Authors Note: Hey guyss! It's 2023 and some of you'll might know me for writing that DWMA fic, this fic was orinigally supposed to be a remake of that but, I had way too many better ideas that I just transformed it into a new story instead. After rewatching Code Geass, I wanted to give this almost decade old crossover a second shot!
Basically this time around, Lelouch has both Suzaku and Nunnally to relay on in his journey at the DWMA. I won't spoil much more than this! Pls review if you enjoy! It helps give me some feedback on what I should write next in the chapters.

"G1 take cover yourself under the bridge and wait for my command to strike!" A commanding voice cracked to life on the other end of a receiver. A pigtailed girl wielding a large scythe cloaked herself in the darkness, beneath an arched stone bridge.
"Roger that" The girl whispered back.
"G2 force the target down the alleyway, keep pace in your pursuit and make sure to prevent any civilian casualties from occurring!" Once again the voice spoke up, accompanied by the sound of heavy steps smacking against hard pavement. A piercing white light illuminated the blackness as a brunette swung his at the weakened cultist. Twisting out of the way of a stray bullet, and delivering another slash, sending the target running down a dimly lit corridor at the city's edge.
"I won't let it get away! Not after what it's done to the people here!" The brunette shouted, leaping into the air, jumping over several dumpsters in hot pursuit of his target.
"G3 and G4? Has the area around the enemy hideout been cleared?" Turning its attention away from the two actors from before, the voice focused on a new pair of individuals.
"We've rounded up what was left of that guy's subordinates" Surveying the area on a hoverboard, a gun wielding meister watched from above the old city skyline. A place filled with ancient buildings and desecrated slums. Below him, a field of glowing red souls floated in an ominous battle field of stone and rubble. Several collapsed buildings along with a hollowed out hole in the center featured under that starless night.
"Why do we have to listen to that guy's gibberish anyways?" Light blue hair contrasted against the evil, crimson glow of the souls laid to waste. "It's not like we would have lost if we just went all out on our own" A cocky youngman stood next to a dark haired girl who only sighed in relief. Now that the main hideout of the gang had been purged, the group was now only waiting for the downfall of its leader.
Hushed breaths escaped a bloodied out man, dashing from alley to alley, running for his life. Bullets being fired against walls, boxes, and other objects in a blind fury to shake off his pursuer. A stray graze here, a painful slash there, a molotov bottle that almost sent him flying, burning off portions of his jacket. Labored steps rushed down the hallway of nightmares, his hands already stained with the blood from the hundreds of people he had put to death. Stopping to catch his breath, taking in the metallic scent that had polluted his throat he lumbered his way to a lit bridge, his vision already losing focus. Stumbling, fumbling, finally gaining momentum from his tired legs he made his way into the light.
"H-huh…?" Then, all the world stopped moving. The man noticed something was off. His eyes darted paranoid at his surroundings, yet he could not locate his pursuer. It was if he had vanished into thin air-
"G1! Execute, now!"
Suddenly, a scythe swung from behind the man's back, causing his blood to run cold just as he had done to so many others in the past. Turning to face his execution, he met eyes with a young girl.
SLASH
Separating the cult leader's head from his body in a clean, precise slice, the girl caught the man's evil soul in her hands. That eerie red glow illuminating the darkness of that silent summer night.
"Man, that was a long one, so glad it's over" Soul raised one arm in the arm to stretch, his body aching from days on the mission. Relaxing with a fresh plate of pizza in the DWMA's mess hall.
"The academy did expect the mission to take a while, but it's rare for something to stretch on for as long as it did." Kid remarked, " It was not until we were mid way did the school discover there was more to this gang than we expected.
"Either way, I had no idea they were keeping so much stuff hidden. They felt more like a cult than a gang ran in the slums" Suzaku added, his face growing more serious. After what appeared to be a simple execution order from Lord Death, the entire mission had turned into taking down an entire underground cult running illegal human experiments. Originally, only Suzaku and Maka were tasked to hunt the threat, but both Blackstar and Death the Kid pitched in due to being nearby and for the massive increase in soul reaping numbers.
"But with this, we're all basically half way in creating multiple death scythes already" Maka chimed in. The mass soul hunt had been so successful that each demon weapon partner was able to speed up their growth immensely.
"Hell yea! And it's all thanks to me! The all great and powerful BlackStarrrrr!" With almost everyone ignoring another rant from their most energetic member, another question arose from the small friend group.
"Speaking of victory credit, who was over the phone anyway?" Liz asked, earning similar comments as all eyes turned to the only two brunettes in the group. "Do you know, Nunnally?"
"Actually, I'm not so sure myself" Nunnally said albeit bewildered, "One day, me and Suzaku found an earpiece placed in his locker and that's how we came into contact with him." Sitting in a row among the girls, she faced her meister on the opposite end, as if looking for a better answer.
"He calls himself L2, but that's all we know from our conversations" the meister explained, making his peers even more confused.
"Wait up, so you're saying we trusted some rando over the phone to guide us? I thought you said the guy was a staff member" Soul cocked an eyebrow at the suspicious nature of the event. There was no way trusting a mysterious voice that appeared one day out of the blue was a good idea. Yet, for some reason both he and Maka also went along with its commands as if it were the most natural thing to do.
"Yea! That idiot even roped us in too, what was up with that, man?" BlackStar scratched his head, during the end of his mission, he received a sudden call from his phone to book it to France, immediately.
"Well, he was the one that got us out of a tight pinch" Nunnally eyed Maka, who also acknowledged in a nod. There had been an instance in the mission where both meisters were cleverly separated from their weapon partners by the cult, but the voice had instructed them to use a hidden passage to escape and regroup underground.
"As much as I didn't trust whoever was on the other line at the time, we didn't have a choice at the time" It looked like the cult was well prepared for Death's plans. After all, what was a meister when they were unarmed and outnumbered by the hundreds. Perhaps someone like Stein could have left unscathed, however, even the most top notch meister would tire from the heat of battle.
"If anything, I have to report this incident to Lord Death. Although, I must admit, they were able to turn the tide against those cultists rather quickly than I expected" Death the Kid mused out loud. In fact, from how fast Kid was called in from his own assignment in Europe at the time, it felt like the voice knew a little too much. How did it determine when he finished off his targets? And why engage with Suzaku and Nunnally in particular? Questions swarmed in his head and he needed answers. Perhaps his father would know something more.
"We'll keep you informed if anything from L2 comes up again, as well"
"Everything looks normal, it appears you only suffered minor bruises from my assessment" Suzaku raised his arm, letting the intern take his blood pressure, and writing it down on an examination record. Every student who attends the EAT class is given regular medicals to determine their baseline health before and after a mission. In Lord Death's words, it was to prevent unforeseen health conditions from threatening the lives of the children and those around them. However, the doctor doing the medical was different from the usual staff. As DWMA had recently hired a medical intern from the outside to help the already overworked infirmary.
"Aren't you the same age as me?" Suzaku watched the intern fill in several forms, bewildered by all how young he appeared. The entire class of Crescent Moon was no older than fifteen, being barely qualified as meisters, yet the boy in front of him somehow was attending medical school.
"So what? Being young doesn't discredit my achievements now does it? The intern snarked, making the brunette unnaturally annoyed. There was a bizarre, deep seeded annoyance with this particular individual, yet he did not know why.
"Somehow, I almost find it hard to believe" Suzaku was sure even in Death City there were laws against anyone below the age of twenty working as a medical professional. Then again, maybe this was just his home country of Japan.
"Personally, I find sending children out into battle hungry murderers to be a lot less believable" Now that the intern had brought the topic up, the idea was somewhat absurd. The school had a fleet of adult meisters and weapons at the beck and call, yet most of the missions were taken by students. Studying the brunette's face, the intern was sure he saw the gears in his head turning at the absurdity. But what he said next really rustled his feathers.
"It is what our system is. Lord Death aims to bring peace to this world and as a member of the EAT class, I have accepted that I may be put in danger if I keep going." Suzaku clenched his fist, looking directed at the intern who frowned at the reply.
"A person who is ready to carry out Death's orders is just as ready to meet him at Death's door"
"Yea. To protect this world from evil, one has to step up somehow. Even if it means losing in the process". Soft emerald eyes shone in the orange glow of the evening light, bathing the entire infirmary in an otherworldly aura.
"Even if it means having the ones you love, grieve for you when your life is cut short? In this otherwise peaceful world, you could choose to do anything else" Crossing his arms in a stern frown, the intern challenged the young meister. In the history of the academy, hundreds of student's names were listed among the dead. To actively pursue this line of work was to throw one's life away almost carelessly.
Nodding his head, Suzaku let the intern know he had made peace with his fate. In truth, many students at the school had only brushed up against the idea of their own death. So few would make it into the EAT class and from there, many drop out due to their inability to cut another short, even if the enemy was evil, because they were still human at the core.
"Very well," the intern's eyes soften, "take care of your weapon partner and return alive the next time I see you. There have been too many losses lately"
"Thank you, I'll be sure to keep us both alive"
Somewhere, in the depths of the DWMA, sat two figures facing each other in a sky blue room. A lone mirror reflecting the images of the outside played in the background, not too dissimilar to a television screen broadcasting the ongoings of the world around them.
"So how did the conversation go, kiddo? Are you satisfied by the answer?" towering above the youngman in the opposite site, sat the dark figure of Death.
"About as smooth as I expected," Lelouch said with a grimace. He knew Suzaku too well for him to not reply in the way he did. However, he was able to test his best friend's resolve. "But is your academy really hell bent on sending children into battle as they are?"
"I originally created this as a school to educate humans on how to hunt down souls who have strayed from their paths. But in recent years, the DWMA has become a place for those who seek to learn and live with their abilities such as in the NOT class. Your friends could have chosen to participate in either course, yet they chose to hunt those who commit injustice of their own free will" Death countered, eyeing the boy with his hollow eyes.
"Nunnally and Suzaku, neither of these individuals have memories from before. I'd rather have them live peacefully in the city…" It was too painful to watch the two risk their lives in this new world. A world that was bathed in a scene of stillness and peace, never changing.
"As you know, I cannot actively expel students without cause. Nor do I wish to create a reason to"
"And I am unable to enroll in the acadmacy due to my own circumstances. A witch's soul would be detected in an instant and cause a citywide witch hunt" Lelouch added. Hidden underneath his jacket was the geass symbol, etched onto his chest. In essence, he had inherited what was similar to a code, but not to its full extent.
Death focused his eyes, seeing a deep purplish mixture from the boy's soul. Although he was able to explain himself enough to be spared, it was still impossible for him to be mixed in among the normal, human population for very long. In fact, it was only due to Stein's work that they were able to conceal Lelouch's true soul wavelength by creating a faux version of soul protect. However, it was imperfect and limited him to the school campus itself. In a way, Death found companionship in the fact that the two were now stuck together in the same building.
"Which is why I will continue to allow you to keep in contact with your companions. I must say, I was amazed at the stunt you made the kids pull off the other day." Death complemented the boy, "The world you must have come from has taught you…many things"
"Likewise. Only those who were prepared to kill, were the ones also prepared to die"
Alrighty, that's chapter 1. Fairly short but here are some clarifications for the fic so far:
*Lelouch and the others are about 15-ish due to the whole world travel thing, but this will be explained more later
*Lelouch's "code" isn't exactly complete and so he's taken on more of the movie version of himself which is called a "failed one" who
can still use Geass but is unable to be 'immortal' like C2. But he does get the ability to have enternal youth just like movie 3's ending.
*Nunnally is a demon weapon (sword) and she can walk and see in this universe.
*Suzaku is...welp, you'll see.
Once again, pls gemme some feedback if you like the story so I can improve, thanks!
