Chapter Three

Her husband was right. That isn't a saying which is said much when it comes to a marriage; because in a marriage, the wife is always right. But in this case, Jay was right because he knew ahead of time what Alex truly needed right now, which wasn't sexual time with him. Rather, what she needs instead is time where they can hold each other close and just take it nice and easy with each other, which means that he needs to keep his sweats on in order to make sure that she stays calm and just breaths…which is precisely what Alex is in the midst of doing right now, as she found herself standing at the window in their room watching as the snow fell. And let's just say that Alex loved the sight as it meant that she and Jay were very likely going to have a white Christmas this year, something both of them were happy about. "I had a feeling that you were going to be standing there, looking outside as the snow fell." Turning around when she heard her husband walk into their room, Alex agreed due to the fact that she absolutely loved the sight. "I'm happy about it." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, prior to making his way over to her to hold her in his arms like she wants.

However, that didn't mean that Alex was going to be facing him, something which was more than okay with Jay as he walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her; while she placed her hands on his arms and smiled as she leaned back against his chest. At the same time, Jay turned his head and smiled as he pressed his lips to her forehead due to the fact that he was happy right now; happy to have the woman he loves and adores here in his arms, as they held each other close in their room. "I'm glad to see that the snow is calming you down." Alex agreed with Jay, as it most certainly is calming her down; something she needs to do right now and will continue doing for the rest of the day…maybe even tonight when she hopes to do something with the man she loves. "I may even calm down even more, when I have my sweet husband in the bath with me?" Alex queried, as she turned around in Jay's arms and stepped close to him, while also wrapping her arms around his waist. Meanwhile, Jay placed his hands on her arms and smiled as he stared down into his wife's gorgeous eyes. "I think that can be arranged." Alex agreed with Jay as she smiled and leaned up to kiss him.

And damn, did they both enjoy the sweet feeling of each other's soft lips; it had to be one of their favorite things to do with each other, aside from making sweet love to each other in bed. Then again, kissing was part of showing each other love; so, you could say they made love to each other whenever they shared a kiss. And luckily for Jay and Alex, they can't seem to keep their hands off each other; even now that they're married, they still have their hands all over each other…not that they're complaining when it comes to how sexy they are with each other, as they absolutely love how hot and sexy they get with each other. Alex just wishes there was something she could do to get her husband to take her to bed. So, she decided to step close to him and move her lips to his neck, sucking on it with the hopes of convincing Jay to take her to bed now; and while he did love the feeling (as he moved his hand to the back of her head), that didn't mean that they were going to be making love to each other yet. "Not yet baby." Turning her head to look at Jay, Alex just got so frustrated. "God, you're so annoying! I mean, are you serious? You look like that, and I can't have you!"

Jay agreed with his wife, before reminding her that the same goes for her. "You think that I want to resist you when you look like that?" Alex smirked as Jay said that, before placing her hands on his abs as she stepped close to him. "Then why are you resisting me?" Placing his hands on Alex's arms again, Jay reminded Alex why he was resisting her. "Because it's what you need to do Alex. Remember what Emily said? She said you've been overworking and trying to make the charity event perfect." Alex sighed as Jay said that, prior to walking away so that she could go get in bed. "But, it'll never be perfect. I already know that." Shaking his head as he grabbed Alex's hand, Jay sighed as this is not how he wanted to start this conversation; but now that they're starting this conversation the way they are, then it means that they need to keep going from here. "Alex, I want to talk to you as we hold each other close in bed. Can we please just do that? I really want you to hear me out and listen." Turning around when Jay asked her that once she was standing next to their bed, Alex nodded; while also watching as Jay made his way over to her and placed his hands on her sides this afternoon.

Meanwhile, she placed one of her hands on his neck, while placing her other hand on his arm as they both held each other close, which is precisely what they both need to do with each other right now. They need to hold each other close as they take it nice and easy with each other. "Alex, I'm worried about you right now. I didn't want to say it before, but that was one of the big reasons why I came home early. Yes, I wanted to come home early because I missed you and wanted to be with you; but I was also worried about you, especially after speaking to my brother, to Emily, and even to your mom. What's this about you cancelling plans with your parents on Sunday?" Alex sighed. "Adam was going to be there with Becca. And I was worried that being there would just remind me that my partner wasn't there. You know, they're engaged now." Jay smiled. "I know, I went out to help him pick out a ring for Becca." Alex was surprised to hear that. "And you didn't tell me that he was going to propose to Becca!" Jay smiled. "We both know you would've told her." Alex shrugged, well aware that she can't keep a secret that easy. "Ok. You're right." Jay smirked. "Two times, I must be lucky."

Alex smiled as Jay said that, before leaning up to go kiss him; until they were interrupted by Bobby barking at the both of them after jumping on their bed. And as Alex turned her head to look at their dog, Bobby could see that she was not happy with him at the moment. "Oh, hush up. You got to spend time with Jay the entire time he was away, I didn't…" Which led Alex to remembering something that happened two nights ago. "Oh god. I should've called you yesterday again, especially last night after what happened the night before. How are you doing? I got your text and then called you right away." Jay agreed with his wife, before taking a breath as he looked at her. "How about we get in bed together and we can hold each other close." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that. "Jay, can I ask you something first?" Jay agreed with Alex. "Always." Alex sighed. "Is that why you aren't ready to have sex? Because it's related to me and loosing me?" Jay sighed as he looked at his wife, worried after last summer. "Alex, we got into a huge fight last summer that almost ended our engagement." Alex agreed with her husband as he told her that, as that was the truth.

They did have a big fight last summer regarding how they wanted to do stuff about money, and how they wanted to raise their hypothetical children; whether they wanted to send them to private schools or public schools. And that was the reason why they almost split up, as they were worried about what would happen if they were in the middle of a fight…then Jay went on a business trip and they weren't okay. However, they've worked through it and are in a much better place; but that doesn't mean that Alex doesn't think about it sometimes, just like she is right now. And Jay just knew that was what Alex was thinking about, as he stepped close to her and placed his hands on her arms; while also pressing his lips to her forehead as he got her to breathe and calm down for a minute. "Hey, take a breath and relax baby. Everything's okay, we're okay." Looking up at Jay, Alex agreed with her husband as she knew that was the case. Everything was okay between them, just like they always will be. But now, she just wanted to hold her husband close to her as they spoke in bed; she just didn't know whether she wanted to do it intimately or not…but Jay did.

And he just knew that, right now, it wasn't a time to be dressed when his wife needs something else; when she needs to be held in an intimate manner, a way that makes her feel safe and like everything's going to be okay…something that only he can do for her when he's just wearing his boxers for her, which is precisely what he's about to wear for her; just as soon as he gets her in bed and goes to get undressed. "Listen Alex, how about you take a breath? Let's get you in bed. Everything'll be okay. Let's lay you down, then I'll go get changed for you." Looking up at Jay, Alex was a bit surprised when he told her that he was going to get changed. "Get changed?" Jay agreed with his wife as he stepped close to her and kissed her softly. "Right now, you need to hold me close to you as we take it easy with each other and just relax. Plus, it isn't like we're going to be going anywhere other than our bed now. We're going to be staying here today, and you clearly need something from me. So, that's precisely what you're going to get: what you need from me to relax. How does that sound?" Alex smiled, as that's precisely what she wants and needs from her incredible husband.

And that's why she's so grateful and madly in love with him, because he always knows exactly what she needs; and even better, he knows exactly when she needs them. And right now, she's due for some sexy time with her man in the comfort of their bed. "I want to cuddle up to you in bed, in our undergarments today. Promise me we do that and nothing more?" Jay agreed, as he most certainly can promise her that. "I promise, that's exactly what we're going to do. But first, you need to go get in bed and just take it easy; while I go take off my sweats so that I can get in bed with you like you want me to." Alex agreed with Jay as she turned around, that way she can get in bed and just be nice and comfortable; while he walked away to his dresser so that he could take off his sweats for the woman he loves, while also putting a bit of cologne on. "I think that this is ultimately what we were going to do in the first place, anyways." Alex smiled as Jay said that, before making her way over to him at his dresser to put some cologne on. "Can't wait for it. So, why are you taking your time." Turning his head, Jay smirked as he looked at his wife. "Cologne, you in bed; then you get me in boxers."

Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, while also watching as he made his way over to her; after which, she cuddled up to him again the moment they were standing close to one another. "I still can't believe that was six months ago tomorrow." Jay agreed with his wife. "I still can't believe we got married six months after my business partner." Alex agreed with her husband. "Speaking of which, I ran into them over the weekend at the grocery store. I swear, those twins of theirs…" Them being Matthew and Gabriela Casey, who were married on December 6th, 2016; and who have two-month-old twins named Matteo and Noah, who were born on October 8th. "…are adorable and it makes me want to have kids as soon as possible." Jay smiled as he heard Alex say that, as he wrapped his arms around her and leaned in to kiss her softly; while she placed her hands on his face and took things nice and slow with the man of her dreams. "Is that something we're trying for now?" Alex sighed, as she didn't know whether they were trying for a baby yet. "Yeah, that's something we need to talk about." Jay agreed with Alex, as he had a feeling that there was a reason she brought up the Casey twins.

"Let me guess, you hung out with Gabby?" Alex sighed. "We worked together a bit on the PTSD Services division. With Matt having PTSD, we agreed that we wanted to work on it together so that we could make sure that we create resources for wives." Jay smiled, as he loves the sound of that. "Baby, I love the sound of that. And I'm proud of you for taking the initiative." Alex agreed with Jay as he told her that, while also placing her hands on his chest as she leaned in and kissed him softly. "I also invited Gabby to join the board of the Halstead Foundation as an advisor to the Halstead PTSD Services division." Jay was confused when he heard his wife say that. "I know that I gave you free reign of the charity, but is there a reason why you want her on the board?" Alex sighed. "Matt just got diagnosed with PTSD because of his years as a firefighter, as well as some of his childhood trauma." Jay agreed with his wife when she said that. "So, I thought that she'd be a good resource. We can get some information about firefighter PTSD, something we don't have right now." Jay smiled, as his wife is quite smart. "Well, I love the sound of that. However, we aren't talking about work right now."

Alex smiled as Jay said that, before placing her hand on his chest and running her hands down his toned chest. "Courtesy of Natasha, a preview of Halstead Intimates' Spring/Summer 2018 Line." Smirking as Alex said that, Jay was very grateful for that. "Well, it looks like Natasha is getting a nice year end bonus for blessing me with a sexy preview of this year's lingerie line; with my wife being the perfect model for it." Alex agreed with Jay as she leaned in and kissed him softly, while also running her hands around his toned chest. "I hope I'm the perfect model for it, as I'm the only model you get to touch when wearing this lingerie." Jay agreed with his wife, as she's the only woman he wants to touch intimately for the rest of his life. "Babe, that's no problem. You're the only woman I want to touch for the rest of my life. After all, that's why I made you my wife." Alex agreed with Jay, smiling as she leaned in and kissed him softly. "Yes, yes it is." Taking things slow with Jay, Alex smirked as she's very happy right now. However, what's going to make her happier is when they're in bed with each other. "I want to get in bed and hold you close to me now." Jay agreed as he leaned in and kissed her quickly.

After all, he wants to do the same thing: he wants to get in bed with the woman he loves, so that they can hold each other close as they take it nice and easy with each other in the comfort of their bed. "Well, I think we both know why you want to be in bed with me." Alex smirked, as she already knew that Jay knew why she wanted to be in bed with him. "Is it that obvious that I'm turned on by my handsome husband?" Jay smirked as he leaned in and kissed her softly. "And you're going to be even more turned on when I do this." Jay said, as he picked Alex up in his arms and went to lay her down in bed right away. After all, that most certainly did turn Alex on. "Damn baby." Jay agreed with Alex as he laid her down in their bed, prior to standing up straight and smiling at the woman he loves. "Now, for the part you want oh so desperately." Alex agreed with Jay, as it most certainly is time for her to get what she wants from the man of her dreams. "Yes, yes it is time." Turning around, Jay smiled as he made his way over to his dresser, prior to taking off his sweats and folding them up for the woman of his dreams; after all, this is precisely what she wants him to be wearing.

So much so, that she decided to take the chance to flirt with him over how turned on she is. "Mama like." Turning to face his wife, Jay smirked and snickered due to the fact that he feels the same way about what she's wearing. "Daddy likes what you're wearing too." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case as she went to get comfortable in bed; prior to laying down in a seductive manner as a way to get her husband to get in bed with her faster. And damn, was that a real turn on that Jay really enjoyed the sight of. "God, you are such a turn on." Alex snickered as she heard Jay say that. "I can say the same thing about you and walking around in those sexy boxers of yours mister." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, prior to turning around and starting to make his way over to bed. "So, you want to kiss first? Or do you want to do what we need to do with each other?" Sighing, Alex already knew precisely what he was talking about: he was talking about how they need to talk to each other about how she's feeling right now. So, she decided that they were going to talk. After all, the sooner they get past it, the sooner they can just take it easy with each other.

She just hopes that Jay feels the same way. "If we talk about it now, can we agree that we try and get past it sooner rather than later?" Jay agreed with his wife, as he was thinking the same way: he wants to get past this as soon as they can, so that he can just get his wife to relax as they took it nice and easy with each other. "Believe me Alex, there's nothing more I want to do other than relax and take it easy with you. I can see that you need to relax, so that's precisely what we're going to do. But first, I'm going to get in bed with you so that we can hold each other close and take it easy with each other." Alex agreed with Jay, as that's precisely what she wants to do with her husband: she wants to hold him close as they take it easy with each other in the comfort of their bed. "I love the sound of us holding each other in bed, as we share a sweet kiss and just take it nice and easy with each other." Jay agreed with his wife, more than ready to do just that with the woman of his dreams as he climbed into bed with her; laying down afterwards, Jay made sure to get nice and close to his gorgeous wife as that's precisely where she wants him to be right now: cuddled up to her in the comfort of their bed.

The feeling that came with Jay being nice and close each other was absolutely perfect; so perfect, that the husband and wife decided to first take a moment to just admire each other as they concentrated on this time they were getting with each other. And, in fact, it was only when Jay moved his hand to the back of Alex's head and kissed her, that they even wanted to speak to each other. "God, I love the feeling of your soft lips on mine." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, well aware that she loves the feeling of his lips on hers. "I had a feeling that was the case." Alex agreed with Jay as she said that. "By the way, thanks for getting changed; I know you were apprehensive to do it at first." Jay agreed with his wife, as he was apprehensive at first. "That's only due to the fact that I felt like you needed me to take it easy and just relax, rather than go all hot and sexy with you; but now, I see that you need both. We need to relax, while also getting a bit sexy with each other…and I also knew that it would help you open up to me some more." Placing her hand on Jay's face as she cuddled up to him, Alex sighed as she wants to open up to him all the time. "Sorry you feel that way."

Jay nodded. "I just want to talk to each other and figure out whether you're okay, what I can do to make things okay between us." Alex agreed with her husband as she wrapped her arms around his neck, as that's precisely what she wants as well; though, the hug came as a surprise to Jay. So, he wrapped his arm around her too and just held her close to make sure that she was okay. "Hey, it's okay baby. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, I promise." Alex smiled as Jay said that. "Sorry, that wasn't what the hug was for…it was just because I was happy we're on the same page when it comes to what we want right now." Jay agreed with his wife, as he felt the same way. He felt like they were on the same page, which is precisely what they both want anyways. "Yes, and that's what we need to do anyways. Now, are we going to talk about what's on your mind?" Alex sighed as she agreed with Jay, as they most certainly are. "I want to start with how I feel when you're gone." Jay agreed with his wife, well aware that was the case. "Yeah, I hoped we would." He said, as he pressed his lips to her forehead as a way to get his wife to relax and just take it easy as she opened up to him right now.

And that most certainly is what happened when she cuddled up to Jay some more. "I guess, I just feel lonely sometimes when you travel without me. I mean, I know that there are times where a meeting is last minute and you need to go…" Moving his hand to Alex's side as they cuddled up to each other, Jay turned his head as he stared into his wife's gorgeous eyes; while also gently running his fingers up and down her side, as he also listened to the woman he loves attentively. "…that way, you can get a deal. But, there are times where I can't help but wonder if you don't want to bring me along." Jay was shocked that Alex would even think that way. "Hey, are you kidding me Alex? You really think that I don't want to take you to those meetings? Of course, I do. But, I just know that we'll never get time with each other, so you'll get lonely. I'll get too busy with work to spend time with you, so I'd rather you stay here so that you have people to spend time with." Alex agreed with her husband, as that made sense; but that didn't mean she didn't want to go with him. After all, she'd rather wait to spend the night with him, than spend the night alone in a cold bed.

And when he's not here with her, that's precisely what she does; she spends her time in a cold bed. "I'd rather be with you, that way I don't go to sleep and wake up in a cold bed every time you're away." Feeling horrible as he heard Alex say that, Jay brought his wife close to him due to the fact that it's what she clearly needs right now. And boy did Alex need and want this as she moved one of her hands to his toned chest, while also moving her other hand to the back of his head as she leaned in and took things nice and slow with the man she loves. The man she craves more than anything, due to the fact that he's the best husband in the entire world. "I mean it when I say I have a spectacular husband." Jay smiled as he agreed with Alex, well aware that was the case as he moved his hand to her leg and tugged her body right against his; prior to wrapping her leg around his and stroking it with his thumb some more. However, him doing that also made her nervous. "Jay, we agreed…" Leaning in, Jay calmed Alex down. "I know, no sex. I promise babe." Alex agreed with Jay as she placed her hands on his toned chest and smiled as she stared into his eyes. "I promise Alex."

Alex agreed with Jay, well aware that he wasn't going to try anything wit her. "I know you aren't going to try anything with me." Jay agreed with his wife, glad that he didn't need to prove himself to her about that. But what he was even happier about, was the fact that he and Alex were with each other in the comfort of their bed; which is precisely where they both want to be right now: they want to be holding each other here, as they take it easy with each other shortly after enjoying lunch; while, at the same time, they spoke as well. "So, you feel lonely when I'm not with you." Alex sighed, as she does feel lonely when they're apart. "Is that wrong that I feel that way?" Surprised that Alex would even ask him that question, Jay shook his head as it most certainly wasn't wrong. "Hey, I never want to hear you ask me that question again. Alex, of course it isn't wrong for you to miss me when I travel. I mean, you love me and just want to be with me as much as you can." Alex agreed with Jay, as that's precisely what she wants to do: be with her husband as much as she can be with him. Though, she knows that's not always possible as he needs to work. "So, we need to figure out a balance."

Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, as that's precisely what we need to do. "We need to find the perfect middle ground for us. How we can make sure that you aren't lonely while I'm doing business." Alex agreed with Jay, thought she was also thinking about something else at the same time. "Now just then Jay, I'm also thinking about further down the line…when we have a family." Smiling as Alex mentioned them having a family, Jay couldn't help but feel really happy about the idea as he wants to be a father to their children more than anything. "I hope you know that there's nothing more I want to be, other than a father to our children." Alex smiled as she agreed with Jay, well aware that was the case as she looked into his eyes and placed her hands on his face. After which, she leaned in and started to take things nice and slow with the man of her dreams. "You know, that brings up a question for me Jay." Jay nodded. "And what would that be?" Alex smiled as Jay asked her that question. "Do you think we're ready for a family?"

Shocked that Alex even asked him that question, Jay didn't think that they were even ready to talk about this…let alone consider having a family of their own. But, clearly, Alex was more than ready to have this conversation with him. So, if that's the case, then they most certainly are going to have the conversation. They're going to talk about whether they're ready to have a family. "I mean, at the end of the day it's up to you Alex since you're the one that has to create our family." Alex laughed and smiled as she heard Jay say that, well aware that was the case. "Can I ask first what brought this sudden topic that you want to talk about on?" Alex smiled as she proceeded to cuddle up to her husband again, as she wrapped her arms around his waist and turned her head to kiss his neck softly. "For me, it isn't all that sudden; especially not after I've watched you play with Owen so many times. You are so adorable when you play with your nephew." Jay smiled as he agreed with his wife, though he did need to correct something. "First, he's not just my nephew; rather, he's our nephew due to the fact that we're married." Alex agreed with Jay as she smiled at her husband.

As she smiled at the man she loves more than anything in the entire world, due to the fact that he truly is the love of her life; that's something Alex knows from the bottom of her heart and will always know due to the fact that he's such as great man. And that's precisely why she just wrapped her arm around his neck and leaned in to take things nice and slow with the man of her dreams. "God, I love you so much." Wrapping his arm around Alex too, Jay placed his hand on her back and just smiled as he kissed her nice and slowly. "I love you too. And I can't wait to have a family with you someday, but that doesn't need to be now if you aren't ready." Alex agreed with her husband, as she isn't ready. "I'm not ready yet, because I want to have some quality alone time with you first; if that's okay." Jay agreed with Alex, as it's more than okay. If anything, he feels the same way. "It's more than okay, as I feel the same way. I want to be alone with you right now as we just take it easy and relax with each other; especially since you clearly missed me a lot."

Alex agreed with Jay, as she most certainly has missed him a lot. "Yes, I have, which is why I'm happy that you're home so that we can spend some quality time with each other." Jay agreed with his wife as he wrapped his arm around her and just held the woman he loves more than anything close to his chest, while also leaning in and kissing the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. And not only did he just kiss her quickly, but he instead took things nice and slow with the woman he loves, which is something he wanted to do every night he was away. "You have no idea how much I wanted to do this each and every time I laid down in bed, because I felt the same way when I went to bed; I hated that it was cold and without my wife." Alex agreed with her husband as he told her that, well aware that was the case. "I had a feeling that was the case." Wrapping his arm around his wife, Jay placed his hand on the back of her head and smiled as he leaned in and kissed the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world.

The woman he craves more than anything in the entire world, his wife Alexandra Halstead; just, not enough to have sex with her. "I hope you don't think that I want to have sex with you." Alex shook her head,. "Not yet, not when I want to talk about us getting more quality time with each other; especially since we're still newlyweds and need to be together some more." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, though there was something else his wife had to do first: she needed to rest and just take it easy for a bit. "I think first, you need to do something else." Alex was a bit confused as she heard Jay say that. "And what might that be?" Jay smiled as Alex asked him that question, more than ready to give her an answer to it. "I think, you need to rest right now and take it easy. Like I said before we got in bed in the first place, I said that you need to take it easy and just relax for a while. And unfortunately, us getting all hot and sexy with each other is not us taking it easy and relaxing; as much as I would love it to be." Alex smiled, well aware that was the case. "I know you would love that, because I'd love it just as much." Jay agreed with his wife as she told him that, smiling as he kissed her.

And as he took things nice and slow with her, Jay couldn't help but smile due to the fact that this is his dream life; she's his dream life due to the fact that there's nobody else he'd rather be with other than her: the woman of his dreams who he was currently holding in bed right now. Little did he know, he was going to be holding her in bed for at least the next hour as she took a nap in his arms due to the fact that his wife was a bit tired; something he could only attest to the fact that she was stressed right now. And as you'd expect, that was the last thing Jay wanted for his wife.

Jay's POV: As I watched Alex fall asleep in my arms this afternoon (like I knew she would), I made sure to lay down on my back so that she had a "pillow" to lie down on; that pillow being my body. And the moment I did that, it seemed like Alex was in true paradise; especially when she laid her head down on my chest and just cuddled up to me, while I wrapped my legs around hers and my arm around her back. After which, I ran my hand up and down her back as a way to ensure one thing: that my gorgeous wife just takes it easy and relaxes as she gets some rest in my arms; while I took a moment to admire her, which just led me to realize something…just how tired she truly is. How did I not notice the bags under her eyes when I last spoke to her? Just looking at her face right now, I can clearly see that she's tired and really needs me here. So much so, that I'm glad that I decided to come home regardless of the business we could've gotten during this trp. I need to be here, because it's what my wife needs; she needs me here at home with her.

She needs me at home so that she can take it easy and just relax, which is clearly something that she can't have unless I'm here with her…which is something that truly breaks my heart since I want her to get a good night's sleep every night, which is something she clearly can't have unless we're together. God, had I known that she wanted to come on my trip, then I would've taken her and just made sure that she got the rest she needed on our trip. Now, she's tired and wants to do nothing more than sleep in my arms. And while I understand and am more than okay with it, I just wished that I knew a lot sooner. Still, I have to admit that my brother did the right thing: he told me what I needed to know, when I needed to know it; because had he not told me what he did, when he did…then I may be even more worried about my wife than I already am. She could've gotten hurt due to the fact that she could've been even more exhausted since she must've overworked herself, which is probably what she's done with the hopes of making me proud.

God, just thinking about that makes me sad; my wife being under the (misguided) belief that she needed to prove herself to me, to my brother. I mean, she's great at what she does, and she's always helped me. She knows what she's doing, and I can truly only blame this on my brother. He put so much pressure on her, that she just felt like nothing was perfect; that's how Alex feels at times after all, which is something I swear I told Will before I left so that he could make sure that she didn't overdo it. But, instead, he turned around what I told him and instead made sure that she did the last thing I wanted her to do: he made her overwork herself just so that she could do what? Prove herself that she can do it perfectly, when there truly is no definition of perfect in my eyes…except when it comes to her; because she's perfect. She's the only woman I can truly ever see myself being with, which is why I need to defend her and make sure that my brother knows that he can't mess with her the way he did ever again; not when it makes her tired and just feel so stressed.
