Raw: November 11, 2013
We were in Manchester, England this week for Raw. The baby was at home with Randy's parents and Al due to this as Randy and I weren't comfortable with taking the baby out of the country, and Stephanie and Triple H were on vacation. Since they were on vacation, I was able to enjoy myself tonight.
Randy walks in. "Babe, why am I in a Handicap match against Cody and Goldust tonight?"
I go through the papers on my desk. "I don't know. I was unaware that was something that was on the match card. I didn't book it. It doesn't say who booked it on the paper here."
"Did Brad do it? He knows that I was involved in the decision to have you test how good he is at his job. He may hold that against me."
"He can't book anything without running it through me. It was probably Triple H or Stephanie."
"Maybe, but wouldn't they leave it to you since they're on vacation?"
"That would be normal for them."
"Is there anyone else who could book a match?"
"Well, I guess Kane can now since he's been made the Director of Operations."
Randy sighs. "Well, that's just great."
"You'll be fine. You can figure something out. Hell, if it gets too bad, get disqualified or counted out."
Randy smirks. "This is why I like having you as a manager."
I shrug. "What would you do without me?"
"I don't even want to think about that."
"You shouldn't have to." I look over as someone knocks on the door. "It's open."
Kane walks in and closes the door behind him. "Great. You're both here. You two got a minute?"
"Did you book this Handicap match that Randy's in?" I ask Kane upfront.
"Uh, no. I know what you're talking about, but I figured you booked it yourself. You don't know who booked it?"
"I don't. Brad couldn't have without my permission, so I thought it was you."
"Wasn't me. I'll text Triple H and ask if it was him or Stephanie." Kane grabs his phone and sends a text.
I glance at Randy for a moment before turning my attention back to Kane. "What did you come here to talk about?"
"I just wanted to clear the air with both of you. I know I put you through some shit a few years back. I'm sorry, and I'm hoping that we can put this behind us and have a good working relationship since we're all involved in the Authority."
I don't say a word and look over at Randy.
Randy grabs my hand. "Agreed, but if you ever threaten either of us again, things won't be so nice."
"Understood." Kane glances over at me.
I nod. "I forgive you, but don't ever threaten me again."
"Of course." Kane looks at his phone. "Triple H says that neither him nor Stephanie booked this match and it could have been Vickie Guerrero."
I sigh. "I forgot Vickie technically can book things on Raw. I guess I'll be dealing with her later."
"I can do it."
"Do you want to though? I can handle it."
Kane shrugs. "I haven't gotten to do much yet. I'll tell Vickie not to book anything on Raw without running it past you or me ever again."
I nod. "Alright. Thanks."
"See you two in a while." Kane exits the room.
Randy looks at me. "Is it just me or is it so weird seeing him like that?"
I turn to Randy. "It's not just you. I'm so weirded out by it."
I was rushing through the halls to make it to the trainer's room. Big Show had come out after Randy's match and put him through an announce table. As general manager, it was my responsibility to check on wrestlers who got hurt, but I also wanted to check on my husband in general. On my way there, Brad and Vickie walk past me, both looking visibly concerned.
I turn to look at them. "Vickie, don't book a match on my show ever again."
Vickie looks back at me. "I'm the SmackDown general manager. I have a right to book matches."
"Keyword here being SmackDown. I'm the Raw general manager. When have I booked matches on your show? Stay off of my show."
"Are you sure you're even able to handle being Raw general manager?"
I glare at Vickie. "I'm pretty sure I'm handling my job just fine."
"That's not what Brad says."
I narrow my eyes at Brad, who looks fearful. "And what would Brad know about being a good general manager? The company put me in this position because he wasn't good enough, and Vickie, you're subpar at the job at best."
"I'm pretty sure you got the job because of nepotism."
I roll my eyes. "Do you think I, who did nothing but wrestle and manage my husband before having this position, used nepotism for this? No. I didn't even want to do it at first, but I decided to because I wanted to get back to work. Vickie, I know you're worried about how Stephanie and Triple H are going to handle this when they get back next week, but you shouldn't be worried about them. You should be worried about me, and that goes for you too, Brad."
I walk away from them and to the trainer's room to see Kane in there with the trainer and an irate Randy.
Randy glares at Kane. "Get out."
Kane looks at Randy. "Randy, I'm the Director of Operations now. If you keep mouthing off like that, Big Show won't be your only problem."
"I hope that isn't a threat, Kane." I comment from the doorway.
"May we have some privacy in here to check on Mr. Orton's shoulder?" The trainer asks Kane and me.
"Rissa can stay here." Randy tells the trainer. "She won't be in the way."
"I actually do need to talk to Kane really quickly." I explain to Randy. "We'll take it out in the hall, but I promise you I'll be back in here as soon as we're done talking. I won't leave your side after that."
Randy nods. "Alright."
Kane and I exit the trainer's room. I close the door behind us.
I look at Kane. "Just give Randy time to cool off. Big Show put him through the announce table. You can't tell me that you wouldn't be in a bad mood after that if it was you."
Kane sighs. "I see your point. What did you want to discuss?"
"Did you get the chance to speak with Vickie?"
"No, I haven't caught up to talk to her."
"Don't worry about it. She's pissed me off. I will handle her personally. I know you're texting Triple H and Stephanie, so tell them that I'll worry about handling Vickie after what happened tonight."
Kane grabs his phone and types out a text. "I'll do it right now."
"Thanks."
"Is there anything else you need to discuss?"
"Yes, there actually is. Does this whole Director of Operations thing make you another authority figure that can make matches and stuff?"
"To my understanding, yes."
"Alright, between the two of us, I won't be having an assistant for much longer. I'm not expecting you to want to be Marissa Orton's assistant, but I want to know if you'd be willing to help out a little sometimes if I could use it."
Kane nods. "We're both a part of the Authority. I have no problem with that. I just don't want us stepping on each other's toes. Triple H texted me back and said that you handling Vickie is fine with them."
"Good. Thank you. I appreciate it."
"What're you going to tell Brad?"
"I'm gonna get him on TV next week and fire him. He clearly has been saying shit about me behind my back to Vickie. I'm gonna repay the favor and fire him from being my assistant on TV. There's one more thing I want to ask you."
"What's that?"
"Vickie has never booked anything on Raw since I've been general manager until tonight. I think something drove her to do that. I don't think she'll admit it to me, but you're intimidating. Is there any chance you would want to get her to spill and let me know what exactly it was?"
"Consider it done. Anything else?"
"Not right now. Thank you."
"Of course. I'll let you know what I find out." Kane walks away.
I sigh before heading back into the trainer's room to be with Randy.
I sat with Randy in the trainer's room. He was in a bad mood, and I honestly wasn't much better. Randy was told he wasn't allowed to compete at the SmackDown Filming tomorrow. It could've been worse, but I still wasn't happy about it. On top of that, I was still mad about Big Show being able to blackmail himself into a WWE Championship match against Randy at Survivor Series, as well as the booking of that Handicap match earlier tonight.
I rub Randy's back. "There's no reason for me to be at SmackDown. I could see if I can get us moved to an earlier flight home if you want."
"Do that if you can. If not, I wouldn't mind some quality time at the hotel with you. We don't get a lot of time to ourselves these days." Randy responds.
"Well, we have kids."
"I know. I'm not blaming them. We could have more time to ourselves at work before you were general manager though. I miss it."
"You know why I took this position."
"I know, but if you get to a point where you can't stand being general manager any longer, you can leave the position. You can still get on TV. You can always be my manager, and if you wanted to wrestle full time again, no one would stop you from doing it."
"I'd need some motivation to wrestle full time again. I might consider sticking to just being your manager though."
"As far as I'm concerned, you're always welcome to be in my corner for matches."
"I know."
"Are you just mad about what happened to me or is there more? You seem almost as angry as I am."
I sigh. "There's more, and it's making me feel like I should be petty, vengeful, and vindictive, which I shouldn't be."
"What exactly got you in this mood?"
"Well for starters, I caught Vickie and Brad in the hall. I told Vickie to never book a match on my show again. Vickie questioned whether or not I can handle being Raw general manager. I told her I could, and she made a comment about Brad saying otherwise."
"So Brad is talking shit behind your back?"
I roll my eyes. "Apparently. Anyway, I commented about getting this job because Brad wasn't good enough. Vickie accused me of getting it because of nepotism. She may be partially right, but it wasn't nepotism I pushed for. I'm pissed and want to teach Vickie and Brad a lesson."
"Well, you're supposed to be a part of the Authority now. Everyone else in it is petty and vindictive. Who's gonna get mad about you being petty and vindictive towards Vickie and Brad anyway? Do it. Plus, it may make Triple H and Stephanie trust you more if you act a little like them."
I sigh. "That's a good point."
"Do you have any ideas?"
"Well for starters, definitely firing Brad from being my assistant and gonna do it on TV. I want more though. The one thing that's crossed my mind is that I know they're both listed as part of the active roster, so I could book them both in matches next week. I'm unsure though."
"Are you listed as part of the active roster? You don't want Vickie doing the same to you."
"I know I'm not. I could do it. I just need to figure out who to book them against."
"Assuming I'm physically cleared next week, I will volunteer to beat up Brad."
"If I use you, it's no better than you being involved in Triple H and Stephanie's issues with Big Show."
"It is better though. I agreed to this, and he disrespected you. What kind of husband would I be if I didn't stand up for you and handle it? If they clear me, give me Brad. Plus, wrestling Big Show and beating up Brad are two totally different things. Brad doesn't stand a chance, Rissa."
I nod. "Alright. I think I have an idea in mind for who to face Vickie next week too."
