I DO NOT OWN THE HUNGER GAMES. ALL RIGHTS BELONG TO SUZANNE COLLINS. THIS WILL BE AN SYOT STORY. THE MAIN FOCUS WILL BE ON THE STEELPATH BROTHERS, BUT ANY SUBMITTED TRIBUTES WILL GET SCREENTIME; I ASSURE YOU. I RECENTLY WATCHED THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES AND IT GAVE ME AN INCREDIBLE IDEA FOR A STORY WHERE A POWERFUL CAPITOL FAMILY USES THE 121ST HUNGER GAMES FOR THEIR OWN BENEFIT. ALSO, IN THIS UNIVERSE, THE "MOCKINGJAY" REBELLION, LED BY KATNISS EVERDEEN FAILED AND DISTRICTS 12 AND 13 WERE WIPED OUT.

Steelpath Family Estate. The Capitol, Panem. 1 week before the 121st Hunger Games.

Capricorn Steelpath tried to keep himself calm as he walked down the long hallway that led to his father's study. Aries Steelpath had a strict rule that no one was allowed in his study except for him, unless it was an emergency; even his wife was no exception. The few times that Cap had been allowed into his father's study were to either be yelled at for an infraction of the family rules, beaten for an infraction of the family rules, or one right after the other. So naturally, the 17 year old assumed that's what this was about; especially since the old man didn't give him a reason for the visit, he'd just demanded it.

As Cap approached the study, he forced down a groan as he saw Leo leaning against the left handed wall right next to the door. Cap had always sworn that he had been utterly cursed with the most insufferable fraternal twin brother he could have gotten. Leo always went out of his way to make sure that Cap, along with the rest of the world, knew that he was their father's favorite. Leo would always be bought the best presents, afforded the most privileges, bought the best cars, and of course, possess the finest women.

The issues of females had always been a sore one between the brothers. Leo had enjoyed dozens of girlfriends and more hookups than a boy his age had really ought to have. Cap could make no such boasts. He'd never hooked up with a girl and he'd never had a steady girlfriend. Any time that Cap had ever gotten a crush on a girl, Leo had a nasty habit of stealing her away; and once Leo the lion had gotten his hands on her, Cap the goat couldn't help but lose interest. Dating a girl that had been with his brother felt too much like incest for his delicate sensibilities.

"Why are you here?" Leo asked with a shake of his head, as if his brother's very presence annoyed him to no end.

"Same as you, I assume: Father summoned me." Cap shrugged as the study doors opened and their mother motioned them in.

"Come on in boys, your father needs to talk with you." Aquarius Steelpath replied as she gently touched Cap's cheek. Leo may have been his father's favorite, but Cap would always be a mama's boy. As the boys sat down, their father was looking out the window; his back turned to them. After a few minutes of extremely uncomfortable silence, the patriarch of the Steelpath family finally spoke.

"Boys, i've called you in here to discuss the future of our family." Aries said as he walked over and sat at his large cherry wood desk. "For the last 27 years, Steelpath Inc has held the high honor of being the exclusive weapons supplier to the Capitol for use in the Hunger Games. It is a honor that I do not take lightly. However..i'm not as young as I was once and I will not be around forever as the board of directors keep reminding me. Therefore, I have decided that I need to name my successor and begin grooming him to one day, take over the family business.'

"I am ready to carry on our legacy father!" Leo exclaimed with a prideful smile as he stood up, naturally assuming his father would bequeath the business to him.

"I'm sure you are, my son. However, it is not that simple." Mr. Steelpath replied as he motioned for Leo to sit back down. "You and your brother both have an equal claim to the company and your mother insists that I should let Capricorn have a chance to prove himself." Cap wasn't surprised that his mother had spoken up for him, but he was surprised that his father had taken her opinion into account.

"Come on father, you can't leave Steelpath Inc in that hands of that loser, he'll bankrupt us all!" Leo insisted angrily as he refused to let his brother have anything he deemed to be his.

"Be still, your father speaks!" Aries commanded as Leo reluctantly shut up.

"Your father has decided to have you both engage in a friendly competition to see who will succeed him as head of this house." Mrs. Steelpath explained.

"What kind of competition?" Cap asked anxiously.

"With the 121st annual Hunger Games nearly upon us, I decided to make it a family sport: I will allow each of you to sponsor a tribute of your choosing. I will cover all expenses for you to supply them with whatever they should need. The only rule is that you can not both choose the same tribute. Whichever tribute wins the games, or survives the longest, will be the heir to my weapons empire." Cap was shocked at this turn of developments, while Leo was incensed.

"Father, this isn't fair! I should be your successor!" Leo growled as Aries stuck him across the face.

"Question my decision again and I shall declare your brother the winner by default. Now both of you, leave me in peace." Aries growled in return as the boys nodded their heads and left the study. Once the door was closed, Leo grabbed his twin by the shirt collar.

"If yu think that i'm going to let you or mother steal my birth right, you're wrong!" Leo exclaimed before shoving Cap to the floor and storming off in a fit of rage as Cap hated that he had to be pitted against his more successful brother; again.
