It was a warm day at Berk, which meant that you only had to wear one layer of winter clothes.

Like every day, Hiccup woke up late in the morning, where either every other Viking is already awake or has even started working.

"Time for the village screw-up to get to work." He said to himself, which would have gained him a glare and punch from Astrid, but on her behalf, Toothless slapped him with his tail.

"It was a joke you overprotective reptile." He said it with a chuckle and some sarcasm. "But I still need to get to work, so you go back to sleep. I will wake you up in an hour for our morning flight."

And without hesitation, Toothless curled up again and went to sleep.

Hiccup wanted to do the same, mornings never were his thing, but he knew he had stuff to do so he got dressed, ate bread with yak milk and went out so he could greet the rare summer day and start his checklist for today.

Halfway to the smith, where his checklist started, Astrid came up beside him. "Good morning Hiccup. Always so early, you sleepyhead." She greeted him and slapped his back lightly.

"Good morning, milady." Hiccup greeted her back, ignoring the comment about his sleep schedule. "I'm happy to see you." He added.

"Oh, and why is that?" She asked expecting some kind of little flirt.

But Hiccup's answer wasn't so `flirty'. "I am currently working on a new Smithing-Hammer-Prosthetic-Thingy for Gobber and wanted to ask you to get me some metal from the market because I am running low on it again." He asked, oblivious of what she expected.

"Always the flirt." She said sarcastic but playful. "But I think I can do that see you at the forge." She gave him a peck on the cheek and then left.

Hiccup smiled after her for a second and then made the rest of the way to the forge.

Once he opened the door, the hot steam hit his face, which meant for him that Gobber is already working and probably making new tools for his dragon dentist job, which has been really helpful in the last few years. "Good morning Gobber. Hard at work, I see." Hiccup greeted him while sweat is starting to form on his forehead because of the high temperatures in the forge. "Ah mornin' lad, finally here too eh?" "Ok you, Astrid, and my dad can stop bringing that up I know that I wake up later than others but now I'm here so let's get started." He said right after with a little annoyed tone.

He helped the old blacksmith and mentor with his dentist tools until Astrid came in with the metal.

"Hiccup? I have the metal you asked for." She called out, looking around the surprisingly big and steamy blacksmith. "I'm right here Astrid coming."

After she gave him the metal and he dropped it off in his workshop, which nobody was allowed to step in ever since he uses it to make gifts for others so nobody would see their present, he went outside with her after a quick `see ya later lass“ from Gobber.

Once outside he thanked her for the metal and asked. "So, because of the nice weather, me and Toothless will have a little longer patrol flight later. Wanna join us?" She went through her checklist in her mind and then quickly nodded. "Pick me up in half an hour. I just have to find Sven's lost sheep, and then I'm good to go." She then turned around and walked in the direction of the forest, where the sheep probably went off to.

This time Hiccup watched her a little longer, seeing how her hair shined in the morning sun and how her hips swayed while walking. `I'm the luckiest Viking alive“ he thought to himself, but when he looked up again, Astrid looked in his eyes and gave him a little smirk over her shoulder, which made him go red instantly.

After his blissful moment was over he turned around but before he could reenter the forge he was grabbed by the shoulders by an anxious Fishlegs. "Good Mor-"Hiccup wanted to greet him but Fishlegs cut him off by shouting. "Berk is being attacked by Dragons Hiccup we need your help!"

He instantly called Toothless and said Dragon was there in under a minute. Hiccup got into his saddle and followed Fishlegs to the docks. "It looks like our flight has to wait." He said to Toothless before they took off.
