Chapter two:

Mello growls as his eyes narrowing making Matt slightly pull his hand back looking upon the blonde with surprise.

Matt stares at Mello thoughtfully as the blonde tries to fight back his demons. He then blinks as if an idea has come to him. "How about I introduce you to Near?" He offers moving his hand away from an offered handshake to point to the boy's direction. "I could teach you how to read him a little." He offers and Mello manages to force his eyes to Near.

Suddenly Mello finds some kind of calmness start to wash over him. He blinks as his demon is pushed down and he isn't sure how. He nods softly and the admittedly annoying red head leads him over to the other. He sits by Matt who sits beside Near. He does sit slightly behind the other in order to be closer to Near. He feels almost this calming aura flowing off of Near as if his distance from reality somehow gives off calmness.

"Hey Near. Me again." Matt greets with a smile at the unresponsive boy who doesn't even so much as look in his direction. He continues on as if sure that Near is hearing him despite that there is no signs that Near is even aware that Matt is there. "I've brought a new friend too." He adds turning to Mello who keeps his eyes on the platinum haired boy. "This is Mello. He wants to be friends with you too." He also turns his attention to Near who just blinks slowly before just continuing to stare. "Don't worry. I'm sure that he'll make a good friend." He encourages to Near though Mello isn't sure why he even said such a thing, and the blonde looks unimpressed at how Matt almost seems to actually not know what he is doing. "Go ahead and say hello Mello." He tries to encourage to the other who lets out a breath deciding to go along with it for now.

"Hello Near. It's nice to meet you." Mello focuses on Near's face not seeing even so much as a flash of emotion. He blinks curiously as he would have expected his demon to claw up… Yet he can't even feel it lingering within him right now. He decides that he really does need to get to know more about Near as there is something special about him.

Matt opens his mouth after turning back to Near as if about to say something when a nurse approaches speaking before he can.

"Matt. It is time for your treatment." The nurse informs him making Matt groan.

"Fine!" Matt gets to his feet and looks to Mello. "Take good care of Near for me." He leaves with the nurse leaving Mello all alone with Near.

Mello, who glanced back to watch Matt leave, notices some weird looks from the others as if trying to befriend Near is looked down upon. He almost feels like he is being judged as if he is being an idiot for even trying to help Near react to someone. He lets out a low growl starting to feel his demon crawl back up. He is starting to see red though when he moves to shift to get ready to charge at anyone giving him looks… He runs into something… His head snaps around to look only to blink as he sees Near.

Near just leans slightly from the hit then leans back to how he was sitting before.

Mello feels the demon crawl its way back into the darkness of his body as he stares at Near. He really doesn't understand what is going on here. He settles himself down turning his back to the others and just looking out the window. He can see some clouds in the sky outside. "I wonder… Do you find shapes in the clouds? Or perhaps you really are off somewhere far away." He blinks at some lightning flashes in the distance past some trees. He glances to Near wondering if the other saw that. His eyes widen a little as he notices the slight increase of Near's breath. He notices that it is very slight and hard to really notice though he wonders why. He gets his answer when slight thunder is heard and Near's breathing stops for a brief second before going back to normal. "You don't like thunderstorms?" He blinks at the other who doesn't show any sort of response. He however realizes something as his eyes flicker to the window again.

To some degree Near is actually aware though he doesn't respond the same way as others.

Mello gets an idea and he stands up before remembering that Near won't follow him up. He bends down tugging on Nears arm until he manages to get him to stand. He holds onto Near's arm as he leads him away from the window. He doesn't look at anyone else though sneaks glances at Near who just follows without anything other than a distant stare. He gets Near to a spot in this place that has no windows and he thinks they won't be able to hear the incoming storm. He glances around trying to decide where to sit with Near.

This place looks to be some kind of activity room with some playing some games at tables that look like innocent board games, one table has a few who seem to using a board game piece to do that game with stabbing a knife around your fingers just a safer version, and others seem to not actually be playing any games just having them there so they can talk; Not to mention about two staff members in here to watch those that are in here.

Mello spots a table with a free spot open and takes Near there where he psychically guides Near to sit in a chair before sitting next to him. He eyes the connect four game set there for them though decides against it. He looks to Near despite that he can feel gazes on him. He needs to try to not be locked away when he's just found a way to be able to pick up on some sort of response from Near. Plus he has found a way to keep the demons at bay even if it is just for a bit as he knows he can't spend all day with Near. He is well aware that Near has his own treatment and schedule, not to mention the blondes own. "So." He begins trying to make sure that his voice won't carry in the room in case anyone is listening in. "You wanna know something? I have the demons in me. Yet when I even just look at you they seem to vanish. I don't understand." He watches Near for any sign of a reaction yet sees nothing to indicate anything so he just continues. "I wanna know more about you. What's your story?" He supposes he could ask Matt if he really wants to… However he doesn't think that it will be as fun as finding out for himself. He also thinks that it'll give him something to do while in here on top of getting Near to come out of his distant shell. "Something probably happened to make you this way." He keeps a close eye for anything to tell him anything. "Did you witness a murder?" He doesn't see any sign of anything changing in Near. "Were you kidnapped?" He blinks at noticing a slight change in Near's breathing for a few moments as if afraid before going back to normal. "I see. So something with a kidnapping caused this. I doubt most kidnappings end up with victims like this. So something hugely destressing must have happened with this kidnapping. Something so horrible that it's affected you so deeply." He hums in thought looking over Near trying to figure out what might have been so bad that Near took himself away from reality. He finds that he isn't quite sure as he doesn't think any that is common in kidnappings would cause this. He is about to ask more questions when someone calls out.

"Hey idiot! Stop wasting your time with a nobody if you wanna be anyone in this place!"

Mello turns to see the one who had been jabbing the game piece around his fingers has stopped to look at him. He can see something sparkling in this boy's eyes as if the other feels entitled in some form. He narrows his eyes with a growl at the other as his demons are quickly clawing their way back up.

A loud boom of thunder is muffled yet heard and a slight inhale of air, though quiet so hardly noticeable, comes from beside Mello.

Mello turns about to snap at whoever did that for distracting him from his revenge on the one who thinks he is above him. His eyes catch how Near's chest slight shifts as if quietly breathing fearfully. He swallows back his demons who go down more quietly than usual. He finds himself hating to see Near so scared of something. "Come on." He tugs Near's arm remembering the way he did so last time which got Near to stand. "Let's find somewhere else." He turns as one of the staff members approach him.

"I am sorry but he'll be needed for treatment soon."

"Can I at least walk with him there?" Mello inquires doubting that he'll keep his demons down if he is left here. He notices slight surprise from the staff member who then quickly nods. He follows him tugging Near along and he has to separate from Near once they are by the hallway of rooms where treatment happens. He slightly glances around as a security guard won't let him go any further. He tries to figure out what he can do until Near's treatment is done… However long that is… He turns heading away only to notice the boy from before with the same group from the table making a bee line for him. He knows that this won't be good.

"Hey there man. Call me King Manix. I come from a place you haven't even heard of and I am crowned King there." The boy announces proudly. "People don't seem to believe me but I come from a far off land where those of myth are real. Why do you think you all have your little myth stories? Anyways. I have a proposal for you. Join my legion and I can save you from damnation you're setting up for yourself by hanging out with that nobody. He doesn't matter. I don't see any value in him."

Mello sees red and the demons that have been held back break through. He slams a punch to Manix's face knocking him to the floor. He starts slamming kicks at the boy while the followers watch on with wide eyes. He is letting out demonic sounding growls and snarls. He keeps going not intending to stop, that is before he is tackled by two staff members he hadn't even noticed. He struggles though is held down despite his snarls. He is injected with someone as he feels the pinch in his arm. He starts to feel woozy and soon passes out. He can hear whispers of his inner demons as he sits in an all black space. He covers his ears trying to not even hear what they are trying to say. He just wants to be out of this place in his own head!
