This is Chapter 15 of Tales of the Decade Second Season.
Chapter 15: Confronting the Past for the Future
Tsukasa and his mons stare at Daiki and Selina's arrival. Dark Diend, stunned by that surprise shot, actually hums amused about how long he would show up.
''Nyan~Nyan.'' Selina purrs at the Absol, teasing that they're here to take all the glory. Layla growls slightly by her comment.
''Sorry, I wasn't invited to the party.'' Daiki taunts Tsukasa who smirks, correcting his assumption. ''I'm pretty sure no one invited you. Then again, this isn't a private party.''
Daiki smirks, surprised he still has humor left in him.
''So how did you know I was here?'' Tsukasa asks the obvious question, pretty sure Dragonic… or Sougo had the time to tell Kaito where they were. Daiki just smirks as he says rather mysteriously. ''An old acquaintance of ours told me you were here to save Natsumi-chan and finish Dark Decade.''
Tsukasa raises an eyebrow as does Layla, uttering puzzled. ''Acquaintance?''
Daiki really wants to tell him who but he was warned not to. Besides, it'll be a somewhat interesting surprise. Instead, he orders him. ''I got this. Go save Natsumi.''
Tsukasa eyes him, planning to do so. He begins to walk away but then Daiki quickly stops him with the side of the Diendriver tapping his shoulder, reminding him playfully yet threatening. ''And don't leave me out of fighting Dark Decade. He and I have a score to settle.''
Tsukasa oddly smirks, gently pushing the gun off him as he tells him. ''Now that would be rude.'' He soon walks past him as Layla and Jiggly follow. The Absol stops, eyeing the Purrloin and she barks at her that she better not get herself killed. ''Absol!''
''Nyan~'' Selina just purrs playfully in a tease, not expecting to ever die with her numerous lives. Layla snorts before she and Jigglypuff chase and catch up to Tsukasa.
Daiki watches them leave and smirks, hoping he doesn't forget.
''I'm surprised Daiki.'' He soon frowns, gazing upon Dark Diend who transforms back Junichi, adjusting his uniform. ''You made a friend though it is ironic that friend has the face of our Great Leader.''
Daiki scoffs at his older brother's comment, responding rather cheerfully. ''True but my Tsukasa has something that man will never have: He gets me excited to see what new world I can go and new treasure I can take.''
Junichi now scoffs back as he lectures his little brother's new way of living in a cruel tone. ''How pitiful. You were once a cop like me and now you're nothing more but a thief just like that cat you've been catching for so long.''
''… As a cop, I uphold the right to protect others' freedoms.'' Daiki begins telling him calmly of who he was but also who he is now. ''And as a Treasure Hunter, I uphold my own sense of freedom. Something no one, not even Dai-Shocker, can take away from me.''
He tightens the grip of his Diendriver, openly admitting to him. ''I may have become selfish and cruel at times…'' Before he gives his brother a dirty look. ''But I- Selina and I would never steal the freedom of others.''
Selina sticks her tongue at Junichi as Daiki then says, aiming his gun at his brother. ''That's the difference between us, Onii-san.'' Saying the last word of his sentence with such disdain.
Junichi just smiles, not showing that he's either pleased to hear that or secretly enraged. Instead, he begins to say. ''I spared you once because you are my brother…'' He twirls up his Dark Diendriver as he holds up a Rider Card. ''Now I won't hold that mercy.'' He slides it into the gun, loading it.
''Nyan-Nyan!'' Selina purrs seriously that it's time to settle this. Daiki smirks as he twirls his own Diendriver and holds up his own Rider Card, declaring. ''Let's go, partner.'' He slides and loads the card into his driver.
''KAMEN RIDE!'' Both drivers begin to announce in their own tones as both wields shout, raising their guns at the other and fires a shot. ''Henshin!''
A blue and black energy shot fires only to split into 3 lights, wrapping around their owners.
''DIEND / DARK DIEND!'' The two different Diendrivers announce as they become their rider forms.
Diend twirls his gun again, simply showing off. Dark Diend just notices the small changes on the Diendriver, commentating to himself. ''His Diendriver looks different.''
They look down, not making the other move until a gentle breeze moves past them and immediately, they raise their drivers and start firing as they run to the left. Their shots miss the other due to their speed, still firing for the other to make a mistake. Eventually, they come charging at the other with their speed, clashing arm bashes and even kicks as they're pushed back away from the other.
Dark Diend actually breathes, feeling that blow was much stronger than what Diend is capable of. Has he gotten stronger? No, stronger than Dark Diend's powers?
Diend pulls out a card and slides it into his weapon, loading it in.
''ATTACK RIDE! ILLUSION!'' The Diendriver announces as he creates 4 copies of himself, all charging at Dark Diend who also slides a card in his own weapon.
''ATTACK RIDE! BARRIER!'' The Dark Diendriver announces as a black energy barrier forms around Dark Diend as Diend and his copies all fire shots upon him but none of their attacks work. Dark Diend then pulls out 3 Rider Cards and loads them each into his gun.
''KAMEN RIDE! PSYGA! GLAIVE! CAUCASUS!'' The Dark Diendriver then announces as the barrier drops and Dark Diend fires a shot that quickly becomes 3. Diend and his copies dodged the energy shots that then transformed into the declared riders with Caucasus using Clock Up to destroy two copies. Glaive then swings an energy slash at another and Psyga fires a powerful beam that destroys the last one.
Diend watches as Caucasus now comes at him as the other two fire their shots at Diend too. The cyan colored rider simply moves around the shots as he actually kicks a Clock Up Caucasus coming at him, pushing him backwards but not doing any damage.
Dark Diend hums with amusement as he taunts his brother. ''Impressive but unless you can't actually damage my stronger summons, you're out of luck Daiki.''
Diend, however, snickers as he responds, sliding and loading in 3 Rider Cards. ''I intend to with my new power.''
The darker Diend looks at him, wondering what he means by that.
''KAMEN RIDE!'' The Diendriver begins to announce as Diend fires a shot over his head splitting up into three that swirls around and transforms into the declared riders. ''ACCEL! BEAST! SPECTER!''
Dark Diend staggers back as Diend summons forth 3 Neo Heisei riders, all doing their poses. Beast quickly charges in, using his Wizard Ring to change into Chameleon form and shoots out a long stretchy tongue attack that strikes Dark Diend's summoned riders, dazing them. Accel comes charging next, swinging downward, releasing a powerful super-heated geyser blast from underneath both Psyga and Glaive and destroying them.
Caucasus tries to use Clock Up only to get punched by Specter that appears right out of thin air in front of him, pushing him back. It staggers the summoned rider long enough for Specter to change into Tutankhamun Damashii form and aims with the Gan Gun Hand in Sickle Mode as well as manifesting an energy shape of the Eye of Providence. He swings a powerful energy slash, blasting the summoned rider into the eye and absorbing inside before the eye is disintegrated and also destroying Caucasus.
''You can now summon the Neo Heisei Riders?'' Dark Diend questions surprised as Diend's summoned riders vanish and declares, sliding in 3 more Rider Cards into his weapon. ''I'm just getting warmed up.'' He loads them in and takes aim.
''KAMEN RIDE!'' The Diendriver announces as Diend fires a shot, becoming 3 right at Dark Diend who dodges around them until they become summoned riders. ''METEOR! BARON! BRAVE!''
Meteor comes at Dark Diend with rapid martial art fists before kicking him up and then Dark Diend gets slashed by Baron's spear and Brave's sword, slashing him multiple times before thrusting their weapons and sparks fly out from Dark Diend as he hits the wall.
Dark Diend gasps, pulling himself off the wall as the summoned riders vanish. He breathes, looking at Diend while Selina taunts him with a claw paw wave.
''How did you gain this power?'' Dark Diend demands, not understanding this increase in power. Diend just snickers, instead insults him. ''It seems Dark Diend can't evolve. Shame.''
Dark Diend snarls, loading in a Rider Card.
''ATTACK RIDE! INVISIBLE!'' The Dark Diendriver announces as Dark Diend turns invisible. Selina panics while Diend remains calm as he slides in 3 more Rider Cards into his driver and loads them in.
''SUPER KAMEN RIDE!'' The Diendriver suddenly announces as Diend fires 3 shots at three directions, transforming into 3 powered-up secondary riders. ''BIRTH DAY! MACH DEAD HEAT! CROSS-Z CHARGE!''
Dark Diend, still invisible, is shocked that Diend is now able to bring up Super Rider Forms of his summoned riders.
Birth fires a widespread attack across the area, eventually hitting Dark Diend to reveal himself. Immediately, Mach dashes right up to Diend with insane speed and assaults him with multiple kick strikes before kicking him right towards Cross-Z, charging up a powered-up punch, and swings that punch, connecting to Dark Diend and explodes on impact. Dark Diend is launched through a wall, crashing onto the ground of the other side of a room with electrical damage coursing through him.
Dark Diend grunts in more pain, standing back up but he's in disbelief that Diend is that strong now. How?
''Time to end this, Onii-san.'' Diend proclaims as his summoned riders vanished and he slides in a new Rider Card, loading it into his weapon.
''KAMEN RIDE!'' The Diendriver announces as Diend fires a shot above him and descends, transforming into his last new rider. ''GEIZ!'' Geiz poses, clenching his hands as Diend slides and loads another Rider Card.
''FINAL FORM RIDE!'' The Diendriver then announces as Diend fires a shot at Geiz's back. He gasps as his body glows and begins to unfold and reshaped, transforming into a combination of the Zikan Zax and Revive's Zikan Jaclaw with the dominant color is red with twin blue coated blades, connecting to an orange buzz saw attachment and it also has an arrow tip barrel. ''GEIZ!''
Diend wields it, dashing at Dark Diend and slashes him with his twin blades and then slashes him with the buzz saw. He swings an upward strike that launches Dark Diend into the air and then Selina slides in a Rider Card into his driver and Diend loads it in.
''FINAL ATTACK RIDE!'' The Diendriver announces as he takes aim with his transformed Geiz weapon towards Dark Diend and fires a destructive red, sharp energy shot that pierces through Dark Diend's shots and hits him directly, exploding on impact. ''GEIZ!''
Dark Diend crashes onto the ground, grunting in pain. He tries to stand up again as Diend discards the transformed Geiz weapon, vanishing away.
''How… did you… gotten stronger?'' Dark Diend questions him, not believing he's become this strong. Diend doesn't answer as he pulls out a Rider Card.
''Because I haven't lost my freedom yet and I never will.'' Diend proclaims, sliding and loading the card in his weapon. Dark Diend groans as he slides and loads in his own Rider Card.
''FINAL ATTACK RIDE!'' Both Diendrivers begin to announce as the two leap up and perform a Rider Kick as holographic cards form towards the other and they fly right at the other, phasing through the cards before finally kicking the other's foot. ''DIEND! / DARK DIEND!'' Swirls of cyan and black energies collide, trying to overpower the other.
The two opposing Diends try to kick through the other's attack but neither one budges. However, Diend just snickers as he calls out for help. ''Selina, Assist!''
Smirking, Selina leaps up and dives next to Diend, mimicking Diend's Rider Kick.
''Nyan~NYAN!'' She purrs excitedly, diving down and stomping her kick, wrapped in cyan energy, next to Diend's. Both kicks' energies grow and overpowers Dark Diend's so much so that both Diend and Selina make one final push; kicking right through Dark Diend's kick and lands on the ground. Dark Diend can only grunt as his body glows and soon he's consumed in a powerful explosion, blasting upward through the castle.
Diend breathes softly while Selina breathes heavily. They turn around as Dark Diend falls out of the smoke of the explosion and crashes hard on the ground. Calming down, Diend walks up towards the damaged Dark Diend as both riders change back to normal. Selina hops on Daiki's shoulder as they look at the defeated Junichi.
Junichi is heavily damaged, bleeding from his mouth with multiple wounds as he looks up at his younger brother and the thief cat, looking down at him.
''N-Not bad… Daiki…'' He praises him weakly, trying to smile. ''You're become strong… Really strong.''
Daiki just looks upset at this change of attitude. Junichi just snickers as he proclaims with a weak smile. ''Don't give me… that look. This is when you… look at me with petty.''
''… Why…'' Frowning annoyed by his smiling face, Daiki begins to question him as he makes a furious expression and voice. ''Why are you looking at me like that?! You started all of this! You betray everyone we knew and FOR WHAT?! To die like this!''
Selina eyes her partner, sighing in agreement as he causes a lot of problems. However, Junichi just smiles as if he's not wrong; he is dying from these wounds but he doesn't care; he knew this was always his fate.
''… I had to Daiki… ever since he approached me.'' He begins to explain to his younger brother. Daiki looks uncertain, not following. Junichi closes his eyes as he begins to reveal to him. ''I-I hated Dark Decade… ever since we saw the death of our family.''
He begins to recall that day of the invasion; how his family was basically the casualties of war. Just like Daiki who wanted revenge; Junichi did too and even hid his desire for revenge more than his little brother.
''I tried with the Resistance, believing we could somehow fight back but then he approached before me.'' Junichi begins to explain, recalling a few days before their operation to attack Dai-Shocker when he appeared. That dark figure resembled a Rider but his presence was much darker than Dark Decade's as he revealed a dark truth through a vision. ''He said we would all die by the Great Leader's might without him being the one to do it. He showed me that possible future.''
Daiki makes a face. Show him? A vision?
''And then… he showed me another, one that Dark Decade would be defeated… but only if I agreed to help him.'' Junichi then reveals his real intentions, chuckling weakly with blood spilling out from his mouth. ''Of course… I had to play along and be your evil big brother… until I die by your hands.''
Daiki just looks at him with disbelief. He… he did all of this from the beginning? To get close to Dark Decade so he would die by his hands. No… that… it doesn't make sense! Even Selina can't believe this either.
''I… I had to so you would be strong.'' Trying to reach out but couldn't, Junichi admits to him. ''There can only exist 1 true Diend like there should always exist 1 true Decade. That is what he told me.''
''… Who?'' Daiki asks him as Junichi looks at him weakly and tells him. ''… The Demon King.''
That surprises both Daiki and Selina as he utters. ''What? So Dark Decade isn't-''
''You'll learn… who he is soon enough.'' Junichi just warns him, knowing he will make his move once Dark Decade is stopped. But he doesn't care about that, eyeing his younger brother with an expression of regret, wishing he told him all of this back on that day or continuing his original plans and none of them would have existed.
''Forgive me for all I've done, Daiki.'' Junichi pleads to his brother for all he's done to him and all he's done for the sake of his revenge. ''I-I failed you… And made you suffer.'' He smiles at his cruelty but relief that it paid off for his little brother. ''I am a scum. I… I just need to tell you… That I'm proud in you.''
Daiki just looks at him, speechless. He did all of this for him?
Junichi soon uses what little strength he has to reach inside his coat and pulls something, his arm about to lose all of its strength.
''Use… this…'' He begins to tell Daiki, holding what he pulled out. It was a K-Touch; one design for the stronger Diend. ''The last thing… this failure of a Big Brother… can give his little brother.'' He begins to tell his little brother, trusting this power to him. ''Use it to… defeat Dark Decade…''
Daiki eyes it and accepts the item. Junichi smiles as he now looks at Selina, frowning, as he asks of the little cat. ''Keep him company.''
Selina just nods, planning to. Junichi smiles as his vision begins to fail him heavily; his time is up. He just smiles, having done what he was ordered and now he can leave the rest to his brother.
''So long… Daiki.'' Junichi finally utters out his last breath before closing his eyes, reaching his hand to him before suddenly dropping and hitting the ground.
''…'' Daiki is utterly silent, staring down with an expression of dread before he grits his teeth and slams a punch to the ground, letting out a painful, sincere scream. ''AAAAWWWW!''
Selina eyes him, frowning as all she can do is pat his leg.
Elsewhere, Natsumi is also making a dreadful face by what Doctor Shinigami said, being her grandfather. No… no. She doesn't care if this world is supposed to be evil; she can't accept any version of her grandpa would be one.
Kiva-la sighs, wondering how long the doctor would finally reveal the truth and just looking at Natsumi's expression; she's not taking it well.
''… Y-you're lying.'' Natsumi finally speaks up, calling him out. The Fangire just snickers, not blaming her to think like that as he repeats himself. ''Like I said, I am the Eijiro Hikari of this world.''
''My grandpa was never a monster!'' Natsumi protests upset, refuses to accept that her grandpa was always a Fangire. The mad scientist just snickers as he responds. ''True but he could have become this if he did the same thing I did.''
He leans up to her up to the surface of the barrier as he tells her. ''Of course you don't want to remember that day; it's a painful memory.''
He's not wrong, Natsumi has done all she can to not remember the incident. Biting her lips, she finally needs to remember that day and it all flows into her mind; tears dripping from her eyes.
''The… crash…'' She utters out, recalling that day clearly. A simple drive with her parents that resulted in an accident of a truck hitting them and killing them. She was in the back of the car and survived… As far as she remembered, the last thing she remembers since then is waking up in the hospital and her grandpa was sitting next to her, waiting for her to wake up.
Doctor Shinigami nods as he begins to reveal the details of the crash in his world. ''You were with your parents in that family drive, trying to pick up your grandfather until that truck rammed your little car without looking. Your parents died and you were in a critical state. You had no hope to live-''
He coughs heavily, also finding it painful to remember those events. He clears his throat before he continues. ''So as a scientist, Eijiro used his research on the Decadriver to save you. He thought of every possible solution, all failed…''
He also recalls his research of that time, every lead an utter dead end and time chipping away more and more as he's losing time. Eventually, a solution came before him; the only one to save his granddaughter. ''Except one; infusing human DNA with monster DNA.''
Natsumi soon gulps with a paralyzing stare. She slowly looks at her hands. No. T-that can't be true. She then remembers crying when she was in her deep sleep from the crash, hearing her grandpa's voice at how much he can't lose her. Did he really do that to her?
''But he had to pick the right monster and one with the ability to regenerate such damage in your system.'' Doctor Shinigami continues explaining, recalling his own experience as well. Knowing her grandfather, they both came to the same conclusion among the many different monsters that only one possesses the means to save their granddaughter. ''Among the ones he only knew; he chose Fangire DNA. My assumption is your grandfather was patient with the test; using simulations and perfecting the DNA fusion so it wouldn't turn his granddaughter into a monster.''
Natsumi isn't sure to feel relief to hear that or dread that she's part monster.
''I, however, took a reckless procedure and tested on my myself.'' The Fangire, with a grim voice, expresses. He recalls his worries and suspense for his Natsumi, so he used himself as the guinea pig while the other him was more patient and had faith he would save his granddaughter's health. ''His patience made the elixir a success, saving his granddaughter… while my recklessness turned me at first into a vicious, uncontrollable monster that…''
He soon covers his claws over his eyes, still able to see that day. He performed the experiment on himself with the elixir, drinking it. At first, he seemed okay as he even wounded himself and the wound regenerated instantly. He ran to the hospital to use it on his granddaughter… until it happened. His body suddenly surged in pain, causing him to scream as his body, both internal and external, morphed and changed into a living monster. And then… all turned red and all he can hear are screams.
''That I ended up killing her along with everyone else in that hospital.'' He finally admits, revealing his horrific act and mistake. Natsumi is silent as she can tell he's in pain for what he's done. She frowns, looking down before she apologies to him. ''I-I'm… sorry.''
Doctor Shinigami actually staggers, looking at the saddened Natsumi as he chuckles, responding with a sincere voice. ''Don't be. I failed as a scientist and as a grandfather. I… I should have…'' He's unable to finish his words as he staggers backwards, breathing heavily as his claws start to mutate. This startles Natsumi, watching him acting differently again and she can tell it's not normal.
''W-what's happening to you?'' She asks him, concerned. The Fangire tries to laugh though it sounds like he's gargling in pain as he reveals to her. ''My body… it is mutating rapidly. I… I will lose the rest of my humanity and fully become a Fangire who will feast on more Life Energy…'' He narrows his eyes towards her, gasping as his head is starting to mutate too. ''Staring with… you.''
Natsumi takes a step back, gulping as she doesn't want to be sucked dry.
''I-Is that why you brought me here?'' She asks him, wondering if his intentions were to kill her to ease his hunger. This actually shocks the mad scientist as he immediately protests, struggling to maintain his sanity. ''No, never! I…''
He breathes, eyeing her as he admits his intentions. ''I wanted to see you, to see the grandchild I could have had. I… I am proud to see the young woman you have become.''
Natsumi just widens her eyes, narrowing her eyes away so that she can't believe she accused him of such a thing. She frowns, saddened as she looks at him with sadness. The Fangire just snickers, wishing he can smile like he used to as a human but he can't. Instead, he expresses his joy to see her. ''Now… I can die with no regrets.''
He might not have gotten this chance without his doing, revealing this fact to her. ''This was all possible because of him. After all, he made me create both Dark Drivers and to serve Dark Decade until the time was right.''
She looks at him, puzzled by who he's referring to but it couldn't be Dragonic. After all, he's the one who asked her grandfather of her world to create the good Decadriver and Diendriver. So who ordered her grandfather of this world to make them? And it's clearly not Dark Decade by how he said it.
''Natsumi…'' She snaps out from her thoughts, eyeing Doctor Shinigami as he tells her, almost sounding happy. ''You will be the one to kill me. He also showed me… my future…''
Natsumi makes a face, not able to believe that. No. How could she- She can't! She doesn't even have the means to do what he's asking her.
Able to tell she doesn't understand, the Fangire doesn't explain how, eyeing Kiva-la who nods. He then tells Natsumi. ''I leave the rest to your hands. Please, kill me and set me free.''
Natsumi just frowns, biting her lips as she doesn't know how. However, she wouldn't have time to ask him more as Doctor Shinigami quickly pulls back, gasping as he feels the mutation will occur. His time is nearly up. He eyes one of his boards, gazing at the designs of a large greatsword as he asks of her. ''Tell… Decade… that my final creation is his to use as he wants and…''
He looks back at Natsumi as he expresses his joy for her companion. ''Thank him for being your light.''
Natsumi remains silent, blushing bright red.
''Speaking of…'' Snickering as he feels something, Doctor Shinigami turns around as the front door of his lab is blasted through, the doors falling apart and revealing that it is Tsukasa, wielding his Ride Booker in gun form, and Layla having used Psycho Cut. Jigglypuff is behind both, sweat dropping as that's a little of an overkill.
''Tsukasa-kun!'' Natsumi proclaims, really happy that he came… only to panic as this is a bad time too. Taking a step inside as does his Absol, Tsukasa proclaims as he puts his weapon away. ''I've come to take Natsumikan but I have to say 1 thing.''
He points his finger at the Fangire and oddly smirks, telling him. ''It's a pleasure to meet at least a version of Natsumikan's grandfather.''
This surprised the Fangire, slowly cracking a chuckle of amusement.
''Of course you would have figured out…'' He begins to tell Tsukasa, praising his intelligence and quick thinking, more than the Great Leader. ''You're smarter than your counterparts. He wasn't wrong that you are superior to Dark Decade.''
That line threw Tsukasa. Who is he referring to?
Sadly, Doctor Shinigami couldn't explain who as his eyes widened, feeling that he will finally lose himself. He turns around, gazing at the concern Natsumi before he proclaims softly. ''It's been a pleasure… Natsumi dear…'' He soon gasps as his eyes glow red and begins to let out a howling shriek. ''GAAAAAAWWWWWW!'' His body begins to glow and change.
Everyone widens their eyes as Doctor Shinigami is growing double his size, becoming more monstrous and demonic in appearance with sharp mouth fangs, shrieking loudly. His wings become quadruple as his claws are sharper than before as his muscles are that of a monster bodybuilder.
''A-ABSOL!'' Layla barks in distress and horror, not expecting that. Tsukasa sweat drops as he comments. ''I can tell.''
Natsumi sweats as this is what he was warning her. He looks so primal as he lets out a howling shriek, rushing at her and slams its claws on the barrier, trying to claw through in there but couldn't.
She panics but she snaps out, calling out to Tsukasa. ''Tsukasa-kun, he's not himself! Just try to stop and-'' She tries to plead for him to spare him until the evolved Fangire turns around towards Tsukasa and comes charging as it shrieks like a wild beast. ''WWWWRRRYYYY!''
Layla quickly intercepts with Protect, blocking the attack and pushes it back but he just charges back, swiping its claws over and over to break through the barrier. Natsumi sees this and can't help but regret her pleas as Layla is sweating, struggling to maintain her barrier. She frowns, realizing that he can't be saved now. She… she can't just lose her grandfather again but she doesn't want to lose Tsukasa either. Eventually, she makes a choice.
''P-Please…'' Beginning to ask Tsukasa, Natsumi pleads to end this as tears drip from her eyes. ''Set him free.''
''… Right.'' Hearing her wishes saddened, Tsukasa straps on the Decadriver and thrusts a card into it.
''KAMEN RIDE!'' The Decadriver announces as he pushes the levers forward, uttering out quietly. ''Henshin.'' His body glows magenta as Layla finally drops her barrier and the Fangire is punched away by the transformed Decade. ''DECADE!''
Stomping back, the Fangire lets out another wild cry. ''WWWRRRYYY!'' It comes lunging forward as Layla tries to use Sucker Punch but Decade intercepts and kicks the monster back, fully aware the berserk Doctor Shinigami is too dangerous to fight.
''WWWRRRYYY!'' The Fangire shrieks monstrously, coming at Decade who dodges him only for the monster to flap its wings and blasts away with a burst of wind. Sparks fly out of Decade who lands on the ground, grunting as he yells irritated by its cry. ''I hate that screech!''
He pulls out a Rider Card and dunks it in as the monster comes at him.
''KAMEN RIDE! ICHIGO!'' The Decadriver announces as Decade transforms into Ichigo and delivers a Rider Punch across its gut, slamming him backwards but only for a bit before it's hovering in the air.
Layla and Jiggly both watch Decade fighting the monster before they eye the trapped Natsumi and run to free her. The berserk Fangire spots them and comes at them only for Decade-Ichigo to leap above him, thrusting a card in his belt.
''KAMEN RIDE! HIBIKI!'' The Decadriver announces as he becomes Hibiki and stomp kicks the monster into the ground. He eyes the two startled mon, ordering them to save Natsumi. ''Go!'' He's suddenly thrusted off the Fangire as it turns and shrieks, coming at him. Decade-Hibiki breathes intense purple flames from his mouth but the Fangire rams through them and arm bashes him into the wall.
Decade grunts, pulling himself up as he slides another card into his belt.
''KAMEN RIDE! SUPER-1!'' The Decadriver announces as Decade becomes Super-1 and comes at the Fangire with a powerful punch but the Fangire catches it and pushes him backwards into a machine.
Layla and Jiggly rush and reach Natsumi only to be stopped by the barrier.
''Absol!'' Layla barks, happy to see her but also upset she's stuck in her. Natsumi sighs, wishing she can understand her but she has a feeling that she wants to get her out of here. She nods, pressing on her Mega Bracelet and shouts. ''Layla, Mega Evolve!''
Layla howls as her body glows and majestic wings emerge out of her back, Mega Evolving. She immediately unleashes a full power Night Slash upon the energy shield but the barrier withstood it. This shocks her, growling as she's going to try again but Natsumi instead instructs her, noticing Decade is struggling. ''Forget it about me and help Tsukasa-kun!'' She then eyes Jigglypuff, asking her too. ''You too Jiggly!''
''Jiggly…'' Jigglypuff utters seriously while Layla nods determinedly. Natsumi watches them rush over to Decade's help as he's slammed into another machine, knocking him out of his form.
''Jiggly, use Sing!'' Natsumi commands as Jigglypuff gets excitedly, holding up her microphone and begins singing. ''Jiggly~Jiggly~Jigglypuff~!''
The Fangire staggers and starts acting dazed, gripping on its head by the annoying singing, enough for Decade to slash him with his Ride Booker sword form followed by Layla slashing him with her horn and tail. Sparks fly out as Jigglypuff sings even more passionately. ''Ji~ggly~puff! Ji~ggly~puff!''
Irritated by the singing, the Fangire lets out a powerful scream that blows everyone away, canceling Jigglypuff's singing. Decade holds his ground as he thrusts another card into his belt.
''KAMEN RIDE! RYUKI!'' The Decadriver announces as he transforms into Ryuki and comes at the Fangire, moving with insane speed by entering in and out of the mirror reflections across the laboratory. The Fangire tries hitting where he would be but receives a kick or punch instead all while Decade moves around in all directions. Growling, the Fangire lets out another shriek so strong it vibrates and as Decade comes out of the Mirror World; he's blasted away by the sonic vibrations.
''Layla, use Psycho Cut!'' Covering her ears by the monster's screams Natsumi orders Layla who leaps as her wings soar forward and she twirls around rapidly before firing a powerful psychic energy slash from her horn right at the Fangire. It hits him directly but the attack fades away and it only flinches the monster. It now comes at Layla who moves around him, slashing him with her horn and tail but it only causes sparks to fly out.
Gulping, Natsumi now orders both mons. ''Jiggly, use Rough Play! Layla, use Megahorn!''
''Jiggly!'' Jigglypuff lets out a battle cry, charging at the Fangire as her body is surrounded in a pink aura while Layla charges at the monster's back as her horn glows pale green. The two slam their attacks on both sides of the berserk Doctor Shinigami, struggling as its eyes glow.
''WWWWRRRRYYYYY!'' He lets out a destructive shriek of energy, pushing and blasting the two away into the walls. Both Layla and Jiggly soon drop off the walls as the Absol reverts back to base form. They're both too injured to continue fighting to Natsumi's dismay.
Decade, however, still holds his ground, thrusting a card into his belt.
''SUPER KAMEN RIDE!'' The Decadriver then announces as Decade transforms into Kiva's Super form. ''KIVA DOGABAKI!'' He comes swinging with his hammer only for the Fangire to catch and then slash it with its claws, tearing it apart and slashes Decade too, sparks flying out.
Decade manages to dunk a card as he crashes but backflips up as the Decadriver announces. ''SUPER KAMEN RIDE! AGITO BURNING!'' Decade leaps forward, transformed into Agito's super form as he swings a fiery fist at the berserk Fangire who unleashes red beams of light from its eyes, countering Decade's punch and even explodes him. It knocks him back to base form as he hits the wall again.
Natsumi watches this with a dreadful expression, still seeing Decade getting up only for the berserk Shinigami to slam its claws onto her and smashes him into another machine.
''Tsukasa-kun…'' She utters out softly, dropping onto her knees. She looks down, feeling so helpless all while everyone is fighting their hardest.
''I'm the only one…'' She begins to cry, feeling nothing more than being a drag to everyone. No, after everything they went through along these long journeys; she can't just kneel down while everyone is fighting. She… she always wanted to fight beside Tsukasa; to protect him like he's always done the same. Not just him but also Dragonic, Layla and everyone else.
Biting her lips at her own fragile confidence, Natsumi starts yelling at herself. ''No! I…'' Standing back up on her feet, she squeezes her hands and shouts strongly. ''I WANT TO SAVE THEM!''
Natsumi right away bangs her hands on the barrier, trying to free herself but the barrier withholds perfectly fine. She groans, pushing her forearm on it, even kicking it but nothing.
''Open it! Just open up!'' She yells, watching Decade getting tossed one to another. Biting her bottom lips, Natsumi bangs the surface of the barrier over and over and over, desperately trying to break free with all of her strength but no luck.
''Please! OPEN UP!'' She yells, begging for any of her attempts to work to break this open; nothing is working. She tries over and over and she can't go on anymore. She soon stops, breathing heavily as the barrier just holds untouched. She starts sobbing, feeling so weak and she is weak. She can't even protect the ones she loves.
''Please…'' She begs one more time, doing a gentle kick on the barrier. Nothing happened… until a voice speaks up. ''All you had to do was ask, smooch~''
Natsumi blinks as the barrier suddenly vanishes and the one who did it is Kiva-la, pressing on the button on the control panel next to it.
''Kiva-la?'' She utters out bewildered towards the small white robotic bat. ''Why? You were created by Doctor Shinigami to serve Dai-Shocker?''
''Who said that?'' Kiva-la protests with small giggles. Natsumi blinks again, stepping out of the cell as the little bat floats in front of her, revealing to her. ''Your grandfather created me.''
She widens her eyes, asking her in shock. ''My actual grandpa?!''
Kiva-la giggles, her body shaking up and down. She recalls a bit of her creation as Natsumi's caring grandfather was making her, giving her the personality of her deceased wife; sassy but alluring.
''I was nearly completed until that night Narutaki appeared.'' She begins to explain to her of her creation being interrupted the same day Narutaki would try to destroy the Decadriver and instead kill Eijiro. But before that happened, he sent her incomplete form to another world, leading her to be discovered by Doctor Shinigami.
''Not wanting him to learn of my existence, your grandfather teleported me to another world so someone else could complete me. And I was treated by the doctor. Ironic huh?'' Kiva-la tells Natsumi with a humorous giggle. The mad scientist finished completing her as she told him who she was and who her creator was. ''I told him all about your grandfather and about you too.''
Natsumi is shocked as her grandfather never told her this… then again, he never told her that she may be part Fangire by what he did to her body.
''W-why would my grandpa create you?'' She asks the white bat who giggles, flying around her. ''Because I'm a transformation belt, silly. But I'm only capable with only 1 DNA: Yours.''
This shocks Natsumi, meaning she can-
Kiva-la soon hovers in front of her face and asks sincerely. ''Do you wish to help your friends? Do you want to fight beside them?''
Natsumi looks at her, hesitating to respond but ultimately she nods; wanting to help so much. Kiva-la just giggles as she offers her. ''Then all you need to do is trust me and use my power. This is your grandfather's gift to you.''
''… What if this is a trick you're making up?'' She then questions the bat's offer, finding it way too good to be true. Natsumi isn't sure if a part of her is afraid to accept this or afraid that the bat is lying to her.
Kiva-la just giggles, understanding her mistrust but responds honestly. ''Trust me like you've trusted them.'' As she looks at Decade struggling and Layla grunting, trying to get back up.
''Tch, this guy is a damn monster. Where's Dragonic when-'' Decade starts complaining with a sense of humor only for the Fangire to slash him into a wall as it shrieks violently. ''WWWRRRYYY!''
Natsumi sees this and she can't see it anymore. She takes a moment, exhaling softly before she looks at the white bat. ''I will protect them now.'' She tells herself, making a response.
''… Lead me your strength, Kiva-la!'' Raising her right hand in front of the bat, Natsumi pleads for her help. The bat can only coo as she responds to her attitude. ''Hehe, yes ma'am~!''
Grabbing the little robot bat, Natsumi moves it towards her other hand, directly to the index finger. Cooing, Kiva-la bites down on it. Natsumi gasps heavily before screaming, feeling the power of the hidden Fangire power within her awakening with the markings slowly forming across her bottom chin and face.
Decade just notices this in shock until he's picked up by the evolved Fangire and tossed into a machine, slamming him right through it. The berserk Shinigami just rams through said machine and makes a U-turn in there, coming at Decade with a claw strike that launches Decade into another machine, sparks flying out as the Fangire rams itself onto him, stomping its claws into him over and over.
Natsumi sees Decade getting beaten up and she bites her lips, not able to let that happen. Refusing to let this power consume her when someone she cares for might die, again; Natsumi resists and focuses tightly, wanting to overpowered this. Soon the markings on her turn white, lavender blue and pink colors. Raising the bat forward, both Natsumi and Kiva-la declare loudly. ''HEN-SHIN!''
Immediately Kiva-la releases multiple pink sonic waves in the form of a heart shaped forward and enclosed around her. Natsumi's forehead glows a heart shaped as the waves construct pink sharp petals around her before encasing her. She gasps as the petals attach themselves to her very being and soul, reshaping her body as she begins to grow and mature.
Soon the light around her cracks and shatters a part of her, revealing Natsumi has transformed into a white feminine Kiva (without the chains) with lavender blue colors mainly in the center of the chest (with a yellow gem in between the chest as well as black lining underneath) and gloves. The outfit has bat wing-like shoulder pads and collar neck which each have the blue lavender inner portions, thin silver metal plates around her wrist, her ankles, her chest mainly on each breast, on the sides of her waist in the form of bat-shapes skirts, her knee pads and the shoulders too. She has Kiva-la now attached on the center of a red belt around her waist, decorated with thin silver chains. Her helmet is similar to Kiva's but different with purple bat horn on the top and yellow colors in the form of a tiara of shorts over her red bat-like visor eyes.
The Fangire soon stops as the transformed Natsumi runs up with such speed that she kicks him off Decade. The magenta colored rider lifts his head rather dazed as he looks at the transformed new Rider, uttering out. ''Natsumi?''
The white female Rider turns him and gives him a peace sign hand gesture.
''Absol!'' Layla barks in astonishment while Jigglypuff cries excitedly by this. ''JIGGLY!''
Kiva-la looks at her hands, also awe by this form and this power flowing through her.
''This feels so different…'' She expresses, looking at herself as she feels bigger than usual. ''Woah! I'm taller and-'' She suddenly gasps, touching her chest by mistake or rather the white bat leaning her hands to touch her chest and Natsumi's face would turn red as her chest feels a bit larger- well larger in her opinion.
''Oh wow.'' She expresses astonishment as the belt shakes and the actual Kiva-la asks her. ''Hehe, you like~''
''Not complaining right now.'' The white rider replies with her own small giggle. She needs this moment before facing forward and nearly dodges the claw swipes of incoming Fangire before Decade notices it and shocks him.
The berserk Fangire shrieks, swinging its claws like a beast at the new target but Kiva-la simply moves around the claw swipes, almost like they move in slow motion. And not only that but she giggles, doing demanding, sexual poses just to taunt him.
''Too slow~'' She says before she performs a strike kick, stunning the Fangire as she kicks him again, consecutive times just like Kiva would before she twirls around and kicks him into a wall.
She giggles at this before she relaxes and declares with a calmer voice, holding her right hand forward. ''Come, Kiva-la Saber!''
Swirls of energy forms as Kiva-la grabs onto it and manifests her saber: A white-silver blade with a blue lavender hilt with a red pommel and a bat-shaped guard. She grabs onto it before she swipes the back end of her elegant weapon, similar to Decade, before charging at the damaged berserk Shinigami and slashes him with swift slashes. Sparks fly out across the Fangire, shrieking in agony.
It tries to back away but Decade instructs her. ''Natsumi-chan, finish this!''
The white rider dashes at the monster, about to perform a piercing strike at the Fangire until Kiva-la suddenly hesitates, struggling to go through with this but in her heart; it's too painful to kill her Grandfather of this world.
This startles the berserk Fangire before it shrieks and comes at Kiva-la. She panics as Decade suddenly moves past her, swinging his Ride Booker at the monster but he easily slaps him into the wall.
''WWRRRYYY!'' The Fangire cries as it comes at the hesitative Kiva-la. However…
''FINAL KAMEN RIDE!'' The evolved Fangire pauses as shooting out of the wall. is Decade in his Complete form, thrusting his Ride Booker sword form. ''DECADE! COMPLETE!'' The monster turns too slow as Decade manages to penetrate his sword into its back as the blade emerges outward of its chest. It shrieks in pain, trying to shake violently to remove the thing out of its chest but Decade grips onto the monster's back with all of his strength.
''You have to finish this! If you don't do this, he'll only be in more pain!'' Decade tells Kiva-la, gasping as she just realizes her mistake. That's right… it's what Doctor Shinigami told her before he mutated into this. But… it's not fair that it has to be her… yet…
The Fangire starts shrieking, trying to summon its power to blast Decade off him but he refuses to lose his grip onto the beast, simply yelling at her to end it. ''DO IT NOW, NATSUMI!''
''…'' Gripping tightly on her rapier-like sword, Kiva-la lets out a deep breath before she holds up her sword and moves her free hand over the blade from its guard. She then moves it slowly towards the end tip of the blade while it glows in a lavender light of energy. Once the hand fully moves across the blade, the Kiva-la belt chants excitedly. ''WAKE UP~!''
''… Goodbye…'' Kiva-la then slowly says, looking at the berserk Fangire trying to break free and does, knocking Decade away and his sword off him, until her visor eyes glows and she comes dashing right at him. ''Grandpa.''
She moves fast, thrusting her blade through the Fangire's chest, mainly its heart. It pierces through as the Fangire suddenly stops itself from screaming as well as stops struggling. Its body begins to glow in lavender and starts to slowly vaporize. It looks at Kiva-la and slowly can't help but snicker as its whole body shatters and disintegrates into sparks of light, flying upward before they fade away.
Kiva-la stands there, breathing softly but her arm that wields her blade trembles. She… she killed him. Even when he said that she would do it to free him of his curse; it doesn't change what she's done is inhumane. How… How can this be right? Is this what a Kamen Rider must do at times? Is this… okay?
''Absol!'' She startles, turning to see Layla approaching towards her, barking softly along with Jigglypuff floating next to her. ''Jiggly!'' They're both happy that she's okay, easing Kiva-la's nerves.
''You did a great job out there, Natsumikan.'' She now turns to see Decade standing in front of her before he detransforms and Tsukasa smirks softly, correcting himself. ''No, I mean Kamen Rider Kiva-la.''
Kiva-la doesn't say anything as she glows and changes back, revealing a warm, red cheeked Natsumi looking at him. She slowly smiles, knowing what she did is wrong but to protect her loved ones; then it was worth it.
''Thank you, Tsukasa-kun.'' She expresses kindly as Kiva-la swirls around her, giggling.
''Absol!'' Layla barks as it surprises her to hear that she's part Fangire. Natsumi agrees with the Absol, beginning to reply. ''I know right. I'm surprised I'm part-'' She soon pauses, looking at Layla and then widens her eyes. She… SHE UNDERSTOOD HER!
''EH! I CAN UNDERSTAND YOU NOW LAYLA-CHAN?!'' She yells in awe while Layla sweat drops, surprised again.
''Jiggly!'' Jigglypuff cries, floating up to Natsumi as she asks if she can understand her too. Natsumi oddly giggles, embracing the pink puffy mon and tells her happily. ''I can hear you too, Jiggly!''
Jiggly cries happily as Natsumi laughs happily, now able to understand them.
Tsukasa watches this with a small smile, happy to see her like this. He can already tell that she needed it after everything that happened.
''Well that makes up for everything huh?'' He narrows his eyes to Kiva-la, giggling at him.
''…'' Tsukasa glares at the white bat whose sweat drops before he warns her with a calmer yet firm tone. ''Protect Natsumi and if you don't, I will dismantle you.''
Kiva-la literally gulps, believing his threat as she utters. ''Scary~''
Tsukasa ignores her comment as he tells Natsumi. ''Time to go home, Natsumi.''
She blinks, facing him before questioning him. ''What about Dark Decade?''
Tsukasa sighs, actually forgetting about that but yea; he should deal with this once and for all.
''I mean… if you want me to.'' He asks her which causes Natsumi to respond energetically. ''You bet!'' She then smiles, asking him. ''But together now, okay?''
He eyes her and just scoffs with a small smirk, turning his back towards the door and responds. ''Let's go then.''
She smiles, nodding as she releases Jigglypuff.
''Kiva-la.'' Natsumi begins to call out to the white bat who hovers in front of her and smiles. ''Let's go, partner!''
This surprises the robotic-like bat before she giggles and responds happily. ''Yes~!''
Natsumi smiles as she walks up next to Tsukasa with Layla, Jiggly and Kiva-la. Soon the group runs for it, out of the destroyed lab to face their final foe. But for this one moment, Natsumi is happy as she can finally fight beside Tsukasa and the others. And as her grandfather's final gift to her and in memory of her other grandfather of this world; she won't fail them. Ever.
Author's Note: Time to clarify things:
1) This is now full on Fanfic territory, using elements from the Decade series from the TV Series, Movies and even Novels (which I already used so yea).
2) Acquaintance hmm? I wonder who hmm? Next chapter.
3) Let's properly talk about The Neo Diendriver. In ZI-O, SPOILER… Tsukasa and Kaito do return with their new evolved, stronger forms for Decade and Diend… And we never found out how they got their evolved forms. So it's kinda crazy that was never explained and likely we will never get an answer. So here's mine: Daiki got his from all the rider drivers he got from the secondary riders throughout this journey. Thus the Neo Diendriver is born. It makes sense if you think about the creation of the Geiz Majesty Ridewatch… though I won't say it will go the same way in the future-of-whatever-form-I-do a continuation of this.
4) In the TV Series… it's hard to say if Junichi changed due to what happened in the World of Diend two-part episode but for Tales of the Decade; yes, Junichi wasn't evil but working under another to help Daiki. And died too. It's like Itachi Uchiha but different.
5) Also it's weird to do a Diend Rider Kick since WELL… Diend NEVER has done a Rider Kick, ever. SO YEA, here it is!
6) I've already mentioned that in the All Riders vs Dai-Shocker movie, Natsumi's grandfather was a member of Dai-Shocker in secret as Doctor Shinigami… so for Tales of the Decade, he is not but the Negative version of Eijiro Hikari is.
7) It has been hinted at a few times in Tales of the Decade but the reveal is that Natsumi is a hybrid of human and Fangire because of what her main world grandfather did to save her life during that car incident (similar to what one character happened in Kiva). I like this twist because it helps understand that one is truly human by not giving up their humanity just like how Natsumi sees Tsukasa as a human because he hasn't given up his humanity nor has she. And of course, she doesn't transform or have the powers of a Fangire since they were hidden within her but that didn't mean others wouldn't sense that energy within her. So, is she a Fangire? Yes and no. She's a hybrid but can't become one... unless she transforms into a rider.
8) Wry. Wry. Wry. Jojo fans will get this.
9) Alright… let's talk about Kiva-la. In the TV series… she was just there. We don't know if Narutaki created her or she just existed in the A.R. World of Kiva or what. So here's the Tales of the Decade version: Eijiro created her as he was finishing the Decadriver and the Diendriver to help Natsumi in case she needed to use those powers within her (makes sense how close Kiva-la and Eijiro were in the TV Series). Of course, he didn't finish Kiva-la (because Narutaki arrived looking for the Decadriver) so he sent her to the World of Negative to let his other self to finish the project.
In the TV Series also and I had to wiki it, Kiva-la is actually a unique transformation bat who can let anyone, even humans, into becoming Kamen Rider Kiva-la, even herself (if we count that fake trailer for the "final" Decade movie). And yes, this is the rider that kills Decade Violent Emotions in the Movie Wars 2010… even though Tsukasa wanted Natsumi to kill him so he didn't fight back.
For Tales of the Decade; Kiva-la was created only for Natsumi due to her hybrid DNA to transform into Kamen Rider Kiva-la, summoning forth her hidden Fangire abilities in this state. Kamen Rider Kiva-la was created to assist Decade but also be the last resort if he turns evil. So, we can say Kiva-la is likely in the same level as Decade Complete (and under a rage/determined state stronger than Violent Emotions). His final gift to his granddaughter.
10) So did Eijiro know about the World of Negative? I suppose and also know that his other version is someone to be trusted too even though he's screwed up a lot. Likely so, the old man was kind to trust a damn bat in the TV Series so yea!
I'm not happy I had to squeeze Daiki's final battle against his brother as well as Natsumi's growth and becoming Kiva-la all in one but I had no choice. The next 3 chapters are the finale.
Was also not happy about the chapter's title but yea. If anyone has a better title, let me know please. I would change this title with ease.
