Author's notes: This is my first story and I welcome all reviews, please be kind and respectful. This story takes place just a few months after the Battle of Hogwarts and moves the Twilight timeline back to 1998. I am writing in the first person from Harry's perspective throughout. Enjoy!

Chapter 1- Welcome to Forks

I could hear Voldemort's high pitched shrieking laugh as he taunted me. "You think you can win?" He said aiming his wand at me.

"Expelliarmus!" I yelled as he cast the killing curse at me. The priori incantatem connected as his spell met mine. "I am the Elder Wand's true master." I called out over the crackling of the two colliding spells. The connection broke as I turned my wand away and jumping out of the way of his spell. "I'm done with you an all of the pain that you caused all of us, my parents, all of my friends and family, blood or otherwise." I pointed my wand at him as he raised his to level another attack. "Aveda Kadavra!"

He launched his own killing curse back at me, and both of our spells connected in priori incantatem. Then I saw the Elder Wand break the connection sending my curse straight toward him, and rebounding his curse back in his face.

As both curses collided with Voldemort I looked into his eyes as the light went out of them, and then the scene cut to black with nothing but darkness and his cold high pitched voice. "Now you are just like me, a killer."

"No!" I screamed "I am nothing like you, you fucking piece of shit!"

I looked forward into a mirror that had appeared in front of me. I saw myself holding the Elder Wand and when my reflection spoke it was Voldemort's voice. "Just like me!"

"No!" I screamed as I heard a soft but firm familiar voice in the distance.

"Harry wake up." The voice said, "It's just a dream, your safe now, Voldemort is gone."

I bolted out of bed and grabbed my wand as I saw a blurry figure in front of me with shoulder length shabby dark hair. "It was just another nightmare." Sirius' voice said.

"Accio glasses." I said bringing my glasses to me from behind on the night stand. Sirius came better into focus and I lowered my wand. I could feel the sweat covering me making my pajamas and skin both feel like I had just fallen into the lake at Hogwarts. "I fucking hate him!"

Sirius closed the distance between us and pulled me into a tight hug. "Your safe now." He said softly "Your safe here with me in our new home." He pulled back from the hug still holding onto both of my shoulders. "Now get a shower and get dressed. Breakfast is almost ready and you need to eat something before your first day at school."

"Ok, I'll be down soon." I said as Sirius gave me a fatherly look and let go of me heading out of my room.

As the warm water rushed over me I remembered where we were, and how we got here. The constant barrage of reporters from every newspaper in the magical world, everyone that cared about me constantly asking if I was ok when I fucking wasn't, and Sirius' idea for a fresh start.

I can still remember when he handed me the folder containing everything for our new lives in America a month before my birthday. I closed my eyes and remembered how scared I was, but also how grateful that I was that Sirius had gone to all of this trouble just to help me.

In the folder was a new identity, Harry John Black for me and Simon Ryan Black for Sirius, all of the proper paperwork from MACUSA to allow us to live in America, and the plane tickets to Seattle Washington.

Kingsley Shacklebolt has used his new connections as Minister of Magic to arrange everything with both the British and American magical governments for our new journey. MACUSA was very helpful in giving us copies of their laws as permanent residents in their country, including the waving of the need for a wand permit. I just hoped that the muggles at the local high school would like me.

I was enrolled as a 17 year old junior at Forks High School under my new identity. I had to wear a glamour to hide my scar everywhere but the house that Sirius and I shared, especially in magical communities like the one in Seattle. I detested having to go back to school, but it was necessary to maintain our cover as uncle and nephew resettling in America wanting a fresh start after personal tragedy. We even had all of the proper paperwork with the muggle government to have permanent residency status in the country. The only good thing was that Sirius didn't have to work here in America because he made a "fortune" on the London stock market and was able to retire young and relocate.

I walked downstairs and plopped down into a kitchen chair where Sirius was reading the New York Ghost, the American version of the Daily Prophet. "We've made the back pages." Sirius said as I picked at some eggs and toast. "Harry Potter and Sirius Black still in hiding from the British press in an undisclosed location. 'We just want to be left alone' Mr. Black said outside his residence at Number 12 Grimauld Place. Speculation is that both Potter and Black have left the country, but the British Ministry of Magic refuses to comment further other than to tell reporters to respect their privacy until such time as they return."

"What does the Prophet say?" I asked pushing my plate away from me.

"The same thing, plus some bullshit from Rita Skeeter" Sirius said pushing my plate back to me and looking at me like I was a small child avoiding eating his vegetables. "I slaved over a hot stove all morning, so you're going to eat a few more bites at least. You're losing too much weight and I don't want to have the school calling me asking if everything is ok at home and dealing with the muggle social services just to maintain our cover here."

"Fine" I pouted choking down the rest of my eggs "I guess I should get going." I checked the clock on the wall not wanting to vomit out of nervousness as I saw it was time for me to leave for school. "I'll see you this afternoon."

"Remember to apply your glamour good" Sirius said sipping his coffee "and only use magic unless absolutely necessary. The last thing we want is MACUSA to come knocking on our door and have to answer to them, even though I have it on good authority that unless either of us royally fuck up then the most we will have to do is obliviate some muggles and receive an ass chewing."

I almost forgot that Sirius had high ranking friends at the Seattle MACUSA office that he knew as an exchange student during the first half of his 5th year where he attended Ilvermorny in Massachusetts. I grabbed the piece of toast that he kept tapping the side of my face using a levitation charm.

I apparated near the school in the woods and walked the rest of the way, it was a good thing that Sirius and I had went exploring the town as soon as we arrived so we could have a visualization of where to apparate to. As soon as I reached the school parking lot everyone was gathered around their cars talking, laughing, and reminiscing about their summer. I heard a loud chugging sound making me turn my head in its direction, it was a pale looking brunette girl with long dark brown hair driving an old, I mean old, Chevy pickup. As she chugged into a parking spot all eyes were on her, I was grateful that I didn't have Sirius drive me to school so I could avoid the scene that had all eyes on this girl that I could tell was new to the town as well from how everyone looked at her.

After I got my timetable, schedule as the Americans called it, I was accosted by a cute boy with blonde hair and a playful smirk. "You must be new" he said in an almost cocky but friendly way. "I'm Mike Newton" He extended his hand.

I took his hand and shook it firmly "I'm Harry Black" I said trying not to blush at the surprised look on his face.

"You're the new kid from England" He said with his face returning to his previous expression. My eyes caught his for just a moment and I saw in his thoughts that he was thinking about how I would have no problem getting laid with all of the cute girls.

Not long after the Battle of Hogwarts I had realized that I had the powers of legillimancy whenever I made eye contact with someone. If only he knew that it was really the cute boys like him that I wanted to get laid with, but I don't want to reveal that part of myself just yet. I haven't even told Sirius yet, the only people that know that I'm gay are Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, Luna, and….. Draco….

I quickly caught myself remembering my attraction to Malfoy and moved my face into a neutral but still friendly expression. "Yes" I said looking around the corridor at all of the lockers and the shining tile floor that had students running all over it on their way to their first classes as the first bell was about to ring in the next 5 minutes. I made a mental note of how open, bright, and cheerful that the school looked. It was not old, dreary, and intimidating like Hogwarts. Oh how I missed that old castle.

"Let me see your schedule, I'll point you where to go." Mike said as I held it out to him. "Looks like you have English class with me; in fact we share most of our classes so I guess I'll be your guide today." He chuckled and started walking off toward the nearest classroom. "Mr. Brown won't like us being late even if it is the first day of school. Last year I got detention on the first day of school."

I chuckled and followed him into the classroom thinking of Snape. "I just hope that he is more forgiving that a certain teacher that I knew back at my old school."

I approached Mr. Brown's lectern where he was greeting the class with a warm smile that definitely dispelled any similarities between him and Snape. "Harry Black" he said taking my timetable and signing the form the office had given me. "It is nice to meet you, please take your seat."

"Yes sir" I said putting my timetable back into my backpack and taking my seat next to Mike.

By the time lunch had rolled around I wasn't too hungry, but Sirius' comment from this morning played in my head so I bought an apple, some crisps, and a couple chocolate chip biscuits. "Hey Harry!" Mike Newton called out "Come sit with us"

I walked over to a large circular table near the outer part of the center of the room where Mike was sitting with his friends. When I sat down I immediately noticed the new girl from the old beat up Chevy pickup truck sitting next to Mike and two other girls. "Hi I'm Jessica Stanley" the girl sitting to the new girl's immediate left said extending her hand. I shook her hand and told her my name causing her to blush. "You do have a cute voice, I always liked the sound of when you Brits talked."

I caught her eyes and her thoughts immediately turned to her doing some very explicitly sexual things with me, I put on an expression that would hopefully show her that I was not interested.

I was introduced to the two Asian looking students Angela Weber and Eric Yorkie who I could tell secretly liked each other but were too shy to say anything as I read their thoughts through brief eye contact. Then the new girl's turn came. "My name is Isabella Swan" She said shyly "I prefer Bella though". When I made brief eye contact with her warm hot chocolate looking brown eyes I noticed that I couldn't read her thoughts. I concentrated harder and it felt like I was pushing through a wall and I could hazily make out her thoughts that she hated being the center of attention and that she was from Phoenix Arizona, her mom had married a new man (her father being the local chief of police), and that her mother's new boyfriend was a minor league baseball player that traveled a lot for games, so that was why Bella had decided to move in with her dad and let her mom (who Bella worried about like a parent would over a child) not be tied down and able to travel with her new husband.

When I broke eye contact with her I noticed that she was blushing, I had held it for too long. "Sorry" I said "I have a tendency to toward longer than normal eye contact with people that I first meet"

"It's ok" Bella said smiling clearly not wanting to make me feel weird, I could tell that she always thought of others before herself.

"Be careful Harry or you just might have the new girl falling for you." Mike said playfully causing Bella to turn bright red from all the attention that had now been brought on her.

I saw Jessica eyeing me with lust and I decided then and there: new school, new me, and that involved being honest with myself, and being honest with my new friends. "I don't think Bella has anything to worry about from me" I said smiling "You might though."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Mike asked cocking an eyebrow at me and taking a drink of his soda.

"I'm gay" I said causing Mike to choke on his soda and Jessica to look like I had just hit her with an impediment jinx. "Don't worry though, I can tell that we should just be friends." Mike gave me a quick scared look, but with a brief bit of eye contact and legillimancy I could tell that he was fine with it and still wanted to be my friend, as long and I kept my hands off of his ass.

As the conversation at the table moved onto other topics I took a drink of my iced tea and saw the most beautiful group of people that I ever saw in my life, and if I didn't know any better I would have thought they were veelas if not for their deathly pale skin. "Who are they?" Bella asked as they walked by with their trays and say at the table next to the back wall.

"The Cullens" Jessica said swallowing a bite of her pizza "but I would stay clear of them if I were you."

"Why?" Bella asked confused looking over at them.

"They are kind of weird" Jessica continued "It's like they are together if you know what I mean."

"Jessica they are all adopted." Angela said

"I know" Jessica said taking a drink of her tea "but it's kind of like Dr. and Mrs. Cullen are some kind of match makers, oh I wish they would adopt me!" She closed her eyes and smiled, I had a feeling that she was thinking about more lustful thoughts.

"They seem harmless" Bella said

"They mostly keep to themselves though" Jessica continued opening her eyes, I was beginning to get the impression that she was the one who knew all of the school's gossip and loved telling what she knew to anyone who would listen as she continued. "The tall muscular one is Emmett, he's with blondie over there who looks like she runs the place. The small pixie looking one with short brown hair is Alice, she's with Jasper. Alice is the friendliest, but Jasper always has this look on his face like he wants to eat everyone." She shivered and made a face.

"What about him?" Bella asked pointing to the one Cullen sibling that Jessica still hadn't named.

"That is Edward" Mike said, "and I wouldn't try my luck with him if I were you."

"Why is that?" Bella asked quizzically

"He's not interested in any of the girls here at school" Mike said finishing his soda "Although Harry might have a chance with him."

Angela smacked him on the chest "Be nice." She said sharply

"Ow" Mike said rubbing his chest "That hurt, all I'm saying is that since he has had no interest in any of the girls since they came here freshman year then he might swing that way."

I laughed and looked over at Edward Cullen "I might try my luck then."

Just then Edward Cullen looked over at me and our eyes met across the room. It was like I felt something pulling me toward him, something like a rope or a summoning charm. His eyes were a dark charcoal and went wide as my emerald ones met them. When he broke the eye contact I noticed that I hadn't even tried my legillimancy on him and that I actually wanted to get to know what he was thinking by going over and talking with him. I wanted for some weird reason to be with him and never leave his side.

"Uh oh!" Mike said across from me with a grin "Harry's got a crush!"

It was at that moment that I noticed that my heart was trying to pound its way out of my chest and that my face was hot from blushing. "Um… so… um… what's this I hear about sports tryouts." I said quickly changing the subject

"You don't look much like an athlete." Bella said with a soft look on her face

"I actually played sports quite a bit at my old school." I said pushing my tray away toward Mike who was looking at the biscuits on my tray just like Jessica was looking at him, although probably for non-food reasons in her case. "I was even captain of one of my school's Quid- Football team. I think that you Americans call it soccer over here. Is there a soccer team?"

"Nope" Mike said with a proud smile "we have real football here!"

"Mike's just gloating that he's the new starting quarterback since the old one graduated last year." Eric said rolling his eyes "Don't mind him"

"You should try out for the team Harry!" Mike said proudly

"Is that the sport where the players wear pads and helmets and tackle each other to re-take possession of the ball so they can run it to the other end of the field to score?" I asked scared that I might be drawn into the barbaric sport by Mike. When he told me yes I immediately remembered all of the times that I had gotten hit with a stray bludger. "I think I'll pass" I said shaking at the memory. "I don't do contact sports."

Mike sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Dammit Black were never gonna set you up with a man at this rate, maybe the swim team then."

"Swim team?" I asked remembering the 2nd Triwizard Tournament challenge in the lake and feeling like I was being attacked by mermaids again. "I think I'll pass, although I think that Bella's idea of a school paper article on speedo padding on the swim team might be something I might consider lending my expertise to researching."

Everyone laughed and we thankfully moved past sports, although I continued to look over at the Cullen's table where Edward would look over at me from time to time when he could tell that no one else was looking. Did he feel what I felt when I looked in his eyes too? Could we be connected somehow?

My thoughts were interrupted by the bell signaling the end of lunch. "What do you have next Harry?" Bella asked as we grabbed our backpacks and headed to dump our trays

"Biology" I said sad that I had let Mike eat my chocolate chip biscuits

As Mike, Bella, and I walked into the classroom Mike left to take his seat leaving Bella and myself to hand our timetables to the teacher, who introduced himself as Mr. Banner. Once Mr. Banner had signed my form for the office I sat in the seat next to Mike Newton and immediately regretted my decision as the only open seat left in the classroom was filled by Bella…. right next to Edward Cullen.

I looked over at Bella and Edward's table cursing in my head that I hadn't noticed he was here or else I would've gladly traded Bella places. As I stole glances amid Mr. Banner's very boring lecture over cell phases or whatever I noticed that Edward was very uncomfortable the whole time, like he was trying not to breathe. He made sure that he was as far away from Bella as humanly possible in fact. Every time I looked over and saw the two of them I could tell by the look on Edward's face that he was in unimaginable pain, and all I wanted to do was yank Bella from her seat and take her place so I could wrap him in my arms and comfort him.

Wait, what? Why did I want to comfort Edward Cullen? Why was I drawn to him like the whole world could burn around us and it wouldn't matter so long as we were both standing side by side. I was so confused, and Mr. Banner didn't help by asking me a question about what the fuck ever boring biology bullshit. "Well Mr. Black?" Mr. Banner asked expectantly while the whole class turned to look at me making me want to disaparate to anywhere that wasn't his class at this moment in time.

"Could you please repeat the question sir?" I asked because I truly hadn't heard his question, and was fairly certain that I didn't know the answer. Where was Hermione when I needed her for fuck sake?

It was then that out of the corner of my eye Edward Cullen stuck his hand up. "Yes Mr. Cullen?" Mr. Banner asked looking away from me. Edward provided the answer to the question that Mr. Banner had asked, although it sounded like at the end that he was completely out of breath. "That is correct Mr. Cullen. You would do well to pay better attention Mr. Black."

"Sorry sir" I said as Mr. Banner went back to his lesson. I stole a glance over at Edward and could see that he was looking at me, but he averted his eyes just in time before I could look into them. Did he just cover for me? The look on his face said that he may have, but what freaked me out the most was that it looked like he was still holding his breath for some reason. What the fuck is with this guy?

The bell rang at that moment snapping me out of my thoughts and I turned to go thank Edward for saving my ass with Mr. Banner, but before I could he walked past me and out of the door almost like he was barely moving at human speed. That's weird I thought, I guess he really wants to get to his next class.

My last class of the day was gym, with Bella. We were playing a sport the teacher called volleyball where there were two teams with a net in the middle of the two teams, and the point was to hit the ball over the net in a way where the opposing team couldn't deflect the ball back across the net without it hitting the floor giving the striking team a point. I was having such a fun time with it, although I would be having a better time if Bella wasn't on my team. I wanted to win so badly, but she just kept tripping over her own feet.

I finally accepted the fact that Bella was not inclined in any way to sports in general and spent the latter half of the period doing damage control and keeping the ball away from her as much as possible. When we finished class and came out of the locker rooms as the final bell of the day rang Bella caught me at the door. "Thanks for saving me during class" she said bashfully clearly feeling like she was a burden on me the whole class.

"Don't worry about it" I said warmly "I love sports, but I can tell that sports are not your thing. That's fine, you don't have to beat yourself over not being good at something that is not your thing."

As we left the gym and came to the parking lot I said goodbye and went to walk off to the apparation point that I set myself to go back home and Bella grabbed my arm stopping me. "You don't drive?" she asked

"No" I said, "It's not that far to walk to my house."

"Where do you live?" She asked. I told her and her eyes grew wide. "That's up the block and behind from my house, I'm giving you a ride home."

"You don't have to do that" I said not wanting to impose on her since I already had a way home if she would just let me do what I had planned to do already. "I don't want to impose."

"Well you're not" she said with a determined look on her face. "Like I said, it's on the way to my house and I really don't mind."

"Ok" I said not wanting to argue any further. I could already tell that I liked Bella, she reminded me a lot of Hermione, although Hermione could've played better volleyball.

"What's so funny?" Bell asked as I climbed into the passenger side of her ancient truck.

"Nothing" I said placing my backpack between us on the bench seat. "You just remind me of one of my best friends at my old school that was very stubborn."

The whole way to my house Bella and I talked about school and being the new kids. She asked questions about Hogwarts, which I called Harleton. Harleton was the name that was used in place of Hogwarts if anything concerning Muggles came up. I answered as many questions as I could without letting her know that it taught magic, but I mostly deflected to her old school in Phoenix Arizona. She was not happy about talking about herself, I could tell, but I made it clear that we had a mutual dislike of talking about ourselves.

I never wanted the fame that came with being Harry Potter. I was content to just be a normal wizard once I learned about my magic, but then again life isn't all sunshine and rainbows is it?

When Bella dropped me off at my house Sirius was sitting on the front porch drinking a beer. "What's her name?" he asked giving me a sly smile and a wink.

"Bella Swan" I said sitting next to him on the porch swing. "She's just friends though so don't get excited."

"Oh I remember when I was your age." Sirius said smiling and finishing his beer. "Those were the best girls to move things along with."

I decided in that moment that my new school, new Harry plan had to continue. I let out a sigh and turned to look at Sirius afraid of what might come next. "I have something very important to tell you." I said looking at him afraid that he would disown me as soon as I let him know that I was gay.

He looked at me quizzically. "You know that I will always love you don't you Harry?" he said in a soft voice.

"Yeah well you might want to chuck me out after I tell you." I said trying my hardest to keep my voice steady.

"I would never do that." He said in his most fatherly tone

"I'm gay." I said as tears fell freely from my face

I felt Sirius wrap me into a warm hug. "Never be afraid to be who you truly are." He said softly "If I'm being honest I've had my suspicions for quite a while, but I knew that if they were true then you would tell me so. Harry your like a son to me, hell you are my son now. Don't ever think that you have to be alone and shoulder the burdens that you are under by yourself. No matter how small you think it is talk to me, let me in, I'll listen. I won't judge you."

"No matter what?" I asked wiping my tears on my sleeve.

"No matter what" He said, then he changed his tone of voice and facial expression to the same one he had when he asked me if I was interested in Bella "So tell me about the boys then."

"Well there's one." I said happily picturing his face his face in my head. "His name is Edward Cullen."
