confused look. "I don't think you are a root."
"I mean my hair color, is it red?" The Doctor clarified, which then earned him a nod from the young girl. "Bloody hell finally!"
The Doctor felt a small tingle in his gut. It traveled up his body like a snake, before exiting his mouth as a golden mist. Jeanne looked at him as the golden mist left his breath, believing this confirmed her suspicions of this man being an angel.
"Sorry, that was just a little regeneration energy," the Doctor apologized. He stared at Jeanne, who was trying to hold herself back. "I guess you learned my secret, I am an angel," he joked with a shrug.
Jeanne gasped from excitement before falling to the ground by accident. "I'm ok," she chirps.
The Doctor laughs, looking around the area. He hummed to himself as he stated everything felt off. He took a small metal trinket out of his pocket, studying it. Jeanne looked at him and then at the trinket, her mind jumped to a wand, which was witchcraft, but why would an angel practice witchcraft?
"My saint, what is that," Jeanne asked with a curious tone.
The Doctor laughed, his eyes glancing at Jeanne, with a smile on his face. "It's a Sonic screwdriver. Though it is not as impressive as me being ginger, ha!"
The Doctor clicked something on this Sonic Screwdriver, causing it to light up and create a strange buzzing sound. The Doctor's face began to contort as he moved toward the house.
"Where are you going, saint?" Jeanne asked, following after the Doctor. The Doctor stormed off, on a mission that Jeanne had no clue of what it was.
"I already told you my name, so please call me by it," the Doctor requested marching off, touching the wooden wall of the cabin. He pressed the Sonic Screwdriver against it, letting create a buzzing sound again.
"If you're an angel, why do you prefer being called the Doctor?" Jeanne asked, causing the Doctor to stop in his tracks.
"Because I like to think I help people," the ginger answers, before examining the wood and then the grass on the ground. "Just as I thought, I'm in a parallel universe," the Doctor noted to himself. "But how did I get here?"
"Doctor, what are you doing," Jeanne asked respectfully, causing the Doctor to pop up at full height.
"Looking for answers, and it turns out I'm not meant to be here. Bloody hell, who would've thought I would be in another universe?" The Doctor cheered with excitement, his eyes darted around the place. Jeanne had a confused look on her face, as she tried to keep her happy smile. "I mean look, the barn is two centimeters to the left, this cabin is too short, your hair is blonde, and the sky is a shade too bright," the Doctor listed.
"I'm confused," Jeanne admitted.
"Of course you are, but all versions of you were, to my knowledge. But if you were anything like Jeanne I know you would be fighting the British army and saving France, taking charge of armies, and being a bloody fantastic person," the Doctor said with a brilliant smile making Jeanne's heart warm up a bit. If an angel was telling her this, then it must be true, she would be wonderful.
The Doctor paused for a second his expression went from a smile to a slight frown, and his mind began to race. He has no idea how this universe is meant to work, and he sure as hell has no clue how to get back home. He could be breaking rules and ruining the timeline, but then again he is the Doctor. His face lit up once more. He ran to the blue box past the barn.
Jeanne curiously followed him to the box to see and massive room -far too big inside the box. "What are you doing?"
"I'm about to go on an adventure, explore a new universe," the Doctor said with a laugh. "New, I haven't seen many new things in a while, now it's like I'm a child in a candy store. I don't know where to start!" Jeanne raised an eyebrow at the Doctor, who gave her the biggest smile. "Would you like to come with me?"
Jeanne looks and reaches her hand in before pulling it back. "No, I have too much here, and if I am to save France, like you said, I must be ready."
"You are always the same," the Doctor smiled before the doors closed with a small explosion sending the Doctor back a bit.
A screeching sound fills the air as Jeanne backs away from the angel's blue box and disappears slowly, leaving its crater behind. Jeanne smiled as she ran back to the barn and cabin.
Somewhere in Space
The void was empty, minus the stars shimmering around the nothingness. Though something was off, there was a small crack. The crack was that similar to glass, slowly breaking away and it got bigger. Nearby a ship, one that looked like a needle approached it.
The ship -or those inside seemed curious about this crack in space. Inside were these halls like that of an insect nest. The large insectoid creature crawled along, their bodies of that of centipedes. It entered a massive room, with a throne facing out this large panel of glass looking at the crack.
One of the creatures looked at holograms of the crack and the sector around it as if they were investigating it. Before long there was a ping from a nearby planet, the planet called Earth.
TARDIS
The Doctor ran around the console as everything seemed to struggle to stay together. The screeching freezing noise was weak and sickly as the Doctor's smile faltered.
"Stay with me girl, just one adventure, and then you can change," the Doctor promised. The consoled hummed in acceptance as the wheezing stopped.
The Doctor smiled as he flipped a switch and pressed a few buttons. "Onward to our nex-" the Doctor began to say before being cut off by a sudden crash landing. He fell to the floor with a groan. "That was harsh."
He stood up and walked toward the door, pushing it open to reveal a wonderous open plain, glorious trees, and Jeanne d'Arc, a black-haired boy, and a pink-haired girl staring directly at him.
"What?" he asked staring at them.
"What?" they ask in unison.
What!?" Everyone asked.
A/N: This is the start of an exciting adventure with the Doctor. If you are coming from Destiny Final Order, that announcement was posted later than I would've liked, but you win some you lose some.
