"Y'know Fred, you didn't have to buy me food." It was nighttime in San Fransokyo, and Megan got a ride with the comic fan after he brought her along with the gang to get some takeout pizza from a place she could not remember but had a robot mascot.

"Well, you had a rough week with the whole Hardlight incident so I thought pizza would cheer you up!" He replied, they had gotten the food and were now heading back to Fred's house. "Plus you seemed tense at truth or dare."

Megan blushed a little at the memory. "Don't remind me." It was her turn and she stupidly picked truth, and Honey Lemon asked if she was crushing on anyone. That cued the longest minute of her life trying to stammer an answer until Fred said the pizza was ready to pick up and she volunteered to tag along.

"Are you seeing anyone by any chance?" Fred raised an eyebrow, the blush got even redder. "Don't worry, I won't tell Honey Lemon."

She relaxed a little. "Y-Yes, but we're keeping it secret for a reason."

He nodded. "Are you both happy?"

"Yes."

"Do you both communicate well?"

"We're trying our best."

"Are they kind to you?"

"Definitely."

Fred then flashed her a comforting smile. "Then I'm very happy for you two, and if either of you are ready to tell more people, then I'll make sure to be super supportive."

"Thanks Fred." Megan smiled back. "That means a lot."

He was about to reply something back but Heathcliff cut him off. "Master Frederick, we are stopping by Richardson's Rare Comics as you wanted to pick up the latest Captain Fancy comic."

"Oh, right, thanks Heathcliff!"

"You're welcome."

Fred turned back to Megan. "Mind guarding the pizza for a bit?"

"Sure." She was glad he didn't ask for her to tag along, considering the last time she saw Richardson, he had stolen one of Fred's collection items and had zero remorse about it.

Sure enough, it didn't take long for Fred to come back with the comic, an angry look on his face. "Stupid Richardson, thinks he's soooo much cooler than me because I buy stuff from his store." He mumbled.

"Did he say anything?"

"Not much, I just tried ignoring him." Fred shrugged. "Let's just go back before the pizza gets cold."

"What's wrong with that?" Megan raised an eyebrow.

He gaped. "I can't believe you just said that."

The reporter just snickered at his reaction as the car drove off, unaware of the dark presence as it passed by Richardson's store.

A few hours after the car left, two figures emerged from the shadows. "You're telling me it's in there?" One pointed to the store.

"Duh, I did my research on what happens around here, so I was fully prepared for my debut!" The other with a more robotic voice nodded their head. "I'm not sure where exactly it is."

"I think I can figure it out on my own." They scoffed. "Keep guard for me, will you?"

"That's boring but fine."

The figure emerged from the shadows, tugging locks of their blonde hair behind their ear as they lockpick the door of the store open. It was quiet, except for the sound of arcade machines. "Hm." They walked around the store, trying to locate the source until coming to an old phone booth. "So that's the entrance…"

They managed to find the way in and sneak in, and notice the store owner, Richardson charging up one of his machines with the item of interest, none other than High Voltage's prized energy orb.

"Ha! Boy I'm glad to have this thing, I haven't had to pay the electric bill in months!" He bragged. "I'm keeping this forever!"

Or so you think. They smirked, hiding behind an arcade machine until Richardson finished charging his machine, putting the orb back, and going up to close the shop. As they were alone, the figure recalled it required Richardson's fingerprint to access the container, luckily there were obvious signs of his grease-stained fingers using the arcade machines so that was one obstacle down.

"Hello me." The door security said as it opened, revealing High Voltage's orb.

"Hello indeed." They adjusted their gloves as they picked up the orb, immediately small shocks went down their arms, but their insulation prevented it from doing any damage. "I got the orb, you can come get me now."

"Got it, nothing's happening here except some kid in skates trying to imitate Sonic the Hedgehog." The comms buzzed, and just as they finished, their co-worker appeared. "Now let's get out of here so we can get to the fun part!"

An orange eye gleamed. "And fun it will be."

Ferns and Nerds group chat:

Mikan Ferns: Y'all

Fredzilla: Hi Mikan

Mikan Ferns: I go look out the window

Mikan Ferns: AND I SEE THIS

Mikan Ferns: what,jpeg

Hiro Hamada: *groan* Hardlight's back already?

Sara Ferns: ikr, this is Sparkles level of annoying

Rachel Rosemary: Unless he's going to kidnap my cat, I doubt it

TheLittleMermaid: He did kidnap Chief Cruz

Hiro Hamada: Exactly!

TheLittleMermaid: Better be careful Hiro since you're basically a damsel in distress at this point

Hiro Hamada: WOW RUDE

Rachel Rosemary: I don't remember you being like this and it scares me

Gogo: Hiro I think you're a bad influence on your sister

Hiro Hamada:

Hiro Hamada: I regret so many life choices rn

Sienna Kline: So any theories why Hardlight has the gamer shtick?

Mikan Ferns: not a lot of gamer themed villains so ig he's trying to stand out?

David Ferns: I asked my mum and she said "because newbie villains try being modern and hip to make themselves look cool"

Fredzilla: Is she saying this from experience or…?

Wasabi: Now I have the mental image of Momakase, as a new villain, fully decked out with 70s aesthetic

Sara Ferns: omg I breATHED

Mikan Ferns: Roger

Mikan Ferns: WHY

By the time Big Hero 6 arrived, the streets were empty except the dog-like creatures that Hardlight created, but there was no sign of the gamer villain. "At least these aren't the worst mobs." Hiro explained to the others. "Just watch out for their teeth."

Wasabi paled. "And you said they weren't the worst?!"

"Just trust me on this- woah look out!" One of the dog creatures leapt at the gang, barking loudly, but not as loud as the shriek attack from the stubby armed creatures.

Fred blasted it with fire and it dissipated. "Huh, that was easy." That's when two smaller dogs formed where he incinerated the first one. "Oh, shoot."

The two small dog creatures turned at Fred and leapt, biting both of his ankles. "OW!"

Wasabi turned to Hiro and pointed. "You were saying?"

"In my defense I forgot they did that, they're low-level mobs in the tutorial section of Mind Smith." Hiro shrugged. "Just gotta keep hacking them down."

The physics major readied his plasma blades. "Easier said than done." He charged at the small dogs attacking Fred and began his barrage of blade attacks, which kept splitting the dogs in half until they vanished completely.

"Thanks Chop Chop." The comic fan sighed with relief. "That actually hurt, like a lot!"

Honey Lemon prepared to blast one of the dog creatures with her bazooka, but hesitated. "Oh, I don't think I can hurt a puppy."

Then the dog creature opened its mouth, revealing rows and rows of sharp teeth, she screamed and began blasting away. "Not so cute anymore." Gogo commented, as Honey Lemon began blasting the rest of the dog creatures.

One of the split copies moved out of the barrage and tried going after Hiro, but one strike from her disk destroyed it. "Well that was easy. Now all we gotta do is find Hardlight and-"

"I detect Hardlight over there." Baymax pointed and from down the street, they saw the gamer villain flying away on his hover disk. "I also detect police vehicles heading this way."

"Oh, great."

Honey Lemon patted her shoulder. "Maybe they've got a plan for him this time! Let's wait for them to catch up and we can work together like last time!"

As she said that, the police cars appeared and began driving down the street…

And drove the opposite of the direction Hardlight went.

They all blinked. "Did they not see him that way?!" Hiro exclaimed. "Where are they going?! There can't be two supervillain attacks at the same time or Basemax would've told us by now."

"It appears they are driving to the Ferns household." Baymax answered.

The others grimace. "Oh no, that can't be good…" Wasabi paled.

"I wonder if it has to do with Momakase?." Fred guessed.

Honey Lemon disagreed. "No way! Maybe it's something else, we better follow them."

"Just what I was going to suggest, but we better be careful." Hiro nodded his head. "If Chief Cruz is with them, it'd be bad for us."

Once they changed back into civilian attire, the gang walked down the road to where the police cars were outside the Ferns household. To their surprise, they weren't the only ones there. "Why is Richardson with the police?" Fred stuck his tongue out.

"I don't want to know." Gogo recoiled, hoping the boy wouldn't notice them spying on the police.

"Well, we're about to find out." Hiro shushed them as Diego knocked on the door.

Sally was the one who answered. "Can I help you?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Are both members of High Voltage home right now?" Diego demanded.

She glared. "First of all, they're not supervillains anymore, call them by their actual names."

"Hmph, funny you say they're not villains, since-"

Richardson cut the police chief off. "Those criminals broke into my store and stole my energy orb!"

Hiro's eyes widened. "No way I'm believing Richardson on that!" Fred exclaimed.

"I dunno Fred, they did want their orb back." Gogo pointed out.

The robotics genius glared at her. "Hey! Neither of them wanna do crime anymore, no way they'd resort to stealing it back!"

"Calm down, it was just a theory." She might still be wary of the former crime-dancers, but from what Hiro was saying, they clearly wanted nothing to do with that life anymore. "Speculating isn't going to help though."

Hiro nodded. "Right, I'm gonna go see what's going on." He got up and walked to where Richardson was still yelling at Sally.

"Look, I don't know where you got the idea that Barb and Juniper took their energy orb, which you technically stole from them-" She glared at Richardson. "But they've been in the house all day."

"How do we know you're not covering for your friend?" Diego questioned.

"Ex-"

"Hi Professor Ferns!" Hiro walked up to her, ignoring the police chief. "What's going on?"

As Diego noticed Hiro's presence, some of the anger on his face faded. "Hiro, this is a police investigation."

"What happened?" He raised an eyebrow.

Richardson interrupted again. "Oh, it's you, I bet you helped your little girlfriend steal back her orb, didn't you?"

Hiro blinked, several times. "There is so much wrong in that sentence I can't even begin to start."

Sally pinched the bridge of her nose. "What's going on?" Steven poked his head out of the door, flinching when he noticed the police. "Sally?"

"Apparently someone took Barb's energy orb and they're using it as an excuse to arrest her and Juniper." She explained, glaring at Diego. "Without proof."

"I-I have evidence!" Richardson protested. "They tried taking once and one of them, plus him-" he jabbed a finger at Hiro. "Tried pressuring me to give it, and she tried attacking me!"

"You insulted her mom, you're lucky I held her back that time." Hiro scoffed, but then he shook his head, turning back to Diego. "Professor Ferns is right, you can't arrest either of them without solid proof, not just what Richardson says."

"He's got a point!" Detective Kato added. "We should've investigated it first chief, it's protocol."

Diego looked as if he swallowed a lemon. "You have a point, but I'm gonna keep an eye on those villains." He sneered.

"Right back at you, buckeroo." Sally glared daggers, but then smiled at Hiro. "You should probably come back another time."

Hiro nodded. "Right." At least he was able to stand up for his friend a little, and walked back to the others.

"Hiro." Baymax greeted him. "What did Professor Ferns and Chief Cruz say?"

"Well, according to Sally, they weren't anywhere near the robbery, Diego thinks she's just covering for them because of her friendship with Barb." He explained. "Richardson I think is still mad about his comic store getting wrecked."

"Not surprised Mole is." Fred grumbled. "That kid can hold a grudge!"

"Professor Ferns wouldn't cover for a robbery." Wasabi pointed out. "She doesn't seem like the type of person to enable that kind of stuff."

Honey Lemon nodded. "Yeah, there's no way Barb or Juniper would steal the orb." Then she recalled something. "Hiro, didn't Juniper try to get it back legally by asking Richardson?"

"Yeah…" He winced at the memory of that. "It didn't go well when he insulted Barb."

The chemist winced, yeah, if someone insulted her mom, she'd be really mad, and Honey Lemon didn't like to get mad. "So that must be why he thinks they're responsible!"
"But they're not." Gogo argued. "But not as if Chief Cruz will believe us." She wouldn't put it past the chief of police to claim they were covering for Sally's sake since she was their physics professor.

Hiro deflated. "Right…"

"So we're going to do some investigating!" Honey Lemon exclaimed. "Remember what Detective Kato said? They've still got to look for clues."

"Right, we better head back to base to talk about this more." Wasabi pointed out.

They nodded. Hiro felt a sense of determination to really find out who stole High Voltage's energy orb, and prove his friend's innocence.

Meanwhile in the Ferns household…

Sara squinted her eyes at the police vehicle across the street. "Is the police still there?"

"Yep." Her uncle replied. "I think it's just the chief, he seems to have some sort of… problem with anything super related."

Mikan recalled a news interview awhile ago where Chief Cruz had got into a fit of rage when Bluff Dunder mentioned letting Big Hero 6 handle Hardlight, causing the news reporter to have a "yeesh" look and end said interview rather quickly. "You can say that again."

"This is the worst!" Juniper dramatically exclaimed. "I've been on my best behavior for the past few weeks, but when a mysterious robbery happens ohhh noo it's obviously the people who gave up crime and are trying to make better lives for themselves."

"Your sarcasm is getting better." Mikan quipped.

"Thanks, I've been working on it."

David, who had been oddly quiet, tilted his head up. "Is lunch ready yet?"

"No, David, it's not." Momakase replied. "Didn't you have breakfast about an hour ago?"

"Yeah and I'm so hungry! I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza, or a sandwich the size of Jackie!"

Said rabbit squealed loudly in fear. "David, I'm never leaving you alone with Jackie." Juniper scooped him up and gently patted his head, trying to comfort him.

"I meant as a metaphor-"

The detective in the kitchen casually sipped his tea. "Well, I wouldn't eat rabbit if I were you." Elio shook his head. "I had that once at a party and it did not last long in my digestive system." Due to the chief of police's… suspicions, he had one of his officers in the household to "keep an eye" on everyone, but instead Elio was enjoying a nice cup of tea, thank you very much.

"People actually eat rabbits?!"

Mikan sighed. "Buddy, I got news for you."

"Mikan, knock it off and stop messing with my daughter." Barb glared at her.

"Sorry!"

Sally shook her head. "Well, I don't think that car's going anytime soon."

"Knowing my boss, won't be until we find out who did the robbery." Elio took another sip of his tea. "This is great, my compliments to the chef."

"Why thank you." Momakase smirked. At least something good came out of this odd situation, it was nice playing hostess to their "guest" of honor.

Back at the Big Hero 6 HQ, the gang were using the new conference room to discuss their plan of action. "We need to find out who stole High Voltage's energy orb before the police come up with some wacky conclusion and arrest the wrong person." Hiro stated. "Basemax, do you have any leads?"

"According to my database, the energy orb was reported missing at 11:30 PM." Basemax stated. "During that time period, I detected movement from an unknown entity."

"Huh, y'know I was around the area picking up a comic." Fred realized, turning to the others. "I might've taken a detour on the way back from picking up pizza from the Pizza Party-torium."

Wasabi shook his head. "Why am I not surprised?"

"Hold on, earlier this morning we just fought Hardlight's minions." Gogo pointed out. "And we don't have enough info on him in our database."

Honey Lemon suspected what her girlfriend was trying to say. "So you think they're connected?"

"Perhaps , Fred, is there any comic book logic on this?"

The comic fan beamed. "I've been waiting for you to ask, in the latest Captain Fany comic-" He slammed the comic book down. "There's a case where reformed villain-duo The Danger Duo are suspected to be stealing again! Captain Fancy investigates and finds out it was the work of Grapplelock framing them so he could get away with his dastardly crime-"

"Wait, isn't Grappleloct a Pokemon?" Hiro questioned.

"It's pronounced Grapplelock."

Wasabi shook his head. "So what you're saying is that Hardlight stole the orb, and he's framing High Voltage?"

"Exactly!" Fred exclaimed. "He's definitely someone who's lived in the city, so he knows how powerful that orb can be!"

"But it's also got a security system, he'll get zapped if he's not registered as a user." Hiro pointed out.

"Well, perhaps Hardlight is not only a gamer, but a hacker." The comic fan concluded. "So we gotta find him before he cracks the code and harnesses that orb's power!"

"Find clues first, find Hardlight later." Gogo argued. "We don't know if it's him, there's a chance it could be someone else."

He deflated. "Good point…"

"Can you explain what happened?"

Mikan sighed. "Shouldn't Hiro have told you?"

Gogo shrugged. "Wanted to hear it from your side." While the others split up, Gogo was tasked with questioning the residents of the Ferns house for answers. She didn't mind since Hiro was too worked up at the moment, and did not want to go with Fred to investigate Richardson's comic book store.

"Y'know it seems weird since you're not in… y'know." Mikan gestured. "Gear?"

Gogo glared at her. "Be a bit louder about that, won't you?"

"What are you two talking about?" David walked up to them.

"Uhhh-" His older sister stammered. "Gogo was just asking about the police car outside."

He nodded. "Yeah, it's making me uncomfortable."

She looked over to the car. "It does?"

"Yeah, it's making everyone else uncomfortable, and that makes me uncomfortable!" David explained. "I don't like it when my family is upset and there's not much I can do about it!"

"I feel that." But she didn't come over to just talk with her classmates. "Hiro told me a little about what happened, and I wanted to ask some questions, he really wants to find out what's going on."

Mikan and David both looked optimistic. "Well, if anyone can solve a good mystery, it's Hiro."

Gogo walked in and instantly noticed the detective in the kitchen. "Detective Rosemary?"

"That's me." He sipped his tea. "I'm just here on watch, not as a detective."

She frowned. Guess that shows Chief Cruz already thinks his conclusion is the right one if he's not gonna even have his best detective investigate. "I'm just here to ask questions."

"I didn't even do anything-"

"Not you." She pointed to Juniper, who was glaring from the other room. "Unless you have any ideas who stole the energy orb."

The blonde pondered for a moment, then shook her head. "I don't really have the faintest idea, I'm not sure why anyone, that jerk kid aside, would steal our orb."

"Well, it was a pretty good weapon kiddo." Elio told her. "Strong enough to stun the force and give Big Hero 6 a run for their money, and a supervillain looking for a power up would want their grubby hands on it!"

Her eyes dawned in realization. "Ohhhh, I hadn't thought about that."

"Ooh, I have an idea now!" Mikan raised her hand. "It was Hardlight!"

Everyone except Gogo shot her weird looks. "No think about it, his minions were invading the street awhile ago, I bet he'd love to add an electric zappy weapon to his collection!"

"Please never call my mama's orb an 'electric zappy weapon' ever again." Juniper groaned.

"But it's funny!"

The engineer frowned. "Well, even if that's true, we'd need proof for that."

"I think I have some evidence for you." Momakase walked to the kitchen table, refilling the detective's cup of tea.

David blinked. "You do?"

"Yes, last night I was doing some meal preparation, and some activity outside caught my attention." She explained. "I suspected it was this one's robot siblings-" The chef gestured to Mikan. "Since it was someone causing sparks."

"Did you get a good look at them?" Gogo questioned.

Momakase shook her head. "Sadly no, but now I believe they had the energy orb, as the sparks were the same color."

And Basemax said that she found unusual activity late at night, it must've been Hardlight after he stole the orb! "Well thanks, that helps."

"Would've been nice if you said that earlier, but I probably wouldn't have been able to enjoy this tea very well." Elio took another sip. "Mmmm, I bet the last person who had this brand was a very happy customer."

A devious smirk appeared on the chef's face. "Well, that last person was Alistair Krei, he had the same reaction before I poisoned him and stole his anti-gravity device."

There was an awkward silence, and the detective just awkwardly sipped his tea.

"Why must you joke about your evil deeds?" David facepalmed.

"And on that note, I'm out." Gogo walked out of the house.

As Gogo met up with Fred on the corner of Richardson's Rare Comics in their superhero gear, she noticed a tired expression upon his face. "You good?"

"Nope." He slouched his shoulders.

"What did Richardson say?"

Fred tapped his claws. "Well, he kept trying to insulate that High Voltage was the ones who broke in because their orb is the only thing connecting them to the crime, but I did find this." Fred held out a strand of hair.

Gogo's eyes widened as she noticed the strand was a blonde color. "Don't both of them have blonde hair?"

"Well yes, but this is a more dirty-blonde color than golden-blonde." Fred explained. "I wish Baymax was here so he can scan this and confirm though."

"We have Basemax though." Gogo pointed out. "Let's head back and-"

Crash! The sound of explosions cut her off. "What was that?!"

"It's Hardlight!" Fred pointed in the direction of the sounds, which was through an alleyway. "Let's get him!"

They both ran in the direction of the sound. The alleyway where Fred heard the crash had a bit of damage, as the same dog minions as earlier had torn chunks of the wall and broken several trash cans. "Ow! Quit it you mutts!" And to their surprise, Kat was being chased by the dog creatures.

"Fire breath!" Fred roared, blasting the dogs chasing them away. "Kat, why is Hardlight attacking you?"

Kat shrugged. "I have no idea."

"I can give you an idea!" The heroes looked up as Hardlight descended from the sky, standing atop his hover disk. "You've got a bounty on your head, kitty cat! And I've come to collect it!"

"Dangit Indigo." Kat cursed. "You sent the weird gamer villain after me?" They then shrugged it off. "Why am I not surprised?"

"Hey!" Hardlight cried in offense.

Gogo tossed her disk up, forming her own hover disk. "Yeah, you're not touching a hair on our buddy's head." She shot up, crashing into Hardlight. He summoned his sword and stabbed it into the side of the alley wall to cease his falling. As Gogo tried crashing into him again, his shard attack knocked her off.

"Speed Queen!" Fred leapt and caught her.

But then one of the dogs jumped up and bit his rear. "AAAAaaaaa get it off get it off!" He screamed as he jumped around trying to shake it off of him. He tried leaping up but then crashed into a ladder. "Owww!" His head went back and he was out cold.

Kat, who watched the scene, facepalmed. "And there goes all my respect for you, Flamey-o." They then turned to Hardlight, unsheathing their carbyne claws. "Your force-field junk can't cut me down!" They exclaimed as they cut through a shard attack like butter.

Hardlight scoffed. "We'll see who's the better player!" He jumped from the wall and struck with his sword, Kat caught it with their claws. "Trying to be a copycat?"

"Nah, just taking inspiration." Kat leapt backwards and delivered a headshot kick. Hardlight groaned in pain, snapping his fingers to get the dog creatures after Kat.

They growled as the teeth started wearing down on their claws, but Gogo came to their rescue. "Hold on!" She picked Kat up with her hover disk and slammed down on the dog minions.

Kat chuckled at the sight. "Ha! Take that, cats rule and dogs drool!" They batted the dogs away until there were none left.

Having seen his dog creatures defeated for a second time, Hardlight shook his head. "I knew I should've gone with a different mob for this battle."

"You're still making no sense." Gogo deadpanned.

At that moment, Fred drifted back into consciousness, rubbing his head. "You were trying to distract Kat, weren't you?!" He exclaimed. "Because you're working with the Galaxian Pirates!"

Both Kat and Gogo gawked at Fred. "Either you're using your one brain cell or that knockout is messing with your mind or something." Kat stated. "No way that a jokester like him would ever team up with those-"

"Big Hero 6 solving the mystery, just as I figured!" Hardlight's statement shocked them. "This bad boy has decided to no longer fly solo, I've joined up with a faction to take you down!"

"B-B-but you can't!" Kat stammered. "They're not just doing stuff to get rid of Big Hero 6, that's the least of your problems!"

"Don't even try to persuade me, your charm isn't that high-leveled." He ignored them. "By the way, did you ever figure out a certain shocker of a mystery?"

The pun dawned on Gogo. "I knew it, you stole High Voltage's energy orb!"

"What did you do with it?!" Fred demanded.

"Ah, you only got half of the answers." Hardlight jumped on his hover disk as the comic fan charged. "Hope the rest of your squad figured it out, otherwise it's cell time for the dancing has-beens! See you in the final boss fight, Big Heroes!" He cackled as he flew away into the distance.

Kat tsked. "Aw man, for someone who prides himself in playing games, he doesn't realize he's getting played himself." They turned to Gogo and Fred. "Don't know who he is, but no way he'd team up with the pirates if he knew their true nature."

"What did he mean by hoping our team figured out the mystery…?" Fred frowned. "We know he stole the orb-"

"But we can't prove it!" Gogo realized. "Fred, Mole's crazy insistent that it was Barb and Juniper, what if he fakes evidence so-"

"Diego has an actual reason to arrest them!" Fred paled. "Hardlight must've been distracting us, we gotta warn the others asap!"

But by then, it was already too late. Chief Cruz had driven back to the Ferns house, and knocked on the door. "Oh, you again." Sally deadpanned as she let him in. "Did you find anything about who actually stole the orb?"

Diego shot her a glare. "As a matter of fact, I did." That got the attention of everyone in the household.

"Who did it then?" Steven raised an eyebrow.

The police chief observed the room, then pointed. "Them." He gestured to Barb and Juniper. "High Voltage, you're under arrest."

Both of them paled in horror. "Woah, woah, woah!" Mikan jumped in front of Diego before he could take another step. "What the heck kind of evidence do you have? They didn't do it!"

"Then explain this." Diego held something in his hands, none other than one of their electric gauntlets. "Richardson Mole found this at the scene of the crime, and nobody else in this city except those two have these!"

"For your information officer, that was from the last time we broke into that comic store." Barb glared at him. "Our gauntlets were taken off before we were driven back to prison. That one you've got there? It was there awhile."

Diego scoffed. "A likely story. You're coming with me."

"Like heck they won't! You don't have proper evidence!" Sally protested.

"Keep interrupting and I'll charge you with Resisting Arrest-"

As the police chief's attention turned away from the former crime-dancers, Juniper felt panic rise in. Oh no oh no. Sally and Steven can argue all they want but he hates me! He's not going to leave until we're in handcuffs, what do I do?! I wish Hiro was here so he could tell him off-

The robotics genius wasn't here, but she could call him for help. Not wanting to grab Diego's attention, she began texting Hiro.

June: OMG HIRO HALP

June: EMERGENCY, EMERGENCY!

Hiro: whats going on?!

Ari: ARE YOU OKAY?!

Oops, accidentally typed that on the group chat. She sweatdropped. I really hope Megan isn't on…

June: Mole gave Chief Cruz one of our electrical gauntlets that he kept

June: Now he's using it as evidence we stole the orb and is ABOUT to arrest us

June: WHAT DO I DO I DONT WANNA GO BACK TO JAIL

Meg: Omg im gonna kill my dad if he arrests you

Thanks universe, you're really doing me a favor today. Juniper sweatdropped, she hoped that didn't ruin her girlfriend's relationship with her dad.

Rach: Well let's see

Rach: If he's not listening to reason rn…

Rach: I'll text my dad to come over

Hiro: Wait, isn't he there?!

Speaking of the devil, Elio got up from the kitchen. "Uh, chief? Ms. Reynolds was telling the truth." He spoke up. "Kato texted me that they did confiscate their gauntlets, except a pair that Richardson kept. Wouldn't he have told you earlier if there was actual evidence-"

"And do you have actual proof that's what actually happened?" Diego glared. "Last I checked, Detective Kato wasn't there when they had been re-arrested."

Elio sweatdropped. "Well you see-"

June: He's not listening to Detective Rosemary either

Ari: What were you doing last night anyways?

June: Sleeping?

Hiro: We had a long phone call though

Hiro: !

Rach: ?

Hiro: What time did Chief Cruz say the robbery was?

June: Uh 11:30 pm, why?

Hiro: How long was that phone call?

Juniper then got what Hiro was trying to say.

June: It was like 45 minutes!

June: Hiro you're a genius!

Hiro: I know

Ari: June why he's gonna brag

Meg: omg brilliant. You cant commit the crime if you were calling Hiro!

Meg: Show him your phone history.

June: ok fingers crossed

"You can't do that!" Steven's shout brought her back to reality. "At least give them community service, don't lock them up again! That's horrible and inhumane!"

"Tell it to the judge." Diego ignored his protests. "I'll be-"

"Objection!" Juniper cut him off. "I have proof that your 'evidence' is false and I was not at the scene of the crime!"

She was going to ignore her siblings snickering in the background for the unintentional detective game reference. Traitors… "Oh? And what proof do you have of this?" He raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing her.

Juniper pointed to her phone history. "This was around the time you said the crime was, right?" It showed the very long phone call she had with Hiro about engineering for a school assignment of his.

"Correct."

"And if you look here, this shows that I was at the Ferns household for the entire phone call." She pointed to the call details. "You can ask Hiro to collaborate. But this shows I didn't do the crime."

"Maybe not you, but your mother has no alibi either." Diego frowned. Still determined to incarcerate at least one of them.

Juniper paled, she hadn't thought about that, looking at her mama in horror. Barb seemed resigned to her fate, but was at least relieved her daughter wouldn't have her new life taken away from her.

"Actually…" But their savior had been in the form of Momakase. "I had a rather nice chat with Barbara several minutes before the crime, and you can see this one-" She pointed to Sara. "Witnessed that while filming for a video."

"It's true, my camera still has some of that conversation audio." Sara nodded. She had been trying to do some tricks with a couple board games in the living room, it was going to have music dubbed over it so she didn't mind that her camera picked up their conversation.

"Barbara and her daughter were good thieves, I'll admit, but it's difficult to commit a crime in less than ten minutes if it's around half an hour away from here." She smirked. "So you have no reason to arrest either of them."

Juniper felt pride seeing Diego's face turn red as he realized she was right. "Oooh, she's got you there, chief." Elio clapped. "Now, if you're going to continue harassing these poor people until you get charged with emotional damages, may we please try and find the actual culprit?"

The laughter of the household as Diego mumbled apologies while retreating was music to Juniper's ears.

Teen Dorks Squad group chat:

June: Yeah, I'm gonna tell my mama. Brb

Rach: I'm also gonna go, I need a NAP after all that drama

Meg: Can I come over to the cafe? I rly don't wanna be home rn

Hiro: Ye!

Ari: Don't ask for donuts. We're out of them

Hiro: We had like a dozen still left?

Ari: I said we're out of donuts

Hiro: oh. Right.

Rach: I'm confused.

Hiro: We're out of donuts, we inherited stress-eating from our aunt.

Hiro couldn't stay at the cafe long enough for Megan to arrive, as he got a call from Gogo. "We're tracking down Hardlight, meet us at the base." So he and Baymax flew over.

As soon as they entered the conference room, Fred bounced over. "Oh thank goodness you're here! We found out that Hardlight's working for the Galaxian Pirates!"

He gasped. "No." It was bad enough they had a new villain to deal with, but one working with their biggest threat right now? That led to nothing but bad times for him and the gang.

"Yeah, even worse, he set up the robbery to try and arrest High Voltage!"

"And he tried attacking Kat." Gogo gestured to the masked superhero sitting next to them. "We brought them with us in case he tried again."

Kat waved to Hiro. "Hi Captain! Nice secret base you got."

"Thanks." He smiled a little. "But make sure it keeps being secret, capiche?"

They nodded. "Yeah."

"By the time we got to the Ferns household, Cruz already failed in trying to arrest them again." Gogo explained. "Apparently, Mole-"

"Faked evidence by using their electric gauntlets?" They all looked at Hiro. "Yeah uh, June messaged me because she was freaking out about almost getting arrested, I remembered last night I called her for help in one of Professor Ferns' homework assignments, and luckily it was around the time of the robbery."

They all sighed with relief. "Good thing you told her that, he wasn't even going to let them be bailed out." Wasabi exhaled. He hadn't interacted with either of High Voltage since they reformed, but his partner was very close to them now, it'd damage her greatly if they got framed and arrested.

"Basemax is trying to find Hardlight." Honey Lemon pointed to the wall. Where Basemax was working her hardest trying to find the gamer villain.

"If he has the orb, try finding its electric charge." Hiro suggested.

Basemax paused from her search. "I do not have any data on the electrical properties of High Voltage's energy orb."

"I have scanned its properties into my database." Baymax told her. "I shall send the information to you."

There was a brief moment of silence as the 'maxes exchanged data. "Database updated: I now have located Hardlight at the edge of the city." Baymax zoomed in to show that Hardlight was by the road that led into Ridjav Desert.

"Oh great." Kat groaned. "That's where the Galaxian Pirates' new base is."

They all looked at Kat. "And you're telling this now because?" Wasabi crossed his arms.

"I was waiting for my sister, she's good at hacking their systems." Kat glared back.

"What does that have to do with-"

"Can we go stop gamer guy before he decides to try and create a desert tornado or something?"

They all got out of their seats. "Right. We can talk about that later." Hiro nodded. "Let's stop Hardlight, and hopefully catch him this time." Before anyone else got hurt by his schemes.

The flight to the edge of the city took around half an hour. "I'm glad you're coming with us, Globby!" Hiro waved to the glob monster, who was in his pterodactyl form flying next to them.

"Well I haven't been able to do some good deeds as of late, y'know because of the fugitive part." Globby chuckled. "Might as well get back on that!"

"Good for you." Kat deadpanned. They couldn't fit onto Baymax's back like the rest of the team so Globby was carrying them in one of his talons. They were not amused at all.

Baymax started flying closer to the ground. "We are getting closer to Hardlight." He stated.

"Get ready guys." Hiro told them as they landed, the feeling of the arid desert under their feet. "We don't know where he is."

Just as he was about to ask Baymax to scan for him, a blue spark zapped him. "Red Panda!" Gogo sped to his side.

"Error, error, processing reboot, error-" Baymax stammered.

A cackle in the air made them look up. "Sorry! Wasn't going to let big red ruin my dramatic entrance!" Hardlight was above them, the fabled energy orb in his hand. "Ready for round two?"

"Why did you try to frame High Voltage?!" Wasabi demanded. "That was so not cool!"

"If you beat me, you might find out!" Hardlight summoned his circle. "I've given my minions a little boost, since your last electric foes decided to chicken out, thought I'd give you a refresher!"

"Oh, goody." Gogo groaned as he summoned the dog creatures, and there were electrical charges surrounding them.

Honey Lemon winced. "We're going to get zapped a lot, aren't we?"

"Yep."

Globby just laughed at the situation. "Jokes on you, I'm immune to electricity!" He bounced at a dog creature and stabbed it with metal. It growled and shocked him into pieces. "AAAAAhhh!" He reformed, spinning a little.

"I don't remember the orb doing that." Hiro commented. Then again, not like he saw High Voltage getting into fights with other villains.

"Oh did I forget to mention I added some extra features?" Hardlight flexed his claws. "Yeah I was bored, you were taking too long!"

"Well excuse me princess." Kat scoffed. They pulled out their carbyne blade. "Haven't used this bad boy in awhile." Then they went after the dog creature that zapped Globby, as it had a smaller charge now.

Gogo shot them a look. "I cannot believe you referred to your sword as 'this bad boy' like Chop Chop does."

"Hey!" Wasabi cried in offense as he was hitting the dog creatures with his laser blasts. They retaliated back with blasts of their electric charge, he yelped as he jumped up to dodge. "Is it just me, or do the charges get smaller every time they use an electric attack?"

"All Hardlight did was fill them up with electricity, like a battery, but it'll run out." Hiro explained. "So we have to outlast their charge."

"That shouldn't be hard." Gogo skated around the dogs, they tried firing jolts but they missed. Hardlight noticed this and he zapped the dogs with the orb, and their charge went back up to full. "Not cool, dude."

"Hey! Don't forget me!" Hardlight summoned his sword. "Ooh, I've got the perfect combo to try out!"

"Speed Queen look out!" Honey Lemon shouted.

Hardlight charged his sword with the orb and he struck, sending Gogo flying across the sand in an explosion of electricity. "SPEED QUEEN!" They all shouted as she groaned in pain.

Honey Lemon shook her head, glaring at Hardlight. "Oh, it's on!" She formed her bunny armor and ran at the gamer villain, delivering a punch to the head.

"Ow!" He flew back. "That actually hurt!" He tried zapping her with the orb, but the shocks bounced off.

"This has had worse voltages." Honey Lemon smirked. Then punched him again.

The others tended to Gogo. "Are you alright?" Baymax lifted her up.

"I'm fine, the sand softened my fall." She rubbed her shoulder.

Fred looked up. "Hey! Honey Lemon is distracting Hardlight." The gang then noticed the chemist duking it out against the gamer villain.

"That's my girlfriend." Gogo grinned.

"No you don't get it, if he's distracted, he can't recharge the doggos!"

Hiro blinked. "Of course! They can't regenerate their own electricity, so he has to constantly recharge them. If Honey Lemon averts his attention from them, we can stick to the plan!"

Wasabi readied his lasers. "That sounds good to me!"

He blasted the dogs, managing to knock them off their feet. They growled, baring their teeth and firing electrical blasts. "Ooh have at it!" Fred roared his fire blast, and the flames were strong enough to overwhelm the sparks.

The dog creatures leapt out of the blast, the charge barely visible on their holographic pelts. "Yaaar!" Globby attempted to stab one again, and this time it worked. "Finally!"

Wasabi chopped up one with his blades, and Gogo took out the rest with her hover disk. "Now for Hardlight." Hiro tapped Baymax. "Ready for Overdrive Mode?"

"Yes." Baymax activated his overdrive mode, and readied his sword.

"Would you hold still?!" Hardlight was trying to zap Honey Lemon but she kept ducking out the way. It was starting to get on the gamer villain's nerves.

The chemist just giggled, noticing Baymax approaching. "Well bunnies are quick-" She got cut off by his sword slicing some of the armor off.

"Ha!" He chuckled. "Got you!"

As he attempted to strike again. Baymax used his sword to knock Hardlight down. The orb flew out of his hands.

"I'll take that." Hiro picked up the orb easily thanks to his gloves. "Good job buddy."

Baymax reverted back, spinning a little. "Wheeeee!"

"You do realize you'll have to walk back now, right?" Kat stared at Hiro.

He shrugged. "Don't worry, I packed batteries."

Hardlight attempted to get up, but Fred pinned him with his foot. "Now, let's see who this menace really is!"

"Hey! You can't unmask the villain in part two!" He protested.

"It happened to Count Doom in Captain Fancy number thirty-three!"

As Fred extended his claws to pull off Hardlight's mask, he felt jolts of pain run down his body and something kicking him away. "AAAAAAAAA-" He flew into Wasabi.

"Ow!" The physics major rubbed his head. "What just-"

A cackle filled the air. "Oh, nice try! But I'm not letting you unmask our newest recruit just yet!"

"That voice…" Hiro's eyes widened. "It couldn't be."

"Oh, but it is!" In front of Hardlight was a figure that they thought would be long gone. Her grey uniform was dirty with sand and scuffs, her dirty-blonde hair wild and unbrushed. The gang winced a little as they saw the electrical scar on her face, it looked quite brutal. "Don't blame you for not recognizing me, I'm not as pretty as I used to be."

Kat snorted. "You weren't pretty at all, Voltrax!" They readied their blade. "Long time no see, not!"

"Wasn't that the spot where Juniper zapped her?" Fred pointed to the scar.

Voltrax overheard, she bared her fangs at the mention of the younger blonde. "That little brat ruined my good looks! And to think I wasted days of my time because I tried giving her a better chance, to join the greatest group of all time!"

"You're a few bananas short of the bunch, lady." Hiro shook his head. "You're not getting this orb back!"

"No need, our plan got ruined anyways." Voltrax scoffed. "I'll have to wait before getting my revenge on that little brat. But for now-" She leapt into the air with her electricity. Hardlight got up and formed his hover disk, and she landed on it. "Bye bye, Small Loser 6!"

"Get back you little-" Kat tried chasing after them but was stopped by Honey Lemon.

The chemist glared. "Now is not the time, she could be leading you into a trap."

The masked superhero shrugged their shoulders. "Oh, right."

"Let's talk about this later." Hiro sighed.

With a powerful foe back in the city, they needed some strategy on how to handle her.

"Voltrax, my love!" Indigo smiled as he spun his beloved around. "You came back to me."

"I always do." She grinned. "I'm not as pretty though…"

He shook his head. "Nonsense, you're still beautiful as ever." Indigo then pulled her into a deep kiss.

"Blech." Hardlight gagged. Sure he had a boyfriend, but they weren't that gross.

"I know, right?" Lonna whispered to him. "Before he was just sad and mopey, seeing him like this is creepy-aah!" She yelped as Voltrax sent a bolt her way.

She glared daggers at the two recruits. "If you two are done gossiping, get back to work."

"Yes Lady Voltrax!" Lonna and Hardlight scampered off.

Indigo chuckled. "Oh, I love it when you get angry at the recruits."

"I'd like to focus my rage on the brat that gave me this." Voltrax gestured to her scar. "I trust you have a plan?"

He hummed. "Yes, I've just been waiting for your arrival, my love."

"Good, I wouldn't want to miss out on your plans, my love. What's it about?"

"We'll be taking back a little runaway, and this time… there will be no escape."
